At Sabaody, everyone watching the battle unfold on the view screens was utterly outraged.
"What happened to the picture?"
"We want to see more!"
"Hurry, get it fixed!"
"It looks like they're having problems with the video transponder snails. Maybe they got blown up in the crossfire or something."
However, the pirate captains of the Worst Generation watched from the background, and every single one of them wasn't fooled by the sudden breakdown in transmission. Instead, they watched as the people began yelling at the Marines stationed there.
"Is it true that Stoick and Navy made some kind of deal?"
"Did Stoick really sell out his allies?"
"We all want to know how the war is going to end!"
"Come on, the whole world is at stake!"
"Just when I for the Navy couldn't sink any lower," said Dagur. "It's been nothing but a sideshow until now."
"The only reason we came back to Saboday was to watch the war," said one of Apoo's men. "Of course, the snails malfunctioned."
Apoo shook his head. "Are you really buying that?"
"What?! You mean you don't?"
"Of course not," said Apoo. "What are you stupid? There's only one way the Navy would allow that feed to cut out. They don't want the world to see what they're about to do."
Bonney was crying her eyes out for some reason.
"You okay, Captain Bonney?" one of her men asked.
"Go away! Just shut up!"
Law and his crew had decided to leave for some unknown reason.
"Stoick sold out his allies; what a load of crap," Law laughed. "The man is a living legend because all of us pirates respect him. Let her set sail, Bepo."
"Aye, aye, Captain!" Bepo nodded.
"You with us, Bart?"
Bart merely nodded.
Hawkins was busy looking through his cards, trying to ascertain the current situation at Marineford.
"Yes, sir, you heard me right," said a reporter over a transponder snail. "Seems like there's no chance of recovering the signal. I have no idea what is happening at Marineford right now."
Hawkins then drew out a card which showed the Grim Reaper.
At Marineford, Magnus's attack was utterly devastating to Stoick's men. Even if the attack missed them, the heat was still melting the ice and boiling the water.
"It's melting!"
"It's so warm!" said a pirate, but he quickly tried to climb out of the water. "No, it's hot! I'm burning!"
"The lava is boiling the sea!"
"Hurry, and get onto the ice!"
"Hey, look!"
Everyone saw the cannons on the walls were now pointing straight down at them, and seconds later, they fired upon them. Some of the pirates headed straight towards the bay head, but they, too, found that blocked by the Pacifistas.
"They're blocking us in!"
Pacifistas then fired upon them.
Many pirates were now aiming their bazookas at the wall, hoping to bring them down.
"We've got to be able to take down this wall somehow!"
Hiccup had lost Astrid in the chaos, and everything was happening so fast he had no time to think.
Stoick clenched his fist and used his powers against the wall. His attack caused the wall to buckle, sending a powerful shockwave into the Plaza, blowing away the Marines standing behind it.
"Stoick!" said Sander as he held his ground.
However, even Stoick's attack could not cause the wall to fall; all that it left was a massive dent in its surface, surprising his men.
"How is it still standing after a shot from Stoick? What is that thing made of?"
Stoick himself was surprised, and his frustration was beginning to mount.
"All right, let's hit them where it really hurts," said Magnus.
He then released another volley of lava fists and, this time, landed a direct hit upon the Skullcrusher.
"That bastard aimed straight for the Skullcrusher! We've got to put out the fire!"
Everyone on the ship quickly grabbed the bucket of water and began to douse the flames, but they were too big and far too many to put out.
"All hands on deck!"
"Grab a bucket and put it out!"
"We can't let her sink! It just won't be the same ceiling the sea again without the Skullcrusher!"
"Stoick, what's your legacy? Go up in flames," said Magnus, firing a more devastating attack upon the Skullcrusher.
There was no way the pirates could save the ship now as he began to burn and sink.
"The Skullcrusher… it-it's gone!"
"Nooo! Damn, those monsters! That shit was the only hope we knew!"
"Damnit, don't give up now! The Skullcrusher has been carrying the weight of the Hairy Hooligan Pirates for decades!"
However, regretfully, there was nothing anyone could do aside from watch as the ship they had sailed on for 30 years began to burn ash.
"I am sorry, old friend," said Stoick.
"We've got to get applause before it gets any worse!"
Ace just sat there and watched as his friends were being decimated.
"Listen to that," said Gustav. "What the heck do you think is going on in there?"
"You don't even need to see to know," said Sven. "They can't advance, they can't retreat, and now they've got death raining down upon them from above. Those steel circling walls are none other than the walls of the Hairy Hooligan Pirate casket."
'Their casket?' said Gustav.
"The plan is working perfectly," said Sander over the transponder snail. "So we'll proceed. Phase 2 is the immediate execution of Ace D Portgas!"
Naturally, Hiccup and the Hairy Hooligan Pirates were shocked upon hearing this. On the other hand, Ace sat there complacently, expecting the inevitability.
"We've got to go up there and stop them!"
"But how? We're completely trapped."
"No, there's still a way out. Just look ahead and see."
The pirates looked ahead and saw the opening that Oars had given them.
"The path that Oars made."
"But that's like a death trap. That's exactly where the Navy is expecting us to go."
Hiccup was helping Astrid up; the two of them had been blown back by the campfire.
"You okay?" Hiccup asked.
"I'm good, but what do we do now?" Astrid asked.
"We save Ace," said Hiccup simply.
"The more we think, the more time we waste!"
"We must save Ace, even if it means our death."
Hiccup suddenly appeared out of nowhere and landed right in front of them. Then, without saying a single word, he charged right in and was soon followed closely by Astrid.
"Hiccup?"
"We're right here behind you, kid!"
The Hairy Hooligan Pirates followed Hiccup's lead and charged straight towards Oars.
"They're running straight into the line of fire," said Mala.
"Not yet," said Sander as the Marines pointed their cannons at the advancing pirates. "Let them get as close as possible." The Marines waited until the pirates got closer. "Now!"
The Marines then opened fire.
"There's only one way to and one way out," said Mala. "Where else is the Navy going to point their cannons? It's a slaughterhouse."
"Fire!" Sander ordered.
They kept firing upon the pirates as they got closer and closer, but despite all the campfire, they kept pushing forward.
"We're coming, Ace!"
Ace was completely heartbroken by the scene before him, and try as he might, he can break his shackles. All he could do was watch as his friends were blasted by cannon fire.
"We're picking them off one by one," Moria tried gleefully.
It was a complete slaughter between the cannon fire before them and the lava fists above. Despite this, Hiccup kept moving forward and didn't even notice that he had lost Astrid in the chaos.
The smoke and ash were stinging his eyes, and he was so exhausted he felt as if he was going to pass out at any moment. However, he kept on looking ahead and could see Ace barely through the smoke.
"I can see him," he said. He kept on walking forward, ignoring the pain throughout his entire body. "I'm here!"
"And fire!" Sander ordered.
The Marines fired another volley of cannon fire, and this time, Hiccup was blown back. He then found everything going black and then landed in the water.
"Hiccup Haddock!" Mala yelled.
"Hiccup!" Jinbe yelled.
"No, Hiccup!" Astrid cried.
Hiccup found himself sinking; even if he could swim, he was too weak to attempt it.
"Hiccup!" Ace roared.
Many of the Hairy Hooligan Pirates were on the ground, either dead or unconscious. Their ships were burning and still trapped inside the bay, with the ice beneath their feet beginning to melt. The Marines then began to move into the bay to deal with the stragglers.
"All right, shoot any pirate who climbs up Oars!"
Ace was in total anguish watching his adoptive father, his friends and even his brother fighting for their lives to save him. He cursed at his stubbornness in refusing to listen to Stoick.
"Prepare for the execution," said Sander.
The executioners were just about to prepare for the execution when suddenly, the entire ground shook. Everyone looked shocked at the source of the noise coming from Oars.
"I here… Ace…" he said weakly.
Ace lifted his head and was utterly shocked to see that Oars was still alive. He began to lift up his body as he tried to stand, surprising the Marines. Even repositioning his hand caused a massive shockwave that blew the Marines away.
The shaking could be felt all the way into the sea, and Hiccup's eyes shot right open. Naturally, he found himself shocked to discover that he was underwater. He quickly held his breath but could not reach the surface. Fortunately, Jinbe had dived into the water after him and managed to grab him, pulling him back towards the surface.
Oars was slowly picking himself up, and the Marines stared in shock.
"How is Little Oars still alive?"
"Did nobody check his pulse?"
"Get away from Ace!" Oars roared. He then looked directly at Ace. "I'm going to save you." He then began to reach out towards him. "Ace, my friend."
"Oars," Ace gasped.
"I won't die until you're safe," Oars vowed.
"Oars, no!" Ace cried.
Stoick smiled happily, surprised. "I'll be."
"Oars Junior is still alive?"
The pirates then cheered, and Oars' crew began to cry upon seeing their captain alive and well.
"Captain…"
"Now that's a pirate."
"Little Oars," said Squall.
"We're ready to follow, captain," said a voice behind him.
Squall didn't need to turn around at the newsstand behind him was his crew. When he finally did look at them, he saw his first mate presenting him with his sword.
"Get back in the fight," he said.
"Even now?" said Squall, stunned.
With tears in his eyes, he reached out and grasped his sword.
Jinbe had finally managed to pull Hiccup to the surface, who was now gasping for breath.
"No more falling into the sea, all right," said Jinbe.
"You're just so reckless," said Mala.
"Come on, Hiccup, you're smarter than this," Astrid scolded.
"Prepare to open fire, men," said Sander.
The Marines were pointing their weapons directly at Oars.
"Now!"
The Marines then fired everything they had at Oars.
"Oars, stop!" Ace begged.
"They'll kill him for real this time!"
"Oh no!"
Oars was still severely injured from earlier, and now he was being bombarded with cannons and gunfire.
"Oars, please!" Ace begged.
"We've got to do something, and we've got to do it fast," said Hiccup. "There's no time left. They've already issued the order to kill Ace."
"Yes, but we need a strategy," Jinbe argued.
Hiccup looked at Jinbe. "Jinbe, I need a favour from you."
Oars was completely worn out and panting heavily. "Ace."
"Well, he's a tough one," said Kia.
"He is just about dead; keep shooting!" said a Marine.
Kia then stepped forward. "Save your bullets, boys. I'll finish him off."
"Admiral?"
"We've dealt with enough setbacks," said Kia as he raised his finger. "We need to get this execution on the road. A headshot seems appropriate. Quick. Easy. And 100% effective."
Everyone could see a glow from inside the Plaza and instantly knew it was Kia, ready to deal the final blow to Oars.
"Oars!"
"Run, Captain Oars!"
Even if Oars wanted to, he couldn't run; he had no place to run to and was still missing a leg.
"Please, no!" Ace begged.
"Say good night, big guy," said Kia.
He was just about to blast Oars when Jinbe made his move.
"Ocean Shoulder Throw!" he yelled, grasping the water.
Then, with all his strength, a stream of water shot out from the bay, and everyone watched as it went over the wall. It then crashed into the ground right in front of the three admirals, and they saw that there was none other than Hiccup standing in front of them, holding a broken mast under his arms.
"Hiccup!" Ace gasped.
All eyes immediately fell upon Hiccup, surprised he could fly over the wall. He looked worn out, but a single glance at his eyes told them that he was willing to run another thousand miles it was to save his brother.
"I see, so you found a way up," said Asmund.
"You have done quite well, child of Stoick and Valka," said Magnus. "You're standing tall now."
"Ah, youth," said Kia, looking slightly amused. "So much fire."
The Hairy Hooligans were somewhat surprised by what they had just witnessed.
"That's Hiccup, who went over the wall. Stoick's son and Ace's brother."
Stoick smiled proudly. "Well done, son."
The three admirals merely looked at Hiccup undaunted.
"I do respect your tenacity, kid," said Magnus, "but it is not enough."
"That's right," Asmund nodded, "it's a fluke that you got this far, and you're too green to go any further."
"Whatever gives you the idea you can defeat us?" Kia asked.
Hiccup padded heavily but wasn't looking at the admirals; his full attention was on the scaffold where Ace was currently chained up.
"I don't need to defeat you; I just need to get past you," said Hiccup. He then tossed the broken mast towards them. "I won't let you kill Ace!"
"Hiccup just bought us a little time; let's use it well," said Stoick. He then looked up at Oars. "Oars, stay put! I need your help one more time!"
"Sure, Stoick," Oars nodded.
"Sven, the trump card!"
"Yes, sir!" Sven nodded.
"Get ready to move everyone! We're charging straight into the Plaza!"
Asmund used his powers to freeze the mast and return it to Hiccup.
"Plasma Barrage!" Hiccup yelled, transforming into his hybrid form.
He then fired off multiple plasma blasts, which turned the ice chunks and centrepieces flying towards the admirals.
