"I think it's very admiral what you are doing. You have so much of your mother in you and your grandfather." Holly told Emma, looking at her lovingly.
"I've had some great adults around me. You know mom told me how you were there for her when she thought Grandpa and Grandma Anna had passed away. I just want you to know she's not mad or disappointed about the Sasha secret. She would have liked to have gotten to know her while she was growing up, but she gets it, and so do I. Sometimes, secrets take on a life of their own. Especially when you are trying to protect people you love." Emma wanted Holly to know she didn't think less of her.
Holly took her stepdaughter's hand. "Thank you for saying that. You really have grown into such a remarkable young woman. Robin and Patrick must be so proud."
Emma made a face. She knew her parents loved her, but she had definitely become a lot to handle. "I hope so. I've actually got to go. I'm meeting my friend Gio soon. Do you think you and Grandpa would want to have dinner soon?"
"Of course, and you can bring the young man with you if you want to, of course. We would love to meet your friend." Holly stood up with Emma.
"Maybe. I think you both would like him." Emma's eyes lit up as she spoke of Gio.
"I'm sure we would darling." Holly gave her a hug as Sasha and Robert walked back in.
"Sorry about that, babe, are you leaving?" Robert was disappointed.
"Yes, but hopefully, we will be having dinner soon." Emma gave Robert a hug, then Sasha.
"Definitely." Robert walked Emma to the door. After she left, Robert looked over at his wife and daughter. "I have something I want to share with you before anyone else." Robert told Sasha.
Sasha sat down next to Holly. "Okay..."
"I'm resigning as DA, but not because I don't want to be in this town anymore. You are one of the most important people in the world to me, but this job has never suited me." Robert told his younger daughter. He wanted her to know that he was in her life for good.
Sasha was relieved hearing the last part. She got up to hug him. "I love you, Robert, or should I say dad, I want you to be happy, and I want mother happy too. But I do want you two to promise me one thing."
