Red versus yellow.

The sharp edge of a scythe scraped harshly against a metal gauntlet. The sound of scraping was soon drowned out as a gun blast filled the air.

Standing apart from the sound of the action was a lone yellow-haired man. His arms were locked in place across his chest as his eyes traced the action occurring in front of him.

The scythe-wielder, his daughter, had twisted out of range of the gunshots moments before they slammed into her face. As the dust rounds flew harmlessly past her head, the girl pressed the trigger of her own weapon. The round that exited her weapon was powerful, definitely sniper-grade, but missed its mark completely. Yet, the miss seemed to bother the girl none as the force behind the shot sent her flying back a full thirty feet away from her opponent.

If the scythe-wielding girl thought the space was going to be a reprieve, she was proven wrong as her blonde opponent came charging at her. With the precision of a veteran huntsman, the younger of the duo leveled her scythe at her charging opponent and let a few rounds sing from the weapon's barrel.

The shots were powerful and precise. Each of the rounds rocketed through the air at a nearly unfollowable pace. Yet, none came close to putting down the charging girl. The fired rounds found themselves either deflected off the blonde's gauntlets or straight-up tanked by the brawler. The ammo that was powerful enough to put a hole through even the mightiest Grimm did little to stop the blonde's charge. If anything, they seemed to spur on the girl as she released a mighty roar while leaping at her opponent.

The girl's flight was short-lived as she came crashing down on the scythe-wielder's position moments later. A small cloud of smoke obscured the two girls but the sound of sniper fire made it clear that the blonde had missed her mark. A new set of sniper rounds careened towards the gauntleted-girl but, unlike their previous iterations, they never met their mark. A set of shotgun shells met the sniper rounds mid-air, causing a set of mini-explosions to fill the clearing.

The scythe-wielding girl had used the cloud of dust from her opponent's leap to reposition herself to higher ground. Unfortunately for her, her foe had used the explosions to close the distance once more. The girl with the scythe had only a moment to brace herself with her aura before a gauntlet-covered hand, propelled by a shotgun blast, slammed into her face. The hit sent the girl crashing from the tree branch she had been occupying for only a few seconds. She slammed into the ground, shaking the earth as her weapon tumbled from her grip.

The blonde would not allow her sister any reprieve as she leapt from the tree, her gauntlets ready for another strike. The struck girl didn't wallow in her momentary fall. She quickly skipped up to feet as a steel cable leapt from her sleeve towards her weapon. The cable wrapped around the weapon's handle and, with a tug from its owner, the weapon came flying back to the girl's hand. With a practiced ease and in a motion that took only a small instant, the black-haired girl swung the barrel of her weapon at the airborne girl and let loose five rounds.

The first two rounds struck the blonde in her midsection, causing her to lose any sense of the form she had in the air. The last three all landed above shoulders, causing her to crash into the ground in an ungraceful, smoking lump of limbs.

"Sorry, Yang! I wasn't aiming for your head."

"Looks like we trained up a bunch of monsters."

The lone male looked over his shoulder at the new voice. Its familiarity was the only reason his head turn hadn't been accompanied by the meanest uppercut he could muster up. Though, the smell of alcohol drifting off his new companion made the blond man reconsider not throwing that uppercut.

"Luckily, we got two of them. They balance each other out … sort of." The sober man spoke as he watched his daughter clutch at a few pieces of her hair that had been separated from her due to his other daughter's scythe. The rage building in the girl could've been spotted from a mile away.

"Tai … it's getting bad out there." The other male's words dragged a sigh out from the blond man. His response came in the form of more silence as his eyes stayed locked on the sight of his two daughters as one not-so-subtletly tried to scalp the other with her shotgun gauntlets.

"It's time, Tai. Oz is gone and we have no clue when he's coming back. The academies have gone ghost. We can't afford to waste any more time." The drunk man's words were greeted once more by silence. This carried on for nearly a full minute before a gentle pat on the arm made the blond look away from his daughters. A silver-tone flask greeted his sight. He hesitated for a moment before accepting it with a grunt, quickly taking a few swigs of the alcohol before handing the flask back to its owner.

"You're right, Qrow. I know you're right." Tai spoke as his attention returned to his daughters. A lot must have occurred as the blonde was now rubbing the dark-haired girl's back as large, crocodile tears fell down her face.

"It's just…"

"I know." Qrow spoke as he looked over at his nieces. A bitter smile settled on his face at the sight of Yang offering Ruby a baking sheet of cookies to make up for her roughness.

"It's hard to say goodbye."

AN: R.I.P Rooster teeth. This chapter was not planned. But, the closing of Rooster teeth by WB motivated me to write it. I grew up on their videos and podcasts which eventually led me to RWBY. Their Extra Life streams convinced me to run my own gaming-based fundraiser as a teenager. Between RvB, RWBY and even some of their lesser-known shows like Camp Camp, I've gotten a lot of inspiration from the company's IPs. So, congratulations on 20+ years on the internet and I hope that all the employees manage to land on their feet.

I plan on releasing another short chapter like this for Blake in the next 48ish hours. I'll then be switching over to longer-form chapters as voted on my members of my discord. Wish you had a chance to give me your input? Join my discord using this code: FaXc8JxJyk
