Scene 1
Evening, August 19, 1005 CE – Valka's Household

Zephyr glanced out her grandmother's window again.

Valka
Zephyr, please come and eat.

The two-year-old—who would turn three on the eleventh of November—sighed and walked over to the table.

Zephyr
I miss Mommy.

Valka
Don't worry, little one. She's alright.

Valka lied. The last news she'd received about Astrid hadn't been good.

Valka
Your father said that once your sibling is born, he'll come to get you.

Zephyr pouted slightly and took a bite of her lamb chop. They continued eating in silence—until a knock sounded at the door, followed by it opening.

Hiccup, 29, stepped in. He looked tired, but his face wore a smile.

Hiccup
Can I come in?

Zephyr jumped out of her seat and ran to him. He caught her in a warm hug.

Zephyr
Daddy!

Valka stood and walked over to her son.

Valka
How is she?

Hiccup (carrying Zephyr)
Resting. She gave birth this afternoon. It's a boy. Fishlegs thinks she'll make a full recovery now—but it was... intense.

Zephyr (eyes wide)
I have a baby brother?!

Hiccup (smiling)
You sure do.

Zephyr
Yay! Is Mommy okay?

Hiccup
She is now. Do you want to go see your new brother?

Zephyr (clapping)
Yes! Yes!

Valka smiled, placing a hand on Hiccup's shoulder.

Valka
I'll wait to visit the wee babe once Astrid's feeling better.

Hiccup nodded and, with Zephyr riding on his shoulders, headed for home.

Scene 2
Evening, August 19, 1005 CE – Haddock Household – Hiccup and Astrid's Room

At the door to their bedroom, Hiccup set Zephyr down gently.

Hiccup
Okay, Zephyr. You need to be quiet now. Mommy and the baby are both really tired, alright?

Zephyr nodded solemnly—but bounced on her toes with excitement. Hiccup opened the door and stepped inside, Zephyr following close behind.

Astrid, 29, lays in bed—pale, exhausted, but fully aware of her daughter entering the room.

Astrid (reaching out)
Zephyr…

Zephyr (running to her)
Mommy!

Hiccup (gently shushing her)
Shhh...

Astrid
Would you like to meet your baby brother?

Zephyr nodded eagerly. Astrid smiled and glanced at the cradle beside the bed. Hiccup walked over, gently lifted the tiny infant, and brought him to Astrid.

Hiccup
Zephyr, this is Nuffink.

Zephyr looked at the baby with wide green eyes—then squealed with delight.

Zephyr (holding out her arms, pleading)
Can I hold him? Pwease? Pwease? Pwease?

Hiccup grinned and looked to Astrid, who nodded softly.

Hiccup (demonstrating)
Hold your arms like this, Zeph.

Zephyr mimicked him carefully. Astrid guided her daughter's arms and placed Nuffink gently into them, supporting the baby's head.

Nuffink stirred, opening his eyes. Green eyes met blue.

In that moment, Zephyr decided something important:
Nuffink would be her best friend forever.
