Episode 87: A Shroomish Skirmish
Still working their way towards Fortree City, Mew hopes to earn her sixth badge. As of now, Mew and her friends are in the Shroomish Forest for one of Brock's meals. As of now, everyone is chowing down on Brock's meals.
"This is really delicious, Brock," Mew says.
"Yeah. Today is a beautiful day with delicious food, nothing could make this day more perfect," May says.
"Well, there's plenty so you can have seconds if you want," Brock says.
"Hear that everyone? It's all you can eat," Max says.
All the Pokemon are happy.
As for Shroomish, he is eating and loving the forest.
"You're really liking the forest, huh," Max says.
Max's Shroomish nods in response.
Meanwhile, Corphish has finished his meal and says, "Corphish Cor Cor." (I think I'll need seconds.)
Corphish eyes Torchic's food, but he blocks him, irking him. Moments later, Corphish takes a clawful of Torchic's food and eats it, before proceeding to eat the rest, greatly upsetting Torchic that it made him cry.
May rushes over, "What's going on, Torchic?"
Torchic explains everything as she cries.
Understanding what Torchic says, Mew asks, "What? Corphish ate all your food?"
Torchic nods in response, still in tears.
Mew turns to Corphish, "Why would you do that, Corphish?"
"Corphish." (Hungry.) Corphish answers.
"Corphish, you could have just asked Brock for some more instead of stealing from someone else. It's not very nice," Mew says.
Torchic angrily shouts at Corphish.
Mew crosses her arms, "Alright Corphish, I want you to apologize to Torchic right this minute?"
Corphish tries to play innocent, but ends up getting into a shouting match with Torchic. But Pikachu and Mudkip step in to keep them from fighting, though their bickering continues)
"Corphish, what's your problem?" Mew asks.
"Come on, Torchic, calm down," May says, worried.
"What's everyone getting so worked up about?" Max asks.
"I think Mew said something about Corphish eating all of Torchic's food," Zinnia says.
"I guess it's the one thing that nobody wants to share," Brock says.
Torchic fires an Ember while Corphish fires Bubble Beam, causing Pikachu to force them to stop with a Thunderbolt that ultimately shocks EVERYONE.
Corphish angrily asks, "Corphish, Cor?!" (What'd you go and shock me for, you rodent?!)
"Pi Pikachu," (That, was an accident.) Pikachu says.
Mew walks over, "Corphish, knock it off. It's your fault for stealing Torchic's food."
Corphish fires a Bubble Beam at Torchic and Pikachu, but they both evade in time. Torchic fires an Ember attack, but Corphish evades. And soon, both Pokemon begin attacking while the rest of the group run and dodge the two attacks.
"Everyone, get all your Pokemon back in their Pokeballs!" Brock calls out.
"Okay!" Everyone agrees and calls back their Pokemon.
Max cries out, "Shroomish, look out!"
Shroomish almost gets hit and is sent back. Max catches him in the nicktime.
And yet, Torchic and Corphish continue to fight, all the while, Grovyle just relaxes under a tree. Elsewhere, Team Rocket had collapsed from hunger.
"I always thought my last words would be much more profound than a stomach growl," Jessie says.
"It feels like it's been forever since we've eaten anything," James says.
"No, just two days, eleven hours, forty-two minutes and six seconds, but who's counting?" Meowth says.
And Jessie says, "How could a ruthless criminal like myself have ended up lying here dreaming of a juicy cheeseburger? I hate to admit it, but right now, I'd settle for peanut butter and jelly."
"Yeah, things just never quite roll our way, do they?" James says.
Wobbuffet says, "Wobbuffet!" (They never do!)
Soon, Happiny comes out of the Pokeball and asks, "Happ Happiny." (Mommy, I'm hungry.)
"Happiny said she's hungry," Meowth says.
"I know, but we're all drained from hunger," Jessie says.
Soon, an apple rolls towards James, and notices it, "I think I'm becoming delirious to the point that I'm seeing imaginary apples," But soon realizes it's real, "Hold on!" And grabs it, "It's a real apple!"
Jessie pouches on him with Happinny on her head, "How lovely, James! Well, as they say, ladies first."
James pulls away, "Not!"
Then Meowth pounces on James, "Hey! Take care of your Pokémon, foist!"
Wobbuffet says, "Woooobbuffet!" (Giiiimme that!)
Happyiny then grabs the apple, "Happ Happiny." (Tug a war time!)
"Happiny, this ain't tug a war!" Meowth says.
Jessie giggles, "Silly little bean you are."
They soon hear something in front of them before looking to see it's a group of mad Shroomish, all but one of which are carrying an apple on their heads.
"Look at all da apples!" Meowth says.
"So this apple belongs to one of these Shroomish," James says.
Jessie happily says, "Goody, so let's take what they have left then look for the tree they picked it all from!"
All the Pokemon cheer, "(Iiiiit's lunch time!)
The Shroomish make a quick escape.
Team Rocket chases after them as they call out, "Rocket: Get back here with those apples!"
Back over with our heroes, Torchic and Corphish were still fighting, and Pikachu and Mudkip were still trying to make them stop, though they just punt them out of the way and make them hit a tree, face first, which makes Grovyle finally take notice and step in by using Leaf Blade to slice a line in the dirt. Which causes Torchic to fearfully run to May and jump into her arms.
"About time you settled down, what's going on with you," May says.
Corphish just turns away in a huff.
Mew walks over, "Good thinking, Grovyle. Thanks for helping us out."
"Grovyle," (No problem.) Grovyle says.
Pikachu and Mudkip sigh, thankful that the squabble is over.
Meanwhile, the Shroomish are pestering Team Rocket, who had stolen and were eating their apples.
"Those Shroomish are annoying," Jessie says, "What are they saying, Meowth?"
Meowth translates, "Dey're saying dat dis is deir forest, and any and all apple trees belong to dem, too."
"So what'll they do if we don't return the apples we haven't eaten yet? They'll charge us with grand theft apple?" James replies.
"Wobbuffet." (Thaaat's silly.)
Suddenly, more Shroomish drop down from the trees.
"Seems they've called for backup," James says.
"Why? Sos dey can whine louda?" Meowth asks, not caring.
Jessie takes a bite from her apple, "It'll take something more threatening than a Shroomish to get these apples away from us."
"Yeah," The boys say and take a bite of their apples.
Suddenly, the Shroomish who just arrived begin to glow.
Meowth is the first to notice, "Uh oh, I tink dey're up ta someting."
The Shroomish morph until they get bigger, taller and grow arms, tails, and longer legs along with distinctive bodies before the glows fade to reveal their new forms as Breloom.
Breloom is a bipedal, mushroom-like Pokémon with some kangaroo and dinosaur-like qualities. Most of its body is green, but its head to its neck and its tail are beige. On top of its head is a green, mushroom-like cap with beige gills underneath and a round, red berry-like growth with a hole in the middle on either side. It has oval, black eyes, a beak-like mouth, and frilled segments around the base of its neck. There are two red claws on each of its hands and feet. At the end of its tail, there are seed clusters made of hardened toxic spores.
"Like, growing about three feet?!" James says, worried.
"Dey evolved into Breloom!" Meowth says.
Worried, Jessie says, "They look a bit stronger now. Do you think they're still upset about the apples?"
One of the Breloom jumps up and smashes the stump the apples were resting on, causing Team Rocket to panic.
"Yep, my guess is dey're still pretty mad!" Meowth cries out.
The Breloom soon charge, causing Team Rocket to run for their lives.
Jessie calls back her Pokemon, "Happiny! Wobbuffet! Return, now!" and calls back her Pokemon.
Meanwhile, Brock is busy searching in his backpack.
"I'm gonna make some food just for Torchic this time," Brock says.
"Thank you, Brock," May says.
"Torchic." (Thank you.) Torchic says.
Meanwhile, Mew checks Shroomish, and sees that it didn't receive much injuries.
"Shroomish seems okay, only a little scrapes and bruises," Mew says.
"Thanks Mew," Max says.
"Shroomish," (Thanks.) Shroomish says.
They soon hear Team Rocket screaming.
"Anyone hear screaming?" Tomo asks.
Team Rocket soon jumps out from behind some bushes, exhausted by the chase.
"Team Rocket?" Jen questions.
"What do you want?" May asks.
Seeing the group, Team Rocket stands up and performs their motto.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble cause we're hungry to fight!
James:
Make it double when we…
But interrupted when Meowth shouts, "Hey! Forget that, there's leftover food here!"
Jessie and James squeals in excitement.
Then they sit down at the pot full of food.
"Dinner is served!" Team Rocket says before gobbling down the leftover of the gang's lunch.
"Wow. Look at them go,"Molly says.
"Guess they don't seem to be concerned about table manners," May says.
"They act like they haven't eaten in days," Zinnia says.
"At least we finished our lunch," Mew says.
Jessie sighs in content, "That hit the spot."
"Full tummy, happy hearts," Team Rocket says, satisfied.
"We are the world," James says.
Meowth agrees, "Yes, peace and love."
Then Team Rocket turns to face the group.
Jessie says, "Now, back to them."
James whispers to Meowth, "How far did I get?"
"Right around make it double," Meowth whispers back.
"Ah, I remember now," James whispers before continuing on with the motto.
James:
Make it double!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
And James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket ate your lunch at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Meowth:
Dat's right!
Wobbuffet:
Wobbuffet! (Thaaat's a wrap!)
Then Max asks, "Anyway, who were you guys running away from?"
This makes Team Rocket horrified.
"Oh, yeah," Jessie says.
"A horde of angry mushroom caps are running after us!" James says.
"Let's cut to da chase!" Meowth screams.
Soon, the Breloom show up, and boy are they angry.
"Check it out! Breloom!" Max says.
"Shroomish!" (Awesome!) Max's Shroomish reply.
"Cool!" May, Jen, and Molly reply.
But Team Rocket screams in horror, "Keep those things away from us!"
May gets out her Pokédex and Dextette says, "Breloom, the Mushroom Pokémon. A Grass and Fighting Type. Breloom is the evolved form of Shroomish. Its excellent footwork gets it within striking distance of its opponent, where it unleashes a barrage of punches."
"Cool, huh, Shroomish," Max says.
Max's Shroomish nods in response.
However, Brock says, "Those are some pretty angry Breloom."
Mew turns to Team Rocket, "Did you three do something to make them mad?"
No, we didn't," James says.
But Meowth says, "Actually, we may have just possibly eaten a few apples dat dey claimed were deirs."
"You stole their food?" Molly asks.
"Okay, so we stole some of their lousy apples, but they had quite a few of them anyway and we hadn't eaten anything in two days before then! We were practically starving to death!" Jessie says, angrily.
But James says, "Calm down, Jessie
"You might make dem mad enough to attack," Meowth says.
But Jessie screams, "I don't care how mad they get! And let me tell you one thing, mushroom heads, your precious fruit wasn't even all that good! How do you like them apples?!"
However, the Breloom charge their claws for an attack.
"Now you've really done it now, Jessie!" Mew cries out.
"They're performing a Mach Punch Attack!" Max cries out.
The large group of Breloom sends them all flying in different directions with a combined Mach Punch.
At one group, May along with Jen, Amaura, and Mudkip and up near a cliff as they hang onto a branch.
"Are you all okay?" May asks.
"I'm good," Jen says.
"Mudkip," (I'm good.) Mudkip says.
"Amaura," (I'm okay.) Amaura says.
"Where are we?" May asks.
They all look down and find themselves high above a gorge.
"That's a long drop!" Jen says, nervously.
Then May says, "I have an idea, then. Let's not look down."
The Pokemon agree, (Agreed.)
"May, how are we going to get out?" Jen asks.
"I have an idea. Follow me," May says.
"Okay," Jen agrees.
With that, the group follows May to find an idea out of this mess.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Corphish and Torchic run into each other. Torchic looked around for May, but couldn't find her and started crying. Corphish soon started going one way and Torchic followed after him. Suddenly, they end up meeting Meloetta, which they're very glad to see.
Meanwhile, with Mew's group. Mew, Brock, and Zinnia are searching for the others.
Mew calls out, "May?! Max?! Tomo?! Meloetta?! Skwovet?!"
"Molly?! Jen?! Amaura?!" Zinnia calls out.
Brock calls out, "Mudkip, Torchic, where are you?!"
"This is a big problem with all of us getting split up," Mew says.
"Yeah, the quicker we regroup, the better chance we'll have against those Breloom," Brock says.
Then Pikachu calls out, "Pika Pi." (Ash.)
Everyone turns toward Pikachu as he and Eevee get on Swellow's back.
"Pikachu Pika Pika," (Eevee, Swellow and I can search from the air) Pikachu says.
"Great idea. You three can get a better look around from the air and the rest can search on the ground," Mew says.
"And you might be able to see farther than us," Brock says.
Soon, Swellow takes off with Pikachu and Eevee.
"Come on, let's go look around," Zinnia says.
The gang then heads off to search for the others, but some of the Breloom get the jump on them and one of them tries to goad them into a fight.
"Hey, why are you trying to pick a fight with us?"" Mew asks.
The Breloom charge.
"Run!" Zinnia cries out.
Everyone runs off from the Breloom.
Soon, Tomo, Max, Molly, Skwovet, and Shroomish end up running into Meowth.
"Where did everybody go?" Meowth asks.
They soon see Meowth coming out of some bushes.
"Meowth?!" Max, Tomo, and Molly cry out in shock.
"It's the younger twerps?" Meowth asks.
"This is your fault!" Tomo says.
"Yeah. If you and your buddies hadn't stolen the Breloom's food, we wouldn't be in this mess," Max says.
"Apple thieves!" Molly adds.
Meowth sighs, "I was hoping we can put the past behind us and work together."
They soon hear a rustling nearby.
"Do you think it's the Breloom?" Molly asks, worried.
"I hope not," Max says.
Soon, out of the bushes are Meloetta, Torchic, and Corphish.
"Meloetta!" Tomo happily says.
"Loett!" (Tomo!) Tomo happily says and flies over.
"And Corphish and Torchic too," Max says.
The two Pokemon run to the others.
"It's good to see you guys," Molly says.
The Pokemon agrees.
"Come on, let's go find the others," Max says.
They all soon take their leave and leave Meowth by himself.
Meowth crosses his arms and says, "I'm making decisions round here and I say its best ta stay put and wait for someone ta find us. Dat's da plan!"
"Come on, Meowth! We don't want you to be left behind," Tomo calls out.
Seeing them leaving, Meowth calls out, "Okay, okay! Wait up! We'll go find them!" and rushes off to catch up.
Meanwhile, May and her group are walking up the hill.
"I wonder where everyone else ended up," May says.
"Me too," Jen says.
Suddenly, Mudkip detects something with its fin.
May soon remembers, "Oh, that's right, the fin on Mudkip's fin works like radar."
"You can help find the others, right Mudkip?" Jen asks.
"Mudkip," (That's right.) Mudkip says.
"Am?" (Huh?) Amaura replies confused.
"What's wrong, Amaura?" Jen asks.
May looks ahead and notices, "I think someone is coming from that hill."
They soon look at the top of the hill and see Jessie and James running down their way, and very fast.
May quietly says, "Oh, no."
Jessie cries out, "Help us!"
"We're running so fast we can't stop!" James cries out.
"Team Rocket?" Jen questions.
Everyone moves aside just in time to see them run by.
Jessie and James scream, "Help us twerpettes!"
May and Jen cry out, "Watch out for that last step!"
But it's too late, Jessie and James end up falling off the cliff and land on the branch May's group landed on.
"Well, that could've been a whole lot worse," James says.
They soon both look down and see the gorge. Then sit up and hug each other for dear life.
"Talk about risking life and limb," Jessie says.
Soon, three of the Breloom look down at them.
James says, ""We have two choices; climb up the cliff and get beaten to a pulp by angry mushroom Pokémon, or perhaps jump."
Jessie just cries out in distress.
Above, Swellow, Pikachu, and Eevee continue their search.
Eevee calls out, "Eevee1" (Hey guys!)
"Pika Pika." (Where are you, guys?) Pikachu calls out.
Down on the ground, with Max's group, Torchic still seemed sad, though Corphish told him to cut it out. Meloetta responds by kicking Corphish to the side as she and Skwovet comfort Torchic.
"So what's wit dose two?" Meowth asks.
"Corphish here ate Torchic's food," Tomo says.
"And Torchic must be worried he'll never see May again," Max adds.
"Crying don't help, I already tried dat," Meowth says.
"Let's get back to searching, shall we?" Molly says.
Everyone starts to head off, save for Meowth.
Meowth humphs in response, "I'm da brains of dis operation and I say we're gonna stand right here and wait til somebody finds us."
"This is no time to be standing around!" Tomo calls out.
"Huh?" Meowth responds and sees them leaving, "Hey! Where do you guys tink your goin witout me?! You need me! Alright, alright, I'm coming!" rushes after them.
Meanwhile, with May's group, Mudkip was busy searching with its fin until it got a ping.
"Are you picking something up, Mudkip?" May asks.
"Mudkip," (That way.) Mudkip says.
"I think Mudkip says it's that way," Jen says.
"Okay," May says.
They all head to the left.
Meanwhile, Mew and her group are still running from the Breloom that's been chasing them.
"What do you think we should do?" Zinnia asks.
"Well, we either try to reason with the Breloom or battle them, or just keep running," Mew says.
"Problem is, we don't have any quarrel with the Breloom, they're likely just confused and angry," Brock says.
"I don't blame them after Team Rocket stealing their food, but they're not the type to talk," Zinnia says.
Mew soon stops, "Alright, I have enough of that.
Everyone else comes to a stop.
"Mew, don't!" Brock calls out.
The Breloom quickly pounce and pummel Mew, only for Mew to get up and start swinging
She screams, "Oh, yea?! Take that, and that! and that! and that! and that! and that! and that! and that! and that!"
Soon, Mew and the three Breloom end up having a brawl against each other.
Brock and Zinnia quickly pull Mew out and hurry away.
"Mew, I think you made your point!" Brock says.
"We're getting out of here!" Zinnia says.
But Mew is not giving up, "Let go of me, guys! If these Breloom want a battle I'll give them a battle!"
"I'm surprised to see Mew like this," Zinnia says.
"She doesn't always act like that except when she gets really mad," Brock says.
Brock then says to Mew, "Mew, you need to calm down! We gotta find the others!"
Suddenly, they all go tumbling down a hill.
Meanwhile, Max's group reaches a dead end.
"Well, so much for this trail. It's a dead end," Max says.
"What will we do now?" Molly asks.
Torchic then spots something, "Torchic Tor!" (Look at that!)
"Torchic says he spotted something," Tomo says.
The group soon spots a large pile of fruit.
"Look at all dat fresh fruit!" Meowth says.
"Wow. There are so many different fruits and berries," Molly says.
"I wonder who stored all this up," Max sys.
"I'm guessing a group of Wild Pokemon. They must live near here," Max says.
The Pokemon agree.
Meowth grows worried, "I got a feeling we're about to find out who owns this pantry.
Soon, the Breloom and Shroomish show up, causing the group to panic.
"Dey tink we've come ta steal deir stash!" Meowth cries out.
Everyone seems to panic, but the Shroomish and Corphish step up to defend their friends, in Corphish's case, Torchic. Of course, Corphish and Shroomish see that there's no reasoning with those Pokemon.
Meanwhile, Pikachu. Eevee, and Swellow spot Max and his group.
Eevee says, "Vee Vee Eevee Eevee!" (Swellow, find the others! Pikachu and I will get to Max and the group!)
"Swellow!" (You got it!) Swellow says.
Pikachu and Eevee jump off of Swellow, while he flies off to find the others.
Pikachu and Eevee soon land on the ground Max's group and the Breloom and Shroomish.
"Hey! Pikachu!" Max says.
"Eevee, too!" Molly says.
One of the Breloom steps up and both Pikachu and Eevee prepare for battle.
Meanwhile, Mew and her group end up hurtling towards the cliff, and they all fall over.
Jessie looks up, "What now?"
James looks up, "It's three of the twerps"
They land on the branch, causing it to break, which results in them, including Jessie and James falling down the gorge, with the others following shortly after.
Brock then calls out, "Forretress, use Rapid Spin, now!"
Forretress comes out and performs the attack saving the lives of everyone by creating a small tornado that breaks everyone's fall
"That was a close one!" Zinnia says.
"Thanks Forretress," Mew says.
"That was perfect timing, Forretress," Brock says.
Forretress says, "Forretress." (Thank you.)
Jessie screams at them, "Are you nuts?! We could have been squished!"
"Very rude!" James says.
"Hey we happened to save your necks. Besides, this is your fault for getting the Breloom mad by stealing their food," Brock says.
Soon, Swellow arrives on the scene.
"What's up, Swellow?" Mew calls out.
Swellow explains that he found the others, but had trouble coming.
Meanwhile, Eevee Pikachu throws a dual Iron Tail, though one of the Breloom countered with one of its own. Pikachu and Eevee end up hitting the wall of the canyon while the Breloom landed on its feet
Meowth panics, "It's more den agile, it's stronger den both Pikachu and Eevee put togetha! Dis is bad!"
Five of the six Breloom soon charge at Corphish, though Corphish fires a Bubble Beam to make them separate. The sixth Breloom then closes in with a Mach Punch aimed right at Torchic, only for Corphish to jump in and take the hit.
"And it has a super powerful Mach Punch attacks, too!" Meowth panics.
Two Breloom try to attack the others, but Shroomish gives them a hard tackle attack.
"Nice world, Shroomish!" May says.
But then one of the Breloom slams Shroomish to the ground, but Corphish tackles him. But just then, another Breloom landed a sneak attack on Stomp from behind. Another of the Breloom soon strikes Corphish and continues to strike as Torchic is forced to watch Corphish get battered.
"Corphish is getting hurt trying to protect Torchic," Molly says.
"This is bad," Tomo says.
One of the Breloom soon closes in with another Mach Punch, but Corphish stands ready.
"Look out, Crophish!" Tomo calls out.
Suddenly, a powerful Water Gun blasts the Breloom into the wall, they soon see it's May and her group.
"May!" Max happily says, "You and your team showed up just in time."
Everyone is relieved to see each other, especially Tochic. But then, Corphish collapses.
"Corphish!" Jen cries out.
"Oh no, he's hurt," Molly says, worried.
Corphish struggles to get up.
Soon, a group of Breloom approach Crophish.
Shroomsih shouts, "Shroo Shroomish!" (Stop it right now!) and rushes to protect Corphish and fires Bullet Seed, forcing the Breloom back.
Suddenly, Torchic steps in to protect Corphish and Shroomish, much to their surprise. Torchic then lets out a powerful cry and begins to glow.
May is amazed, "Whoa! Torchic!"
"Mudkip!" (Oh, my!) Mudkip says.
Torchic morphs until she gets bigger legs and feet, arms, and a bigger body.
"Check it out!" Max says.
"Yeah, dat fire boid's evolving!" Meowth says.
"Corphish?" (Torchic?) Corphish says, amazed.
The glow fades to reveal a new Pokémon in Torchic's place. Torchic has evolved into Combusken.
Combusken shouts, "Combusken!" (Let's do this!)
"Torchic evolved into Combusken!" Max says.
May gets out her Pokédex, Dextette says, "Combusken, the Young Fowl Pokémon. A Fire and Fighting Type. Combusken is the evolved form of Torchic. As a fighting Pokémon, it has the ability to breathe raging fire from its beak and to unleash high-powered kicks."
Combusken then says, "Combusken!" (Bring it on!)
Right on cue, the others arrive.
"There you guys are!" Zinnia says.
Jessie and James call out, "Meowth!"
"Hey guys!" Max says.
The Pokemon are relieved.
Meowth rushes to Jessie and James, "Where've yous two been?"
But Brock notices, "Wait a second! May, did your Torchic just evolve?!"
"Sure did!" May says.
"Awesome, May!" Zinnia says.
"So cool," Mew says.
Just then, the lead Breloom comes up and has its sight on Combusken.
"What's it want?" James asks.
"Da head Breloom wants ta battle Combusken one on one!" Meowth says.
Combusken says, "Com Busken!" (I accept!)
The head Breloom leaps and readies an Iron Tail.
"It's Iron Tail!" Jen says.
"Well here goes," May says and calls out, "Combusken! Peck!"
Combusken leaps and nails the head Breloom right in the sternum with a single Peck. sending it flying into the wall.
"Hey May, since Combusken evolved, tell him to use Fire Spin. It will be more effective against Breloom," Mew suggests.
"I'll give it a shot, then," May says, then calls out, "Fire Spin, Combusken!"
Combusken fires the attack, but the head Breloom counters with a Mach Punch strong enough to disperse the flames. The head Breloom soon closes in with another one.
"Oh, no. What now?" May asks, worrying.
But Brock says, "Remember, Combusken is a fighting type now, so just stay calm and keep your cool. So now, Combusken can use Fighting Attacks."
"Try getting Combusken to use Sky Uppercut, May," Max says.
"Alright, then!" May says, Then calls out, "Sky Uppercut!"
Combusken leaps with three claws aglow before nailing Breloom right in the face.
Both Pokémon land, though the head Breloom takes a knee. The other Breloom prepare to attack, but the leader backs them off.
Breloom says, "Loom Breloom! Loom Loom Loom!" (No more of those fancy attacks! Let's finish this with our bare hands!)
This has Tomo, Mew, and Meowth shocked.
"What's it saying now?" Molly asks.
"Breloom wants them to fight physically now," Mew says, worried.
"Yeah, it's saying it doesn't want to trow anymore of dose tricky attacks, it wants to finish da battle wit deir bare hands!" Meowth says.
Everyone is shocked to hear it.
Then Combusken accepts, "Combusken!" (Bring it on!)
Breloom and Combusken soon start throwing punches and kicks as if they are in a fighting competition, with Corphish and the other Pokemon cheering Combusken on. Everyone continues on as the fight continues. The two continue going at it until they both land a punch right in their faces.
Breloom says, "Breloom." (Not a bad punch.)
"Combusken." (Yours too.) Combusken says.
Both Pokémon collapse.
Jessie asks, "Uh, what were they just saying, Meowth?"
Meowth translates, "Breloom said, 'Not a bad punch.' And Cumbusken says, 'Yours too.'" and he falls to the ground.
Jessie happily claps, "Alright, they earned each other's respect."
"Yes, there's nothing stronger than a friendship formed in battle," James says.
The two soon get up and eye Team Rocket.
Breloom says, "Loom, Breloom!" (Let's pay those thieves for stealing the apples!)
"Com Busk Ken!" (I'm with you, mushroom boy!) Combusken says.
Max' Shroomish says, "Shroo Shroomish! (Yeah! Team Rocket is responsible for this mess anyway!)
Jessie nods.
And James says, "I'm certainly agreeing with everything you're trying to say."
"What dey're saying is deir gonna make us pay for stealing da apples, and for causing dis mess," Meowth says.
They soon realize what the three have in mind. Breloom throws a Mach Punch, Combusken launches a Fire Spin, and Shroomish fires a Bullet Seed Attack. That causes Team Rocket to be sent flying.
Meowth cries out, "YEOW!"
"That smarts!" James cries out.
"Those apples had weedles anyway!" Jessie says.
Wobbuffet says, "Wobbuffet!" (You said it!)
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
"Wobbuffet!" (Until next time!) Wobbuffet says.
Down on the ground, the head Breloom and Combusken shake hands.
Breloom says, "Breloom." (Thank you.)
"Combusken." (You're welcome.) Combusken says.
"Looks like things are patched up now," Mew says.
"They went from enemies to friends," May says.
"I bet they have a lot in common because they're both part Fighting-types," Brock says.
The Pokemon agree.
Shroomish walks to Breloom and begins talking and seems amazed.
"What Shroomish says?" Max asks.
"Shroomish is an expression of how amazed it is to see the battle, and hope to become strong and evolve someday to be even stronger," Mew translates.
"Really?" Max asks, and walks to Shroomish, "Hey Shroomish, you wish to become stronger."
Shroomish nods.
"Well then, let's train really hard so we can get stronger," Max says.
Shroomish happily agrees.
Max then sheepishly says, "But for now, I saw we get something to eat. It's been a long time since we ate."
Shroomish agrees and expresses his hunger.
"Yeah. With all that running around, it really builds up an appetite," Tomo says.
"I agree," Mew says.
The girls also agree.
"Yeah. I'm hungry too. Why not have a lunch break," Brock says.
"Good idea!" Everyone agrees.
Soon, everyone is now sitting down and having their lunch while the Pokemon are chowing down.
"Combusken was awesome in his first battle," Max says.
"Yeah. It was amazing," Brock says.
"I agree. That battle against Breloom was epic," Jen says.
"It gave me interesting ideas for my next battle, especially fighting ideas for Combusken," Mew says.
Then turns to May, "Maybe they can have battle practice together."
"Yeah. That's a great idea," May agrees.
Meanwhile, Corphish had just finished eating lunch and tried to sneak some from Combusken's bowl.
Combusken turns to Corphish, "Combusken!" (Don't even try!)
"Phish! Corphish." (Whoa! Sorry.) Corphish says and nervously backs away as Combusken glares at him.
"Shroomish Shroomish," (Guess that'll teach him a lesson.) Shroomish says.
And soon, everyone begins laughing.
And so, May's new Combusken has shown off some powerful new fighting capabilities. And now, Mew is more determined then ever to get to her next gym battle and earn their sixth badge.
