As they walked Jane continued to stare at Gideon. Alice asked, "You looking at something".
Jane responded "Uh, no mum. Just thinking about our situation. When you and dad offered me to come with you. I never expected this".
Alice said "Sweetheart. Trust me, there are things that happen in life that you never expect. When I was a child, I was just chasing a white rabbit. Never thought it'd take me to a strange new world. A world I would return to and stay there until I was an adult. And only after I met the man of my dreams and thought he was lost to me forever".
Jane asked "You thought dad was lost to you. What happened".
Alice answered "Doesn't matter. But what does is that we found each other again and then we had you". Jane accepted this and continued not sure why she couldn't take her eyes off Gideon.
They walked until night when Gideon said, "We need to rest for tonight".
Zelena exclaimed "Thank God".
Emma said "For once I agree with Zelena. We need rest".
Gideon said "Everyone sleep. I'll take first shift".
Jane asked, "Why do we need to take shifts".
Alice said "In case we're attacked. Your father and I learned that a long time ago. If your ever out. Always have someone keeping watch".
Jane responded, "But there are no people here besides us".
Gideon said "But there are animals out here that will attack us. It may even be the leopard men if they've realised that we're following men".
Emma asked, "Do they".
Gideon answered "Unlikely, but better to be safe than sorry".
Belle said, "I'll stay up with you".
Gideon responded "No need mother. I'll be fine".
Belle accepted and said, "If you need anything just wake us up".
Gideon responded, "Will do mother".
Emma said "all right everyone. We need sleep. So, find the softest bit of ground and go to sleep".
This was accepted by everyone and as everyone else slept, Jane looked around to see everyone else sleeping and couldn't believe that she was in the jungle helping try to save a gorilla with her mother, strangers, a wild man, a gorilla, and an elephant. She turned to Gideon and knew that she couldn't sleep so decided to talk to him. She got up and said "Hey".
Gideon responded "Hey. You know that you really should get some sleep. I'm fine".
Jane said "Well, I'm not. I can't sleep so I decided to be with you. If that's okay of course".
Gideon responded "Of course".
Jane said "You know. I'm so happy to be finally able to talk to you. When we first met, you could only tell me that your name was Tarzan and mimicked me".
Gideon said "I'm happy to understand you to. And I'm so happy that you've come. Not just you but all of you. If you didn't then I would have continued thinking that I was going to be alone forever".
Jane remarked "I know the feeling". Gideon was confused by this and Jane said, "Just because you're around other people doesn't mean you're not alone".
Gideon asked "How".
Jane answered "Let's just say that nobody really understands me. I have my parents but that's it. Everyone else that I try and communicate with, just goes nowhere. My friends back in England don't talk to me anymore. Even though we went to finishing school together, they've left me".
Gideon asked "Why".
Jane answered "They're all married. They've all begun to have children. I'm just the odd one out. Mother keeps trying to set me up with people, I know she cares but the more I try, the more alone I feel. The more that I feel that I will never meet anyone who actually loves me".
Gideon told her "You'll meet somebody. I thought that I would be alone forever but look. I'm not anymore".
Jane said "Well, I have good reason to believe it. I used to be like everyone else. I used to have someone but then it all went away. I was only a tool for his amusement, and when he was finished with me, he just threw me away. I know the difference between real and not real love. I've seen it with everyone else. I see it in my parents, but I've never seen it with me. I feel like the only person in the world who's destined to be alone forever". Alice was secretly awake listening to this and hated that her daughter felt like this and wanted to help her but knew that all her attempts had made things worse.
Gideon said "Well, I've never met a woman like that. I hope to someday and I know it'll happen".
Jane asked "How. How are you so sure".
Gideon answered "I wasn't until I met you. You gave me hope. You're the first person like me I saw. You changed my life, and I can never repay you for that".
Jane said "Well, I'm glad I helped someone. I just wish I could help myself".
Gideon responded, "Maybe that's because you can't". Jane turned to him confused and Gideon said "Maybe you need someone else to help you. Like you helped me".
Jane remarked "Can you point me in their direction".
Gideon answered "Unfortunately not. But until then I offer my help. I offer my helped so you don't feel alone".
Jane asked, "You'd really do that for me".
Gideon said, "After what you've done for me, it's the least I can do".
Jane responded "Thanks. You know for a wild man, you're actually quite insightful".
Gideon answered "I've had a lot of time to think. And read. This book taught me everything there was to be a hero and a gentleman. I didn't know exactly what they were, but they were who I wanted to be".
Jane said "Well, you are. And I have to say that you're really good. I haven't felt this good in a long time".
Gideon said "Well, if I have to be honest. Before you came, I wasn't. I was alone and devastated. I thought that I'd be alone forever and that it was my fault that there was nobody like me. That there was something wrong with me". Belle who was also secretly awake heard this and hated hearing this. She wanted to help her boy but knew there was nothing she could do about the past. She could only help with the present and that present was one where she never her son's side.
Jane said "Well, I guess we had that in common".
Gideon responded "Yeah, maybe we weren't truly alone after all".
Jane said "And since I came here, I helped you. Maybe you're supposed to help me".
Gideon said, "I don't know but I'll try".
Jane said slowly "I know you will. I've known that you are different from every other boy in England". Jane moved closer to Gideon never feeling like the way she did with anyone else. She wanted to kiss him and as she moved closer, she said "You actually want to try". Gideon seeing this moved closer because he wanted to kiss her as well. Jane was beautiful and full of something that he couldn't quite place but he knew that she was special and wanted to kiss her. As they moved closer Gideon was willing, but Jane then realised and stopped. She said "No. This is wrong. We just met. I'm sorry. I really need to go to bed".
Jane went back besides her mother and Gideon was confused because he thought that she liked him. Gideon had never had any experience with people before, especially women and didn't know what to do but he now realised that he did have strong feelings for Jane and devastated that she didn't have them back. Belle and Alice both saw this and Alice knew that Jane was scared while Belle knew that her little boy wasn't a baby anymore and was devastated that she missed out on her time with him. Because of her, she lost her and Gold's baby, and they'll never get him back. Their baby is gone, and they've lost him forever. All she wanted to have him, but she can't and it's all her fault.
In the morning both Jane and Gideon were distant but continued to do what they were doing. Belle looked at Gideon leading them and said to Gold "Rumple. We need to talk".
Gold asked, "About what".
Belle answered, "Our son".
Gold could tell that something was wrong, and Gold asked, "What's wrong".
Belle answered "We failed Rumple. We came here for our baby, and we failed".
Gold told her "We didn't fail. Gideon's right there".
Belle responded "I know but look at him. He's a man now, and, and I, I just don't know".
Gold said "You're disappointed because you were expecting Gideon to be the baby that needed his parents. But now he's a man, he doesn't need us like you expected and you're disappointed".
Belle asked, "How did you know".
Gold answered "I felt the same with Bae in New York. That's why I was quite eager to distract myself with Lacey so I wouldn't have to deal with the fact that I had lost my son".
Belle admitted "I don't know what to do Rumple".
Gold answered, "We could try for another child if you wish".
Belle answered "I don't know. I want a baby, and I know that no matter what I will always love Gideon and he'll never be a replacement, but will Gideon think that. If he does, then I won't. I will not hurt Gideon like that. Not after everything he's been through".
Gold asked, "But does that mean you will never want a second child ever or force yourself to not have one".
Belle thought about it and answered on the verge of tears "I don't know. I really just don't know".
Gold wrapped his arm around her and said "No matter I'm with you. Any decision you make I'll support you". Belle looked at Gold happy to hear this. Gold said "But I'd suggest you talk to Emma. She was in this position before. Charming had Neal. I'd talk to her. She's the only one that could say how Gideon could possibly feel".
Belle accepted this and walked straight over to Emma and said "Emma. Can we talk".
Emma answered "Of course". She then turned to Henry and said "You go walk ahead with David. I'll catch up".
Henry responded "Okay" and began to walk with David who was happy to walk with Henry and wrapped his arm around him.
Emma asked "So, what's wrong. Is it Gold".
Belle answered "No, it's my son".
Emma asked "What's wrong. We found him".
Belle answered "He's an adult. I love him but I'm struggling to get used to that".
Emma said, "You should tell my mother that, she knows exactly how you feel".
Belle said "I wanted to talk to you. Because I wanted to know how you felt when Snow and David had Neal".
Emma asked, "You want to have a second kid".
Belle answered "I'm unsure. I don't know. I want to. And in my heart, it'll never replace Gideon and be a second one, I'm sure of that. But I don't know how Gideon will feel. I don't want him to feel replaced".
Emma said, "He won't. He knows that you didn't try to give him away".
Belle asked "Are you sure, because when we go back and learns to us, he's supposed to be a baby but was forced away from us and grew up alone without us, and then we have another one. Will he feel replaced or that he missed out on the time we should have had. The time we are giving to this baby".
Emma said, "It's weird that I've been in exact position".
Belle said "I know. That's why I've come to you. Do you ever, even feel a little replaced by Neal".
Emma answered, "No. He's my little brother and I love him".
Belle asked, "I mean do you ever feel resentment towards him for getting the time with your parents that you didn't have".
Emma answered, "A little".
Belle said quickly "Okay then, it's settled. I will not have a second child".
Emma grabbed Belle and said "Hey, hey, hey, hold on. Hold on. That's not what I meant".
Belle responded, "But you just said".
Emma said "I know what I just said. But it's not what I meant. Everyone feels a little resentment to everyone. It's human. But I love my baby brother and happy that he's in my life far more than any resentment". Belle accepted this and Emma continued "And if my parents didn't because of me then I would resent myself far more. I would hate that they are not doing something just for me. Now, you don't want Gideon to hate himself".
Belle answered, "No. Absolutely not".
Emma said "So, if you wanna have another child then go have one. I know that when you grow up alone. The best thing in the world in a large family. I have one, actually to large in fact. My son's grandfather is Rumpelstiltskin, and your husband. That's too much".
Belle giggled and said "Yeah, it's a lot".
Emma said, "But I'd never give it up for the world. Any of it, including your husband".
Belle smiled and said "Thanks. I feel better now".
Emma responded, "Happy to help".
Belle went back over to Gold and Gold asked "So, how did it go".
Belle answered "Good".
Gold asked "So, you feel better now".
Belle answered "Yep. And when we get back, we're having another child".
Gold responded "Okay".
Belle said "A full pregnancy. No magic to speed it up, I want the full nine months".
Gold responded, "Got it".
Belle said quickly, "I love you".
Gold responded, "I love you, to".
