Episode 70: Village of the Meteor

Mew and her friends are now walking through a path known as Rusturf Tunnel in order to get to Petalburg City so Mew can compete for her next gym badge. Since the tunnel is dark, Tomo calls out Blaze the Charmander to help light the way.

Looking at the Pokenav, Max says, "According to the map, we should be out of Rusturf Tunnel soon, and then we can make our way to Petalburg City. Of course, if we take the right, we'll be getting to Meteor Falls."

"Well, we all agree to head to Meteor Falls," Mew says.

"That's right. I need to do some research on the prophecy," Zinnia says.

"Don't worry Zinnia, we haven't forgotten. You've been reminding us for sometime," May says.

Zinnia sheepishly smiles, "Right."

"So Zinnia, the legend you explain was cool," Tomo says.

"Glad you like it. It's been passed down for generations among my people," Zinnia says.

"Do you think the legend will come true someday?" Brock asks.

"Well, it's hard to say at this point, but I plan to stop it if it does come true," Zinnia says.

Mew and the others look at Zinnia and wonder about the stories she's been telling about her people and the legendary Pokemon.

Time passed after walking through Rusturf Tunnel, they soon arrived at the cave area where Meteor Falls is.

"Wow. The cave is really big," Molly says, amazed.

"Yeah. Who knew that there's a tunnel that goes near Rustboro City, and a cave distance away as well," Max says.

"Well then, let's go inside and have a look," Brock says.

"Yeah!" Max, Tomo, and Jen say, excited.

"Let's go explore," Eve says.

Mew, Brock, and Zinnia bring out their flashlights and begin looking around the cave. They look to see stalactites hanging on the ceiling and stalagmites growing from the ground.

May whispers to notice, "Look at the Zubats sleeping near the stalactites."

Mew and the others look to see them sleeping peacefully.

"Wow. Real Zubats," Max says.

"So cool, Tomo says.

The gang continues walking through the cave to see Paras, Sandshrew, Diglett, and other Pokemon that live in the caves.

"Wow. This cave looks really cool," Mew says.

"Yeah. And there are so many Pokemon living there," Brock says.

Suddenly, Molly hears something, "Hey guys, I hear something."

Mew and the others listen carefully.

"Pika Pikachu," (It sounds like running water.) Pikachu says.

"I think you're right, Pikachu," Mew says.

"What Pikachu said," Jen asks.

"He said he hears running water," Mew says.

"You're right, and it's really loud," Jen says.

"Amaura?" (Maybe a waterfall?) Amaura suggests.

"Amaura suggested that it's a waterfall," Tomo says.

"Amaura is right. There's a waterfall at the left area of the tunnel," Zinnia says.

"That's cool," Mew says.

Mew and the others walk out of the tunnel and see a very large cavern area. And Zinnia is right, there's a large waterfall nearby. What's more, there's a river and a wooden bridge that goes over it.

"Wow. That waterfall is huge," Max says.

"This cavern is amazing," Jen adds.

Mew then asks, "Hey Zinnia, you know why this place is called Meteor Falls."

"Well, according to legend, like at Mt. Chimney, a meteorite, was believed to have crashed here many eons ago and have remained in the cave. Believe it or not, my hometown, Meteor Village, is deep within the caves and within the waterfall," Zinnia says.

"Really? That's cool," Mew says.

"Yeah. It must be amazing," May says.

"Yeah, but I advise you to keep this quiet. Not many people know about it, so we try our best to not let the outside know about it," Max says.

"Don't worry, it will be our little secret," Mew says.

"Thanks," Zinnia says.

Brock soon notices, "Hey guys, I don't think we're alone here."

Mew and the others look to notice some people standing across the bridge.

"You're right. There's someone over there," Mew adds.

"Maybe someone else decided to explore the cave," Molly says.

"They might," Mew says, "Maybe someone decided to explore and search for the meteor."

Mew and the others begin walking, but when they get closer, they are shocked to see a familiar uniform and familiar group. Mew gestures to the others to walk back and hide. Mew and the others slowly walk back and away from the bridge. Then hides behind some rocks and boulders.

Mew and the others look to see a familiar group, and a familiar person among them. Homura and the Grunts from Team Magma.

"It's Team Magma," Jen whispers.

"What are they doing here?" May whispers.

"They might be trying to find the village or the meteorite that was legend to be in the falls somewhere," Zinnia says.

"Maybe. Knowing those guys, they think the meteor might have something to do with Groudon," Mew whispers.

"What do we do?" Molly asks, worried.

"Well, we have two options. We either step in and stop Team Magma before they decide to cause problems. Or two, we wait here and listen in on the conversation and learn what they're doing," Mew says.

Suddenly, they hear a voice, "Or three, you all stay put and don't give us any more trouble."

Mew and the others flinch and look to see Shelly and Team Aqua Grunts. The group yelp in surprise, stumble back and fall to the ground with a loud thud. That earns Team Magma's attention to see Mew and her group along with Team Aqua.

"Well, it looks like we have a lot of uninvited guests," Homura says, "The Pokemon Speaker and her friends, along with Team Aqua."

"I can say the same about you, Homura," Shelly says.

Mew and the others get up to find themselves and try to get across the bridge, but Team Magma is blocking them from the other side.

"Sorry kids, but there's no escaping this time," Homura says.

They turn back to see Team Aqua is blocking their way as well.

"Oh, you don't think we'll let you leave so easily," Shelly says, and brings out her Pokeball.

Team Aqua calls out their Crawdaunt, while Team Magma releases their Mightyena.

Now Mew and her friends are surrounded by Team Aqua and Team Magma, with no hope of escaping.

"We're surrounded," May says, worried.

"What do we do?" Max asks.

Zinnia looks down to see the waterfall and the lake below.

Zinnia whispers, "Hey guys, I think I have an idea."

"What is it?" Mew asks.

"Do any of you have Water Pokemon you can ride on?" Zinnia asks.

"I do," Mew answers.

Jen, Tomo, and Molly nod.

"But I don't have any Water Pokemon?" Max asks.

"And Mudkip is too young to carry me," May points out

"Those who don't have a Water Pokemon, hang on to those who do," Zinnia says.

"What's the plan?" Brock asks.

Zinnia then whispers the plan to the group and they all nod in response.

Homura calls out, "Mightyena, use Shadow Ball!"

"Crawdaunt, use Bubble Beam!" Shelly calls out.

And with that, all the Pokemon fire their attacks.

"Now!" Zinnia calls out.

Everyone soon jumps over the bridge and splashes into the river. When all attacks collaide, it sets off explosions that cause the stalactites to come crashing down and smoke spreads across the area.

Shelly calls out, "Team Aqua, call back the pokemon and move out.

"Everyone, evacuate!" Homura calls out.

Both Team Aqua and Team Magma call back their Pokemon and quickly escape from the falling rocks. One of the stalactites even destroyed the bridge.

However, known to Team Aqua and Team Magma, Mew and the others have managed to call out their Water Pokemon and swim up the river.

Molly and May are hanging on to Kingdra. Mew, Brock and Zinnia, along with Pikachu and Eevee, are riding on her Dewgong. Tomo, Meloetta, and Skwovet are riding on Staryu. Jen, Amaura, and Max are riding on Mantyke.

Zinnia points ahead to the path of the river, and judging by the splashing water above, they are swimming under the waterfall. The group continues swimming down the river, which reveals the river continues on behind the waterfall. Mew and the others are surprised by it. Zinnia points up, letting everyone know that it's safe to come up. Everyone does so and looks around to find themselves in a smaller tunnel. The tunnel is around three fight high so they are able to have their Water Pokemon swim in the water. There are also two pathways that allow people to walk on it.

"Wow. this is amazing," Mew says.

"A tunnel behind the waterfall," Brock says.

"That's right. This is one of the secret ways to get to the village," Zinnia says.

Then look ahead, "In fact, we're here guys."

Mew and the others look to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Mew and the others are surprised and do not know what to expect for coming to the village.

The group continues swimming through the tunnel and soon look to see a river down and out of the tunnel. Mew and the others are astonished to see a small village full of people living. Not only that, there are multiple other Pokemon, especially Dragon Type Pokemon, and it appears many are wild or have a trainer. The people live there happily.

"Wow. Look at all the Dragon Pokemon," Max says.

"Yeah. I've never seen so many in one place," Max says.

"It's so cool," Jen adds.

"Your home is really pretty," Molly says.

"Thanks. I really like it too," Zinnia says.

The group continues swimming across the river until they reach the shore. Everyone then climbs out of the water and calls back their Pokemon.

"You did great Dewgong," Mew says.

"You too, Kingdra," Molly says.

"Thanks Staryu," Tomo says.

Everyone calls back their Pokemon in their Pokeballs.

"Welcome to Meteor Village, everyone," Zinnia says.

Everyone is amazed to see the village.

"Wow. The Village looks amazing," Mew says.

"Yeah. I can't believe there's an entire village hidden in the caverns," Brock says.

"Thanks. There are other entrances, but one of the more hidden ones is behind the waterfall," Zinnia says. Then gestures to the group, "Come on, I'll show you around.

Zinnia, Mew, and the others begin walking around the village as Zinnia gives them a tour. They look around to see the village to see people are either chopping wood, weaving, cleaning clothes, doing everyday chores. Outside of the cave, it leads them to a large garden area for fruits and vegetables. Some Dragon Pokemon and others are drinking water from the river, and eating some of the berries.

Brock says, "Wow. This place is amazing."

"Yeah. There are a lot of Dragon Type Pokemon," Max says.

"Glad you all like it," Zinnia says, "Our village has worshiped the Dragon Lord for generations," Zinnia says.

"Dragon Lord?" Molly questions.

"That would be Rayquaza, my child," A voice says.

The group turns to see an elderly woman with long silvery hair. She wears a black gown like outfit with a beige cloak, and wears dark boots. She also wears a white headband over her head.

Zinnia bows, "Hello Elder, it's good to see you."

"And you too, Zinnia. And I've seen you made some friends," The elder says.

Zinnia turns to the group as he says, "Yes. These are my new friends, Ashley, Brock, Tomo, Jen, Molly, May, and her brother Max. and their Pokemon partners."

"Hello," Everyone replies.

Even the Pokemon say their hellos.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all," The Elder says, "So Zinnia, how was your journey going?"

"Doing good, elder. I'm still working finding details about the meteor that might one day come to Hoenn," Zinnia says.

"Zinnia told us about the legend regarding the three legendary Pokemon of the Hoenn Region, and the meteorite a thousand years ago," Mew says.

"Yes. It almost destroyed the world, but Rayquaza was able to prevent the threat from happening thanks to the wishes of both People and Pokemon," The elder says.

"Yes. She even said that Rayquaza was able to mega evolve," Mew says.

"Indeed," The elder says.

The group continues walking along the village and soon come across a large statue of Rayquaza.

Then the elder says, "Of course, it has been foretold that a meteor will descend to this land once more, one greater than the last, and will break our world."

"Do you think it will ever come?" May asks.

"It is possible," The Elder says.

"Yes," Zinnia says, "I've studied about the legend of our people and the power that was used to save the lives of people and Pokemon. However, it's still undetermined if the prophecy will come true and the meteor will try to land once more."

"So, you were on a journey to learn more about Rayquaza and how to stop this meteor?" Max asks.

"Yes," Zinnia says, and smiles at the others, "Of course, I didn't expect to find a group of good friends, and how there are people like Team Aqua and Team Magma planning to misuse legendary Pokemon."

"Team Aqua and Team Magma, huh?" The Elder says, "I believed I heard of those names before."

This earns the group attention.

"You have?" Brock asks.

Back near Meteor Falls, Team Aqua returns to the cave. They have been looking around for Team Magma or Mew and her friends.

The Aqua Grunt says, "Ma'am, it seems that the cave is stable for the time being, but I don't see any sign of Team Magma, or those kids."

"Good. We don't want any more of those distractions from our mission. We need to find the village. I'm sure they know about what we're looking for," Shelly says.

He then begins to wonder, "Hmm, speaking of which, where did those kids go. They jumped off the bridge and just disappeared," He looks down towards the river, "It's most likely they fell into the river. Could they go down the river, or up the river…" He then turns his head towards the waterfall.

Shelly smirks, "Of course, the waterfall."

Then turns to her group, "Call out your water Pokemon! We're going up river!"

Outside of the cave, Team Magma is looking around from the other areas of the caves.

"Hmm, it's obvious that Team Maga is looking for the cave that leads to the Draconids' village. We need to get there before they do, and get them to reveal where the orb is," Homura says.

Soon, one of the Magma Grunts rushes over and says, "Ma'am, we found something hidden in the bushes."

Homura and the others rush over to see the Grunt removing the bushes to reveal some stone-like wall. The Grunt gently moves it to reveal a secret passage with a door made of real stone.

"Well, it is true that the Draconid are experts with their hidden paths," Homura says, "And now we have found our way in."

In the Elder's home, Mew and her friends have been offered something to eat. As they eat, the group really likes what they're having.

"This tastes really good," Mew says.

"Yeah. This vegetable soup is delicious," Brock says.

"Thanks. It's made from the vegetables we grew here," Zinnia says.

"Thank you for some lunch," May says.

"No problem," Zinnia says.

"I'm glad you all are enjoying your stay here," The elder says.

Mew then asks, "By the way ma'am, you've mentioned that you've heard of Team Aqua and Team Magma before."

"Yes. Even I heard tales about the intentions Team Aqua and Team Magma are making. They both have the ill intention to use the legendary Pokemon for their purpose," The Elder says.

"Yes. We heard about it as well," Brock says.

"Yes. Team Magma is searching for the Red Orb also known as the Crimson Orb while Team Aqua is seeking the Blue Orb, also known as the Indigo Orb,"The Elder said.

"The Crimson Orb?" Jen questions.

"Indigo Orb?" Molly questions.

"Yes. The two orbs are ancient artifacts with incredible power. However, in the wrong hands, they can be incredibly dangerous," The Elder explains.

"How come?" Max asks.

"Well, legend has it those orbs have the power to control Groudon and Kyogre. However, the power of the orb and the ancient Pokemon are far too great and almost caused the world to be destroyed by the ancients' selfish greed for power and destruction," The Elder says.

"That's terrible," Mew says.

"Yes. It was. However, according to legend, our people had to take a shocking approach, they created a Green Orb, also known as the Jade Orb or the Verdant Orb," The Elder explains.

The gang reacts in shock.

"So they created their own orb?" Max asks, shocked.

"Yes. With that and the prayer of our people, we were able to summon Rayquaza and with its help, stopped the two legendary Pokemon from their fight, and it unlocked a powerful power in the process as you all called it Mega Evolution," The Elder explains.

"Really?" Molly asks.

"Yes, child," The Elder says, "The tales have been passed down from generation to generation, with the great lore of Lord Rayquaza, who was the beginning of all. It was thanks to Rayquaza that the world was saved from destruction. The chosen Lorekeeper, standing before a stone that shone with rainbow light, offered up a wish to the great one. And Lord Rayquaza's body was suffused with a brilliant light and transformed. In its transformed state, Rayquaza's power was more devastating than ever before, overcoming even the super-ancient Pokémon with all their primal power."

"Really?" Mew asks.

"Yes, it does indeed. A Pokémon, a person, a stone of power. The bonds that tie them all together... The transformation of the Pokémon that occurs as a result of this phenomenon was called 'Mega Evolution by later peoples.'" The Elder says, "The Lorekeeper is the one who has inherited the knowledge and power to summon Lord Rayquaza when disaster imperils the world."

"Yes. And now, it is my turn to become the Lorekeeper," Zinnia says, "I've been exploring all of Hoenn, and other places to understand the legend and what we need to do. If the disaster does come, then I feel that we must summon Rayquaza when it happens. However, it is a risk if I try to use the Jade Orb to summon it. I also haven't been able to require a Key Stone of my own yet."

"Max turns to Mew, "Hey Mew, don't you have a Key Stone?"

"Yes. I do," Mew says, and brings it out.

"Wow. You really have one," Zinnia says, amazed.

"Yes. It was given to me by a man in Lavender Town. He said that myself and Charmander kind of remind him of himself and his Charizard and notice that spark and bond within us," Mew says.

"That's amazing," May says.

"It actually does look like a rainbow stone," Molly says.

"Yeah. I plan to find my own Key Stone, and hope to summon Rayquaza when the time comes," Zinnia says. Then sighs, "But, it's hard to say when the time will come. And when I heard Team Aqua and Team Magma's plans, I decided to infiltrate their bases, disguised as them, and try to get intel on what they're up to."

"You really disguised yourselves as a member and snuck in their base?" Brock asks, shocked.

"That's cool," Tomo says.

"That's dangerous," Mew says, worried.

"It actually was, because I was almost caught after a few months, but I did manage to get some intel on a few places they plan to go, like Mt. Chimney, but I did also learn about them looking for the orbs," Zinnia says.

"Sounds like you got a few details about them," Jen says.

"Yes. However, finding more about the meteorite and about Rayquaza, I had to research it myself," Zinnia says.

"Sounds like you've done a lot of research," Brock says.

"I did," Zinnia says.

Meanwhile, Team Aqua has used their Water Pokemon to dive in the water and are able to tunnel the secret tunnel. They swim through and soon find the village as they rise from the water. And they are ready to attack.

Meanwhile, Team Magma walks through the other tunnel on the land and soon opens the tarp to reveal the village, and each of them grab their Pokeballs, and are ready to attack.

Back in the Elder's home, the group has finished eating.

"Thanks for the meal," Jen says.

"Thank you," Molly says.

"You're welcome," The Elder says.

She then asks, "So Zinnia, what are you and your friends up to now?"

"Well, I still plan to do my research and find ways to stop the meteor," Zinnia says. Then turns to Mew and the others, "Of course, I plan to continue traveling with my friends."

"Yeah. We're going to Petalburg City so I can battle and hope to earn my next badge," Mew says.

"Of course, Ashley and I are also in Pokemon Contests, and plan to find the next contest to compete in," May says.

"As for me, I plan to be the best Pokemon Breeder," Brock says.

"Yeah. And Brock has been teaching us," Max says.

May nods in response.

"And we are also traveling to a lot of places and getting to see many Pokemon," Molly says.

"Yeah," Jen adds.

"I also plan to start getting badges too, someday," Tomo says.

"Sounds like you got quite a unique group," The elder says.

"You have no idea," Zinnia says and giggles.

Mew and the others smile as well, and the Pokemon along with Aster are having a good relaxing time. Suddenly, Piakchu and Eevee's ears twitch, and Aster gets up, looking worried.

Suddenly, they begin to hear murmurs, and quickly change to screaming and panicking.

"What's going on?" Max asks.

"It sure is loud," May says.

Mew says, "I don't like it."

"I agree," Zinnia says, getting serious, "Something's wrong."

The group then rushes out and to their shock, they see some of the villagers and their Pokemon being attacked by Crawdaunt, and Team Aqua is with them.

Shelly calls out, "Crawdaunt, multiple Bubble Beams!"

The Crawdaunt begin attacking, forcing the villagers to retreat to their homes.

"It's Team Aqua!" Molly says, shocked.

"What are they doing here?" Jen asks.

"They must have found one of their tunnels," Max says.

May soon hears screaming at the other side and turns her head.

What she sees has May worried, "Uh guys, I think we got bigger trouble."

"What's wrong?" Brock asks.

May points over, "Them!"

Mew and the others turn and gasps in shock.

Mightyenas begin attacking the villagers and the Pokemon, forcing then away or into their homes. To make things worse, Team Magma is with them.

"Well, looks like we just got about everyone in their little homes," Homura says.

Mew and the others become stunned to see them.

"Team Magma is here too!" Tomo says, shocked.

"This is really bad. Now we gotta deal with both of them," Zinnia says.

Hmoura turns to see Mew and the others. The gang flinches.

"He spotted us!" Max panics.

Homoura confronts them, "You kids again!"

The elder says, "Everyone, inside!"

Everyone rushes inside and the Elder closes the door. The gang closes the windows and blocks the door. Zinnia, Mew, Brock, and Tomo block the door while everyone else makes sure the windows are shut.

Homura walks over, "You better come out of there! I like to talk to your elders!"

This has Mew and the others worried.

"Actually…" Shelly says, walking over with the Aqua Grunts, "We like to have a discussion with her ourselves."

Mew and the others remain inside as they look deeply worried about the situation.

"This is very bad," Zinnia says.

"Yeah, and they don't plan on leaving," Brock says.

"We need to find a way to stop Team Magma and Team Aqua, but… but how…" Mew says, worried.

Things have really taken a terrible turn. Mew and her friends, along with Zinnia and the Elder are now trapped within the Elder's home, and Team Aqua and Team Magma's intentions regard with the Elder. How will these young heroes get out of this situation they're in?
