Chapter 5
Katniss and Peeta just went in to get prepped for their stylist. I remembered for my games I had a group of school students for my prep team. Now they have these fancy rich capitol stylists. This year district 12s stylists are new ones cinna and portia. They specifically asked for district twelve which is crazy to me because who would willingly take on the district that is bound to lose. I can hardly stand looking at them and I'm from twelve.
My phone starts ringing and I open it to see a contact saved as 4 it's Finnick odair I answered it and I heard finnicks voice come through the phone a little bit disoriented the reception must be very bad because every word he says is cut of by a buzz or a scratching sound I already had a headache so I just hung up if it was really important he would ring me back another time.
I get a bottle of liquor I actually consider not drinking it all because I promise I would stay sober enough to actually give the kids a chance of making it passed the blood bath I don't know why I agreed to help I can barely take care of myself let alone two terrified kids who have about a 40% chance of surviving
Finnick rings me again I'm tempted to just ignore him but he wouldn't call unless it was important Finnic odair was the victor the 65th hunger games he is also the youngest ever victor who won at age 14 most tributes don't even get reaped until there 16 or 17 "hello I say" as I hold my phone up to my ear "hey haymitch its finnick" Finnick says whispering "yeah I know who you are. Why are you whispering is the real question?" I asked curiously "I'm in 13 and we're not allowed phones. I just came out of a meeting" he replies "aren't you meant to be preparing some kids to die?" I asked "yeah but they're in with their stylist. Where are you? We were waiting for you for like 20 minutes" Finnick said, raising his voice a little "oh shit! I forgot I was meant to go to that one sorry." I said "yeah well nothing really happened but coin was not happy you weren't there." Finnick said his voice even lower "yeah well coins never happy. Anyway I should go, this year's sacrifice is nearly finished being prepped." I say "you shouldn't underestimate them. I saw that girl volunteer for her sister She might have a chance And the boy has some muscle on him you never know how that could turn out." Finnick said "bye" I said before hanging up
I head down to the remake center to see if I can get a glimpse of their costumes. For my tribute parade me and the tree other district 12 tributes were all just put in overalls.
By the time I get there the tributes were already in there chariots and going through the doors so I just head into the audience. I always hate the tribute parade especially after what happened during mine oh poor louella my sweetheart during the parade someone tossed a firework into the crowd the horse pulling the chariot crashed into district 6's flinging both me and louella off i was furious with the capitol and filled with rage I picked louella up trying to deny her from the capiol the peacekeepers chased after me as i sprinted as far as I could as ended up running straight to president snow I placed her body on the ground and clapped. I don't even want to think about what happened after that
"DISTRICT TWELVE!" A voice announced everyone's head turned to look and I can't believe it. fire. Fire coming from there clothes it was fantastic far better than the overalls that 12 usually wears. And look at that there holding hands cinna is just a genius holding hands was the small perfect touch of rebellion showing them together united.
Someone throws out a rose and Katniss catches it gives it a sniff and blows a kiss back in the direction of the giver. At least a 100 hands reach up to catch it.
Snow comes out to give his usual welcome speech I've heard it so many times I nearly know it off by heart and then the chariots do one more circle and go into the training center.
