The Crystal Legacy

Prologue

Transmission Received

The Gem War, a war of minor note yet massive impacts in the long run. Now to begin this tale one must be told of the Enderians, an old Species that developed for millennia till the Diamonds found their home world and went on to try to colonize it. Emphasis on tried, for the Enderians were one of the more stubborn organics they found, having the whole planet being rallied to fend off the invaders. Eventually the Gemderian war would end with the Diamonds fleeing the world and would not return till millennia later. The second war was much larger but in the end the Diamonds would finally give up against the Enderians, viewing them as to powerful to get rid of.

The Enderians for years before and after mingled with Gems for centuries, making technology to aid and be of use to them and to the Enderians. Unlike the Diamonds, the Enderians, and their sub species from their home world the Skiradians would embrace off colors and find uses for each and everyone of the gems born in their worlds. As the years passed and the Enderian Empire flourished many high ranking military officers started getting a bit antsy. They had heard of the Diamonds finding a new world for the youngest Diamond to colonize. Being this diamond lived among the Enderians for centuries before the second Gemderian war, hearing this news hurt them slightly. Still they stayed away from that sector of space as to not anger the Diamonds, fearing the third war would not be won after the last one. This is where our tale begins.

The fleet Kala-Iliras was making a routine patrol near the edges of the western most point of the Enderian Empire. The flagship of the fleet, Battleship Jirrunda II was in the middle of getting repairs, as pirates had damaged the ship slightly. The captain of the Vessel was on the bridge with the repair men, watching over them and what they were doing, in case they were doing more harm than good. Many crew members mingled with each other, along with the rising star of the fleet and the whole Empire, Lieutenant Endasen. He was on the bridge with the Captain watching outside as the repair ships replaced many of the parts. Endasen then smirked slightly before turning to face the captain and the repairmen.

"Never knew Pirates could be so well armed out here. Thought the fringe worlds didn't have such tech for them to smuggle off?" Endasen commented with The Captain turning his head to look at Endasen with a raised eyebrow.

"You'd be surprised how often Pirates find new ways to catch us off guard. Either someone's funding these bastards, or we need to keep closer eyes on our cargo ships." The Captain remarked with Endasen rolling his eyes a bit.

"Maybe the Diamonds are tipping these fellas off, I've heard the new plasma lasers they have are based on Gem design Captain." Endasen said with the Captain shaking his head.

"You know as well as I that Diamonds don't care for our corner of space anymore. Are the repairs done men?" the Captain asked turning to face the repairmen.

"Almost sir, the damage seems deeper than we thought." one of them responded. It was at that point the transceiver was finally fixed and was beeping, signifying a message had been received.

"Ah at least the transceiver's fixed. Whose calling pilot?" Endasen asked with the pilot giving a surprised expression at the deliverer.

"Uh it's coming from Gem space… From Earth." The Pilot said turning to Endasen with a confused look in his eyes.

"Earth?! That's Pink Diamonds colony, why the hell are we getting a message from her?" The Captain asked clearly confused as was everyone else in that bridge.

"Maybe she finally saw what the diamonds do to organic worlds and needs our help against the others." Endasen answered.

"Please, as if she would be allowed to go to the surface with how those Diamonds act." The Captain scoffed.

"That ever stopped her before? This IS Pink Diamond we're talking about." Endasen remarked with the Captain nodding slightly.

"Fair enough, patch it through, we gotta know why someone's reaching out to us from there." The Captain ordered with the pilot nodding and patching the transmission through.

As it went through a holographic screen popped up showing the planets surface and not Pink Diamond. It was a Rose Quartz, with long curly hair and an almost human like skin instead of the pure colored skin of the Gems. She was looking around the ship before sighing of relief and speaking.

"Oh thank heavens someone answered finally." the Quarts said with a wave of relief in their voice.

"A Rose Quartz? What are you doing on such frequencies?" The Captain asked with The Quartz raising an eyebrow.

"What are you?… OH right, sorry but, I'm not a quartz." The Quartz said closing their eyes and when the opened again showed diamond Irises. That was enough for the captain and crew to realize who it really was.

"PINK DIAMOND!? What, on the great realms are you doing on your colony world, disguised as a Rose Quartz no less." Endasen exclaimed taken aback by Pinks disguise.

"I will explain quickly first I want to know who I am speaking to." Rose… Pink Diamond said with the Captain slamming his left hand on his chest close to his heart.

"Right, I am Captain Meligal of the fleet Kala-Illiras THIS is battleship Jirrunda II, and the man right next to me is Lieutenant Endasen of the fleet. Now then, answer me this Diamond, why are you on your planet and why did you disguise yourself as a Quartz?" Captain Meligal asked with Rose looking away for a moment before looking back at the feed.

"I went down to my Colony, so see what life was held their, I was bored on my moon base and wanted some adventure. When I came down I finally saw…" Rose trailed off with Meligal looking down with a sorrowful expression.

"The truth of Gem Colonization, how it doesn't feed life but rips it out and uses it for yourselves." Endasen answered with Rose answering back with a nod.

"I was taught to believe we seeded life for our empire, but that was a lie, we have destroyed worlds doing this. I don't want this anymore." Rose said starting to get teary eyed.

"If that is the case why not just tell the diamond you want out?" Meligal asked with Endasen turning his head with a raised eyebrow to him.

"Are we talking about the same Diamonds sir? They hardly ever listen to others needs and desires, not to mention PINK here was demanding a colony non stop, NOW she wants out, I doubt they would give her the time of the stars to listen." Endasen remarked with Pink chiming in.

"Yes, I've tried but because I was so insistent I don't think they will even listen, and if they did, they wouldn't care. Hence why I thought to just scare them with a rebellion, but now, now I see everything that is wrong with our society and I need help." Rose said with desperation in her eyes.

"What type of help are we talking here ma'am, logistics, supplies? It certainly can't be military could it." Meligal remarked with Rose looking gave a nervous expression.

"Well…." Rose began with Meligal and Endasen both looking dumbfounded.

"You have got to be kidding, you want us to join a WAR?! We've got non aggression pacts with the Diamonds, to break it to aid a rebellion would be a fast track to war with our societies." Meligal said with a somber look in his eyes.

"The galaxy would be alight again, and this time, the scars may not heal from such a war." Endasen said with Rose nodding with a similar expression as Meligal.

"I know my risks, my faults, and my choices actions, but please, would you really leave a world controlled by the diamonds to die? I still remember the great mountains on your home world, how mighty the star ships rode across the sky, and your nations rise to the stars. Would you allow an underdeveloped world to just fade away from gem colonization?" Rose asked with Meligal and Endasen looking at each other with somber and worried looks in their eyes.

The two of them remember the tales, the stories of Pink on their home world. How she grew with their society, becoming one of the greatest gems on the planet to ever live. Both men yearned for adventure like Pink Diamond did, but was accepting helping the rebels really worth the risks. Could they live knowing they brought war to their societies again, after so many died the last time. Endasen then remembered an Enderian Proverb that rang in his ears "What may look like a forgettable weak link now, will become a glorious glistening starlight in the years to follow." the planet Pink Diamond controlled may be a backwater now, but why take away the chance to shine like stars? Endasen sighed and spoke first.

"Captain, if I may speak, why leave newcomers to become forgotten relics of the past when we can save them from tyranny they are unaware of?" Endasen asked with Meligal looking away and thinking of someone dear to him. If they were here, would they accept what decision he'd make? Didn't matter for right now, he relented and gave his answer.

"Alright Rose Quartz, Tell your rebel friends we will help you in this war to follow. Though our own empire may brand us traitors to save themselves, we shall save whatever lives on the world of Earth. Give us the location of your headquarters and we shall arrive shortly when our repairs our done." Meligal said with a wave of relief washing over Rose's face.

"Thank you, so much for coming to our aid. This may be the spark of true change within the Gem Empire, if anything else we can at least save THIS planet from their clutches. I shall send over the coordinates for us to meet, hope to see you soon. Kelish-shaaran Captain." Rose Said with a bow and an Enderian phrase for thanks and goodbye.

"Slenick Unurom Quartz." Meligal said his own honor phrase farewell and cut off the transmission.

"Your whole fleet will be deemed traitors by the empire." the repairman remarked with Meligal shaking his head at the remark.

"I'd rather be a traitor than have a guilty conscious knowing we did nothing to aid Pink Diamond. Besides, I'd say the diamonds deserve this in my opinion." Meligal retorted with a sly smile.

"Well said sir, those pompous bastards had this coming for a while, though we should inform the fleet of our decision." Endasen said with a small chuckle.

"Oh I'm sure they're already aware. Transmission went to the whole fleet should hear back responses right now actually." Meligal said looking to the pilot who got the transmission.

"That it did sir, and the other captains have agreed, they want to help out in this rebellion. Seems the fleet is with us sir." the pilot said with a smile on their face. The repairmen on the other hand sighed and made his own remark.

"We'll finish the repairs, but we aren't associating with this after we're done." He said with a look of anger in his eyes.

"Understood, finish up and get out of here, the Kala-Illiras fleet will be moving to war soon." Meligal remarked looking to Endasen next. "Lieutenant get our men ready for war, we'll need them prepared for this." he said.

"Yes sir." Endasen said with a salute before running off the bridge to the crew quarters.

Meligal would then look to the stars outside the bridge and pondered what the future would hold. How would the war unfold, and what would happen to his crew during it, whatever happens next, he knew he'd be ready for it. He sighed as the prospect of this war loomed over his head, the Gem war would begin.
