"Ugh this sucks!" Laura complained as she walked into the house with Max and slouched in the kitchen chairs. "I knew they would sell out, with everything that happened... I'm sorry Max." As she sighed.
"I know, was hoping to see at least Whitney live at least once and finally had the money to go see her..." Max now sighed with her friend placing her chin on her fist.
"Hello ladies!" Steve said happily as he jumped off the last step of the stairs leading into the kitchen. He then frowned seeing his wife and her best friend looking down. "Why down in the dumps my love?" Steve questioned coming behind Laura, leaning down to kiss the top of her head. Then sat next to her at the front of the table looking at both women.
Laura looked at him with big sad eyes. "Hey Babes... just disappointed that I might never see Whitney Houston in concert. She'll be here in three weeks and thought Max and I still thought we had time to get tickets but we were so busy with wedding planning that we forgot..." Laura then gave Steve a warm smile. "Oh well maybe we can sit outside of the stadium and listen to the concert that way." Then she got up and went to the fridge to get something to drink.
Steve grinned from ear to ear as Max frowned at her weird friend. He got up and pulled out something out of his back pocket. "You mean these tickets?" Steve held out six tickets.
Max shot up as Laura quickly closed the fridge door and hurried to her husband. "Are you serious? How?"
"Well I remember you and Max said how much you wanted to see Whitney in concert, and as much I don't like using my local celebrity status, I used it this time. I was able to get second row seats and vip backstage passes..." Steve told his wife and her best friend as he smiled pulling out the backstage passes and handing them and the tickets to Laura.
"Dang Urkel, you did it again. Don't know how but you did with Johnny Gill, and you knowing Johnny Gill, you got us to see New Edition. Then you had Black Street perform at your wedding to surprise Laura, and now Whitney..." Max said with a smile as her eyes were big looking at the tickets and backstage pass.
"What can I say I love impressing my girl!" Steve said with a big grin raising his eyebrows, then gave Laura a wink.
"Yeah ya do!" Laura smiled back with a wink also, pulling herself into Steve's arms and giving him a kiss on the lips. Before their kiss became heated and Laura would want to drag them into their temporary bedroom, she broke the kiss and looked at her husband. "You keep topping them too Babes. But ya know you didn't have to. I would have survived not seeing her. But love it."
The night of the concert, Laura was in heaven. She sang her heart out and cried as Whitney was right in front of her. Laura belted out along with Whitney and the rest of the crowd "I Will Always Love You," to "How Will I Know." Steve noted that he had never seen Laura cry and smile for so long. She did at their wedding but this was a different feeling for Laura.
And when it came time to meet Whitney, Laura was almost speechless and was beyond star stuck but it was one of the best nights of her lives. But to show appreciation towards Steve. She made sure when they got home that night, Laura gave Steve his own little private concert and how much she loved him over and over again.
