Characters may be OOC at times. Just another random idea I had.

Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars.

Shin had always been a pretty light sleeper. At least for as long as Baylan had known her. She wasn't usually one to have nightmares either. On the few occasions when she did have one, Baylan would feel a brief flash of distress on her side of their bond, and then her shields would instantly go up. That was how he knew that she had woken up. He never checked on her, or asked any questions, he respected her privacy. But tonight was different. Baylan wasn't sure what had woken him at first, but the reason quickly became clear, it was his apprentice. Distress rolled off of her in waves, but Baylan wasn't too concerned, she would likely wake up in a few minutes. Nonetheless, he sat up and stole a glance at the chrono beside his bed. It read 0200. Baylan waited a few minutes, focusing in on his bond with Shin. The waves of distress had grown stronger. This was unusual, and after another moment of consideration, Baylan decided to go check on her. He left his small private quarters, crossed through the common area, and paused in front of the door to Shin's pricate quarters. The waves of distress got even stronger as he got closer. Normally, he would not have invaded her privacy, but he couldn't let this continue. He opened the door, and then he entered. Shin lay in her bunk, sleeping, but certainly not peacefully. She twitched and shifted, her expression seemed almost pained, and a quiet whimpered escaped her lips.

Baylan knelt down beside her bunk, "Shin." he placed his hand on her arm, shaking her gently. Her eyes flew open and she sat up. She was shaking, her eyes were wide and she was practically gasping for breath. Baylan moved so that he was sitting on the edge of the bed, "Look at me," he commanded, placing his hands on her shoulders, "Breathe." She did. It took a few moments, but her breathing slowed, although her shaking didn't subside completely. Baylan watched as her gaze sharpened, then dropped from his eyes to the floor.

"I'm sorry," she said, her voice quiet.

Baylan squeezed her shoulders gently, "There's no need to be, but you should try to get some more sleep."

Her gaze remained fixed to the floor, "I don't think I can."

"I'll help you."

Shin nodded her consent, and Baylan placed his hand on her head, and sent a strong sleep suggestion. Her gaze flicked up to meet his, "Thank you Master." then her eyes fluttered closed and she would've fallen back onto the pillow if Baylan hadn't had a hand on her back. He eased her back gently and readjusted the blanket.

"Sleep well, Shin." he said, brushing a few strands of hair away from her face before taking his leave. By the next morning, it would be as though none of this had happened. They wouldn't discuss it. It had been a moment, and the moment had passed. And, at least for now, all was well.

A/N: Yes, pointless fluff and hurt/comfort, made solely because I enjoy those things. I know Baylan and Shin may seem OOC, but we don't yet know the full scope of their relationship as master and apprentice. But I can tell that Shin really trusts and respects Baylan, and I think he does care about her. Once again(and I will say this at the end if every chapter)I don't mind if you have suggestions, just please keep them in the K or K plus rating. Anyway, I apologize for any grammar mistakes. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
