Chapter 6: Dungeons, Dungeons and More Dungeons: Romance Edition

(Here Comes The Sun- The Beatles)

As usual, Ford and Dipper chose their characters of Rowan the Wise and Denis the Exciteable, an Elf Wizard and Elf fighter. Elizabeth was Larissa of Rosewood, governess and personal bard of Princess Pacifica IV of the Duchy of Cinnamon. Larissa's minifig was a buxom brunette in a glorified fur bikini with a longbow. Dipper was the DM:

It was the beginning of summer in the Duchy of Cinnamon. The peasants, under mind control from Probabilitor, were revolting. Manors were burning, the merchants' guilds were closing city gates, and the nobility were trying to escape. King Good-for-Nothing and Queen Yes-Dear were frightened at the idea of being potentially overthrown, demanded that Larissa of Rosewater, the royal bard and governess of to Princess Pacifica IV, flee to safety. Pacifica was bored with palace life, and Larissa had taught her how to use a crossbow. Liz, roll for initiative. [Liz rolled a 4, which meant NPC Pacifica had a 4 bonus to her attack power, providing a nice boost to her stat block.]

Larissa curtsied to her princess, "My lady, we must hurry. Peasants are at the gates!" Pacifica is excited, being cooped up in the opulent palace has left her rebellious and bored. Larissa heeds her ward's adolescence ennui, they need to get moving! They flip a coin [Liz flips a quarter] and it lands on heads. Down the back stair case is chosen as their means of escape. Larissa bridles two horses, and they fly out the back gates, and are down the road an hour or so when they are stopped by a hot elf and an ugly ogre. What do you do? [Liz chose to ask why they were blocking the road.]

Halt fair maidens. We are the servants of Probabilitor, and he's looking for a bride. The ogre moves towards you, but- Pacifica shoots her crossbow and it lands in the ogre's large toenail on his left foot. [Liz rolled her attack die for a damage hit of 7 hit points.] The giant ogre cries like a giant baby and hops around like the world is about to end. The elf prepares a spell to attack, but you counter by summoning a shield of shielding spell. [Liz rolled her defense die with a total of 12 with an armor bonus of 2, save!] You cast the lux trifecta spell [attack die total of 22 with a 3-bonus fire damage for a 25-hit point total.] It's successful, the hot elf has sustained second degree burns on his face, torso and left arm. You spur the horses on, with both the elf and ogre hot on your tail.

Before you get an half mile down the road, the still smoking elf ambushes you with a thorn arrow barrage, causing your horses to buck. [Damage received to group- Liz loses 24 hit points, the horses take 30 hit point damage, and Pacifica takes 2 hit point damage.] Your horses are dead, but Larissa has enough strength to grab the basic supplies, but you and Pacifica slip and tumble down a grass embanked some 100 feet up. Larissa takes [saving throw of 6] 3 hp in damage, leaving her bloodied and bruised. Pacifica helps you into a sitting position, but you are in dire need of medical attention. [Don't worry, Liz. You'll kick ass soon enough.]

Meanwhile, Rowan the Wise and his capable apprentice, Denis the Excitable, are patrolling the woods for Probabilitor and his lackeys, when they see an unknown person. Denis the Excitable readies his dagger, when who should appear but Pacifica IV, crossbow drawn and ready to fire. "Who are you," she demands haughtily. Denis stands on a stump and heroically (in his opinion) announces, "I am Denis the Excitable, apprentice to Rowan the Wise." Pacifica starts looking for him, where is he? Rowan the Wise appears, without a dramatic entrance. He greets Pacifica, but adds, "Where is my beloved?"

"Beloved?"

"He and Larissa of Rosewood are betrothed to be married, and they cannot keep their hands off of one another."

"Denis, this is not the time to be discussing mine and Larissa's love life!"

Pacifica rolls her eyes, and leads them back to where Larissa is sitting under an oak tree. Ford gasps, kneels and gives her a healing potion restoring [2d8 roll of 15] 15 hit points. He gathers her into his arms, and carries her back to the cabin, Denis and Pacifica following closely behind.

Larissa rests in bed, while Denis, Pacifica and Rowan eat lunch. Rowan leaves the young teens to talk while he tends to Larissa. He crawls into bed and kisses her gently, brushing stray strands of hair away from her eyes with his calloused hands. She moans softly, nuzzling his familiar warmth. Leaning down, he kisses her gently. Larissa wakes up and smiles softly at him, "I have missed you-"

SQUUEEEEEEE!

The game suddenly broke up when Waddles ran through the den, squealing wildly, chased by Gompers. Liz laughed, "You guys have a pet goat?" Dipper threw up his hands in disgust, "Ugh! Well, there goes our session." Ford patted him on the shoulder, they could always pick up again later. Mabel came in, holding a pair of matching tuxedos, "Gompers, come back!" Liz asked her what was going on with the suits. Wide eyed, Mabel launched into the romance of Waddles and Gompers last summer. Liz thought this was adorable and happily volunteered to help. Mabel dragged her away, leaving Ford and Dipper to clean up the mess.

The second anniversary of Waddles and Gompers had to be one of the cutest moments Elizabeth Conner (-Pines) had seen in her life. Using copious amounts of duct tape and string, Mabel successfully attached Waddles and Gompers into a sort of pig-goat creature. "Where should I put the rings," Mabel asked, indicating the two glow bracelets she was holding. Liz looked at them, "Maybe on the ears?" Mabel tried it, one around Gomper's right horn and the other around Waddles' right ear. Perfect! Gompers gnoshed away on some grass, while Waddles grunted contentedly as Mabel declared them husband and husband. She smacked Waddles and off they ran, "Thanks, Aunt Liz."

Liz grinned, "Hey, anytime!" It was about now Stan pulled into the parking lot with his car full of different car parts, apparently for repairing Liz's Kia Forte. "Hey girls, gimme a hand unloading the car, will ya? I wanna get started on fixing Liz's car," he told them. Mabel made a face, automotive repair was something he had no interest in. She excused herself to see what her brother was doing, which left Stan and Elizabeth to do all the unloading.

"A city girl like you know anything about fixing cars?"

"I know how to change a flat tire and charge the engine. Does that count?"

"Sweet Moses, that's just the basics. But, you are pretty good in a tight spot, according to Sixer, so show me what you got, toots." He gave her a friendly grin that reminded her of Han Solo a bit. Liz grinned and accepted the challenge. She popped the trunk, and got the spare tire out, placing it next to the other three Stan had gotten. Using a foot powered Jack, she got the car off the ground far enough to sit down and use a wrench to remove the lug nuts keeping the tire in place. Once that was taken care of, she rolled the dead wheel off before installing the new one, secure the lug nuts and checked the tire pressure. She lowered the jack and moved onto the other tires, moving around the car in a clockwise direction motion.

She worked diligently, without complaint, and performed in a practical manner. Stan was impressed; Liz knew her stuff. Once the tires were changed, onto the engine. Popping the hood, her eyes widened when she saw the blackened battery. That was going to have to be replaced. "Yeesh, the magnet did a number on your transmission. Have to say though, you're a pretty good mechanic, Liz." She gave a him a hug and Stan blushed.

After she took a shower, she asked Ford about his plans were for the evening. Ford opened a beer and gazed off into the distance as they sat on the porch. "We could go out to dinner and dancing," he suggested shyly. Liz's eyes sparkled, "Really?" Ford gave her a gentle peck, "My dear, it will our best date we've had yet." She squealed happily and hugged him tightly. Liz ran back downstairs, to find a dress. She had a navy knee length blue dress with large embroidered daisies on the right hand corner and one thick shoulder strap, that would work with black ballet flat and nude tights.

Ford was in the attic, looking for his mother's wedding band when he caught Stan watching him intently. He shook his head before asking, "Don't you think it's a bit, y'know, early, to be popping the question to Liz? Don't get me wrong, you two were made for each other, but she's been here less than a week. We don't know what she is, and you haven't exactly told her about you and Bill, as one sided as that was. She deserves the truth, you know? Have you considered she may want to convert to Judaism?"

Ford heard his brother before sitting down on Mabel's bed, staring at the ring sitting in his hand. "I have given it a lot of thought, Stanley. I love Liz more than I ever thought possible, she holds my heart. We're not getting married, this is a promise ring. I'll ask her to marry me after she's been here a while, I want to make it right."

Stan grinned at him, "Go get her, Sixer."
