Here's the next chapter. Hope you enjoy.
RubixJr - Hi thanks for reviewing. I wanted Lewis to have a project to do while at U.A. I never understood why being the hero course was an exclusive thing when they could teach students how to do basic emergency protocols.
Yeah, whenever Lewis gets over stressed, he usually hides. It has been a habit of his for years.
Djinn - Hello again. I'm not quite sure if using music is realistic, but, from what I can interpret from research, it is not completely unrealistic. Thank you for liking the idea about the club. I quite agree, imagine how little rivalry there would be if other students learned how to do basic hero stuff.
XenoLucifer – Hello there. I have few things to say about your review.
First of all, what is "bad teleportation"? Teleportation is teleportation. You are in one place and then suddenly you're in another place, it can't be bad. Lewis can certainly teleport better than I can.
I'm very aware that many people on this fandom have done teleportation. I'm not stupid. Teleportation is a very popular superpower. Am I the first to write about a person with a teleportation quirk? No. But am I the first person to write about a person called Lewis Lateo Fleetwood who has quirk that allows him to teleport when nobody sees him. Most definitely.
Furthermore, why does everybody assume I'm nerfing Lewis with his quirk? It's called character development. Lewis must learn how to control his quirk at a hero school, hence 'My Hero Academia'. Every other character in the franchise has a limit to their quirks. Just because its non-canonical fanfiction, doesn't mean I want to make him OP. If he doesn't have these limitations, then this story would be BORING. Both to write and to read. Making a character that has to endure life and personal difficulties is basic storytelling and something I want to maintain.
Lastly, Lewis is much more than just his quirk. He is person who was traumatised at early age and dreams of improving hero society for everybody. He's shy and recluse but loves to able to make friends and have a family that he never really had. He is slightly obsessed with cats and loves to stay indoors in the warm when it snows or rains. Lewis is not a teleporter that likes normal human things. He is a human that happens to have teleportation quirk.
Thank you for reviewing and sorry for getting upset with you.
WilliamLeonis - I quite agree, I don't think I would be able to do it either. Thank you so much. Your support means a lot to me.
Neo Infinity - Thank you. There is an unusual number of Deku/harem stories. It's probably because Midoriya is so wholesome and can be paired with literally any female in the franchise. Yeah, sorry about Ochako. She's cute and all, but I think she would be better suited with Midoriya. They are just adorable together.
Melissa definitely. She's another favourite of mine. (Why are all the girls in MHA best girls? It's so unfair.) I think I may have to rewatch the movie because I can't remember anything about it.

Chapter 11: A Prison of Their Own Creation
Arena Halls
Aizawa had persuaded Midnight to deal with Lewis as he felt she would do a better job than him. The dominatrix themed heroine, already busy with hosting the sports festival, followed Iida to the storage closet which was already surrounded by a few of Lewis' classmates.
Midnight sighed and knocked on the door.
"Fleetwood, can you come out please," she persuaded.
"Ms Midnight," came the nervous voice of Lewis from inside the closet, "I'm sorry, but I don't think I can at the moment. I'll be out in a few minutes…I just need to be in here, sorry."
"The festival is going to start soon. You don't have a few minutes," Midnight countered.
Lewis was silently for a few seconds.
"Well, then Iida can do the speech. I'm fairly sure he had already come up with a speech," Lewis replied.
"That may be true, Fleetwood…" Iida said, earning strange looks from his classmates.
'Really Iida," they collective thought in exasperation.
"…but you have been given the responsibility to represent U.A's newest heroes to the world. The Sport Festival success relies on first impressions. Imagine how many of our peers you would disappoint if-"
"Iida," Momo warned.
Iida frowned and realised what he had said.
"Oh, my apologies, Fleetwood. I thought I was being encouraging," Iida sheepishly apologised.
"It's fine," Lewis called back, sounding even more nervous than before.
Midnight sighed again, "Fleetwood, why did U.A decide that you would be doing the speech."
Lewis hesitated, "I got the most points at the entrance exam."
"Exactly. And why did you get the most points in the entrance exam," Midnight continued.
"…well, I can't remember the actual reason. I was overwhelmed by the fact that I got in an-"
"You were able to demonstration your heroic ambitions and prove to U.A that you deserve to be in this school," Midnight interrupted before he could start rambling, "Would you think that U.A would make you do the speech if they didn't think you can do it."
"…I suppose not," Lewis answered.
"Good. Can you know come out now. The festival is going to start," Midnight said as she waited patiently for him to open the door.
Eventually, the storage closet door unlocked, and Lewis stepped out with a small smile.
"Alright," he sighed, "let's do this," he said.
His classmates gave him encouragement and pats on the back. Iida offered him the speech that he wrote for the festival.
Lewis was reluctant at first but decided to take his speech just in case.
Commentator's Box
Through a radio, Midnight informed Aizawa that Lewis was out and doing alright. He sighed in relief and held his phone to his ear.
"He's out," Aizawa told Xaphan, who was still on the line.
"Really? That didn't take long," Xaphan said.
"You seem surprised," Aizawa commented.
"This was not the first time he has done this. The worst one was the time he had to go on stage to get a reward from his school. It was only a small audience, but the fact that he had to be on stage all by himself made him panic. It took us a whole day to find him. He managed to hide himself behind a boiler in the schools' basement." Xaphan explained.
"I can see how that would be stressful for a child," Aizawa lazily mused.
"Child? It happened a month before he came to Japan," Xaphan told him.
Aizawa looked at his phone in disbelief and then in annoyance.
"Really?" he asked in exhaustion.
"Do you want to know what the ironic part is," Xaphan said in humorous tone, "he was being given a reward for perfect attendance."
Aizawa held the phone away from his face as Xaphan roared in laughter. He still thought the incident was hilarious.
Entryway into Arena
Lewis breathed shakily as saw the exit. He could hear the roar of the crowd of thousands and thousands of people echoing down the tunnel.
He gulped as thought of how many people are out there.
Before he left the closet, he may have used his quirk a couple of times. Just enough to gain a bit of confidence. Although, it would seem it was not enough.
Momo heard him gulp and gave him a sympathetic look. She placed a hand on his shoulder which him jump in surprise.
"It will be alright. You have the whole class supporting you," she whispered to him.
Lewis looked at Bakugo and Todoroki who were waiting up ahead. Their faces were calm, but fierce. They were eager to defeat anybody in their way.
Todoroki noticed Lewis' look and gave him a fiery glare, making him look down at the floor with a small yelp.
"Well, most of the class are supporting you," Momo corrected herself as she saw the exchange.
Lewis hummed sadly.
"Hey there!" announced Present Mic from the commentator's box, "Make some noise sports fans! Get them cameras rolling, media audience! This year we're bringing you the hottest performances in U.A' Sport Festival history guaranteed! ARE YOU READY!"
'Okay this happening! This is happening right now!' Lewis internally panicked.
"Let me hear you scream as our students make their way to the main stage," Present Mic continued.
That was their cue for the class to go out into the arena. As fanfare music played, the students started to walk towards the exit.
Lewis started to walk backwards away from the exit.
'Maybe nobody will notic-' he thought before he felt to strong hands on his shoulders.
He looked around to see Sato on his left and Shouji on his right pushing him towards the exit.
Shouji's arm mouth leaned down towards him.
"Nice try, Fleetwood," he told him as he grinned.
Lewis smiled sheepishly, "Oh, I actually forgot something in the changing room…"Shouji raised an eyebrow, "…but it can wait. It's not essential," Lewis said instantly changing his mind.
"Make sure to act natural," Sato told him, "We don't want to make it look like we're holding you hostage as we walk out."
"That's exactly what you are doing," Lewis mumbled in English as they walked out into the bright light.
Lewis stepped out of the tunnel and gasped at how many people are here. The arena had three levels of seating which surround a grassy tack field in the centre.
He knew that they weren't looking at him specifically, but he couldn't help it. It was suffocating as if he was the centre of the universe, and everything decided to collapse on him at once. It was a wonder that he hasn't fallen over yet.
He decided to keep his head down and stare at the grass on the ground. He needed to ignore every sound except for Present Mic's as he announced the students.
"…It's the Hero Course students of 1A!" Present Mic declared.
Lewis was only able to catch the last part of his speech, but he knew that the English teacher was putting too much hype into their introduction.
"They hadn't been given nearly as much screen time, but this next group is still full of talent. Welcome Hero Course 1B!" Present Mic announced.
Lewis glanced up to see the other Hero Course students. He was able to recognise some of the students including Kendo and the rest of the girls which made him smile. However, he also spotted the silver haired boy who shouted at him the other day.
"Next up is General Studies classes C, D, and E!" Present Mic continued, significantly less enthusiastic then the first two introductions.
Lewis looked and saw Shinso leading the classes. The General Studies students didn't seem too thrilled by the lacklustre introduction and either rolled their eyes or glared at the Hero Course students.
"Support classes, F, G and H!"
'He could at least try a bit more with that one,' Lewis thought as heard the voice hero introduce Hatsume's classes.
"And finally, the Business classes I, J and K!" he finished
'I didn't even know U.A had a business class,' Lewis thought guiltily.
All 160 students stood in front of stand where Midnight stood cracked her whip. She gave Lewis a look as if to ask if he was doing alright to which Lewis responded with a nod and thumbs up. Midnight gave a small nod before addressing the crowd.
"Now the introductory speech," Midnight proclaimed, flicking her hair, and posing for the audience.
Lewis hummed in disappointment when the men in the audience began to chatter in excitement seeing Midnight.
"Somebody should talk to Ms Midnight about what she is wearing," Kirishima muttered with a small blush on his cheeks.
"Is that really appropriate apparel for a high school," Fumikage added.
"In her defence, she was a pro-hero before becoming a teacher," Lewis argued, "I doubt that she would wear that if she was just a teacher."
Fumikage shrugged in understanding before turning back to the stand.
"Silence everyone," Midnight ordered as she cracked her whip again.
"Okay the whip might be a bit too much," Lewis quietly admitted.
"And for the student pledge," she continued, "we have: Lewis Fleetwood."
Lewis breathed in sharply and ignored the eyes that turned to him. He slowly walked towards the stand to where Midnight was waiting for him.
"Wait, Fleetwood is doing it?" Kendo whispered in shock as she watched him walk to the stage.
"I didn't think he would want to do it," Tokage whispered back in concern.
"He didn't," Hagakure told them, "He only found out like ten minutes ago and locked himself in the storage closet."
Kendo and Tokage shared a look when they heard this.
"Can't really blame him," Tokage shrugged.
Lewis had made it onto the stage and his knees almost buckled under the thousands stares. He made his way towards the microphone that was set up for him, but before he could get any further Midnight caught his attention.
"Just say something about how we are glad to be here and how you hope to do your best or you can read from Iida's script," Midnight advised, "oh and make sure you end with a 'Plus Ultra'. People like that."
Lewis nodded and thanked her before making his way to the microphone.
Somehow, the arena being dead silent was worse than it being loud. Without the cheering he wouldn't be able to hear the students whisper to each other.
"He looks like he's going to faint," one whisper said.
"Is this really our Year Representative?" another person muttered bitterly.
Lewis took a deep breath and spoke.
"Hello and welcome-" he said in English, "-sorry. Wrong language," he apologised earning some giggles from the students.
He cleared his throat and started again.
"Hello and welcome to U.A Sports Festival…we are glad to be here….and we hope to do our best," he said hesitantly.
He realised that he should probably say something more than just that. He decided to turn to plan B and took Iida's speech from out of his pocket. He unfolded the paper he was given and quickly read over what he had written.
"It is my privilege and…honour to…introduce the newest…heroes that U.A is teaching," he read out loud.
Reading from a script seemed worse. He could hear giggling from the students at his incompetence again, but this time he heard some of his classmates shush them which didn't help at all. It just added to the noise.
"…we all have our motivations to be here…"
Motivations.
That word echoed through his mind.
He never really thought about his motivations for doing any of this. Well, at least not recently. He had been too distracted with the process that he hadn't thought of the reason.
'What are my motivations?" Lewis questioned himself as he looked out at the sea of people, 'What am I doing? Doing something I hate at an event I do not like.'
'Why am I here?'
He started to remember the life he had had.
The sadness of losing his parents.
The loneliness he felt as he became antisocial.
The pain of every bully beating him up because of how weird they thought he was.
The hatred for being rejected by every hero school in the country.
He remembered it all.
However, those were his old motivations. Since he came here, he had seen an unnecessary amount of cut-throat competitiveness. As a consequence, his classmates, who had also worked hard to be in this position, had been isolated from the rest of the school.
Lewis now felt rage and spite towards the hero society. Making children fight and compete against each other in order to be the best. And if those children didn't have to right sort of quirk, they discriminated against which leads on to bitterness and villainy. The worst part is that people think this was normal and the only way to become a hero is by stepping on others.
Lewis can only imagine how many people were like Bakugo and Todoroki, how many villains were created, how many families ripped apart and how many children left parentless.
Everybody is stuck in the prison of their own creation.
Lewis frowned in anger. He has now found his motivation.
"…so what is my motivation," Lewis said surprising the audience by his newfound confidence, "my motivation to be here today is my parents. Alister and Lilith Fleetwood," he told everybody.
The reaction was a bit of a mix. Some awed as they found it sweet. Others rolled their eyes at they thought it was just typical PR rubbish for the media. Some just stayed silent as they didn't see the point Lewis was making.
Lewis sighed at what he was going to say next. He didn't want to say it, but he had no choice.
"They died in villain attack when I was eight years old," he announced.
Everybody fell silent at what he admitted. They were shocked at what he said and how casual his tone was. 1A were the most shocked. Lewis rarely talked about his parents and when he did, he would use the present tense. They just assumed that they were back in England.
"Well, I say villain attack, but it was more of accident really. A hero cornered a villain with a self-destruction quirk in a public place. The villain informed them of how he would explode if he were under too much pressure, the hero didn't listen to him, the villain panicked, and my parents were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't blame the villain nor the hero, partially because it was an accident, but also what would be the point. No matter who I blamed, the result was still the same."
He left that last part hang for a second.
"Still, I think that the most devastating part about all of this, apart from the death of four people and the fifteen who had sustained injuries, was the reason why the hero ignored the villain. I was doing some research on that hero and found out that they were one villain away from beating their arrest record. They sacrificed the lives and safety of innocent people for recognition at the hero billboard. A bloody popularity competition. Again, I don't blame them. Their careers were on the line, and it was also a long time ago. Although I couldn't help but wonder if things have turned out a little differently if the hero valued safety over competition."
Lewis looked out over the students and saw their sad expressions. Satisfied by their response, Lewis continued.
"My motivation to become a hero stems from that moment. I wanted to become a hero that protects the innocent and help those who are in need, including villains. And I'm sure that every single student share that same want. From the hero course who use their quirks to protect and defend…"
He gestured towards to his and Kendo's class.
"…to the General Studies who have demonstrated their intelligence and determination by being accepted into one of the most elite schools in the world…"
The students in the General Studies seemed surprised that they were mentioned let alone complimented. They saw the media cameras train on them rather then on the Hero students and couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the attention.
"…to the Support Department whose technological ingenuity is a necessity to every practising hero…"
Hatsume grinned when the camera was on the Support Department. She began showing off the support gear she brought with her,
"…and finally, to the Business classes who…er…they…er…" he panically looked towards the Business classes as he began to stumble in his speech, "…who…well I don't know about you, but I have no idea how to file a tax return."
Some members of the audience laughed at his joke. Lewis sighed in relief as the Business classes seemed happy with what he said.
"Every student here is important for maintaining peace and improving society for everyone. You may have intended to scout out the newest hero course students, but I can assure you that every student here is a potential hero in their own right and deserve your attention. Throughout this Sports Festival they will demonstrate their determination to all of you here. For we can be heroes…just for one day."
He left a pause to breath, but the audience took it as an opportunity to cheer at his speech. Lewis couldn't believe it was going so well.
"And so, join me and say," he reared back his fist and pumped it into the air, "PLUS ULTRA!"
"PLUS ULTRA!" everybody cheered back, before a round of applause erupted throughout the arena.
Lewis looked calm on the outside, but on the inside, he was freaking out at what just happened.
'Where did that come from?' he thought, 'I really hope U.A doesn't make me do this again.'
"I couldn't believe Fleetwood had it in him," Momo said as she clapped with the rest of the audience.
"I believed," Iida said, "Fleetwood can be confident when he needs to be, and he has proven himself."
"Iida, you couldn't stop shaking throughout the whole thing," Tsuyu pointed out from beside him.
"Err…that was just me warming up for the first event, that's all," Iida excused as he wiped his brow.
Midnight laid her hand on Lewis' shoulder and smiled proudly.
"Well done, Fleetwood. That was really good," she complimented.
"Thank you, Ms Midnight," Lewis sighed out, relived that was all done with.
Then Midnight's face became a predatory grin and Lewis started to sweat nervously.
"I quite liked shy, nervous Fleetwood, but I think I like proud, enthusiastic Fleetwood even more," she teased.
Lewis made a sound between a squeak and a yelp and quickly left the stage, leaving behind a laughing Midnight.
Kendo sighed and shook her head as she watched Lewis' retreat. She glanced at Tokage who was writing on her hand.
"Are you seriously taking notes on how to fluster Fleetwood from Midnight?" she deadpanned.
Tokage shrugged shamelessly, "It might be important later on in the future."
Kendo sighed in annoyance.
"Without further ado, let's get started," Midnight announced, "This is when you start feeling the pain. The first fateful game of the festival is…"
She paused as the large screen behind her announced that the first game would be…an obstacle race.
According to the diagram, contenders would need to exit the arena and run 4km around it. The finish line was the arena entrance.
'That doesn't seem so bad,' Lewis thought happily before realising he probably jinxed it…again.
"Now then, take your positions contenders," Midnight announced as pointed to the large exit on the far side of the arena.
Start Line
The tunnel out of the arena was too narrow for everybody and Lewis knew it. The best strategy was to keep to the back and avoid the inevitable crush. He had seen the exit so using his quirk won't be an issue, but Lewis was worried that people might get injured.
He looked to the walls of the exit tunnel and saw some places he could grip onto to direct the flow of students.
The first of three green lights turned off, indicating that it was almost time to start. Lewis could see the look of determination on everybody's faces. Even the General Studies students, who were reluctant to compete, looked eager.
Finally, as the last green light turned off, everybody charged into the tunnel. All except for Lewis who casually walked over to the jam of students. He sighed sadly as he could hear the grunts and groans of students being crushed.
"And we are off to a racing start," Present Mic commented, "how about some commentary mummy man?"
'Mummy man?' Lewis thought, 'Is Aizawa up there? How did that happen?'
The silence from Present Mic's co-commentator confirmed Lewis' suspicions.
Lewis managed to slip into the crowd and duck down out sight. He reappeared on the wall of the tunnel and witnessed the carnage going on. Lewis searched though the jam but didn't see anybody getting too hurt which was a relief. He was about to do the same thing he did in the school halls the other day when he felt the temperature drop significantly.
"Oh no," Lewis muttered as he realised who it was.
Lewis was able to get out of the way in time before an icy frost enveloped the end of the tunnel and turned it into ice. Lewis could see Todoroki move through the crowd and made her escape whilst trapping the feet of students in a block of ice.
Lewis hummed in annoyance but was relieved that only a small number of people were trapped. He could see some of his classmates break through using their quirks and follow Todoroki. Lewis started to see the students are filtering out of the tunnel and were attempting cross the ice covered ground.
Fifty or so students were left trapped in the ice and nobody was helping them. Luckily, Lewis had prepared for this appearing behind one of the trapped, Lewis flicked his hand and a crowbar appeared in his hand. He began to chisel away at the ice, making sure not to heat the person's foot.
"Hey what are you doing?" he asked as spun around the best he could to look at him.
"Getting you out," Lewis answered as he broke away enough of the ice to set his foot free.
"Why?" he questioned suspiciously.
"Didn't you listen?" Lewis told him as he set his second foot free, "I want to be a hero. Now keep moving your feet to get the circulation going again."
The student frowned, "You sound like this has happened to you before."
"It has," Lewis deadpanned, "now get moving."
Commentator's Box
Aizawa used this moment to have a nap while everybody was busy. He didn't know how Present Mic had talked him into this, but he was determined to get some sleep no matter what. He thought Lewis' speech was…inspiring maybe, but Aizawa doubt it would any effect. People were very set in the ways.
Now if only he could some peace without having to worry about Lewis' unusual and against the flow behaviour.
"What's this! Fleetwood is doing something unusual and against the flow!" Present Mic announced, making Aizawa's eyes snap open.
He looked towards the screen of the exit and sighed in annoyance. Instead of his student actually competing in the race he had chosen to help others. Lewis was almost done freeing the last few students by the time Aizawa looked up.
"This was exactly what he did at the entrance exams," Aizawa mumbled as she saw some previously frozen students helping Lewis.
"Look at that, ladies and gentlemen, an awesome demonstration of sportsmanship," Present Mic announced.
Aizawa leaned back in his chair and watched how Lewis freed the last student.
"He's going to be the death of me," Aizawa muttered in exhaustion.
Racetrack
Lewis was back to running (well sliding because of the ice covered track). He noticed that up ahead many students have stopped in the middle of the course. Once Lewis got a proper look, he couldn't blame them.
Towering over them were an army of robot villains from the entrance exam. A few 1p, 2p and 3p villains are near the front of the crowd while eight 0p villains were at the back.
Lewis used the opportunity when nobody was focused on him to disappear to behind the crowd. He could see that Todoroki had been here due to the frozen and broken 0p.
He really needed to have a word with her about safety.
Lewis tried to come up with a plan to get rid of the robots while making a path for the students to use. He looked at how they were arranged closely together and got an idea. But it would take a lot of planning. He searched around and saw Momo standing beside an iron cannon which he assumed she made from her quirk:
Creation: gives her the ability to create any non-living material/object from her exposed skin by transforming the molecular structure of her fat cells.
Lewis often wondered how she discovered she had that quirk.
She saw her aim the cannon at one of 0p, ready to fire it and needed to stop her now.
"Wait," Lewis told her as he appeared next to Momo, surprising her.
"Fleetwood-"
"Aim the cannon at the last one on the end, I have an idea," he told her before ducking down and disappearing.
Momo looked around in confusion for him but decided to do what he said and aimed the cannon at the furthest 0p.
"Hey how did he get up there!" a student shouted from the crow.
Everybody looked around and Momo was surprised to see Lewis was sitting on the shoulder of the 0p next to the won she was aiming at.
"Fleetwood, please be careful," she said in worry.
On the 0p
The 0p on the end detected fly past its censor. It slowly turned towards where it had come and identified Lewis Fleetwood sitting on 0p shoulder.
Lewis gave it a small wave as he swung his legs casually over the side.
"I really hope this works," Lewis said out loud, a bead of sweat rolling down his head.
The 0p had been programmed to not harm the students but batter them away gently. So, when it identified Lewis, it raised a fist and sent a swat at the 0p next to it.
Lewis was able to use his quirk in time before the fist collided with 0p he was on and disappear behind some rubble. The 0p that was hit, leaned dangerously at the force of the collision until it toppled over into the next 0p.
Which collided with the next 0p.
Which collided with the next one.
And next one.
And the next one until all the 0p fell over and completely destroyed.
"What!" Present Mic shouted through the speakers, "Fleetwood had taken out most of the 0p like they were dominoes! What is this a cartoon!"
The crowd of the students, who were staring in shock at the carnage, then witnessed Lewis fly kick the neck of a 1p out of nowhere. Once it was taken down, Lewis stood upon the rubble of the 1p and gave Momo a grin.
"Okay, you can fire now," he told her.
Momo gave him a bemused expression before she turned to her cannon and fired at the last 0p standing.
Meanwhile, Lewis was directing everybody to go through the path he made to the left of first destroyed 0p, happy that he was able to help them get through.
The Teacher's Seats
Power Loader held his head in his hands while Vlad King comforted him.
"I was expecting them to break one or two. Not destroy them all," Power Loader moaned.
"It's quite a shame that they topple over so easily. Quite a design fault," Thirteen observed without thinking.
Thirteen heard a cough and turned to see Vlad give them an annoyed look while Power Loader's head lowered further in despair.
"Oh Maijima, I'm so sorry I wasn't thinking," Thirteen apologised frantically.
"It's fine Thirteen," Power Loader sighed.
They all heard a squeaky laugh from their Principle and turned to the intelligent rodent.
"Oh my, quite an interesting strategy. It's almost worthy of one of my creation," Nezu laughed maniacally as he sipped his tea.
The teachers sweat dropped at their Principle's antics.
The Fall
Lewis had been helping student's cross the next obstacle known as the Fall. It involved a large gorge filled with rock pillars which were all connected by a metal rope.
His mind was starting to get hazy again, so he decided to only use his quirk for emergencies.
Lewis had no problem crossing the Fall with his of gymnastic skills, but it was clear that some students were struggling. People like Sero, Bakugo and Tsuyu were able to cross with their quirks, but other didn't have that advantage.
Lewis spotted the familiar haircut of Kinoko as she tried to edge her way to a stone pillar. Lewis crossed to her, walking on the metal rope like a tightrope walker.
"Kinoko," Lewis called out.
The mushroom girl gasped in surprise at her name being called and almost feel off.
"F-fleetwood," she sputtered as she looked up to him.
"Are you alright?" he asked in concern.
'He's worried about me,' Kinoko thought, hiding her blush beneath her hair.
"Y-y-yeah, I'm fine," she told him, "Just struggling slightly."
Lewis hummed and looked around.
"Well, I can carry you if you want," Fleetwood offered no longer feeling shy due to his quirk, "Or I can-"
"YES," Kinoko answered a little too eagerly.
Lewis blinked at the abrupt response while Kinoko blushed harder.
"I mean, sure you can. That would be kind of you," she corrected herself, trying to act casual.
Lewis smiled and picked her up in a princess carry, causing her to squeak in embarrassment. He began to tightrope walk to next pillar. Kinoko was pretty light, so it wasn't much of a struggle to carry her.
Lewis glanced at Kinoko's face and saw her eyes through her bangs. He was quite surprised to see that they were brown with white Xs for pupils.
What happened next was the result of two main causes.
The first was that Lewis not thinking straight and had a boost of confidence he is not used to.
The second is that Kinoko was already internally freaking out that her crush was carrying her like a princess.
So, when Lewis exclaimed, "Wow, Kinoko your eyes are so pretty," you can see understand how Kinoko panicked and accidently activated her quirk.
Mushroom: allows her to spread various types of fungus spores from her body.
The other students were greeted with the unusual sight of a person covered in head to toe in mushrooms carrying a girl who was apologising frantically to him.
One of those students was a teen with black skin and bright white hair. His facial features were unknown except for his white eyes and teeth that grinned menacingly. The teen witnessed the sight of his classmate being carried in what could only be described as romantic across the fall. Once Kinoko had picked off the mushrooms on her carriers face and he saw Lewis, the teen growled in jealousy.
Having removed the last mushroom off him, Lewis went back to help others who need it. It was an weird experience being covered in mushrooms, Lewis was just lucky that he could see properly. Kinoko ran on ahead, apologising once more before she left.
A shout for help sounded from somewhere in the Fall and Lewis was there immediately. A student had slipped off the metal rope and was clutching dearly to it.
Lewis knew he was not strong enough to pull him up in that position and so walked onto the metal rope and, being careful to not knock him off, climbed down beside him.
"Alright, I'm going to push you up. Are you ready?" Lewis asked.
The student nodded.
"Okay," he used one hand and grabbed the heel of his foot, "one, two, three!" Lewis chanted and pushed the student up onto the rope.
He was able to get his leg up over the rope and get his balance back. Lewis was expecting him to the same for him and reached out his hand. The student only just looked back at him with a guilty look. He mouthed the word 'sorry' at him before going to the stone pillar, leaving Lewis behind.
Lewis watched him leave, a betrayed look in his eyes. He knew he could swing up or use his quirk, but that was not the point. He had helped and risked his own safety so other students can have the opportunity to complete the race. And this was the thanks he gets.
This was the one of the reasons why he hated competitions. Everybody is betraying everybody over something that was not important.
Lewis knew he was only getting angry because of the Phineas Gage problem. His judgement and evaluation were being overridden and he needed to calm down.
But he didn't want to calm down.
He wanted to show everybody that he should not take his help for granted and prove that he was not an oblivious door mat.
They wanted him to compete. Then he'll give them what they wanted.
A smirk appeared on his face as he let go of the rope he was still handing onto and plunged into the gorge and disappeared.
I'm really sorry by how long it took to write this chapter. I kept hitting writer's block after writer's block after writer's block. In fact, this chapter was supposed to be longer, but I just couldn't write anymore. I hope it's all right and that I didn't disappoint you.
I think the most difficult thing was Lewis' speech. The first drafts of it were too miserable and I needed to find the right balance of Lewis' explaining his motivations whilst encouraging and persuading the audience to look at the students equally. Which was must harder than I thought.
I decided to write some of my other stories to help with my writer's block, so expect updates from them soon.
Anyway, I've got a headache for looking at this screen for too long, so if you did like it then thank you so much and if you didn't like it then I'm sorry.
