This story will start out with Kylo being 5, the triplets are 1 and a half. Cameron is 6, Luna is 7.
Kylo is a half Ultima wolf. He is not a full one like is dad therefore he can't turn anyone. He is strong and has some unique abilities most of which he shares with Luna.
One morning, Kylo woke up to a loud crash in the kitchen. His wolf senses were on high alert as he hurriedly went to check what had happened. His heart pounded as he imagined all sorts of scenarios, but he was greeted by his mom's gentle voice, "Sorry honey, I dropped the pan." Relieved, Kylo sighed deeply, but he soon realized that the commotion had also woken up his dad and his younger brother and sisters. Even though the triplets, Kato, Selene, and Taliyah, were only 1 and a half years old, they had come rushing to the kitchen with surprising speed and curiosity.
"You okay, hon?" Dad asked her, his voice filled with concern.
"I'm not sure. I feel off today," she replied, a hint of sadness in her tone. "I'm sorry I ruined breakfast."
Dad walked over and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it. We'll manage. How about you sit down and rest for a bit? I'll take care of breakfast."
Kylo watched as his mom smiled weakly and nodded, appreciating the comfort and support from Dad. Meanwhile, the triplets were starting to cause a bit of chaos, pulling at each other's clothes and trying to climb onto the counter.
"Selene, stop!" Kylo said as one of the triplets tried to climb up his leg. Something about all of them being wolves made them more energetic. He managed to get her off as he headed upstairs to get ready for school. He knew his dad had his mom had the triplets covered.
As Kylo was getting ready, he heard a voice in his head and it made him smile. One thing he loved about being a wolf and having his guardian was that he could talk to Luna in his head whenever he wanted.
"Hi Kylo, you coming to school?" she asked.
"Yup, I am. See you soon," he replied. Even though it was not spoken out loud, he knew she received the message.
Kylo ran downstairs and looked at his dad, who was busy trying to change the triplets. Kato was attempting to run away while Selene was crying. Taliyah, well, she had already run off, leaving their dad in a bit of a predicament.
"I'm going to school," Kylo said as he ran out the door, hoping his dad could figure it out. He hoped that he didn't run into any trouble along the way. Typically, Chase, his dad, would walk with him, but today he was too busy. Being a half Ultima wolf, Kylo had a lot of enemies and many people wanting to hurt him or his dad, who was the full Ultima wolf. He was beginning to get used to it.
Kylo made it to school in one piece, thank goodness, as he was greeted by one of his best friends, Cameron. He looked around for Luna, and Cameron laughed. "Man, you two are something else. She's not here yet," he said with a grin.
Kylo chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "I guess I'm just used to seeing her first thing in the morning."
"Yeah, I get it," Cameron replied, slinging an arm around Kylo's shoulders. As they walked down the hallway, Cameron couldn't help but ask, "Kylo, do you think you and Luna are meant to be? Like, will you date when you are older?"
Kylo laughed softly and shook his head. "I am only 5, so I have no idea. Right now, she is my best friend and my guardian, whatever that means. I have no clue, Cam, but my life is complicated, I guess."
Cameron nodded understandingly. "Yeah, I get that. It must be tough being a half Ultima wolf and dealing with all that comes with it."
Kylo sighed, grateful for Cameron's support. "It is, but at least I've got friends like you and Luna to help me through it."
As Cameron reached his classroom and walked inside, Kylo couldn't help but feel a pang of frustration. The only thing he hated was that he was younger than both of his friends. He kept walking down the hall to the kindergarten classroom, which he felt he was too smart for. It was a constant reminder of the complexities in his life, his advanced abilities clashing with the age-appropriate expectations placed upon him.
As Kylo was settling into his classroom, Luna's voice popped into his head. "I am sorry, I will see you at lunch," she said. She sounded sad, so of course Kylo's instincts kicked in. He wondered what might have happened and hoped everything was alright.
"You okay?" he asked.
"I'm good, Mom had an emergency at the clinic and Dad needed to drive me. He was dealing with foggy bottom stuff," she replied back.
Kylo was relieved he didn't know what it was about Luna but he enjoyed being around her, he looked for her and sought her out in crowds. He didn't really understand the whole her being his guardian thing but he knew that she would always be there for him.
Even though the group was still young, they had to deal with a lot, Kylo especially. A lot of the older kids were mean to him. They didn't like how a younger kid was stronger, but the only reason he was stronger was because of his wolf status. Kylo never wanted to hurt anyone or be mean, but he dealt with a lot, especially on school days. Even his teachers treated him differently. He felt the weight of their expectations and the burden of his abilities, yet he always tried to remain kind and understanding despite the challenges. His friends Luna and Cameron stood by him, offering their unwavering support and friendship, making the tough days a bit more bearable.
Lunch finally came and Kylo had to deal with his first problem. As Kylo left his classroom to meet with his friends for lunch, he found himself face-to-face with one of his bullies. The tall boy, who seemed to relish tormenting Kylo, blocked his path.
"Hey, wolf boy," the bully sneered, "why don't you show us some of your tricks?"
Kylo felt his heart sink. He had hoped to avoid any confrontations today. He took a deep breath, trying to remain calm and composed. He knew he couldn't let his anger take over.
The tall boy laughed mockingly. "Oh, come on. We're just having some fun. What's the matter, wolf boy? Scared?"
"I'm not scared," he replied quietly. "I just don't want to hurt anyone."
The bully scoffed and rolled his eyes, clearly unimpressed by Kylo's restraint. Just then, Luna and Cameron, sensing Kylo's discomfort, arrived in time to intervene.
Luna shot a protective glance at the group. "Leave him alone," she said firmly.
Cameron chimed in, "Yeah, he's not here to entertain you."
Despite the older kids' taunts, Kylo felt a wave of relief wash over him as Luna and Cameron stood by his side. The bullies finally walked away, muttering under their breath.
"Thanks, guys," Kylo said, his voice filled with gratitude.
"Anytime," Luna replied, smiling reassuringly.
Cameron nodded. "We're always here for you, Kylo."
As they continued their lunch, Kylo felt a renewed sense of strength. Even though he faced many challenges, he knew he could count on his friends to help him through. And that made all the difference.
"I hate being called wolf boy, I have a name!" Kylo exclaimed as they all sat down to eat lunch. Luna and Cameron exchanged a quick glance, understanding his frustration.
"I think it's cute!" Luna chimed in, trying to brighten his mood. "It shows that you're unique, and they just don't understand how special that is."
Kylo managed a small smile, appreciating her attempt to cheer him up. "Maybe you're right," he said softly. "But it still gets under my skin sometimes."
"Yeah, who even is that kid? Like, why does he pick on you?" Cameron asked.
Kylo shrugged, his expression thoughtful. "I'm not sure. He's been a bully since the first day I got here. Maybe he just feels threatened by me, or maybe he's just mean."
Luna placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Some people just don't know how to handle someone different. But remember, it's their problem, not yours."
Kylo nodded, taking her words to heart. "Thanks, Luna. I guess I just have to keep ignoring him."
"That's the spirit," Cameron said, clinking his juice box against Kylo's. "And if he ever gets too annoying, you know we've got your back. On a happy note, Marshall and Everest's baby is due soon," Cameron said.
"Yeah, I am going to have a cousin. I am excited but I hope it's a boy. Girls are a pain," Kylo said.
"Hey!" Luna replied.
"I meant my sisters, Luna. You I like!" Kylo said, giving her a smile.
Luna chuckled, her previous irritation fading away. "Well, in that case, I'll let it slide. But remember, girls can be pretty awesome too."
"Kylo, didn't you bite your aunt? Is she still human?" Cameron asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
Kylo nodded, remembering the incident. "Yeah, I did, and she is still human. I can't change anyone; only my dad can. I think as I get older, my bite will have more of an impact, but I am not sure how it all works," he said thoughtfully.
"I say bite your enemies!" Cameron said, laughing.
"Don't encourage him to do that! Don't listen to him, Kylo," Luna said.
Kylo just sat there, knowing he would listen to Luna in the end. He felt a weird connection to her. It was like he would do everything she said, he didn't understand it completely, but he was going to ask his dad later.
The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch. Kylo sighed, reluctantly gathering his things. The group shared a knowing lookâlunch always felt too short, but the bond they shared made it worthwhile.
As Kylo headed back to class, he couldn't shake the feeling that the day had more twists in store for him. He just hoped he didn't run into any more problems today.
As he walked through the bustling hallway, Kylo reflected on the strange bond he felt with Luna. It was uncanny how her words had a calming and guiding effect on him. He wondered if this connection was part of something larger, a destiny he was yet to comprehend.
Kylo tried to focus on the teacher but he couldn't help but wonder if he should be looking for friends his own age. Cameron and Luna were both older, and well maybe he needed to at least try with the kids in his class. The thing is they all avoided him, and he had a feeling it was because they were afraid. Most of the parents still had issues with wolves being in the town. My dad was the first and well he changed my mom and had me, I am sort of like my dad but not as strong and maybe that scares people.
"Hi, um, can you pass me the crayons, please?" a girl beside him asked, her voice breaking through his thoughts.
Kylo turned to see a girl with a shy smile, holding out her hand. He hesitated for a moment, then smiled back and handed her the box of crayons.
"Thanks," she said, her smile broadening. "I'm Anna, by the way."
"Hi, Anna. I'm Kylo," he replied, feeling a bit more at ease.
Anna seemed different from the other kids in his class. She didn't show any sign of fear or hesitation around him. Maybe this could be the start of a new friendship, one that would help him feel less out of place.
As Kylo handed Anna the crayons, she leaned in slightly and whispered, "You're the wolf, right?" Her eyes held a mixture of curiosity and awe.
Kylo's heart skipped a beat. He wasn't used to someone addressing him so directly about his heritage. "Yeah," he said quietly, nodding. "I am."
"Cool, well thanks," she said. Kylo was hoping for something more, but she moved away after that. He knew he at least had Cameron and Luna. Despite their age difference, they were the ones who understood him the best, the ones who made him feel like he belonged.
As the school day wore on, Kylo found himself thinking about Anna's words and the way she had looked at him.
As the day ended Kylo hoped for no issues as he headed out the door, of course he was not so lucky. A group of boys from his class blocked his path at the gate. Their leader, a tall boy named Jack, stepped forward with a sneer.
"Hey, wolf-boy, where do you think you're going?" Jack taunted, his voice dripping with mockery.
Kylo could feel the familiar knot of anxiety tighten in his stomach. "I'm just going home," he replied, trying to keep his voice steady.
"Why don't you go howl at the moon or something?" another boy jeered, causing the others to laugh.
Kylo clenched his fists, fighting the urge to retaliate. He knew that losing his temper would only make things worse. "Just let me through," he said firmly.
Before things could escalate further, a voice called out from behind the group. "Leave him alone!"
It was Anna. She walked up to the group with a determined look on her face. "What's your problem, Jack? Why don't you pick on someone your own size?"
Jack hesitated, clearly surprised by Anna's intervention. After a moment, he scoffed and waved his hand dismissively. "Whatever, let's go," he muttered, leading his friends away.
Kylo let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. "Thanks, Anna," he said quietly.
She smiled at him. "No problem. See you tomorrow, Kylo."
As Kylo watched her walk away, he felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe he was going to be okay after all.
