They were all staring intently at the map plastered on the board. Moreso than they usually would because they all felt like they were missing something really obvious because they had been going round in circles for hours.

Elgin, their suspect from yesterday, had actually given them some information. Not exactly willingly or knowingly considering they got this map from tailing him, but still. They had been right. Although he was not their unsub, he was definitely in the unsub's sphere of influence. Though they weren't sure if that was knowingly or not. Probably unknowingly, considering how gullible and pliable the man was. That and he was more about talking about conspiracies rather than taking action.

Now, they were trying to take action and figure out exactly what this map was trying to tell them.

"Obviously, these stars have to mean something, right?" JJ asked, turning to Emily.

"People rarely put stars on things they don't care about."

"There's no need for you to be sarcastic."

"Well, there's no need for you to ask a stupid question like that," Emily shot back.

"Enough," Hotch said sharply, making the two fall silent, albeit still glaring at each other.

It had been a long week in this town, and, needless to say, they were all getting on each other's nerves. Emily was barely saying anything that wasn't sarcastic, Reid had officially retreated into himself, JJ was glaring at anyone who looked at her funny, and Morgan, well, Morgan was just being obnoxious None of it was a good combination. They were still working well together. Thankfully, they could at least do that. They were too well trained to do otherwise. But that didn't mean signs of strain were coming through the veneer of professionalism. A veneer that was become thinner by the hour.

"We've already asked about the stars," Emily muttered but didn't snap at JJ any further.

"I just don't want us to miss anything," JJ told him, pointedly not looking at Emily.

"We haven't missed anything! This is literally all we have!"

"And you know going over it again can maybe get more detail, different leads."

"Have you not paid any attention the last few days? What do you think we've been doing?"

"I'm just trying to -"

"Enough!" Hotch said sharply, making them both stop and give him guilty looks.

He brushed away their apologies and redirected them back to the map.

"Stars. Right, we dont have enough information to tell us what they mean. So what do they *not* mean?"

"Well, the stars aren't for what he's already done because the houses are wrong, and he's crossed those ones off. He hasn't got stars beside them." said Emily.

"He hasn't got stars beside them at all," said Reid, looking at the map intently.

"That's what I said."

"No, I mean, he doesn't use stars for the houses he plans to hit at all," he said, scrambling to his feet and jabbing at the map. "See? He obviously has a plan, and he's crossed off the one's he's done, but they don't have stars next to them."

"So, the stars don't necessarily mean that they're next on his list," Derek said, understanding what he was saying.

"I think it's safe to assume that. They're special to him for some reason and aren't going to be hit. Though I suppose there's also the probability of them being a part of some grand finale."

They all took a moment to shudder at the thought. That was definitely something that they wanted to avoid.

"Well, we need to figure out exactly how and why they're special to him before anything of the sort can happen," Hotch told them.

Reid was still looking at the stars, head tilted to one side.

"Got something, Pretty Boy?" Morgan asked.

"There has to be a pattern to them..."

"That's what we've been saying!" Emily said in exasperation, thoroughly fed up with everything and everyone.

"I don't mean they're showing a pattern of behaviour, I mean an actual pattern."

"Reid, the stars look like a child has flung them across it. There's no pattern," Morgan told him.

"Constellation, it's a constellation!"
He exclaimed excitedly, arms flailing as he tried to show them.

All je managed to do was accidentally punch Emily in the arm (making her growl threateningly at him and subsequently making Rossi restrain her as a precaution), nearly stomp on Morgan's foot as he walked across and literally did collide with JJ who didn't move fast enough.

"Spence!"

"Sorry! I'm so sorry," he apologised frantically.

"Have we annoyed you that much that you're trying to take us all out? Morgan joked.

"But if I want to do that, I get told I'm not being a team player and that I'm being ridiculous," Emily complained.

"That's because you were sharpening your knife threateningly!"

"I wasn't! I was just sharpening it."

"While pointedly glaring at everyone!"

"That's just how I look."

"Back to the pattern you were seeing," Hotch instructed before it could get any further out of hand.

"Not a pattern, a constellation. Which, I suppose, is a pattern because it's a pattern of stars -"

"Reid!" They all said in exasperation.

He flushed. "Right. Yes. Sorry. The constellation. It's a constellation."

"And I assume which one of them it is will tell us something about his psyche," Rossi prompted.

"It doesn't look like any of the more well-known ones," said JJ. "I know Orion and the Big Dipper."

"I know Casseopeia because it's like a weird W," said Emily. "Oh, and I can identify Libra, but I'm still pissed off that it's in the southern hemisphere." Everyone gave her a weird look. "What? It's my star sign."

"Reid, what constellation is it?" Hotch prompted again, looking tired of all thia nonsense.

"Oh, Auriga."

"Aur- what?" Derek spluttered. "Sounds like a vegetable."

"You're thinking of Arugula," JJ teased.

"Auriga. Or, in English, the Charioteer," Reid explained.

"Charioteer. Does he think he's leading the charge against something?" Rossi asked, keen to get back into the profile.
