(Epilogue)
…
I looked calmly at the forest that surrounded me with its colors, inhaling and exhaling the pleasant air. The wind ruffled my hair, which was hardly in a bad state after so many battles. At least I could feel the air on my skin, which was nice, even if it was cold.
"Too bad this moment won't last long. "
*Bang! Stomp.* There was a rumble in the area.
Looking around, I felt like sighing.
More and more enemies were coming out of the forest; not only small fairies that filled the sky with their numbers, but also Yokai of all kinds and nationalities were coming towards me—dozens, hundreds of Yokai. Brightly colored banners with black borders fluttered above them. The wind made them flutter too much for me to see; only the skull symbol was visible as it swarmed over the barely legible silhouette in the darkness of the forest. To the east and north-east, I could see the wild Yokai not holding back their anger at me.
"Let them be angry at me" (smirk). As I looked around, projectiles of all colors flew at me: white, black, yellow... Trees were falling, and fire was spreading in all directions. "You know, flowers want to live too."
I stood still, watching and remembering, making only a barely perceptible movement with my hand, hiding for a while in the shadows, expecting them to find me at the same moment, pulling from my holster pistols black as tar, shining like the light itself, and inserting a clip with a compressed energy charge of a cartridge.
" Now it's time to fight, before... well, that's what it's all about."
I put my hands out in front of me with the loaded weapon. I hold my breath and concentrate, pulling the trigger.
The first shot went off.*
"Here we go." — I said softly into the void.
After the first shot, the battlefield turned into a meat grinder, and I leapt like a wolf, surrounded by the shimmer and whistle of flying spells. Casings rained down on the ground in a desperate stream, the bullets rushing like water in a river. They swung from him, leaping, lunging and recoiling, fierce, eager, merciless, and in vain.
He chopped, attacked, blowing, never pausing, setting the pace. At that moment, a white laser suddenly came from the side, almost disintegrating his arm, and he dropped the pistol from his hand in a shock of pain. "That hurts." — The man calmly put his arm back in the position he thought was right. And the Youkai continued to come, in an indefinable wave, surrounding him, trapping him in a vise.
Deciding to act, not daring to be caught by the wild mob and obviously not wanting to be reduced to dust, he moved upwards. The man leapt into the air, throwing empty magazines to the ground as a distraction.
His blood flowing, his heart hot, he remained in a grin of complete excitement and amusement, completely unaware that he was literally falling apart in the raging torrent of his violence. The corpses of his enemies grew exponentially, perhaps hundreds, perhaps thousands, preventing them from reaching their hated target.
But even that didn't stop them for a millisecond.
They ran, grunted, exploded and finally died by the hundreds, but their spirits only grew stronger with each passing second.
My eyes blurred from the blood that was in my eyes, burning my retinas with its metallic structure.
I fell down with my cloak fluttering, right into the thick of things again with my face no longer so bright, and even my hair was burning like a flame.
The smell in here was terrible.
I pulled out all the new gear, just reinforcing my metal body parts with the new shell, adjusting and adapting to the incessant omnipresent violence around the small, lovely and good-natured forest. "Now I'm screwed."
I go into the system window and spend all my blood and pain system points. Let this world go up in great flames.
*Silk*
At one point he had a small cylindrical box with a small grenade pin in it as if for decoration, but it was a weapon literally behind the mind of mankind.
*Click* — the sound of the click was clearly audible throughout the battlefield.
Without waiting a second, he tosses the grenade straight up into the air and enters full defense, switching on some kind of energy shield waiting for the strange mechanism to activate, but he doesn't stop at just one shield; he switches on up to twenty shields at once.
Raising my hands in the air, I exclaimed, — Friends, there's no need to be angry! We're friends, aren't we? — I shouted into the dome, not expecting any response from them, but just looking at those faces, faces drenched in the blood of their allies and anger that it was impossible not to notice.
Dome after dome broke in a frenzied attack of Youkai brutality.
*...*
Suddenly there was complete silence.
*...*
Neither the sounds of fighting, nor explosions nor screams could be heard anymore, and the reason for that was the light, the light that illuminated the entire ground above the battlefield, breaking through the thick leaves of the trees and scorching the ground.
Glittering and disappearing with an explosion that was inexpressible and unheard, as if the sun itself had fallen. There was no more stomping, no more sound of the wind caressing with its stifling scent of death that hung in the neighborhood.
An empty and lifeless wasteland above a once blooming and full patch of forest.
"Haaaa." — I exhaled.
"This is it. I can stand in such peaceful silence for all eternity, even if the demons torment my soul, tearing and killing the remnants of my identity that is called human. Nothing more. " — I sighed heavily, touching the remnants of my hair. "Damn, bald doesn't look good on me."
"Things could have been different. Too bad the path I've chosen is colored scarlet."
"Maybe in the next life I can be worthy of the title of man."
"It's a shame I can no longer die, no matter how hard I try. I have no choice but to return to a land that rejects my complete coexistence, and I was only a friendly neighbor after all! Once upon a time, maybe I was..."
I squeeze my mechanical arm with such force that it simply breaks from the violent destruction into barely visible shards of steel, falling to the blazing ground.
