She will always have everything
Clarke Griffin had never experienced what might be called "tenderness" in her young life.
As soon as her father had died when she had been young, her mother, Abby, Abby's boyfriend, Kane, and their several adopted children; Bellamy Blake, Raven Reyes, Octavia Blake, Jasper Jordan, John Murphy, Miles Shaw, Nathan Miller, John Mbege; they all had treated her as if she were the scum of the earth.
It didn't matter if she was having a hard day and was crying and needed comfort, it was always the same.
The same disgusted question, the same smirks.
The same words; "why can't you grow up?" "no one cares about you, Clarke." "just die, Clarke." "why do you even exist, Clarke?" "Too bad it was your daddy and not you that died, Clarke."
Then there was that time that Bellamy had looked like he had wanted to hit her so hard she might lose teeth.
When she had…
When she had said that…..thing, and had accidentally sent her siblings off the a world full of demons, to be held captive by the demon queens of the kingdom known as "Claw's-Perch," she had regretted it for only two reasons.
Number one, because the only few of those teenagers that actually treated her well; Wells Jaha, Finn Collins, Harper, Sterling and Zoe Monroe, had all been locked away, too.
And number two, because Clarke didn't want to get into trouble with Abby, her birth mother, who Clarke hoped would love her the way a mother was supposed to love her.
Clarke had ended up meeting the queens of the kingdom she was trying to traverse.
Such odd women. Demonic and demigod women.
And women with an even odder fixation on her.
Clarke found that while some part of her was in fact, afraid of them, she found that it scared her that she wasn't as afraid of them as she should be.
If anything, she felt herself drawn to them for a reason she couldn't understand.
When she got through the labyrinth, meeting various strange people who she had come to see as her friends; Tony, Steve, Bucky, Bruce, Clint and Laura Barton, Barney and Simone Barton, Sigrid Nansen, the three general women; Razeeta, Jorsua and Dasha, Lincoln, Echo, Lexa and her lover, Costia; she at last had confronted the queens.
She was grateful for all the help of the people she had met, and hoped later on, that they were all alright.
It had occurred to her, that given that the women she had encountered, were the queens of the land that she had traversed, that the people she had met and had become friends with, might be in danger, for helping her.
But they hadn't seemed afraid, and when Clarke had confronted the queens and asked them not to condemn her friends, the queens had seemed completely uninterested in the people that she had encountered.
They only had seemed interested in her.
At last, they had made a plea with her, that struck her as very weird. They had asked that she stay in the demon world. That she let the Bartons adopt her and look after her for a few years. And when she was an adult, they asked that she marry all of them.
That plea shocked her.
Why? What was the gain of asking her something like that? Clarke even back then, had tried to figure out what the ulterior motive was.
But she couldn't figure it out.
It had to have been a trick. That was what she had rationalized.
But even after she had said the words that did it; "you have no power over me," and the spell was broken and everything went back to the way it had been before she had wished her siblings be taken away, including her siblings' memories wiped and they had no memory of the events that had happened, she still didn't understand, as she was returned to her miserable human home.
She wasn't even able to pay much attention to the people at the house who harassed her or to her mother, Abby, who after she returned with her boyfriend, Marcus Kane, had scoffed at Clarke's willingness to look after everything, even though Abby had pressured Clarke into doing it in the first place, and had said, "Of course you did what I said. You're so boring. Not good for much else, are you?"
Clarke had still been left with the question for years; just what had the queens' end goal been?
All that time, every encounter that Clarke had had with the queens, had involved them looking at her softly, speaking to her softly, assuring her that they wanted to make her happy, even if they snickered the whole time, hoping to trick her in some way, into staying with them.
Something about the way they had handled her…it had been gentle, despite their plotting and danger.
But why?
Clarke still didn't know, after six years.
And some part of her still feared the answer, even if some part of her yearned to know.
Because it had been so long since anyone besides Wells, Finn, Harper, Sterling or Zoe, had treated her with anything resembling softness.
She was off at college now, ignoring her "siblings" and Abby and Kane trying to get her to do what they wanted, as she came into money that her biological father, Jake Griffin, had set aside for her, and that she had saved up over the years, and had now made actual real friends, and she loved them.
It was helpful to know that there were actually good and open-minded people out there, not just assholes like Bellamy, Octavia, Raven, Murphy, Abby and the others.
And in time, she was able to put the queens of Claw's-Perch out of her mind. At least, for a while.
Sometimes, she would go back to thinking about them, not least of all when she was dreaming, dreaming of them looking at her lovingly and softly, and not least of all, when she was masturbating.
Yeah, she often felt embarrassed about that.
There were times even, when she had thought that maybe she had dreamed the whole thing up. That it had never actually happened.
But deep down, she knew it had.
In the kingdom of Claw's-Perch?
The queens waited and watched.
Anya, Natasha, Yelena, Melina, Niylah, Ontari, Luna, Maria, Helena, Dinah, Mari, Beatriz, Tora-they watched as Clarke lived her life, free of her abusers.
Their young mate, Clarke Griffin, who had been stolen from this world, years and years ago, was spending time with her friends in college, laughing with them and talking as they hung out in one of the school's lounges, and they planned for their next move.
It wouldn't be long before that idiot boy, Jasper Jordan, made the wish they were going to manipulate him into making, and when he did, they would kill him and kill the others and take Clarke as theirs.
She had known almost no softness and lovingness over the years. But that would change, soon enough.
Even six years ago, back when Clarke had thought of them as enemies, they had always spoken to her softly. Tenderly and sweetly. They knew that she still didn't understand why.
She was smart, and most likely had come up with a few theories, but she likely had denounced those theories as either absurd or inaccurate or both.
But that did not matter.
They would make sure that she would always have everything.
All the love, gentleness and pleasure in the world, in all the worlds.
After they slaughtered everyone who had ever mistreated Clarke, they would take her and keep her with them in their world, give her a family, love her.
She would always be treated with gentleness and love.
Love that she should have been given from the beginning by Abby, the woman who actually had the audacity to call herself Clarke's mother, but hadn't been given.
Well, that would all change soon.
They had seen how surprised Clarke had been whenever they had spoken to her gently, years ago, and how surprised she had been whenever they praised her.
A clear indication of Clarke almost never being praised, maybe even never.
But that would change very soon. Clarke would just need to get used to being praised and spoken to lovingly.
Author's note
Okay, so, I made one last short story, before I did the long story. Oh, well.
