Prologue
Principal Wartz stepped up to the podium, scanning a sea of bored faces during the morning assembly. A principal's job was never done, he thought, longing for another cup of coffee.
He cleared his throat and began the morning announcements, saving the most important one for last–the new anti-bullying policy.
Parents had flooded the district with complaints, blaming Wartz for the school's 'bullying problem.' They demanded a strict, no-bullying approach, and the superintendent agreed, even suggesting the creation of a student-led club. Wartz had no choice but to comply. He was already on shaky ground with the superintendent, who was upset by his so-called "incompetence."
Some students gasped at the news, while others shrugged it off. Perhaps one student would've heard the announcement if she wasn't busy shooting spitballs at the back of a blond boy's head.
