Here's the next chapter. Hope you enjoy.
RubixJr – Sorry, I honestly didn't mean to make it so stressful. I think I got carried away with they way the story is going. I'll try to add some funny filler chapters in the future. I quite agree that Lewis has a long way to go, but nothing easy is ever worth doing. Thank you so much for your support and I hope you enjoy this next chapter.
Neo Infinity – Thank you so much. I agree that it did sound childish and naïve, but that's kind of the point. It's a common occurrence in the MHA universe that the drive to become a hero starts when they are children, and they carry these expectations when they go to hero schools. Throughout this story, Lewis will learn that these expectations are not always met and how he deals with them. Sorry if that wasn't clear in the story.
djinn – Yeah, I had no idea why I struggled to write the 1st event, but I'm glad it's done and dusted. I thought it was about time Lewis learns a new skill and it will be the main topic for the next few chapters. Thanks for the support.
Lelouch of Zero – He sure did. Whether he can control it or not is an entirely different matter. It is a shame that people don't trust him yet, but it's still early days and Lewis has his entire school career to solve the problem. I wouldn't say it was impossible, though. Just really, really difficult. Thank you so much.
Sen Tobi – Thank you for the pointing out the mistakes again. Hope you enjoy the next chapter.
Snake551g – Firstly, I have never experienced such a whiplash from reading those last two sentences. I found that very funny.
Secondly, you make some excellent points and the reason why Lewis is acting like a child is because…well…he is one. Children in the MHA universe see a hero as a noble pursuit to make change and maintain peace and it's the same for Lewis. He doesn't want anyone to suffer like he has and the only way he can think of doing that is by being a hero. He will soon realise that being hero will not be enough and will need to find other ways like the club he wants to set up. The reason he is being stupid, even though he is presented as intelligent, is because intelligence and cleverness are not the same. Intelligence is being able to do calculus or know the capitals of the world. Cleverness is realising that becoming a hero won't be enough to bring peace. It is going to be an eventual thing, but Lewis will soon learn that society is much more complex than he first imagined. It won't be easy for him, but he will succeed, I promise.
I'm glad you liked the character, nonetheless, and I agree that there seems to be a contradiction, but it's supposed to be like that. It's unclear now, but I promise it will work out.
Anonymous – Thank you so much. Perhaps I was too harsh on Kuroiro. I didn't mean to make him so vengeful.
And yes, Monoma is an asshole. People seemed to feel sorry for him for some reason and justify his actions, but I disagree. He may have an ineffective quirk and has been bullied for it in the past, but there is no reason to be (excuse my language) a dick about it.
You make a very great point, and I will demonstrate this when Lewis meets Stain for the first time. Lewis feels isolated in society. He doesn't like the commercialisation of heroes (i.e the Sports Festival or the Hero Billboard), but he doesn't like how the villain side because they are killing people. Not only that, but he wouldn't like the Meta Liberation Front because they are supporting anarchy. This isolation would obviously motivate Lewis in his life, and I can't wait to explain how. Plus, he has a harem so it's not all bad for him.
Dikratsblim – Thank you so much. It takes me a while to figure out the chemistry between my OC and a cannon character, so I'm really happy that you feel that way, and it is honestly inspiring to write more. There does seem an extraordinary lack of British characters in MHA fanfiction (hence the running gag where everybody thinks Lewis is American). We need more representation!
Anyway, thank you so much and I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Chapter 13: The Girl Born With Everything
Lewis looked blankly at where his hand should be. Not quite believing what was happening.
He blinked. Not there.
He blinked again. No luck.
He blinked one last time. His hand was still gone.
He stared in bewilderment at his stump arm. He waved his other hand just above it just in case it suddenly turned invisible for some strange reason. If it were invincible, surely his other hand would collide with it. But no, his hand passed through the space where his right hand should be.
"Huh," Lewis uttered, "that's weird."
He may have seemed calm on the inside, but mentally he was panicking.
'OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! My hand is gone! It's gone! Where is it!? Did it drop off suddenly! Hands don't just drop off! Is this leprosy!? Who catches leprosy these days!? Where would I have caught leprosy!? Can you catch leprosy!? I'm pretty sure I would have noticed if I caught leprosy!?' he looked frantically around the ground of the arena just in case it did just fall off before taking a deep breath, 'okay calm down. I'm fairly sure that I didn't catch leprosy, but why is it gone? It should be on the end of my arm. The same place it has been for fifteen years.'
He gasped when he felt somebody grab his hand. Not the attached one, the missing one. It felt too real to be a phantom pain and why did it feel somebody was waving it about?
A Few Moments Ago
Monoma felt something on the back of his head, gripping the bandannas he had around his head. Confused, Monoma reached around and pulled the mysterious thing off his head, allowing some of the bandannas to come with it. He was momentarily surprised to see that it was hand. He inspected it for a moment before he grinned victoriously.
He looked around for Kendo's team and, as expected, they were nearby. He chuckled and waved the detached hand with the bandannas in its grip at the team.
"Oh Kendo," he called catching the girls' attention, "you would betray your own class. Too bad I caught Tokage's hand and put an end to your little scheme," he called out boastfully.
Kendo and her team stared in shocked horror at the blond haired boy as he continued to chuckle and wave the hand.
"Kendo," Kinoko said, feeling ill at the sight, "why is Monoma waving a severed human hand at us?" she asked.
"I don't know, Kinoko," Kendo replied in horror, "I just don't know."
"Spooky," Reiko whispered in slight awe since she was a fan of horror.
"Oh ho," Monoma proclaimed, overhearing what they say, "you don't have to keep up the act. I've caught you red handed, Tokage," he boasted, chuckling at his little joke.
Tokage shook her head at him, "Monoma, that's not my hand."
Monoma rolled his eyes, "I know your quirk, Tokage. Who else would it be?"
"It's not mine," Tokage insisted, "look," she said showing that her hands were firmly attached to her own arms.
Monoma blinked at the sight of her own hands. He then looked at the hand he was holding once more. He screamed in terror and dropped the hand on the ground along with his team's bandannas.
"Fleetwood, are you alright?" Asui asked as she looked towards her teammate.
Lewis had gone unusually quiet in the past few moments. Both her and Shoji looked around to see him sweating and looking around nervously whilst his right hand was stuffed into his pocket. He looked around and gave a nervous smile to his teammates.
"Oh, I'm fine. I just need…frustrated that they got away…yeah," he excused.
Asui and Shoji shared a look.
"Why do you have your hand in your pocket?" Shoji inquired.
Lewis glanced down at his arm, "…cold…it's cold."
Asui and Shoji looked up at the cloudless sky and the warm sun beating down on them before giving Lewis a sceptical look.
"What's wrong with you hand?" Shoji questioned further.
"Nothing…I swear…" he trailed off as he saw their disbelieving stares, "Okay, I didn't want you guys to freak out but…err…I think my hand…"
He closed his eyes as he slowly took his arm out of his pocket. He heard them gasp and instantly knew showing them his stump arm was a bad idea.
"But how" Asui asked, making Lewis sweat anxiously.
"I-I-I don't know. It just happened," Lewis stuttered as he kept his eyes closed.
"Why didn't you show us?" Shoji questioned.
"I didn't want to scare you," he answered.
"Why would you gaining us points scare us?"
….
….
….
….
"…wait what?" he muttered in English as he opened his eyes.
He gasped when he saw that his hand had returned attached to the end of his arm. Not only had it returned, but it was gripping a few bandannas with varying points.
"What?"
"What's this!" Present Mic proclaimed, "Team Fleetwood has jumped to fifth place while Team Monoma has dropped down the ranks! How did he do that!?"
The audience cheered at his team's return, his teammates congratulated him, and Team Monoma looked at him in anger and confusion.
Lewis ignored all of this and just stared at his hand in astonishment.
"What?"
Hero Agency Office
In a dark room, a tall, thin man peered through his spectacles at one of the several televisions on his desk. He didn't care much for the Sports Festival, but he watched it out of courtesy.
It was the same every year, strong quirked students showing off the skills and weaker students left in the shadows. However, this year was slightly different.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary about Lewis Fleetwood. He liked the speech he made and how he performed in the first event. But what really caught the man's eye, was his quirk. He assumed it was some sort of teleportation quirk since he hadn't seen him move at all, but they always seem to have some limitations to them.
But that's when he noticed something that nobody else in the world had noticed. Not even Lewis himself.
His hand started to fade away and disappear. It was quite extraordinarily to see. The hand seemed to become less opaque and then almost transparent and then it was gone. The man saw the whole exchange of Lewis panicking and then glanced at another tv set to see that his hand appeared on another student. Then, as the student dropped it, the hand turned transparent and disappeared once more.
The man hummed in interest, 'That could be useful,' he told himself.
He picked up his office phone and pressed a button on it and waited for his sidekick to pick up.
"Sir Nighteye, how can I help," a voice chirped happily on the other end of the phone.
"Bubble Girl, do you still have the internship form U.A sent us?" Sir Nighteye stoically asked, much to his sidekick's surprise.
"I was just about to shred it like you ordered," Bubble Girl informed before she gasped excitedly, "no way are we getting a first year intern? You never requested one before."
"Just bring me the form," Sir Knighteye sighed in annoyance, making Bubble Girl gulp.
"R-right away, Sir," she complied before she placed the phone down.
U.A Arena
"Damn it," Monoma muttered angrily, "I thought he just had a teleportation quirk."
Tsuburaba looked up at his teammate, "Should we go after them?" he asked, making Kurioro look up hoping he would say yes.
Before Monoma could reply, a hate filled shout caught his attention.
"YOU BASATARDS THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME!" Bakugo shouted as used his explosions to propel himself through the air as his team followed him worridly.
Monoma gritted his teeth, "Forget him. We need to deal with that one first," he commanded as glared at the incoming Bakugo.
Kuroiro wanted to argue but chose to keep silent. He glared at Lewis who was looking at his hand in confusion.
"Pathetic," he muttered, "what does she see in him."
"We have company," Shoji informed urgently.
Lewis and Asui looked around to see Team Shinso approaching them calmly. They could see that Ojiro, Aoyama and a heavyset boy with greyish hair from Class 1B were carrying a smirking Shinso.
Lewis decided to talk about his hand to Midoriya later. He was about to warn Shoji to keep to the right of their team, so Aoyama won't be able to use his naval laser, but he noticed something.
The eyes of the team. They were glazed over like there was no human thought behind them. It was like the entire team was hypnotised by somebody. Looking up at the only person who didn't look enthralled, Lewis could tell who the culprit was.
Shinso smirked, his tired eyes filling with mischief.
"So, we met again, Fleetwood. It seems your team is doing well," Shinso called out.
Lewis frowned and was about to reply but his mind stopped him.
'Wait! Think about it. If he can hypnotise his team with ease, he can do it to you,' Lewis thought, 'I just need to know how and fast.'
"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue," Shinso mocked as he ordered his team to approach his.
"Fleetwood, what are we going to do?" Asui whispered, slightly unnerved by the purple haired boy.
Lewis hummed before he leaned close to Shoji's ear, "Keep your distance and don't react to anything he does. I will tap your shoulder to let you which direction to go in," he whispered.
Shoji nodded and backed away from Team Shinso.
Team Shinso sighed in annoyance, "Really? Your being cautious," he said before smirking, "I have to admit, it's an interesting change in pace. Most students wouldn't hesitate in attacking me, but not you. That must be why nobody takes you seriously."
Lewis hummed, but otherwise didn't react, 'Okay, take your time and think this through. The only possible way he can hypnotise us, that I can think of, is through touch. He can touch somebody, and they would be under their command. That explains why he is the rider so he can remain contact which means we need to keep our distance.'
Lewis glanced at the clock to see how long they have left, '10 minutes! Damn it, we can't avoid them for that long,' Lewis mentally exclaimed.
"How does it feel?" Shinso continued, "to struggle so much and not get any results. That's what society does. It provides stupid children like you with hope and then kills those dreams before you realise it's too late."
Lewis growled in frustration, the urge to talk back was getting stronger and stron- wait a moment.
'What if he doesn't administrate it through touch,' Lewis realised.
"I don't know what you want. Attention, adoration from everybody. Well, whatever it is, let me give you some advice: give up. We don't need your sympathy; we're just fine as we are," Shinso said, smirking as he saw Lewis' mouth begin to open, 'just one more push,' he thought.
Asui looked like she wanted to respond, but Lewis patted her hand before she could say anything. She glanced at Lewis' fury filled face in confusion and decided to not say anything.
Shinso grinned victoriously, "No one likes you, Fleetwood. And you can't force people to like such a stupid naïve child."
Shinso saw Lewis start to open his mouth and prepared to use his quirk on him. He was ready for any shout of denial, rage filled words or taunt that will exit throughout his mouth.
But he said nothing.
Lewis suddenly closed his mouth and smiled at Shinso much to his astonishment. He then used two fingers to pinch the side of his mouth and slid his fingers across his lips to indicate that he wasn't going to say anything.
Shinso growled in frustration, 'How did he know?' he asked himself.
"Asui, Shoji," Lewis called out to his teammates, "make sure you don't respond to whatever he says. That's how he uses his quirk."
Brainwashing: allows him to put someone in a state where they are forced to obey whatever he commands. He can only activate this power when his target verbally responds to something he says.
His teammates nodded in understanding as Shinso frowned in irritation, 'It doesn't matter. I can still fight them,' he thought.
But before he could order his teammates to do anything, Lewis called out to him.
"Hey Shinso, I think your quirk is cool and I like how you used it for the cavalry battle. Very inventive," Lewis told him, much to his confusion, "Although, it does have one drawback."
Shinso raised an eyebrow questioningly, not bothering to use his quirk since he knew Lewis just wouldn't respond to him.
"If you're talking to me and the rest of your teammates are hypnotised…who's keeping an eye on your surroundings?"
"What?" Shinso asked in confusion as he spun around to look at where he is.
He had ordered his team to follow Lewis' but didn't realise he had led them towards the other teams who were still playing. The looked to be all going after Team Todoroki for their points, so why would it matter where he was. However, Lewis knew Todoroki and knew exactly what she was going to do.
"Shoji, move now!" Lewis shouted as he saw Kaminari start to spark with electricity and Momo cover their team with a blanket.
"Indiscriminate shock!" Kaminari shouted, "1.3 MILLION VOLTS!"
At his declaration, Kaminari sent a wave of electricity at all the teams that were chasing them. Everybody's team, except for Todoroki's and Midoryia's thanks to Dark Shadow, was electrocuted and their screams of pain echoed through the arena. Shoji had run away from the shock zone while Shinso and his team was caught in the attack.
Once they were at a safe distance, they turned around and saw that Todoroki had followed up the attack by freezing their team's legs using her quirk.
Shinso had recovered from the shock, his team waking up from his control and looking around in confusion. He stared at Lewis with a plain look before smiling good naturally.
"Not bad," he admitted.
Todoroki glanced at Lewis' team and hummed in annoyance when she saw that they escaped the two attacks. She took the bandannas of the teams closest to her before perusing Midoriya. She looked up at the scoreboard and knew that his team could be a threat to hers'.
"That was a close one, ribbit," Asui said with a worried croak.
Shoji turned his mouth arm to Lewis, "You could have mentioned what you had planned earlier," he said crossly. He was thankful that the plan worked, but a little heads up would have been nice.
"Sorry," Lewis sheepishly apologised, "I didn't want Shinso to know," he explained, making Shoji nod in understanding.
Asui frowned in worry, "Are you alright, Fleetwood? Those were horrible things he said to you."
Lewis smiled reassuringly at her, "It's fine. I know he didn't really mean it. He was just trying to get me to speak. Anyway, we should probably-"
Lewis was about to suggest on collecting some of the bandannas from the trapped teams when suddenly a wall of ice was shot up in front of them. It blocked their path to the other teams and cornered them near the side of the pitch.
"W-where did this come from?" Shoji questioned in shock.
"We're trapped," Asui followed.
"Oh no!" Present Mic announced, "it looks like Team Todoroki had trapped Team Fleetwood!? Why would she do that!?"
"It's a good strategy," the tired voice of Aizawa said through the speakers, "she knew that Team Fleetwood is only in fifth place and so blocking them from getting any more points they won't be able to get through to the next event."
Asui tapped her finger to her chin in thought, "It's too high for me to jump over."
"And it's too exposed for me to use my quirk," Lewis followed.
"Then we need to break through it," Shoji said as he began using his giant fists to punch the ice.
Lewis and Asui joined him, chipping away the ice slowly, but surely. However, time wasn't on their side and soon Present Mic announced the end of the cavalry battle. Team Fleetwood sighed and Asui and Lewis climbed of Shoji's back.
Lewis glanced up at the scoreboard and saw that Todoroki was in first place. They were followed by Team Bakugo in second, Team Shinso in third and Team Midoriya in fourth. He looked at his team who bowed their heads in disappointment. Lewis felt sorry for them. He didn't want to compete, so not going through isn't a big issue for him, but it was clear that it was important to them. He laid a hand on each of their shoulders, making them look up at his comforting smile.
"Hey, we were great out there," Lewis told them, "It doesn't matter if we are in fifth place, first place or last place. You showed everybody what you can do, and I have no doubt that you impressed a lot of people."
Asui and Shoji let his words sink in before smiling.
"Thanks Fleetwood," Shoji said, "you were great as well."
Lewis chuckled, "Yeah, great at being pulled off your back by a vine," he joked, earning a few chuckles from the other two.
"At least I was there to save you, ribbit," Asui added.
From afar, Todoroki spotted Lewis' team talking and laughing, despite not going through the next event. She stared at Lewis' smiling face and remembered all the times he tried to be friends with her despite how she gave him the cold shoulder or froze his legs. The only real time he was angry at her was when she froze his glasses. She took out Lewis' damaged glasses from her pocket and inspected them. She didn't know why she kept them. It just felt like a wrong she needed to right.
She sighed and turned to Yaoyorozu who was still recovering from the cavalry battle.
"Can you do me favour?" she asked as she held up Lewis' glasses for her to see.
Cafeteria
Momo looked around the busy cafeteria, trying to find one person in particular. She hummed in mild irritation when she couldn't see Lewis neither in line for the till nor sitting at one of the tables.
"Yaomomo!" a voice called out, using the nickname the girls of 1A have given her.
She turned and saw Mina, Hagakure, Ochako, Asui and Jiro sitting at one of the tables. Mina waved to her to come over, making Momo approached them.
"Hello girls," Momo friendly greeted as still searched for Lewis among the students, "You wouldn't happen to have seen Fleetwood anywhere."
The girls giggled much to her confusion, "That's why we called you over," Hagakure said, "to watch the show."
"The show?" Momo repeated before Ochako pointed to the far side of the cafeteria.
Momo followed a finger and her eyes fell on a strange sight, but not unexpected, sight. Lewis seemed to be paralysed in fear as he held a tray of food in front of him. The reason for being so uncomfortable was the woman that was talking to him. She had long white hair, dark skin, red eyes and a muscular body. She had rabbit like features including long white ears that stood upwards and a small tuft tail. She wore a white leotard which exposed her powerful-looking legs and arms and purple stockings that reached above the knee.
Momo recognised her as one of the top 10 heroes in Japan, the Rabbit: Mirko. She was known for brazen and tough attitude and always speaking her mind no matter the consequences. Overall, when it comes to what makes Lewis socially awkward, she was the perfect storm.
"So, I saw your what you did there," Mirko said with a confident smirk, "you must have balls of steel to knock out all the robots, huh."
"Err..." Lewis stammered.
"And how you leaped over those landmines, that takes guts, kid," Mirko continued, "you got a death wish or somethin'?"
Lewis began to visibly shake, "No, I just-"
Mirko didn't let him finish. Instead she slapped his shoulder and laughed, making him wince and almost drop his lunch on the floor. The hero may have been much shorter than Lewis, but she was really strong.
"I'm just messin' with ya. You know I could use an intern like you. How do you feel about working under me. I don't have an agency -cause I hate working with others- but you get to work with one of the highest ranking heroes in the biz. What do you say?"
"Err...well I'm honoured, but I don't we can choose yet," Lewis shyly told her.
Mirko blew a raspberry and rolled her eyes, "That's lame. Come on kid, I'm offering you a chance here."
The girls watched on as Lewis tried to politely explain how he couldn't decided yet with sympathetic smiles.
"Are people other than students and faculty even supposed to be in here," Momo said with a raised eyebrow.
Her question was answered when Vlad King walked up to Mirko with a frustrated shake of his head and pulled her away from Lewis. Mirko complained loudly, but the teacher gave her a warning look as he escorted her out of the cafeteria. Momo waited for Lewis to catch his breath before she approached him.
"Fleetwood," she said, catching his attention his attention, "it looks like pro heroes are already scouting you out," she observed with a small smile.
Lewis rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, "Yeah, she was very...intense. I guess my social skills still needs improvement."
Momo giggled slightly before she took something out of her pocket, "Here, I hope they're as good as the old ones," she said as she gave him the object.
Lewis placed his lunch on a nearby table and inspected the object Momo gave him. They looked exactly like his pair of glasses, although brand new. The lenses were clean and the frame was considerably less scratched up and that was before they were destroyed.
"Yaoyorozu, thank you so much," Lewis told her in slight awe, "You really didn't have to that for me."
"It was actually Todoroki who asked me," Momo said much to Lewis surprise.
"What really?"
Momo nodded, "She didn't explain why but, from what I could tell, she looked sorry,"
Lewis raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"Well, I think so anyway. It's kind of hard to tell," she admitted, referencing their classmate's constant deadpan expression.
Lewis chuckled and inspected the glasses again. He thought back on what he said to Todoroki after the first event. She was right, he had no idea what she had been through. Does it excuse her from freezing his eyes. No. But does that justify him shouting at her. Well..yes, kind of, but he didn't want to. However, the new glasses prove that she has some kindness deep, deep...deep down. There was something wrong with her and that's why he must get through to Todoroki and let her that she is no longer alone.
With a newly found goal, he took off his goggles and placed them on the table. He put his new glasses on and vowed to help Todoroki the best he can...before he had to take them off again as his eyes stung in pain.
Lewis cringed in agony as he rubbed his eyes to get rid of the stinging.
"I'm so sorry, Fleetwood," Momo frantically apologised, "I didn't know what your prescription was, so I had to guess. I probably should have asked first," she said sheepishly.
"It's fine," Lewis told her as try to blink the headache away.
After eating his lunch, Lewis set out to find Todoroki or Midoriya for two different reasons. He needed to find Todoroki and apologise to her and Midoriya to ask about his hand disappearing. Lewis couldn't decide who to go looking for first, so he was just wondering around the hallways of the arena looking for either of them.
"Fleetwood," a voice behind him called out.
Lewis turned and saw Iida marching towards him with a plastic bag in his hands.
"Hi Iida," Lewis greeted as the class rep approached, "Well done in the cavalry battle."
Iida stiffly nodded before looking at his legs with a disappointed look.
"Thank you, Fleetwood. Although, I wish my quirk could have been more useful," he muttered sadly, "I'm sorry to hear that you didn't make it through to the next event. I wasn't aware that Todoroki was going to do that."
Lewis shrugged, "It's alright. Asui and Shoji were disappointed but they're over it."
"Speaking of Todoroki," Iida continued, "I was wondering if you know where she is?"
"I'm actually looking for her right now. Is there a problem?"
"Not at all. Yaoyorozu had told me to give this to her," he said as he raised the bag in his hand up little, "Would you mind taking over my responsibilities, I have some issues to sort out with our class."
Lewis smiled and took the bag from him, "Of course not," he said as he looked into the bag, "what is it anyw-"
He stopped short at the items of clothing in the bag. In consisted of a short orange vest with a white stripe going horizontally along it. In the stripe were the letters 'U' and 'A' in green. There was a short orange skirt and a pair of yellow pompoms.
Lewis stared at the contents of the bag before looking up at Iida questioningly.
"Is…this a…cheerleading uniform?" Lewis inquired in disbelief.
Iida didn't seem to find it strange at all and nodded with a smile.
"Indeed, Yaoyoruzu had just informed that the female students of Class 1A were performing a cheerleader routine as part of the festivities," Iida explained.
"…what?" Lewis asked with a sweat drop. Something doesn't seem right with that.
"I know it's quite unusual, but this was a direct order from Aizawa," Iida continued.
'Are we talking about the same Aizawa here?' Lewis thought in disbelief.
"Todoroki just needs to put on her uniform as well," Iida said as he began to turn away and march back down the hallway, "Thank you, Fleetwood."
Lewis watched his classmates walk around the corner with a stunned expression. Not quite believing what just happened.
"I have to give this…to Shoko Todoroki," Lewis gulped as he imagined how that scene would play out. A chibi Lewis showing a chibi Todoroki that cheerleading uniform, only for chibi Todoroki to encase him in a block of ice. The block of ice would fall over and chibi Lewis would shatter into a million pieces.
'Yeah…I'm not going to that,' Lewis thought with a deadpanned expression. Even though Lewis wanted to befriend her and everything, he is still slightly afraid of her.
'Although, the other girls would have to dress up as cheerleaders as well…in front of hundreds of people.'
He began to think about what they were going to do, and his anxieties started to settle in.
'Why would the school do this to them? I mean what happens if they're not taken seriously by hero agencies? What happens if they are seen as sex symbols and not as respectable heroes? It must be also embarrassing for them to be dressed like that in front of all those cameras and spectators. I bet they would be torn up by the media. There must be away I can distract the media's attention, so they won't focus on them. I could pay off the media…too expensive. I could pull a fire alarm…too illegal. I could sabotage a few cameras…too expensive and too illegal. Come on that has to be a way to distract everybody for a few momen-'
His eyes landed on the uniform in the bag. He didn't want to do it, but he had to do it.
That's what a hero does, right. Make sacrifices.
"I'm going have to really overuse my quirk for this," Lewis sighed.
The Arena
The break had finish for the students, and they made their way back on to the field. U.A had invited some American cheerleaders to give a routine for the crowds. The attention on those cheerleaders were only temporary, however, once the girls of Class 1A walked out of the tunnel wearing their uniforms.
They weren't at all pleased with what was going on. Jiro was possibly the most miserable one as she wasn't as bustier as the other girls.
However, once Momo noticed everybody's confusion at the sight of them and how Mineta and Karminari were giving each other a thumbs up, she knew instantly that they had been fooled.
"What! You tricked us!" Momo shouted angrily at the boys, "You're going to regret this!"
The perverted duo were unfazed by her threat and Momo sank to her knees in embarrassment.
"I even used my quirk to make these outfits," she complained in despair as Ochako patted her back comfortingly.
"What are you girls doing?" asked the plain voice of Todoroki as she approached them.
All the girls looked at her in confusion, "Hey, why aren't you wearing a uniform?" Mina questioned crossly.
"Why would I?" Todoroki asked back.
"But I asked Iida to give a uniform to you," Momo said as she looked towards her class rep.
Iida was just as confused as well, "And I gave it to Fleetwood to give to Todoroki," he said.
"Then where is the Fleetw-" Ochako began to ask before she saw something that she thought she never would see in a million years exit the tunnel.
"Hello everybody!" Lewis called out before he performed a perfectly executed series of forward flips and landed acrobatically on the field, "sorry I'm late!"
The students stared in stunned silence at Lewis wearing a women's cheerleading uniform. It was a bit too small for him with the skirt coming up to his mid-thigh and the vest barely covering his toned abs and chest. However, what really shocked class 1A more was the fact that he didn't look the slightest bit embarrassed. He was grinning and waving his pompoms about as if this were completely natural for him.
"Girls!" Lewis called out as he walked to his causing most of them to blush and try to not look at his athletic build "what do you think?" he asked with a wide grin.
"What do you mean what do we think!?" Jiro shouted in embarrassment, "what are you dressed like that?"
"Because now everybody will focus on me embarrassing myself and not you girls," Lewis enthusiastically answered.
"Yeah, but why?" Hagakure answered, not once taking her eyes off Lewis's muscles.
"Because no matter what you do now, you won't be as embarrassed as I am…or will be once I regained my brain back," Lewis finished with a grin.
"Err…Fleetwood, are you alright?" Midoriya asked as he approached him carefully.
"Midoriya!" Lewis shouted before grabbing a hold of his shoulders, "I've been looking for you everywhere!"
"Oh r-really," Midoriya stuttered, "did you overuse your quirk by any chance."
"Oh yeah," Lewis said with a small chuckle, "I was unbelievably nervous about doing this and so I decided to go to Oxford and back a few times to gain a boost of confidence. I mean it worked, but I'm definitely suffering from the Ghineas Page problem…wait is that his name? Ah well, it was a stupid name anyway. Let's say I'm quite mad. Mad as in insane not mad as in angry. Wait, what was I talking about?"
"You were saying how you went to Oxford and back," Midoriya told him.
"Oh right! Here!" Lewis flicked his hand to reveal a pencil and gave it to the green haired boy, "I got you a souvenir from the Ashmolean Museum. Have you been? It's brilliant, they have a lot of…old…things. Although, it was dark when I visited for some reason."
"Isn't it like five in the morning over there?" Midoriya asked in concern.
Lewis nodded thoughtfully, "That does explain the alarms," he mused, causing Midoriya to sweat drop, "hey, you know what I always wondered. If you were quirkless why is your hair green. I mean that's not a normal colour, right?"
Midoriya stiffened in fear when he mentioned that he was quirkless and looked around to see if anybody heard it.
"Damn, Fleetwood must be really out of his mind," Sero said to Kirishima, "I mean why would he think Midoriya doesn't have a quirk."
Midoriya sighed in relief, 'That was close.'
"Anyway, I want to talk to you about something, but now I feel like I have to join in on American cheerleaders' routine. So, bye," he said before running off to join the other cheerleaders.
"Wait what!?" Midoryia cried as he saw his friend jump onto the cheerleaders' platform, "Fleetwood, come back!" he shouted in vain.
Strangely enough, the Americans accepted Lewis onto the squad and he began to perform alongside with them, much to Class 1A's surprise. Even more strange, was that the audience seemed to love cheerleader Lewis and cheered encouragingly for him.
'They think it's part of the act,' Midoriya thought in disbelief.
The 1A girls were trying to process what just happened as Lewis performed a backflip into the air. But they soon smiled when they realised his sacrifice for them.
"It's actually quite sweet," Ochako said with a bright smile, feeling a newfound respect for him.
"Yeah, but let's not mention that this was all a prank to him," Jiro told everybody.
The other girls nodded in agreement and continued to watch the performance.
"So, are we not going to mention how that uniform looks better on him than on us," Mina said with a small giggle.
"It's the legs. He's got good legs," Asui said, making all the girls nod in agreement once more.
Nearby, Mineta and Karminari were on the knees with tears streaming down their eyes.
"Damn you!" Mineta cried as he pounded the ground, "Why must you sully something as precious as a cheerleader uniform!"
"I know!" Karminari agreed, "now I'll never look at a cheerleader again without seeing him in it!"
Monoma, who was close to them, rolled his eyes.
"Really? Is Class 1A so perverted," he sighed, "you won't see my classmates acting like th-" he stopped when he saw the female members of his class.
Despite all of them having bright red faces they all had different reactions to Lewis in such little clothing. Shiozaki was praying rapidly, Kinoko had fainted and was being helped by Kendo and Reiko, Tokage looked stunned while a small bit of drole was coming out of her mouth, Tsunotori clapped and cheered for Lewis and finally Kodai was taking pictures of Lewis on her phone.
Momoma looked at them in concern.
Once the show had finished, the students gathered around in front of Midnight's podium again, waiting for Present Mic to explain the next tournament.
Lewis was feeling more relaxed then has throughout the whole day, despite the fact that he regained some of his sanity since the impromptu performance. It might be because he didn't have to compete anymore (or the fact that a huge chunk of his brain is gone) since he knew what was coming up. The U.A Sports Festival always ended in a battle tournament which was Lewis least favourite part.
"Alright listeners," the booming voice of Present Mic through the speakers, "now that the recreational games are over, we can move on to the third and final event of the day," the screen behind Midnight lit up to show a tree diagram showing the battle tournament and the competitors, "the sixteen competitors from the four teams that made it to the final round will duke it out tournament style, one on one!"
Lewis looked around at all the competitors.
From Team Todoroki there were Shoko Todoroki, Momo Yaoyorozu, Tenya Iida and Denki Karminari.
From Team Bakugo there were Katsuki Bakugo, Mina Ashido, Eijiro Kirishima, and Hanta Sero.
From Team Shinso there were Hitoshi Shinso, Mashirao Ojiro, Yugi Aoyama and Nirengeki Shoda, the short grey haired boy from Class 1B.
From Team Midoriya there were Izuku Midoriya, Ochako Uraraka, Fumikage Tokoyami and Mei Hatsume.
Lewis frowned when he saw that only one person from Class 1B had gone into the final event, but there was nothing he could do. At least the Support Department and General Studies have some representation.
"Come up here and draw lots," Midnight said as she held up a box, "the two participants who draw the same number will be opponents for the match."
Midnight made her way down but stopped short as Ojiro raised his hand straight in the air.
"Um…excuse me," he said as everybody turned to him. Lewis saw his face riddled with guilt and sadness; something must have really rattled him, "I would like to withdraw," Ojiro declared much to everyone's shock.
"Ojiro, no way," Midoriya gasped.
"But this is a rare chance for you to be scouted," Iida added just as surprised.
Ojiro lowered his hand and formed into a tight fist, "It just wouldn't be right. I barely remember anything from the cavalry battle until the very end of it. I think it was that guy's quirk."
Lewis glanced at Shinso who turned away with a plain look.
"I know this is a great opportunity," Ojiro continued, "I wish I could take advantage of it, but my conscious won't let me."
"Just think about this," Midoriya tried to convince, but Ojiro wasn't having any of it.
"I have all right," Ojiro crossly said, "everyone gave the all in round two, but I was just someone's puppet. No way, I don't want to advance if I don't even know how I got here. It wouldn't be fair."
"Your making way too much of this," Hagakure complained as she waved her pompoms in her invisible hands, "just kill it in the finals and make up for it."
Mina nodded her head in agreement, "Yeah, what she said, I didn't do much in the last round."
Lewis noticed how distressed Ojiro was getting and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"It's fine, Ojiro. If you don't want to go the next round, then you don't have to compete. We wouldn't to force you to do anything you don't want to. Is that right Miss Midnight?" Lewis said turning to the teacher with a pleading look. Midnight frowned in thought, mulling over what Ojiro said.
"Thanks Fleetwood," Ojiro said with a small smile, "But I would take you more seriously if you weren't wearing a cheerleader uniform," he said awkwardly.
"Do you want my support or not!" Lewis cried angrily as he waved a pompom at him.
Ojiro waved his hands in front of him and smiled sheepishly, "Err…sorry."
"Nirengeki Shoda from Class B," the short boy from Team Shinso called out to Midnight as he pushed his way through the crowd, "I would like to dropout for the same reason. Regardless of how strong I am, this isn't how I wanted to get here. It would go against the values of the festival to advance without earning my spot," he said.
Lewis frowned sadly since he was the only 1B student in the tournament, but if I he didn't want to compete then he shouldn't.
"Mes amies," Aoyama dramatically called out, "I too shall decline to go any further."
'Wow, I didn't know Aoyama cared about his pride in battle,' Lewis thought in surprise.
"What is the purpose of continuing if I didn't dazzle the audience throughout the entire tournament," Aoyama continued fancily.
'Oh, that's why,' Lewis thought with a sweat drop.
The candidates turned to Midnight waiting for her final judgement. The teacher pondered for a few moments before she made up her mind.
"This sort of talk is incredibly naïve," Midnight declared as she cracker her whip, "that turns me on. Shoda, Ojiro and Aoyama are withdrawn!"
'Did she say it turns her on?' Everybody thought in bewilderment.
"Now let's see," Midnight pondered, "we'll have to move up three students from the fifth place cavalry team, so we have enough contestants."
'That's good,' Lewis thought happily, 'that would mean students who didn't make the cut have the opportuni- WAIT, THAT'S MY TEAM!' Lewis screamed in his mind.
"Team Fleetwood, you are onto the next round," Midnight declared much to Lewis' misery.
'But I don't want to fight other students,' Lewis complained internally.
He heard mutterings from the students around him. They were mostly from Class 1B, saying how it was unfair that only 1A students had got through which made Lewis even more miserable.
Asui and Shoji saw how miserable Lewis was looking and came to a silent agreement.
"Miss Midnight," Asui croaked, "Shoji and I would like to pass on our position in the battle tournament and would give Fleetwood the responsibility to choose who will our places" she said much to Lewis' surprise.
"Wait why?" Lewis asked his fellow classmates.
Shoji raised his arm mouth to him, "We know how much you want everybody here to have an equal opportunity to shine. That's why we're giving you the responsibility to choose who would go to next event."
"But why can't I drop out and one of you go through. You two actually want to compete in this," Lewis said.
"It's not about who wants to, ribbit, it's about who deserves it," Asui told him, "Who was the one that came up with game plan?"
"Well…I mean you two came up with it as much as I did," Lewis argued.
"Who was the one that got our points back from Team Monoma?"
"That was more of an accident then an actual strategy."
"And who was the that led Team Shinso into the trap and save us from being under his quirk?"
"…I supposed that was me," Lewis admitted with a sigh.
He looked up at his teammates and saw their determined faces.
"Alright fine," Lewis sighed, "but I'm not going to enjoy it," he muttered to himself.
"Fleetwood, who do you want to go through to next round," Midnight asked with a raised eyebrow.
Lewis had already had his answer and turned to towards the two who deserve it the most. Shiozaki and Tetsutetsu.
"I chose Ibara Shiozaki and…I'm sorry I never caught your name," Lewis awkwardly said the silver haired boy.
"The name's Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, man," the boy replied.
"…I beg your pardon?" Lewis said, thinking he misheard him.
"Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu," he repeated.
Lewis blinked in confusion, 'His parents named him 'Steel Steel Steel Steel,' he thought in disbelief, "Great name," Lewis told him awkwardly before turning back to Midnight, "I would like for them to on to the next round. I think they deserve it and I hope they make Class 1B proud."
Shiosaki and Tetsutetsu were surprised for a moment before they smiled gratefully.
"Thanks man!" Tetsutetsu shouted with tears in his eyes, "I feel bad for trying to take you out, please forgive me!" he declared as he bowed rigidly at Lewis.
Lewis smiled sheepishly and waved his hand in front of him, "It's fine honestly," he brushed off.
Tetsutetsu stood up and wiped a tear from his eye, "You're a real man, dude!" he shouted at Lewis happily before giving him a good natured slap on the shoulder.
"The second time today," Lewis murmured as he rubbed his aching shoulder.
Shiozaki walked up to him with a kind smile and bowed as well, "Thank you for giving me this opportunity as well, Fleetwood."
"Shiozaki, you honestly deserve to get through. I'm sure you be excellent," he told her with dazzling smile.
The vine-haired girl blushed terribly at his smile only to made worse by how exposed he was. She turned around instantly and clutched her heart.
"Angel of lust," she whispered to herself, causing Lewis to look at her oddly.
He noticed Kendo and the rest of the Class 1B girls and gave them an apologetic smile.
"Sorry, I would of chose someone from your team but-"
"It's okay Fleetwood, " Kendo said, "you're right they did deserve it.
Reiko nodded in agreement before a blush appeared on her pale cheeks, "Can you please put some clothes on now."
Tokage was going to use this as an opportunity to tease Lewis, but Kodai interrupted her.
"No," the quiet girl flatly denied before she took another photo of Lewis on her phone. She looked at the photo she took and nodded with a small blush.
'That's like the hundredth photo,' Kendo, Reiko and Tokage collectively thought as they gave their classmate odd looks.
With the participants decided, they all took lots from the box Midnight had provided. Lewis look down at his ticket and looked for his competitor. His questioned was answered by a giggle behind him.
"Looks like we're going to fight, Neko chan," Mina said with a large grin.
Lewis chuckled sadly, "Err...yeah," he muttered.
Mina noticed his uneasiness and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, it's just one more event and this whole thing is done. Just try your best, alright," she told him calmly.
Lewis looked into her yellow irises and saw how sincere she was. He smiled and nodded at her.
"Thanks Mina," he quietly told her.
Mina giggled once more before looking at his chest with a purple blush.
"I can't believe you've been hiding all of this from me," she said with a wide grin, "I think you need to redesign your costume. You'll definitely be popular."
"The last think I need is more attention, Mina," Lewis replied as he covered his chest with his arms, earning a disappointed moan from Mina.
Lewis looked up the screen that displayed who will be fighting who. The battles were:
Midoryia vs Shinso
Todoroki vs Sero
Karminari vs Shiozaki
Iida vs Hatsume
Fleetwood vs Ashido
Yaoyorozu vs Tokoyami
Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu
Ocahako vs Bakugo
Three of those fights worried Lewis the most. The first was Ochako vs Bakugo. It wasn't as if he didn't think Ochako wouldn't stand a chance against Bakugo. But he was afraid that if she lost she would take it hard, after all she was fighting for a noble purpose.
The second was Iida vs Hatsume. He knew the inventor well enough that she was going to something unorthodox and worried for Iida's health.
The third and final fight was Midoriya vs Shinso. He glanced over to where Midoriya was being dragged away by Ojiro. Lewis had no doubts that he was warning him about the purple haired boy.
Lewis saw the familiar the red and white hair of Todoroki pass by and remembered that he needed to talk to her. He told Mina that he needed to do something and rushed over to where the stoic girl was entering the exit tunnel.
"Todoroki," Lewis called out, making the girl turn sharply towards him.
"What?" She plainly demanded.
Lewis smiled kindly and pointed to his fixed glasses, "Thank you for getting these fixed. My uncle would kill me if I broke another pair," he joked.
Todoroki glared at Lewis angrily, "I didn't do it for you thanks. I did it to repay a debt. We have no need to talk to each other," she turned sharply around, but Lewis appeared in front of her.
"Wait. I'm really sorry for shouting at you. I really should-"
Todoroki grabbed the front of his collar and slammed his back into the wall of the exit tunnel.
"You listen here," Todoroki growled, "I don't care if you're sorry or not. You have been an annoying pest from the beginning, trying to outdo me and pretending you care about me. I don't know what you want from, but stop trying. I hate you and if you talk to me again I will trap you in an iceberg."
"Todoroki please..." Lewis tried to persuade, but Todoroki slammed him into the wall once again.
"You best wish you not against me in the tournament. I will show you no mercy," she spat before releasing his collar and walking down the tunnel, "and change out of that uniform. You look ridiculous."
Lewis, with his back still pressed on the wall, watched Todoroki leave sadly.
"That went as well as I thought," he said to himself miserably.
Class 1A Seating Area
The students, both competing and not competing, had gathered in their boxed of seating area in the stands with the girls back in their P.E kits. Since Midoriya was going to fight first, Lewis decided to tell him what happened to his hand after the match.
Hagakure noticed where Lewis was and nudged Jiro to make her look as well. Jiro followed Hagakure's sleeve saw where Lewis was hiding and rolled her eyes.
"Lewis, come out from under there. You're going to miss the match," Jiro told him.
"No thank you," the voice of Lewis replied from under the blue seats, "I think I'm just going to die under these seats."
After listening to a couple of slow songs to restore his sanity completely, Lewis remembered all the humiliating things he did earlier, got changed and promptly hid himself from view in shame. He was not planning on coming out from under there for a very very long time.
"Don't be so dramatic," Hagakure said, finding the situation humorous, "it wasn't that bad."
"I can't believe you got those cheerleaders' phone numbers," Karminari muttered bitterly.
"Pretty boy privilege. If I did that they would call me a pervert," Mineta added just as bitterly.
"They call you a pervert, because you act like one," Mina criticised from her seat.
Kirishima stood up and went towards the seat where Lewis was hiding under, "Come on man. It isn't manly to hide from your problems," he encouraged, "I bet nobody even noticed."
"Hey guys," Sero called out, looking from his phone, "Cheer-wood is trending online," he informed everybody with a wide grin.
His smile instantly dropped as he heard a groan of despair from Lewis and the rest of Class 1A glaring at Sero.
"Oh sorry, Fleetwood," Sero apologised to where he was hiding.
"It's fine," Lewis moaned back.
"Oh ho," a new voice entered the conversation.
Everybody turned to wall that divided their seating area with Class 1B's and saw Monoma poke his head over it.
"What's wrong Fleetwood, can't stand the limelight," he mocked with a crazed look in his eyes, "well, maybe you should of thought that before you paraded in fr-"
Thwack!
Monoma stiffed in pain and slid down the wall and out of sight. His attacker poked her head over the wall with an awkward smile.
"Sorry Fleetwood, I make sure he won't pester you again," Kendo kindly said.
"Thanks Kendo," Lewis called out from under the seats as the orange haired girl moved out of sight.
Mina looked over to where Lewis was hiding and took a deep breath.
'You can do this,' she encouraged herself before she walked over to Fleetwood.
"Hey Neko chan, since we battling against each other, why don't we make it more interesting," she suggested with a wide grin.
"How do you mean?" Lewis replied in slightly confusion.
Mina's mile grew wider, "Well, if I win you have to make me on a date," she proposed.
Lewis was so surprise by her declaration that he jumped and banged his head on the seats. The rest of Class 1A turned to her in shock.
"What!?" Momo, Jiro, and Mineta shouted at her.
Mina seemed unaffected by the shocked cries, but once Lewis crawled out, rubbing his aching head, her smile wavered slightly in nervousness.
"W-what really?" Lewis stammered at her, "But I never been on a date before."
"Aww then I'll be first," Mina said before realising how that sounded, "date, I meant. Your first first date," she said with a small blush.
"But what would happen if he wins?" Jiro hastily pointed out.
"Then I takes him on a date," Mina responded confidently.
"That's not fair," Sero said, "it has be something you don't want to do."
Mina frowned angrily at him, "Why would you think he wouldn't want to go on a date with me?" she crossly asked.
Lewis, who was now on his feet, raised his hand to speak, "For the record, I would like to go on a date with Mina," he sheepishly said.
"See," Mina declared, her purple blush growing larger.
"Your forcing him to go on a date. That's different," Hagakure retorted.
Mina sighed in defeat, "Fine, what would you suggest?"
"Your English could use some improvement," Momo pointed out, "Lewis could tutor you."
Mina laughed, "Like Neko chan would want to tutor me."
"I would actually love to," Lewis excited said, causing Mina's eyes to widen in horror, "I can set up a lesson plan and recommend some books you can read because, no offence to Present Mic, but learning Shakespeare is not a good way of learning English. Oh I can make a cake. It sounds like fun."
Mina looked at Lewis' excited smile and sighed reluctantly, "Fine, if I lose, you have to tutor me."
"Deal," Lewis said as he outstretched uprising arm for Mina to shake.
Mina took his hand and shook it confidently, fuelled with determination to win.
Lewis pulled away as his phone rang in his pocket. He took out his phone and grimaced at the caller ID. Deciding to get it over with, Lewis pressed the accept call button.
"Hello?" Lewis said.
"..." silence on the other end.
"Hello?"
"..."
"Is this about the Ashmol-"
"It's everything to with the Ashmoleon," Xaphan growled from the receiving end, "You have a lot of explaining to do."
"How did you know it was me?" Lewis asked in curiosity.
"You left behind a note saying how much you loved the museum and how you were taking a pencil as a souvenir for a friend."
"Oh...right..." Lewis uttered, remembering that little detail.
A big shout out to the Ashmoleon Museum in Oxford. One of my favourite history museums and completely free admission.
I have no idea how you guys feel about Lewis wearing a cheerleader uniform, but I took a chance and I thought it was funny. Plus, I genuinely feel that the 1A girls deserve better and so I made Lewis take that sacrifice. Sorry if you thought it was weird.
Out of all of my OCs, I think I have been the most cruel to Lewis, but there is a reason for it. Charles (from TGPT), Edgar, (from TPAOEC), and Night Terror (from FTNT) are all confident in their actions, something that Lewis lacks in. Being cruel to him builds up his character, makes him strong and means he wouldn't have to rely on his quirk for a confidence boost. It's basically tough love. I can relate to Lewis a lot and I wish I could withstand what he had experienced. I just wanted to let you guys know in case you think I was just being horrible to Lewis for no reason.
What happened to Lewis' hand will be discussed, but I honestly couldn't find a time where Lewis and Midoryia, so i thought they could discuss it next chapter.
Also Miruko made an appearance briefly. I know she likes to work alone, but I thought it would be funny for her to meet Lewis and get him to work under her since they are polar opposites.
Anyway hope you enjoyed the chapter and I'll see you next time :)
