Tricky Turnabout
Three days have passed since Reaper's last appearance.
People were still afraid to log in to New Link VRAINS due to potentially encountering Reaper. Even SOL Tech warned that if you log in, it would be better if you are with a group rather than alone. However, even with that effort, New LINK VRAINS had lost almost half of the usual online activity and login traffic.
There were even effects in the real world. People who had unfortunate encounters with Reaper couldn't live normally like they did before, whether because they lost their confidence or became depressed.
Unfortunately, one of the affected people was Reaper's last victim and our hero's ally, Fate Kid. He was an ordinary 12-year-old boy with short black hair, red eyes, and light skin.
He was wearing a blue blazer, matching colored uniform pants, a white dress shirt, and a red necktie. He walked slowly yet moodily, and he looked down constantly while walking.
"Hey, Toshi!" The boy turned around to see three kids in the same school uniform.
One was a boy with curved black hair, three spikes on his head, and dark blue eyes. Another one was also a boy but much more prominent in size and a little bit taller than the rest. He had a small black dot on his eyes and a little dark green ahoge. The last one was a girl with bowl-cut brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a bunny hair clip. She wore a buttoned red blazer and a red skirt instead.
"Hey, let's hang out and duel," the big boy suggested.
"Yeah, Toshi! That will help you cheer yourself up, and I have some new strategy I am dying to try out!" exclaimed the other boy.
"Why do you say?" the girl asked.
Kuni looked saddened as he clenched his fists. "I… I'm sorry. I can't!"
Kuni ran off, crying as he ran past some walkers by.
"Hey, Toshi!" the chubby boy shouted. "Geez, what is up with him?"
"He's been down for three days now," the other boy said.
"It must be because of how he, you know…." The girl said, making the other boys listen closely. "That he lost to Reaper."
"Right…" The boys nodded.
"I just hope he gets better. At this rate, his grade will go down," the girl stated, looking worried.
"Yeah. We go to DCDA," the fat boy said.
"Den City Dual Academy, one of the most prestigious and top dueling schools in the city and the country," said the other boy. "I wonder if there is any way to help Kuni regain his confidence."
"That's gonna be hard. A lot of people who dueled that Reaper guy became super depressed. I heard some of them even quit their job!" said the big boy.
"Let's just support Toshi and give him some space for now," the girl suggested.
Codes of Secrets
In New LINK VRAINS, Cyber Man was on his usual patrol duty. He stood alone, watching the near-empty virtual square where more people had been online months ago.
However, he wasn't paying too much attention to his surroundings. He was focused on looking at the messages he had sent to Fate Kid but with no response.
"Fate Kid…. I am sorry. If I only realize it sooner or get to you faster… I…. I!" Cyber Man winced as he looked agitated.
Meanwhile, Blossom Star and Silver Wing were watching Cyber Man, not far in the distance.
"I feel so bad for Cyber Man and Fate Kid," Blossom Star said, looking sad.
"Yeah. Without that kid around, Link VRAINS feel much quieter," Silver Wing said sympathetically. "It feels so lonely, so much so before."
Silver Wings looked around and saw fewer virtual avatars. Some security bots were roaming around, and the usual ad boards were floating around in space, but their favorite place on the Internet had become more of a ghost town. The atmosphere and the state of Link VRAINS upset him.
'If only Codebreaker were here, he would help to cheer up Fate Kid,' Blossom Star thought. 'Where are you, Codebreaker?'
"Well, I won't stay here, moaning all day!" Silver Wing declared as he got up and summoned his D-Board. "I will find that Reaper and beat him to a pulp! He will be paid for all he had done to Cyber Man, Fate Kid, and everyone else!"
"Silver Wing," Blossom Star said before getting back up. "You're right. Things may return to normal if we can find Reaper and beat him. We also need to get information about Codebreaker from him, too."
"That's right! Let's go!" Silver Wing exclaimed. "Cyber Man may be feeling in the dump now, but that doesn't mean we have to! Let's go and find Reaper!"
Blossom Star and Silver Wing flew off, continuing their search for the mysterious dark duelist. Though, the formal was still worried. If they find Reaper, what could they do? Reaper used a strategy that forces duelists to Link Summon their Link Monster and use it to his advantage through multiple card effects, stealing that monster to make his Xyz Monsters stronger.

"WHAT?!" Akira Zaizen gasped. He was in a private location, talking with Emma and his young sister, Aoi.
"You want to lure out Reaper, and you want to volunteer to be his bait?!" Akira questioned, with his face surprised.
"That's right," Aoi nodded.
"Absolutely NOT!" Akira countered. "I cannot allow you to put yourself in danger!"
The man turned to Emma Bessho. "Emma, can't you say something? This is crazy!"
Emma opened her eyes. "That's what I initially thought, but I agree with Aoi that this is probably the only way to find Reaper quickly."
"But, still…" Akira growled.
"Brother." He looked at his sister. "I know you disagree, but this is the only way. If we want to find out where Codebreaker is, then by defeating Reaper, I think we should go with this plan. I promise that I will be fine and defeat Reaper."
Akira gritted his teeth but sighed. "From the look of it, no matter what I say, looking at your eyes tells me you have already decided to proceed. I… I accept. Just be extra careful."
"Well then," Emma grinned. "I guess it's time for Operation Trick to initiate." The female bounty hunter started typing something on her wrist.
"I am ready whenever," Aoi said determinedly.
Aoi and Emma Bessho were scheming: to lure out Reaper, Emma sent out a message pretending to be Blue Angel, a message about a declaration of a duel against Reaper. It will become viral in less than 5 minutes after posting the message. This should catch Reaper's attention, and once he comes to the place for the duel, that is when Aoi, as Blue Angel, comes in.
"Hey Yusaku! Takeru! And Flame!' Ai exclaimed. "People are commenting and retweeting Blue Angel's declaration message! Is she going to do this?!"
"I think this message doesn't look legitimate," Flame revealed. "This is more like a trap to lure Reaper."
"If Aoi Zaizen shows up, we should log in to Link VRAINS and see for ourselves!" Takeru said. "Yusaku!"
"Yeah," Yusaku nodded before he turned to Kusanagi. "Kusanagi-san!"
"The virtual teleporter rooms are ready. I don't know what Aoi Zaizen is up to, but if she fails or loses the duel, you two will be there to finish her job."
Takeura and Yusaku smirked confidently at that comment. They entered and pulled up their dual disk.
"Deck Set! Into the VRAINS!" They inserted their deck and shouted before light enveloped them.
Somewhere else…
"Jackal senses this to be an opportunity," the white Ignis said. "Let's go, too!"
"Yeah!" Diana started as she pressed a button on her duel disk, causing light to cover her whole. "Into the VRAINS!"

Aoi logged in as her current avatar, Blue Girl. She looked around and noticed that very few people were logged in to New LINK VRAINS.
'I hope things become how it used to be once Reaper is defeated,' she thought. I wonder if logging in as my current avatar form was a good idea. Emma sent that message out pretending to be my old persona, but I wonder if I should quickly change it to Blue Angel…"
"Are you the one who invited me?" She stopped and turned to see the one who she expected to show up.
"I've never expected someone to lure me out like this," Reaper said, looking down at Blue Angel from a higher ground. "More or less from a former Charisma Duelist!"
Blue Girl smirked. "I see that you know me. I am honored! However, I am not here to chat. I am here to challenge you to a duel and defeat you!"
Playmaker and Soulburner were on their D-Board when they found Blue Girl.
"Look! There she is!" Ai pointed out.
"And like on schedule, Reaper is here," Flame noted.
"Reaper!" Soulburner growled.
"Soulburner." He looked over at Playmaker. "Remember. We're here to watch the situation. We won't make our move until it is necessary."
"Y-Yeah. I know," Soulburner reassured. However, Playmaker was concerned about Souburner's emotional or mental state.
He could tell that his friend wanted to jump on Reaper when he had a chance. Not only will he watch over the situation, but he will also need to watch over his friend.
"Playmaker! Soulburner!" The duo turned over at the green avatar flying to them.
"Hey, it's Blossom Star and Silver Wing!" Ai exclaimed.
"You two…" Playmaker noticed.
"You guys are here, too," Blossom Star said.
"It looks like you two came to see the show like us," Silver Wing confirmed.
"Wow! I can't believe I am in the same presence with Blossom Star!" Soulburner looked excitedly.
"Calm down, Soulburner. This is not the right time to gar-gar over your favorite idol," Flame said.
Not too far away, Gladia also showed up and watched the scene.
"Well, well. It looks like the whole party is here," Gladia said, smiling. "We have the main course and even the side course."
"What are you talking about? This is not dinner," Jackal said.
"I said a metaphor. What I mean is that I see Reaper and Blue Angel, but I also see Playmaker and Soulburner here. Also, those two other guys, Blossom Star and Silver Wing."
"Ah, yes. I sense that they will be here to watch this. Jackal and Gladia will watch how this situation will go. If necessary, you, Gladia, will jump in," Jackal stated.
Not far away, a camera bot was also here, filming Blue Girl and Reaper.
"Good afternoon, Den City! It is I, Kitty!" Kitty announced excitedly.
"And I am here too. My name is Mimi," Mimi said in a much calmer tone.
"We have a significant development going on! Yesterday, a tweet by Blue Angel stated a declaration of a duel to the mysterious dark duelist, Reaper, who plagues New Link VRAINS!"
"Countless duelists were defeated by Reaper, including Soulburner, who we believe to be an ally to Playmaker and Codebreaker," Mimi said. "Will Blue Angel be his next victim, or will the former idol duelist defeat him and save LINK VRAINS?"
Kitty checked the footage and noticed something odd. "Wait a second. Is that Blue Angel? She looks different."
"She does look different. I wonder if it is her new look or something," Mimi said.
"I agree. Let's get with the business then," Reaper said.
"Then, we will duel in a Speed Duel!" Blue Girl summoned her D-Board.
She hopped onto her D-Board and rode off ahead.
Reaper jumped off as his D-Board materialized in front of him. He back-flipped, then landed on his D-Board before it moved to catch up with Blue Girl.
"Let's go!" Playmaker started as he, Soulburner, newly joined Blossom Star, and Silver Wing followed them. Gladia also followed behind them.
"Speed Duel!" They both shouted.
Blue Girl vs Reaper
Blue Girl(4): 4000 LP
Reaper (4): 4000 LP
"I will go first!" Blue Girl declared.
"Be my guest," Reaper replied.
'Dueling Reaper in a Master Duel would be much more difficult since in Master Duel, you can use all five Main Monster Zones, but in a Speed Duel, that should limit his usage, though it also affects me,' Blue Girl thought. 'However, I should not underestimate him. I must worry about that Spell Card, Force Link Machine, and his Xyz monsters.'
She remembered Reaper's two Xyz dragons from the previous duels he showed involving Reaper. She didn't want to make a mistake, but a deck like her that relies on Link Monsters will be difficult.
'It will be difficult since my Trickstar deck benefits Link Monsters, but I have no choice. I must play things right than what I usually do!'
"I start the duel! I summon Trickstar Candina!" A yellow-dressed idol girl with blond hair and a big megaphone appeared.
Trickstar Candina – Fairy/Effect, 1800 ATK, 400 DEF Level 4
"Candina's effect activates! When she is Normal Summoned, I can add 1 Trickstar card from my deck to my hand! I add Trickstar Lycoris and activate her effect! I reveal her from hand to target Trickstar Candina on my field and Special Summon Lycoris while I return Candina to my hand!"
A red-dressed girl with long velvet-colored hair replaced the blond-haired girl on her side of the field.
Trickstar Lycoris – Fairy/Effect, 1600 ATK, 1200 DEF Level 3
"I set two cards and end my turn!" Blue Angel finished. 'Now I just have to wait.'
Blue Girl (2): 4000 LP
"There it is, folks!" Mimi said excitedly. "Blue Angel starts her usual tactic! She is setting things up for an effect damage!"
In the real world, passersby stop and watch the duel broadcasted on the public TV monitors.
Some people, long-time Blue Angel fans, also came out and watched the duel. They also noticed how she looked very differently.
"So far, so good." Blossom Star said. "Blue Angel, I mean, Blue Girl is playing things defensively."
"She starts with her usual tactic," Silver Wing said. "She might be planning to inflict much damage on Reaper to win the duel.
"That's very likely what her plan is," Playmaker noted.
"Hmph. Is that all you can do? I expected more from you, Blue Girl, or is it Blue Angel?" Reaper jeered. "How big has fallen…"
She sneered at that remark. "I will show you how a real duel begins! I draw!"
"Now Trickstar Lycoris' effect activates!" Blue Girl revealed. "Each time you add a card, she inflicts 200 points of damage!"
Lycoris used her conductor's needle to strike a pink lighting at Reaper, shocking him.
Reaper (5): 4000 3800
"It's only just a scratch," Reaper commented, not feeling too much from the damage. "I summon Q# Light in attack mode!"
A monster made of pure light with glowing red eyes appeared.
Q# Light – Cyberse/Effect, 0 ATK, 0 DEF Level 4
"Then, I play the Spell Card Force Link Machine!" Suddenly, a mist appeared, and a strange machine rose.
"Oh no! Here comes that Spell Card that forces you to Link Summon!" Ai cried.
"If Blue Angel doesn't do anything, Reaper will summon her Link Monster!" Soulburner warned.
"And if that happens, Reaper will summon his Xyz Dragon and use it to steal her monster to make it stronger!" Blossom Star added.
"I've waited for this moment!" Blue Angel shouted, catching Reaper and everyone else's attention. "I activate the Trap Card, Magic Jammer!"
"A trap card?!" Flame gasped.
"By discarding a card, I can negate the activation of a Spell Card and destroy it!" Blue Girl pointed to the Spell card after sending one card from her hand, shattering it into pieces.
Blue Angel (1): 4000 LP
"So, you destroyed my Spell Card?" Reaper questioned. "I sense that you are aware of what I was planning."
"Even though I haven't dueled a lot personally, that doesn't mean I am not informed about the latest trend," Blue Girl replied.
"Hmph. I see," Reaper acknowledged. "I set a card and end my turn."
Reaper (3): 3800 LP
"Awesome! She had a counter to stop Reaper from using the Force Link Machine card!" Silver Wing praised.
"That means that Reaper won't force her to Link Summon a monster," Soulburner said, looking a bit relieved.
"However, that won't stop Reaper permanently." The boys looked at Blossom Star. "There is that strategy involving Reaper's Link Monster, Q# Minus Serpent."
"Oh yeah! That's right. The one that he used against Fate Kid! How could I forget that?" Silver Wing remembered.
"That's right," Playmaker nodded. "Though, I wonder why Reaper didn't summon it this turn. He only needed one Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster to Link Summon it."
"Maybe he is up to something else," Ai said, shivering in fear.
"Most likely," Flame said.
"It looks like things are getting interesting," Gladia grinned as she watched from a safe distance without being noticed.
"Jackal senses it, too," said the white Ignis.
"Alright! Way to go, Blue Angel or Blue Girl! She used a Trap Card, Magic Jammer, to negate the activation of that Force Link Machine spell card, so she won't be forced to Link Summon her monster!" Kitty exclaimed as the fans in the real world cheered for Blue Angel.
"That's right," Mimi nodded. "Thanks to Magic Jammer's effect, Force Link Machine didn't get to activate its effect, and it was destroyed. I wonder how Reaper will recover from this setback."
"Let's hope not, Mimi! I hope Blue Girl will kick his butt!" Kitty stated.
"I draw!" Blue Girl drew her card.
Blue Girl (2): 4000 LP
"I summon Trickstar Candina." The yellow idol girl reappeared next to Lycoris as she smiled. "I activate her effect! I add Trickstar Light Stage from my deck and play it!"
The said card showed four Trickstar monsters dancing on a stage. "When this card is activated, I can add 1 Trickstar monster from my Deck to my hand. Additionally, once per turn, I can target 1 Set card on your Spell & Trap Zone!"
A mysterious blue light glowed over Reaper's set card while Blue Girl added a monster card to her hand.
Blue Girl (2): 4000 LP
"You will see later what it will do," Blue Angel winked at him, then changed her to a serious expression. "But for now, appear! The circuit of the idol!"
She shot blue lightning into the sky, making a circuit appear. "Arrowheads confirmed! The summoning condition is two Trickstar monsters! I set Candina and Lycoris to the link markers!"
The two idol girls turned into yellow and red twisters, absorbing into the bottom link arrows at the corners of the circuit portal.
"Link Summon! Appear, Link 2! Trickstar Holly Angel!" Her ace monster appeared as she smiled and laughed, flying beside her owner and summoned to the right Extra Monster Zone.
Trickstar Holly Angel – Link 2, Fairy/Link/Effect, 2000 ATK, Link Arrow: Bottom-Left, Bottom-Right
"There it is, folks! Blue Girl summoned her ace monster, Trickstar Holly Angel!" Kitty exclaimed.
"But, now that leaves her vulnerable to Reaper," Mimi reminded her partner. "Reaper's strategy is involved when his opponent controls a Link Monster."
"She summoned her Link Monster!" Soulburner pointed out.
"I hope Blue Girl knows what she is doing," Blossom Star concerned.
"Q#Light's effect! While this card is face-up on the field, all Link Monsters on the field lose 500 ATK!"
Trickstar Holly Angel - 2000 - 1500 ATK
'Despite that inconvenience, I will still go with the plan," Blue Girl thought.
"Then, I target Trickstart Candina in my Graveyard and play the Equip Spell, Trickstar Magicial Laurel." The yellow-dressed idol reappeared with a wreath on her head. It was made up of blue flowers, and the Trickstar symbol was a badge attached to the wreath.
"I can activate this card by targeting a Trickstar monster in my Graveyard, and when I do, I Special Summon it," she explained, then pointed to Holly Angel. While she did, Trickstar Candina laughed happily as she turned to the field, just right behind Trickstar Holly Angel or based on the field, just below the Link Monster.
"Since I control a Trickstar Link Monster, I can Special Summon Trickstar Hoody!" A big, curly purple, purple-haired idol girl with blue eyeliner, a purple hat, and a purple idol dress appeared next to Holly Angel's bottom-left link marker.
Trickstar Hoody – Fairy/Effect, LIGHT, 600 ATK 1800 DEF, Level 2
"Trickstar Holly Angel's effect activates!" She declared. "Since Trickstar Hoody was Special Summoned to a zone she points to, she inflicts 200 points of damage to your life points!"
Her ace link monster used a whip with a spike ball attached at the end. She whipped it at Reaper, making him block the incoming attack, and got damaged.
Reaper (3): 3800 - 3600 LP
CRRK.
A crack formed over Reaper's mask in the process of the effect damage through Holly Angel's whip attack.
"Now, Trickstar Light Stage's additional effect activates!" Blue Angel shouted. "Each time a Trickstar monster I control inflicts battle or effect damage to my opponent, inflict 200 damage to them!"
The Field Spell shot a beam of light at Reaper, making him wince again from the light, but he kept a steady balance on his D-Board so he wouldn't wobble.
Reaper (3): 3600 - 3400 LP
"Not that Holly Angel can inflict effect damage when Trickstar monster is summoned to the zone she points to, but she gains ATK equal to the damage you take!"
Trickstar Holly Angel – 1500 - 1700 ATK
"Battle! I declare Holly Angel to attack your monster! Holly Whip! Also, don't forget my Field Spell's effect!" Her ace monster used the spike ball attached to her whip to hit over Q# Light, shattering the light monster. Additionally, the Field Spell shot a beam of light at Reaper, causing him to cover himself withh his arms.
Reaper: 3400 - 1700 - 1500
"Now, Hoody, attack you directly!" Her other monster summoned a purple umbrella, which she used to fire a purple flame at Reaper, burning him and his life points.
Reaper: 1500 - 900 - 700 LP
"Alright!" Soulburner made a fist as he looked proud. "Blue Angel took down most of his life points!"
"I end my turn, and now, due to the effect of Trickstar Light Stage, that set card I targeted, you must activate it or send it to the graveyard! But that's just not all! I activate my set card, Trickstar Contract!"
Blue Angel's set card flipped up, revealing a Trap card showing Holly Angel with a pen in her hand signing a paper contract with a businessman in white glasses.
"While this card is face-up, you must activate your Set card, or else you will be dealt 200 damage!"
"Aha! I see!" Ai realized it. "With that Trap card, Reaper is now forced to activate his Set card, no matter what!"
"And if he does, Candina's effect activates, which will deal 200 damage when an opponent activates a Spell or Trap Card," Playmaker added.
"But, it wouldn't matter since Candina's effect damage will be just enough to deplete all of Reaper's Life Points," Flame said.
"Meaning that Blue Angel will win!" Soulburner cheered.
"I see. So, this was your plan, all along. You plan this situation to trap me with effect damage, enough to deal my Life Points to zero," Reaper said.
Blue Angel smirked. "That's right. No matter what you do, you will lose. No, activate your set card and accept your defeat!"
"… Very well. I activate my Set trap card, Q# Recovery!" The flipped card showed Q# Particle and Q# Light turning into data, as shown on a computer monitor in what appeared to be recovery software running. Gagaga Girl, who had her smartphone plugged into the computer, used the said computer.
"You are over now! Candina will deal 200 damage to you whenever you activate a Spell or Trap Card, and Light Stage will deal 200 more!" Blue Angel exclaimed.
"Are you sure about that?" She raised an eyebrow. "Q# Recovery's effect! If my opponent inflicts an effect damage, I can negate that damage. However, if my opponent controls a Link Monster on the field, I gain that damage as life points instead!"
"What?!" She gasped as Reaper's body glowed in a yellow aura, restoring his Life Points.
Reaper: 700 - 900 LP
Blue Girl (0): 4000 LP
"Oh no!" Kitty gasped. "Blue Angel did a lot of damage to Reaper's Life Points, but not enough to make it zero!"
"It seems like Reaper is not down for the count this turn. Now we'll see what he will do next," Mimi said.
"Tch. Damn it, but at least I have more Life Points than you. I end my turn here, and at this point, Holly Angel's attack returns to normal."
Trickstar Holly Angel – 1700 - 1500 ATK
"We'll see about that," Reaper said, drawing his card. "I draw!"
Reaper (4): 900 LP
"Since a Link Monster is summoned, I can Special Summon Q# Light from my graveyard!" A monster made of pure light reappeared on his side. "Additionally, your Link Monster loses 500 ATK white face up on the field."
Trickstar Holly Angel – 1500 - 1000 ATK
"Since you control a Link Monster, I discard a card to Special Summon Q# Particle from my hand!" Another monster, made up of particles, appeared next to Q# Light.
"I activate the effect of Q# Exe Knight from my Graveyard! Since you control a Link Monster in the Extra Monster Zone, I can Special Summon it from the Graveyard!" A black knight with a black shield and beam sword appeared in his third Main Monster Zone.
"Additionally, I can target 1 Q# monster on the field and change its level of all face-up monsters I control equal to that target monster's Level." Reaper pointed to his Q# Light. "I target Light to make all my monster's Level Four!"
A dark aura glowed over Exe Knight and Particle, causing their Level to increase to 4.
"Here it comes!" Blossom Star said, knowing what to come next.
"I overlay my three monsters!" His duel disk produced dark red lightning before it shot into the air, creating a giant cross.
The three monsters turned into dark purple particles as they were absorbed into the cross, causing it to shoot out to create a spiral galaxy portal before the portal exploded with energy.
"Link-Killer Dragon, let your roar echo the Cyberse realm to show your mighty power and lay destruction upon whoever stands in the way! Xyz Summon, Rise, Rank 4! Q# Quantum Dragon!" The dragon appeared in his Extra Monster Zone as it roared, causing the air to distort temporarily.
Q# Quantum Dragon – Cyberse/Xyz/Effect, 2800 ATK 2000 DEF RANK 4 OU: 3
Blue Girl held on, keeping her balance steady. The audience watching also stood strong to keep their balance steady.
"Q# Quantum Dragon's effect! If it is Xyz Summoned, I can activate the effects of the Q# monsters attached to it as its own effect! I activate the effect of Q# Light, decreasing Holly Angel's ATK even further!"
Holly Angel cried as dark aura enveloped her, making her weaker.
Trickstar Holly Angel – 1000 - 500 ATK
"Then, I detach 2 overlay units from my dragon to target your Link Monster!" Two of its purple orbs were absorbed. "Then, that targeted Link Monster is attached to my dragon! Go! Use Link Attach Scan!"
The dragon roared as it used its eyes to shoot a red ray beam at Holly Angel. The beam scanned her from top to bottom, causing her to cry before it turned into a purple orb before it transferred to the dragon.
"Holly Angel, no!" Blue Girl saddened.
"Now that Trickstar Holly Angel is attached to my dragon, it gains ATK equal to Angel's original ATK!" Quantum Dragon roared more as it dark aura glowed over its body.
Q# Quantum Dragon – 2800 - 4800 ATK
"It is over for you, Blue Angel," Reaper said, before turning to his dragon. "Battle, Quantum Dragon! Quantum Blast at Trickstar Hoody!"
The dragon fired a purple energy blast at the purple hat idol.
"If this attack hits, it is over for Blue Angel!" Kitty exclaimed as the fans in the real world screamed in horror.
Blue Girl didn't flinch or look worried as the energy blast approached her monster. Instead, she smirked. "Not so fast! I activate Trickstar Rose Shield from my Graveyard!"
Suddenly, a giant rose appeared, blocking the energy blast and protecting her monsters.
"If my opponent attacks a Trickstar monster I control while I have this card in my Graveyard, I can banish it to negate that attack and add one Trickstar monster from Deck to my hand," she explained as she added a card to her hand.
"Phew." Ai, Soulburner, and Kitty momentarily let go of the breath they were holding.
Blossom Star grinned, relieved that her friend and idol, Blue Girl, survived this turn.
Playmaker looked indifferent but glad that Blue Angel managed to survive and fight for another turn.
Gladia grinned as she watched from a distance.
"Hmph. You survived a little bit longer, but I won't let you go off unscathed! I activate my Quick-Play Spell, Q# Hack!" The card showed a hooded figure typing things on the laptop and hacking into another remote machine. His laptop display showed Q# Quantum Dragon for the wallpaper.
"If I control a Q# Xyz or Link Monster in the Extra Monster Zone, I can inflict damage equal to half of that monster's ATK to my opponent!"
Blue Angel was shocked by the electricity, making her scream in plain.

"Well, at least Blue Angel managed to survive Quantum Dragon's attack," Silver Wing reassured.
"And she still has higher Life Points than Reaper's," Soulburner noted.
"True, but there are three things that still trouble for Blue Girl," Playmaker stated. "One, Reaper's dragon has an attack of 4800, higher than any of her monsters on the field. Two, she only has one Spell & Trap zone, so she can only set or play one card. And three, if she doesn't find out how to deplete Reaper's Life Points this turn, she will lose."
"Well… I am sure that she will find a way! I know she will!" Blossom Star said.
"My turn, I draw!"
Blue Girl (2h): 1600 LP
"Reaper!" Reaper looked at her. "Now, it is time to show you a brand-new trick!"
"A new trick?" Ai repeated.
"What could that be?" Soulburner asked.
"Appear, the circuit of the idol!" A link portal appeared above her. "The summoning condition is two Trickstar monsters! I set my Candina and Hoody to the Link Markers!"
The two idol girls turned into yellow and red energies, hitting the bottom and bottom-right link arrows.
"Link Summon! Sing to the stage, Link-2 Trickstar Rock Poppy!" The new monster was a cute, small idol girl with white hair styled in two buns, shaped like an opium poppy. Her eyes were pink, and she wore a red and orange idol dress. She held an orange rock guitar.
Trickstar Rock Poppy – Fairy/Link/Effect, 1200 ATK. LINK 2, Link Arrow: Bottom-Left, Bottom
"A new Trickstar Link Monster," Flame said.
"I activate Trickstar Hoody's effect! If she is sent to the graveyard as material for a Trickstar Link Monster, I can add 1 Trickstar Fusion or Trickstar Diffusion from my Deck to my hand! I add Trickstar Fusion!"
"Fusion? Is she preparing for a Fusion Summon?" Silver Wing asked.
"Then, I summon Trickstar Resonator from my hand!" A monster resembling Dark Resonator, except with a wreath of colorful flowers, a tuning fork in its hand, and cloth that showed the Trickstar symbol. It appeared behind Rock Poppy's bottom link arrow.
Trickstar Resonator – Fiend/Effect, 600 ATK, 800 DEF Level 3
"That monster is a tuner monster!" Blossom Star noticed.
"A tuner?" Playmaker said. "That would mean…!"
"I activate Trickstar Rock Poppy's effect!" Blue Angel declared. "When a Trickstar Monster is Normal or Special Summoned to the zone she points to, I can Special Summon one Trickstar monster from my Graveyard to another zone she points to! I Special Summon Trickstar Candina!"
"I Set a card and then tune my Level 3 Trickstar Resonator to Candina!" Both her hands glowed in white light until it turned into a heart.
The two monsters turned into seven green rings. A screen showed two numbers, 3 and 4, before they combined into the number 7 as the seven rings towered over each other—a stream of light shot through it.
"From an idol to a warrior, protect the innocent with your mighty power and burn all wickedness in the world! Synchro Summon! Appear, Level 7 Trickstar Scarlet Knight!" The new monster was a tall woman with long crimson-red hair and a bang that cast over her left eye. The only revealing eye showed was a blue iris. She wore dark red and black armor with a small blue flame burning in front of her chest, shoulder pads with a rose design, and a giant red sword with a big Trickstar symbol in the center. The knight monster posed with her sword down in the zone Rock Poppy pointed to.
Trickstar Scarlet Knight – Fairy/Synchro/Effect, FIRE, 2300 ATK 1300 DEF Level 7
"She Synchro Summoned a new Trickstar!" Silver Wing gasped.
"That's great! She pulled off a Synchro Summon," Blossom Star cheered.
"Since my last experience with Soulburner and Blossom Star, I learned I still have some improvement. By learning from my opponent, I incorporated a new summoning method to my Trickstar Deck," Blue Girl explained.
"So, this is your new trick," Reaper said.
"I have not shown you the full trick yet," she noted. "Trickstar Scarlet Knight's effect! If she is Synchro Summoned next to a Trickstar monster's Link Marker, she gains ATK equals to its original ATK points."
Scarlet Knight pulled out her sword as her body glowed in red aura.
Trickstar Scarlet Knight – 2300 3500 ATK
"3500 ATK, but that won't be enough to beat Quantum Dragon," Gladia pointed out.
"True," Jackal agreed.
"Now, battle! I declare Scarlet Knight to attack your dragon!" With her sword out, the Synchro monster jumped at the dragon as the dragon roared.
"What?! But if she does that, she will self-destruct her monster!" Ai exclaimed.
"Additionally, if Trickstar Scarlet Knight attacks an Extra Deck monster, her target is destroyed! Scarlet Flare!" Her Synchro monster waved her sword, creating a beam of blue fire.
The fire burned the dragon as it roared in pain before it shattered.
"Q# Quantum Dragon is gone!" Kitty shouted, making her partner wince.
"We can see that," Mimi said, scratching her ears.
"I still have one last attack left! Go, Rock Poppy! Attack Reaper directly!" Her Link Monster jumped over Reaper as it was about to attack him, but then…
"I play Muncher-Muncher's effect from my hand!" He revealed a familiar monster card from his hand.
"What?!" Blue Girl gasped.
"That monster!" Playmaker looked surprised.
"If I were to take 1000 or more damages from a battle, I can reveal this card from my hand and take only half of that damage!"
A ball-sized monster in black fur appeared. It opened its mouth to a gigantic size, swallowing up the damage.
Reaper: 900 - 300 LP
"I send Muncher-Muncher to my graveyard."
"That card! Why do you have that card?!" Blue Girl pointed at him with an accusing look. "That card belongs to Codebreaker!"
"You saw that, did you, Ai?" Playmaker asked.
"Yeah! That monster card Reaper used, Muncher-Mucher, belonged to Codebreaker. He used that card when we dueled some months ago," Ai said.
"If he has Codebreaker's card, then that means…" Flame thought aloud.
"Reaper must know something about Codebreaker!" Blossom Star interjected. "He must have done something to him!"
The boys looked at Blossom Star, thinking that Blossom Star may not be getting it or…
"Blossom Star, I don't think that's what Playmaker and others are saying…" Silver Wing said.
"What about this card? I had it since I started serving my master," Reaper admitted.
"Since the day you serve your master…?" Blue Girl repeated but shrugged it off. "Well, whatever the reason you have it, you still lose! Now, Trickstar Light Stage's effect will deal 200 damage to your Life Points!"
"I activate Q# Recovery's second effect! If I effect damage was about to inflict my Life Points while my opponent controls a Link Monster, I can banish it and one Q# monster from my Graveyard to gain a life point instead! I banish it and Q# Particle!"

"Tch!" Blue Angel scowled. "Then, I end my turn."
"I've never expected you to use Synchro Summon, but despite your new trick, you won't win this duel," Reaper stated. "My turn, draw!"
Reaper (2): 1500 LP
"By paying half of my Life Points, I Special Summon Q# Quantum Wyrm from my hand!" A smaller version of Q# Quantum Dragon appeared. This one had only three red eyes.

Q# Quantum Wyrm – Cyberse/Effect, DARK, 1400 ATK 1000 DEF, Level 4
"Then, I summon the Data Storm!" Suddenly, a giant twister of data winds appeared out of nowhere in front of them.
"What?!" Both Playmaker and Ai gasped.
Blue Girl quickly dodged away while Reaper went straight into it.
"He went straight into the storm!" Soulburner shocked.
"I activate my Skill, Storm Access!" Reaper declared as he reached his hand out, glowing in dark purple light. "When I have less than 1000 Life Points, I can get one random Cyberse monster from the data storm and add it to my Extra Deck!"
Reaper roared, staying in control so the storm's force wouldn't blow him away. However, due to the storm's strength, the crack over his mask grew bigger. A shadow of a giant bird flew by inside the storm as data materialized into a card in the hand.
"Card obtained!" Reaper shouted as the card completed the materialization. He exited out of the storm.
"He got out of that storm!" Blossom Star exclaimed.
"He must have gotten a new monster," Playmaker said. "Blue Girl needs to be careful of what to come next."
A link circuit portal appeared above Reaper as he reached out his arm.
"Arrowheads confirmed! The summoning condition is one Q# monster! I set my Q# Quantum Wyrm to the Link Marker!" His small dragon turned into a purple twister as it absorbed into a bottom-left arrow of the link portal.
"Link Summon! Rise, the condor that prays on Link Monster and rules over the sky of the Cyberse Realm! Link-1, Q# Quantum Condor!" A giant gray metallic bird squawked, showing off a giant dark purple wings and talon made up of cybernetic metal. Its feet have claws, and it only had one big green eye that looked like a camera lens.
It squawked strongly in the right Extra Monster Zone.
Q# Quantum Condor-Cyberse/Link/Effect, 100 ATK LINK 1 Link Arrow: Bottom-Left
Blue Girl looked war but confused. "A Link 1 monster with 100 ATK?"
"Don't judge by its look or its stat," Reaper said, turning his eyes on the monster. "I activate Quantum Condor's effect! If it is Link Summoned, I can target one Q# Xyz monster in my Graveyard to return it to my Extra Deck, but since you control a Link Monster, I can Special Summon it next to Condor's Link Marker instead! Rise again, Q# Quantum Dragon!"
The dragon returned as it roared powerfully from the middle Main Monster Zone.
"Then, I play the Rank-Up Magic Q# Upgrade!" Blue Girl, Blossom Star, and Silver Wing widened their eyes when they heard that card's name.
"What?! Rank-Up Magic?" Soulburner gasped.
"I target my Q# Quantum Dragon to special summon a Q# Xyz Monster with one Rank higher than it!" The giant X appeared again. Quantum Dragon roared one more time before it turned into particles, absorbing into the cross, and then it created the spiral galaxy portal before it burst out of energy.
"Evolve my Link-Killer Dragon! Let your roar echo the Cyberse Realm to make your enemy know your presence! Rank-Up Xyz Evolution! Rise, Rank 5! Q# Quantum AI Dragon!"
An evolved form of Quantum Dragon appeared as it gave out a mighty roar. Everyone covered their ears just for how loud it was.
Q# Quantum AI Dragon – Cyberse/Xyz/Effect 2900 ATK 2500 DEF, RANK 5 OU: 2
"When I use my Rank-Up Magic Q# Upgrade, it is attached to the summoned Xyz Monster. And since it is Xyz Summoned, I can Special Summon 1 Link Monster from either player's Extra Deck and make my opponent take control of that monster until my next Standy Phase, but since Quantum AI Dragon was summoned using Quantum Dragon as its Xyz Material, I can choose one from the Graveyard instead!"
A dark purple portal appeared and out came Trickstar Holly Angel as it flew next to Trickstar Scarlet Knight.
"Holly Angel?" Blue Girl gasped; a bit surprised to see her ace monster.
"That's right! I choose Trickstar Holly Angel, then activate my dragon's additional effect! By detaching two overlay units, I target a Link Monster my opponent controls and attach it to itself. I target your Trickstar Holly Angel!"
Quantum AI Dragon absorbed two purple orbs and then shot a beam of red light, scanning over Trickstar Holly Angel and turning her into another purple orb before it flew and orbited around the dragon itself.
"With that, I declare to battle! Quantum AI Dragon, attack your Trickstar Rock Poppy! And thanks to its effect, it can attack multiple times equal to the attached Xyz Material's Link Rating!"
"It can attack more than once?!" Ai gasped.
"Trickstar Holly Angel is a Link-2 monster, which means…" Flame.
"That dragon can attack twice!" Jackal added.
"Attack! Quantum Mega Blast!" Quantum AI Dragon fired a devasting purple ball of energy at Blue Girl's monster, but Blue Girl had another plan.
"I activate my Set card, Trickstar Retire!" Her Set card flipped up, revealing it to be a Trap card that showed an unknown Trickstar monster doing a graduation livestream while a bunch of firewall chat messages full of the words "goodbye" and crying emoji.
"If my Trickstar Monster battles my opponent's monster with a higher attack, I can return that monster to my hand to negate that attack! I return Trickstar Rock Poppy, but since she is a Link Monster, I sent her back to the Extra Deck instead!"
Rock Poppy turned into a yellow particle, disappearing from the field.
"Even so, I still have one more attack! Go, Quantum AI Dragon! Destroy Scarlet Knight!" The dragon fired another energy ball, this time hitting a target successfully.
Scarlet Knight cried in agony before she disintegrated and caused an explosion.
Blue Girl covered herself as her avatar body glitched, taking the damage.
Blue Girl(1): 1600 1000 LP
"My attack is not over yet! Go, Quantum Condor!" Condor flew and scratched Blue Girl with its clawed feet.
Blue Girl blocked the attack but winced from the damage.
Blue Girl (1): 1000 900 LP
"I end my turn," Reaper finished.
Reaper (0): 750 LP
He flew closer to Blue Girl. "You've done well to survive this long. This duel must be the longest duel I've ever had. However, the only thing I don't understand is why. Why did you challenge me?"
"Why? So that I can avenge all the people you hurt, including someone who I know that's close to someone who's a great ally to me!" Blue Girl answered.
"An ally?" Reaper questioned.
"That's right! I know that you defeated Fate Kid!"
"Fate Kid? Ah, that young boy who stupidly challenged me. The one who claims to be Cyber Man's sidekick. He is just a sad, stupid boy," Reaper commented.
"He is not stupid!" Blue Girl chided. "He only wanted to prove to himself how strong and useful he was to Cyber Man! Any kids would be fortunate to be a sidekick to Cyber Man!"
"Hmph. I don't believe in hero idolization or whatever you call it," Reaper said. "Just as much as I don't understand human emotion at all."
The crack on his mask opened, revealing a bit of his eye. Blue Girl noticed, and her eyes widened a bit. "Wait, you are…"
Reaper flew ahead. "Now, Blue Girl! Why don't you show me more tricks you have in your sleeves? Show me all you got!"
Blue Girl re-focused on the duel. He was right that she still had more things to show and could do in this duel. She could not stop here.
"What will Blue Girl do? She has less Life Points and no monsters on her side of the field!"
"My turn, draw!" A strong wind blew as she drew her card. "I replace my Field Spell, Trickstar Light Stage with a new Field Spell, Trickstar Virtual Live!"
Light Stage was replaced with a different new Field Spell. This card showed what it looked like Trickstar Live Stage except it was shown on Ojama Yellow and Green's computer, wearing head band, happi, and penlight as they cheered for their favorite Trickstar idols performing on the virtual stage.
"When this card is activated, I can add 1 Trickstar monster from Graveyard to my hand. Then, I activate one of its other effects! If my opponent controls an Extra Deck monster, I can Special Summon 1 Trickstar Token on my side of the field!" As she added a Trickstar monster to her hand, a Trickstar monster that was shaped like the Trickstar symbol with small angel wings appeared.
Trickstar Token – Fairy, LIGHT, 0 ATK 0 DEF Level 1
"I added my Trickstar Nightshade, and I will summon it from my hand!" An idol fairy girl with a slight purple top hat, pink hair with light green bangs, and a conductor's needle appeared.
Trickstar Nightshade-Fairy/Effect, LIGHT, 100 ATK 0 DEF, Level 1
"Trickstar Nightshade? When did she have that monster in her Graveyard?" Soulburner asked.
"Oh!" Blossom Star gasped, remembering something. "It must have been that card that she discarded when she used Magic Jammer."
"That must be it!" Ai said.
"Appear, the circuit of the idol!" A link circuit portal appeared. "The summoning condition is one Level 2 or lower Trickstar monster. I set my Trickstar Nightshade to the Link Marker!"
Nightshade turned into a pink twister as it absorbed into the bottom arrow of the circuit portal.
"Link Summon! Link 1, Trickstar Bloom!" An orange-haired idol girl in a green dress with a big flower wand twirled around before she posed in the Extra Monster Zone.
Trickstar Bloom – Fairy/Link/Effect, LIGHT, 100 ATK LINK 1 Link Arrow:
"If Bloom is Link Summoned, I can make you draw 1 card." Reaper listened as he drew a card while Blue Girl continued. "Then, I activate Trickstar Nightshade's effect!"
"An effect from a Graveyard!" Flame said.
"If she is sent to the Graveyard as material for the Link Summon of a Trickstar monster, I can Special Summon her, but she is banished when she leaves the field next time. Return, Nightshade!" Nightshade reappeared on the field, looking cheerful that she did.
"I play the Spell card, Trickstar Fusion! I fuse my Trickstar Nightshade and Trickstar Token! The conductor idol and token idol, combine your forces and bring forth hope and dream to this world! Fusion Summon! Appear, my new monster! Trickstar Rapping Reaper!"
Nightshade and Trickstar Token turned into blue and red twisters before merging into purple twisters. Out of the purple twister came a new Trickstar monster. It was a young woman with a long, straight pink hair. She wore a small black tiara, a dark pink idol dress, and a giant scythe with a part microphone in her hand.
Trickstar Rapping Reaper-Fairy/Fusion/Effect, DARK, 2100 ATK, 1000 DEF, Level 7
"Another new Trickstar monster?!" Silver Wing gasped.
"Amazing folks! Blue Girl summoned a brand new Trickstar monster from her Extra Deck! This time, it is a Fusion monster!" Kitty exclaimed.
"Trickstar Rapping Reaper's effect activates! If she is Fusion Summoned next to a Trickstar Link Monster's Link Marker, she gains 1000 ATK!" The Fusion monster's body glowed in a pink light.
Trickstar Rapping Reaper – 2100 3100 ATK.
"Once per turn, I can tribute a Trickstar Link Monster I control so that when Rapping Reaper battles, she cannot be targeted by card effect until the end of the Damage Step," Blue Girl explained. "I tribute Trickstar Bloom!"
Bloom turned into an orb of light before being absorbed into Rapping Reaper.
"Battle! I declare Rapping Reaper to attack your Q# Quantum Condor!" Rapping Reaper turned around and jumped on Condor with her scythe ready to chomp some heads.
"If this attack hits, Blue Girl will win!" Silver Wing exclaimed.
'This is for you, Fate Kid and Cyber Man! And also Shima, too!' Blue Girl thought confidently.
"Hmph. You are a fool to attack my Link Monster." Blue Girl snapped out of her thought with a changed expression in response.
"I activate Q# Quantum Condor's additional effect! If my opponent's monster attacks it while this card points to a Q# Xyz monster, I can attach it to that monster!"
"What?!" Everyone looked surprised as Quantum Condor transformed into a purple orb and attached it to Quantum AI Dragon.
"Not only that, but Quantum AI Dragon gains a new effect due to Condor's effect! By detaching two materials, I inflict damage equal to the ATK of my opponent's monster with the highest ATK on the field!"
"But, Trickstar Rapping Reaper is her only monster. That means…" Blossom Star said.
"No way," Blue Girl looked dreadful.
"You take 3100 points of damage!" Quantum AI Dragon charged its energy in its mouth before it fired. The attack engulfed Rapping Reaper before it engulfed Blue Girl.
"Kyaah!" Blue Girl yelped in pain as she flipped over, falling off from her D-Board.
"Blue Girrrrlll!" Blossom Star screamed.
Blue Girl or Aoi Zaizen couldn't speak or move her body. The attack from her opponent's monster paralyzed her body for whatever reason. All she could do was look at what appeared to be an angel's wings fluttering and falling along with her.
"I… lost? I lost. I…. I guess. I was…. Not… strong enough." She thought before she lose consciousness.

Everyone who watched the duel left speechless until…
SWOOP!
Everyone stopped and noticed something flew quickly by.
"Wait. Is that?" Silver Wing pointed out.
Blue Girl was saved from falling to her doom by Cyber Man. Alongside him was Go Onizuka.

What do you guys think? The two new Extra Deck Trickstar monsters, are inspired by two HoloLive Vtubers. Could you guess who they are?
So Aoi Zaizen aka Blue Girl/Blue Angel now knows how to Synchro Summon. There is no official Trickstar Synchro monster in the TCG/OCG, but I think there should be, so I created one, alongside a new kind of Resonator monster that works with her Archetype.
This was a long duel, but next chapter will have a much longer duel. I worked on this chapter late last night and completed it over the weekend for most of the time.
