The episode referenced in this one-shot is Season 1, Episode 6: And the Fables of Doom.

There will be mentions of Ra in this one, but she won't actually be in it (if that makes sense). I know I don't do many of these types of one-shots, but sometimes they are needed for a little background. Well, not much in this one, but you know what I mean.

The legalities. I do not own any of the Librarians franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au. Rated M just to be on the safe side.

Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!

Hope you enjoy!

Prompt: "When I first saw her, I didn't really see her, just the pile of books she was carrying."

"Is there something I can assist you with, Colonel Baird?"

Colonel Eve Baird sighed before turning to face Jenkins as he walked into his workspace, carrying a couple of books over to his desk. It had been a day since the team had returned with the Libris Fabula, and there was something that was nagging at her. "Actually, there is, Jenkins."

The Researcher nodded as he set the books down and turned back towards the Guardian. "And what may that be?"

"How does Ra know that we have barely scratched the surface when it comes to magic? I was under the impression that she didn't leave the Library all that often."

"Ah, and you don't feel as comfortable asking her because she either just stares at you expectantly until you change the subject or deflects and changes the subject herself?"

"Exactly. Also, how did she get so good at that?"

Jenkins sighed before giving Baird a small smile. "I don't have many answers for you, Colonel, when it comes to Aurora's background. In fact, I doubt that Mr. Carsen knows more than any of us, even though he has known her the longest."

"Not helpful, Jenkins."

"I am aware, but I do know that Judson did make Mr. Carsen take her on a few missions not that long after she started." He chuckled softly. "Of course, that was all before I met her. I believe she had to negotiate with both Judson and Charlene in order to stop them from sending her out in the field, in fact. Though Charlene had a tendency to just send her places, like out here."

"Oh, really. What happened when you two met? And why send her out here?"

The Researcher chuckled again. "Firstly, when I first saw her, I didn't really see her, just the pile of books she was carrying, as she had decided to do some research while here. And as to why, I believe that Aurora said she was told something about how the Archivist was supposed to ensure that all of the Library's collections were accounted for. Needless to say, in the year before you all showed up at my door, she had visited the Annex multiple times."

Baird just shook her head. "I'm in over my head with her, aren't I?"

Jenkins gave the Guardian a calculated look. "I would suggest to not underestimate her. Aurora, I have found, tends to hide the extent of her knowledge. Which does make her rather dangerous."
