Chapter 3: Kill the Big Story Pt. 2
Things had been eerily silent for the Night Raid members for the past few days. Things were awfully quiet for the past few days.
Though, that didn't mean that things were simple for Akame and Sheele, they still had to adapt to their new environment. War was not in every corner, and things were peaceful.
Very peaceful.
It even got to the point where it was getting a little boring for the two women, albeit, they didn't mind it all that much.
Besides, their old life was nothing short but exciting, so much so that death was in every corner. So to some degree, they were prefer this world over their's any day.
No more taking lives; no more mourning losses. Sheele was more in tune to get closer to her beloved, even to the point of adapting more of his Ben-isms, his attitude, basically mirroring the guy.
It was charming but…creepy to say the least.
Akame on the other hand, liked the guy, she respected him - well borderline loved him. Anytime someone insulted him, or tried to get to his face, she would be the first, before Sheele, to be on the defense.
Though, if Ben were to be honest, she was acting more of a big sister then Leone…well…let's forget that part. Ben was still confused about Leone and her feelings for him.
It wasn't until that evening they received a call, something about a break in in an abandoned nuclear plant not too far from the suburbs of Bellwood.
When this info reached Sheele and Akame, they quickly suited up and grabbed whatever they could find.
Kevin protested since they didn't have any weapons on them, but this fact didn't bother them the least.
They were specialized trained killers. They could use whatever means to make up for the lack of their Imperial Arms.
It was night time at the abandoned nuclear power plant, Kevin thundered his way to the red armored assassin, Seven-Seven; smacking his metallic fists across the mercenary's face, sending him flying across the room.
He recovered, of course, morphing his arm to plasma cannons. He quickly pointed the weapon at the burly teenager. Just before he had the chance to before, he was sent flying again by a devastating kick to the face by the voluptuous purple young woman.
"Stiiiiiirike! You're out!" thumbed the quirky Sheele while throwing out the peace sign. Another young woman jumped next to Sheele, armed with two long machetes.
"Do you think it was smart for you to go out into battle without a weapon?" Akame scolded.
"Umm…sorry," Sheele said sheepishly to a frustrated Akame.
The red mercenary himself, got up angry, activated his plasma cannons at both of the girls.
Kevin rushed in to act as a shield.
"Guys get out of the way!" he yelled as rushed over to them. Without a second thought, the mercenary opened fire, firing a hot red blast at the girls. Though Kevin absorbed the blast, both he and the girls flew backwards to a wall.
Had the mercenary had a face, he would have pursed up a sinister grin across his face.
Seven-Seven morphed his hand into a plasma cannon to finish him off, unfortunately he never took that chance; bullets of small pink orbs struck the mercenary, pushing him back a bit.
Gwen ran down the stairs, with fury and rage across her face. "Back off!" she demanded, seeing her boyfriend down for the count, defending her beloved with a series of pink blasts.
She then jumped off the ledge, caught her footing on a pink platform and resumed fire; however, the red mercenary, ten steps ahead, countered with its laser blades, swatting them away like they were nothing but insignificant insects.
Gwen landed in front of the master computer as the red mercenary charged towards her. She threw up some pink platforms to counter his offensive blows with little to know avail. She held out all that she could until she couldn't anymore.
The pink wall shattered like glass, leaving her vulnerable; all it took was one stroke of the arm from the mercenary to put the energy bearer to rest…permanently.
That was until the Orange muscular alien tiger came from behind, grabbing his arm at last, pulling him away from Gwen and towards the angry mug of the ferocious feline.
"YOU DID NOT JUST DO THAT," screamed Rath, "LEMME TELL YA SOMETHIN' SEVEN-SEVEN, INTERGALACTIC BOUNTY HUNTER FOR HIRE…"
With the utmost violation of interrupting Rath's confrontational speeches, Seven-Seven abruptly threw a back kick to Rath's face, throwing him to the ground. Rath, though pinned, drew up a smile on his face.
"Oooh, karate!" Rath mocked, getting up from the ground, his smile printed so lovingly on his face, "I wanna call you Karate Man. Can I call you Karate Man, Karate Man?!" Rath mocked.
Seven-Seven, having enough of Rath's mouth charged at him at full force, his arm pulled back, holding the laser blade, ready to decapitate his loud mouth…the same loudmouth that bit down the laser blade like it was a cheap tuna sandwich purchased at a nearby local grocery store from down the corner.
Seeing that he finally ran out of weapons, Seven-Seven got on his kata ready to take the roided tiger down in hand-to-hand combat. Rath, typically, didn't really take it seriously since his smile never left his face.
Could it be genetic stupidity, or could it be Ben's idiocy overpowering his common sense. Could be both.
"Tell ya what, Karate Man, I'd hold real still like a stack of boards, and you can meditate until you are ready to chop me in half, okay?" Rath said with a grin, mocking him, slicing the air with his oversized hands for emphasis.
Had Seven-Seven had a face, it would have read that he was utterly pissed that day. This creature was mocking him in front of his face, taking the battle as if it was nothing but a game. Dishonorable. Therefore, this mercenary would like nothing more but to put an end to this smug tiger's existence!
With one foot back, he charged forward at the tiger with full force, throwing the first punch, only for the tiger to counter arm to arm.
"I lied," Rath said. He swatted his arm and grabbed the other, holding it still while raising his other arm with the closed fist, baking to close before striking.
"You know the difference between me and a pile of boards? BOARDS DON'T HIT BACK!" Rath screamed as he launched a powerful blow to the mercenary's face, sending him flying to the computer systems behind him, setting them ablaze like a band of fireworks.
Seven-Seven got up, hurt, but still ready to fight. He faced the muscular tiger with a venomous disdain. Rath approached him, his smile fading as he popped his knuckles.
"Now," he said, popping his knuckles again, "I'm mad."

Outside the power plant, wrapped around in a lamp post like a twizzler stood the defeated mercenary.
Gwen looked up at the villain with indifference, a thought coming into her mind. A joke…a very dry joke. So dry it makes Dad jokes sound fatherly.
"Well, I guess that about wraps things up!" Gwen quipped.
Ben, Kevin, Akame, and Sheele had blank stares, each of them had no idea how to react. Akame mostly would have the blankest of stares out of all of them, but even with her, she couldn't help but cringe at the joke. She wanted to tell her, but she did not want to scathe her relationship with the young sorceress. She was careful around Ben back when he was in Night Raid, and that was when his powers were still new to her.
They still were, but at this point, she was used to them. Virtually nothing hardly surprises her about Ben that much. Hardly. She was still new to this world, so there was still room for surprises.
Sheele, though, did not know what Gwen was trying to accomplish here. She just took one look at her beloved and that was it. They all just shrugged and walked back to the car.
"Oh come on! There's a lamppost wrapped around him!" Gwen whined.
"Yeah, we know. Nice try," Akame said.
"Nice try indeed, Gwen," said a thick British voice from the void. A bright blue light quickly flashed in the night, when it quickly died stood a man of slender build with fair skin, gray eyes, and black hair, wearing his traditional white lab coat over his white shirt, brown vest, and black tie with his iconic signature green goggles around his neck.
"Professor Paradox!" Ben named.
"Hello, Ben, Gwen, Kevin; and the fellow Night Raiders, Akame and Sheele," he greeted, "How are you, all?"
"Adapting well," Akame said.
"Learning new things," Sheele said with a cheeky smile.
"Very good!" Paradox said.
"I'm still grappling with the fact that Ben managed to bag two assassins while I…"
Gwen cleared her throat, her venomous glare glued to Kevin, cuing him to shut it,
"Oh…um…did I say anything?"
"Wait, normally you won't appear unless the universe is in stake," Gwen said, "What's up?"
"Observational as always, Gwen; that kind of skill would serve you greatly one day; though, I am here not based on the state of the cosmos, as strange as my presence would be," Paradox said.
"If not the universe, then what?" Ben asked.
"I'm only here to drop something off for the young ladies, and a warning," he said, the ending pitch was served more with a serious tone; "Beware of the Ice Queen and her Warring Lich King, let not life be held astray by power and anger," Paradox warned.
This threat did not go unnoticed to the Night Raiders. They took mental notes on the threats; it was something to which they would have to discuss amongst themselves.
"The Ice Queen? Esdeath? She's…she's here?" Sheele thought.
"This is bad. If she's here, then that means it could be trouble. This world is…roughly peaceful. If she gets her hands on this world's advanced technology, nothing will stop her, but…something is biting me and I just cannot get it out of my head," Akame asked, "Wait…when Ben and I merged with each other, I sent her to the Null Void. Could it be possible that she somehow found a way back, and clawed her way to his world?"
"We may need to find the others. If she's here, then it's safe to assume our old team might have found a way back here somehow," Sheele said.
"Also, I gave you all a little gift, if you all gonna be here for a while. Just don't open the package until the Holidays! Ta-ta!" Paradox said as he flashed away in a bright blue light, confusing the dynamic quintet.
Confused and lost, Sheele turned to Ben, who also shared that same sentiment. "He's well versed," Sheele said.
"What you are feeling is an everlasting illness called an acute discombobulation; get used to it, your everlasting wanting to hit the guy would increase. Trust me," Kevin said walking back to his car. "Oh, and there is no cure when you are near him. The only treatment is hitting him."
"Strike first, ask questions later?" Akame asked, following Kevin.
"Why would I ask questions after I punch someone out?" Kevin asked.
"You kinda remind me of a person I know," Akame said.
"Guys wait up!" panted a child nearby. Ben, Gwen, and Kevin turned to the child, who wore similar clothing to Ben.
This child was a fair complexioned kid at 10 years old with light brown hair and brown eyes. He wore a green hoodie with a white 10 on the black circle behind the straps, (Almost matching Ben's jacket) and a white shirt. He also wore dark green cargo pants and black shoes.
However, to Sheele and Akame, this…confused them a bit. This was completely new territory. They were aware Ben was well-known, but he didn't mention he was worshipped amongst the young.
"Hey Jimmy! Been awhile!" Ben smiled, "you wanna cover this for your website?"
"Guys, I got real news! - uh…" his eyes darted to Akame and Sheele who leaned in on the news. He quickly shook it off, probably fangirls.
"Spill it," Kevin said.
"Sorry…um yeah! I got real news!" He said eating clumps of peanuts from his snack bag. "I intercepted the vanguard of an alien invasion, and stopped it before it even start!" the boy named Jimmy said, earning some dissenting looks from Ben, Gwen, and Kevin; but curious looks from Akame and Sheele.
"Really?" Gwen asked with a skeptic tone in her voice.
A boy so young intercepted a massive invasion. Strange, but he does happen to believe what he was saying.
Though, it could be a trick. Mind control maybe? Though, it does not roll out the possibility that he did manage to intercept an invasion.
I mean, I did manage to fall in lo…I mean come to respect the man who walks among heroes. Ben saving the world at the age of 10 with a magical watch sounds far-fetched, even down to the round looney to some folks, but I've seen stranger, been through some strange tides.
"Yep, I think I might have defeated the alien plant monster in its cave, then staggered outside," he continued, pulling Akame further into the conspiracy "...but I kind of blacked out during the battle." Jimmy explained.
"Video or didn't happen," Kevin asked.
"I don't know, Kevin. He truly believes what he is saying. He could be telling the truth," Akame said as Kevin sighed.
Akame knelt down to the young boy, "Was there something strange that you might have picked up. Anything to show?"
"Well, on my way, I saw a belt," Jimmy said.
This caught Ben's and Sheele's attention; however, it wasn't enough to pull in Gwen nor Kevin.
As quartet conversed with the young journalist, Sheele walked over to the trunk, slightly open and was about to close the trunk; that was until she saw a hint of a purple light shining through the open crack. She opened it and saw something that she never would have thought would have crashed into someone's trunk…especially Kevin's.
There, she saw her Imperial Arms, Extase, her legendary large pair of scissors with the panda bear sticker on its pin, just lying buried beneath used tires, car tools, and alien tech.
"No way!" Sheele said, her eyes becoming stars as she immediately pulled out her Imperial Arms to hug it like it was an old friend coming back to reunite with her.
"Yeah…I'm out!" Kevin said, retreating back to his car.
"I have tons of studying to do, Jimmy. Maybe next conspiracy," Gwen added.
Jimmy frowned, seeing how Gwen and Kevin were bailing on him.
Ben looked around and thought a bit until Akame intercepted, "It doesn't hurt to check it out. What if he's right?" Akame asked.
Ben took a deep breath, "Alright, I'll check it out." Ben replied, he then turned to Kevin and Gwen.
"Hey, my car is still at the shop, do you mind giving us a ride?"
And like a true friend, Kevin floored it outta there, leaving Akame and Ben with Jimmy. Ben groaned, as Akame patted him on the back.
"You've done well," Akame said with a cheeky smile.
BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10
They walked up the hill on the outskirts of town. Akame was used to the grueling walks though. She carried the young boy on her back as they journeys to the destination to where he claimed that he fought the alien invaders.
Ben, even though he wants to admit it or not, kinda adopted Leone's law: if Akame trusts someone, it is safe to believe them, and unlike Ben she had a very strong judgement of character.
Though, that kind of judgement was misread when she first met Ben.
So…that was an outlier. She wasn't perfect, but when she saw someone with a good heart and to whom they believed what they were saying, she would follow.
It was easy for her to determine who was a phony and who was real. She would not say it outright to whom the phony was. It was either met with absolute trust or being cut down to ribbons.
When they made it to the cave, Akame's eyes rose a bit as Jimmy climbed down her back.
"Akame, stay here and protect Jimmy, I'll check this out myself," Ben ordered.
Akame wrapped her arms around Jimmy as she nodded to Ben.
"Be careful," Akame said.
He brought out his flashlight and walked right in. Instinctually, she would walk right in to try to protect Ben, however, he entrusted a child in her care, so that kinda overrode her instincts.
"Your name's Akame?" Jimmy asked.
Akame nodded.
"Beautiful name! I'm Jimmy!" Jimmy introduced. "Are you…scared?"
"Always," she said with a monotonous tone in her voice, accompanied with a blank stare, her eyes locked to the cave.
"Come on in, you guys!" Ben said. Akame turned to Jimmy and offered her hand to the poor boy. She grasped it as they followed each other down to the cave.
Akame and Jimmy walked down the cave together; Akame started to doubt his story, starting to believe that it was a night terror or a lucid dream of some kind.
Though, all the evidence started to point out that he may be telling the truth. There were slight scratches here and there on the walls. Small stuff.
She looked up above the roof of the cave. More claw marks and some slithering skid marks here and there.
They weren't marked like a permanent marker on a chalkboard, but they were subtle enough for her to get curious.
"Claw marks?" Akame said. "Claw marks are pretty common in caves. Bears maybe…but unlike bear claw marks, these marks were smaller…and deeper."
When they reached the deep belly of the cave, Ben flashed his light on the duo. "Looks like you held the line against the alien invasion," Ben said.
Akame stood silent, just watching, observing as she looked around.
"Y-b-b-but it was here! Like a pod, or a bulb or something! From space!" Jimmy pleaded as he searched around frantically, looking for what he described. An alien plant monster. There was no evidence, no marks, no footprints. Nothing.
"Sometimes, when I eat late at night, I have nightmares so real, I wake up hitting the Ultimatrix," Ben said, trying to de-escalate the situation.
"You kinda do that…on most days," Akame noted in her mind.
"It really happened!" Jimmy argued.
"One time, I thought I saw Vilgax hiding in my closet. It was one of Grandpa Max's extra shirts," Ben said, suspiciously backing away from Jimmy when he held his bags of peanuts.
This did not leave Akame's line of sight. Her left brow raised as her eyes were glued to Ben. Maybe it was the fact that he was trying to placate the young man, at least from what she thought.
As Ben started to talk Jimmy down about the whole charade, Akame gathered mental notes.
One: above her, she saw a strange hole above. Fresh, not old. Dust comes out here and there.
Two: Ben barely looked around the area without any deducing the fact that there were some claw marks here and there. Normally, this wasn't something Ben would miss.
Then came the pop fly; Jimmy made a friendly offer to Ben to have some of his peanuts. A quiet, friendly gesture. It was something to which wouldn't bother Akame…until:
"No thanks, I'm allergic, let's get you home." Ben said, dismissing him. This caught her off guard.
"Ben just had peanut brittle mint cherry smoothie last week. Something is not right here," Akame said, looking up at the freshly made hole above her.
Author's note: Heyo! So basically, I'm just gonna cut it here. Seeming that it is enough for the day. Looks like we are gonna head on to the cave and finally find out what is going on. Something about a belt, and a conspiracy that Night Raid could be in Ben's world. Thing is, how did they get there? Was it through Paradox, or through other means? Anyway, with that said, if you guys enjoyed this chapter as much as I did, please let me know in the comment box down below!
Also shouts out to Toy2711, my co-writer and editor for editing this chapter!
