Chapter 2: Fracture Bounds
The silence after Cell's departure was heavy, almost suffocating. Taylor stood frozen, his fists trembling, his wide eyes darting between Trunks and Android 18. Her sobs cut through the stillness, each one a painful reminder of the truth Cell had revealed.
Trunks clenched his fists, his Super Saiyan aura fading into a faint glow. He couldn't bring himself to look at Android 18. Her broken cries pierced deeper than any wound he had ever suffered in battle.
"Trunks," Taylor said, his voice trembling with anger and disbelief. "Is it true? Did you really do that?"
Trunks closed his eyes, his head hanging low. He didn't answer. He didn't need to.
"You coward!" Taylor shouted, stepping forward and delivering a swift punch to Trunks' face. The impact sent the older warrior stumbling back, but he didn't retaliate. He merely wiped the blood from his lip, his expression hollow.
"Taylor—" Trunks began, but the boy cut him off.
"Don't say anything!" Taylor's voice cracked with emotion, his fists clenched tightly. "I looked up to you! You were supposed to be a hero, someone who fought to save us! And now… now I find out you're no better than the monsters we've been fighting!"
Android 18, her tears streaking her face, stepped forward, her gaze locked on Trunks. "I thought you were just another one of those Saiyan brutes," she said, her voice low and trembling. "But this? This is worse. You didn't just kill my brother—you ruined me. And now…"
Her hand trembled as it rested over her stomach. "Now, I'm carrying the result of your cruelty. I'm pregnant with your child."
Trunks' breath caught in his throat, his eyes wide with shock. He looked at her, then at Taylor, but no words came.
Taylor turned to Android 18, his expression softening. "You're… you're pregnant?"
She nodded, her gaze never leaving Trunks. "And every day, I think about what kind of life this child is going to have. How can I bring them into a world where their father is the monster who destroyed their mother?"
Trunks' knees buckled, and he fell to the ground, his head in his hands. "I never wanted this," he muttered. "I never wanted to hurt you like this. I thought… I thought it was the only way to end the nightmare."
"Nightmare?" Android 18's voice rose, filled with fury. "You think your pain justifies what you did to me? To us?"
Taylor stepped between them, his young face twisted with anger and heartbreak. "You can't just say you're sorry and expect everything to be okay, Trunks! You don't get to act like the hero after what you've done!"
Trunks looked up at Taylor, his eyes filled with tears. "I know. I don't expect forgiveness. I just… I don't know how to fix this."
"You can't fix this," Android 18 spat. "You can't undo what you've done. But if you really want to make up for it, you can start by staying away from me."
Before Trunks could respond, a distant explosion echoed through the ruined city. The three of them turned toward the sound, their personal turmoil momentarily set aside.
"It's Cell," Trunks said, his voice strained. "He's still out there."
Taylor wiped his tears, his resolve hardening. "We can't let him get away. If he gets stronger, none of this will matter."
Android 18 hesitated before nodding. "Fine. But this doesn't mean I forgive you, Trunks. I'm only doing this because I want that monster dead."
Trunks stood, his determination renewed. "I understand. Let's go."
Despite the tension between them, they knew they had to work together. Cell was out there, and the fate of their world depended on their ability to put aside their differences—at least for now.
But as they moved toward the distant explosion, the cracks in their bond threatened to shatter completely. And with every step, Trunks felt the weight of his sins pressing down on him, knowing that no battle he fought could ever make up for what he had done.
