0713MM: I don't own Yugioh VRAINS, nor its characters and cards. All I own are the OCs and custom cards I use, unless I specify otherwise. I must also give thanks to DivadX to help with the proofreading. :)

With that done, let's do some Responses to Reviews! (Wasn't initially going to respond, given it's a single review, but I will anyway so it can help me get into the habit of doing it.):

T.V. 2000: To clarify on that, that wasn't a flashback, but a nightmare. As for the other 2 questions, while I can't say anything about Crimson King and Ghidorah's past quite yet, what I can say is that Shard will officially debut very soon.

Chapter 5: The Flames of Battle

Link VRAINS, inside of a Data Storm...

Ghidorah grunted as he opened his eyes and looked around, laying on the ground.

"Where am I?" Ghidorah wondered aloud, slowly sitting up.

"We are now within the Data Storm." Crimson King replied, to which Ghidorah turned to face Crimson King, who was standing several feet away from Ghidorah.

"We're…inside the Data Storm?" Ghidorah repeated, now fully standing up to face Crimson King proper.

"That is correct." Crimson King nodded in confirmation.

"How did that happen?" Ghidorah questioned. "Normally anyone that goes inside a Data Storm is torn to shreds."

"True." Crimson King agreed. "But that only happens if the Data Storm is extremely dense. The one Revolver created, while somewhat dense, doesn't have enough density to tear our VRAINS avatars apart."

"I see." Ghidorah nodded, frowning slightly. "But that still doesn't answer my question about how we're inside the Data Storm."

"That bit of information is ultimately irrelevant." Crimson King responded dismissively. "Unless of course, you want people to see you lose on live video." At his last words, Crimson King smirks.

"What?" Ghidorah blinked. "You think I'd lose to you within the public eye?"

"Who knows?" Crimson King shrugged. "But regardless, I still intend to teach you a lesson about getting in the way of Hanoi's affairs. Just look." Ghidorah looked where Crimson King was pointing and he saw Playmaker lying on the ground, his monsters, once there, aren't.

"What happened to Playmaker's monsters?" Ghidorah asked in a slight demanding tone. "I saw them out of the corner of my eyes during an earlier bit of our conversation, and now they're not there. So what gives?"

"That'd be because of the Fire Prison Field Spell." Crimson King answered like it was obvious. "Because of it, it makes Cyberse monsters powerless. Makes it as if they…no longer exist."

Tch…! Well that sucks for Playmaker. Ghidorah thought. But given how he duels, and what I've seen from his duels thus far, Playmaker will find a way to pull through in the end.

"So with that said," Crimson King spoke again, snapping Ghidorah out of his thoughts. "are you ready for our rematch?" At Crimson King's question, Ghidorah clenched his hands lightly.

"I am." Ghidorah replied simply.

"Excellent." Crimson King grinned, spreading his arms out as he activated his duel disk. "Now come at me, Ghidorah!"

"I will!" Ghidorah retorted, also activating his duel disk.

"DUEL!"

Ghidorah: 4000 LP

Crimson King: 4000 LP

"Since you went first in our previous duel, it's only fair that I go first in this duel." Ghidorah told Crimson King.

"Humph. Be my guess." Crimson King retorted coolly.

"Here I go!" Ghidorah grinned, drawing his 5 card starting hand, to which Crimson King did the same. "I'll start with this card; The Destruction Stone of Legend and use its effect right away! By Tributing this card from my hand or field and banish the top 10 cards of my Deck. After that, I can Special Summon up to 2 Gandora monsters from my hand, Deck, GY, and/or banished zone, ignoring their Summoning Conditions. Of course, the monsters of the 2 potential monsters have to be less than or equal to the total number of banished cards by this effect." At his call and after he sent the card in his hand to the GY slot of his duel disk, a screen showed up in front of him showing him the top 10 cards of his Deck. Ghidorah grinned at what he saw, then pressed the OK button on the screen. After which, 2 other cards ejected from his Deck. "With that, I shall now Special Summon the 2 monsters of my choice. Come! Gandora Whelp and Gandora the Incarnation of Destruction!" The first monster to appear, Gandora the Incarnation of Destruction, bore its black dragonic scales with similar red spots all over its body. But unlike his companion on the field, he wanted to bring nothing but destruction to the enemy lying before him. The second to appear and next to the first, Gandora Whelp, a smaller version of Gandora the Dragon of Destruction.

Gandora the Incarnation of Destruction, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon, Level 6, ATK/DEF: 0

Gandora Whelp, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon, Level 4, ATK/DEF: 0

"Both monsters gain ATK/DEF equal to the number of cards that are banished and/or in the GY. Well, Gandora Whelp does, but that's besides the point." Ghidorah explained as both of his monsters rose to 2000 and 1100 ATK/DEF respectively. (Gandora the Incarnation having the 2000 ATK/DEF while Gandora Whelp bore the 1100 ATK/DEF.) "But I'm not done yet! Since one of the cards banished was Gandora the Dragon of Banishment, I can Special Summon it from the banished zone!" A black scaled dragon with several red ray bursts spots appeared onto the field from a banishment zone portal next to Gandora Whelp. It flapped its wings as it landed on the field, roaring at Crimson King, who ultimately was unfazed by it.

Gandora the Dragon of Banishment, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon, Level 8, ATK/DEF: 0

"And because I Summoned him, my other 2 monsters lost some of their ATK/DEF." Ghidorah continued. "But while they may lose ATK/DEF, Gandora the Dragon of Banishment will gain quite a few of its own! 300 ATK/DEF per banished card, that is!" All 3 monsters glowed in a red and blue auras as their ATK/DEF increased and decreased respectively.

Gandora the Dragon of Banishment's ATK/DEF: 0 + (9 x 300) = 2700

Gandora the Incarnation of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 0 + (200 x 10) - 200 = 1800

Gandora Whelp's ATK/DEF: 0 (100 x 11) - 100 = 1000

"Humph." Crimson King grunted. "I see you can Summon out your monsters quickly. But that is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things."

"Oh yeah?" Ghidorah retorted. "We'll see about that." He then raised his right arm upwards as a dark blue circuit appeared above his field. "Appear, the circuit of destruction! Arrowheads confirmed! The Summoning Condition is 1 DARK Dragon monster. I set Gandora the Incarnation of Destruction into the Link Markers! Link Summon! Appear, Link -1! Gandora the Dragon of Ruination!" Flying out of the Link Circuit and onto the Left Extra Monster Zone is a black and brown scaled dragon, clearly covered in soot and dirt from all the battles its been in. It's even hunched forward a bit by its back as a result.

Gandora the Dragon of Ruination, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon/Link, Link Rating: 1, Link Arrow(s): B. ATK: 0

"Appear for a second time, the circuit of destruction!" Ghidorah continued. "Arrowheads confirmed! The Summoning Condition is 2 DARK monsters. I set Gandora Whelp and Gandora the Dragon of Banishment into the Link Markers! Link Summon! Appear, Link -2! Gandora the Vritra of Extermination!" Flying out of the Link Circuit and into the Monster Zone that Gandora the Dragon of Ruination points to is a black scaled dragon with black wings, yellowish-gold eyes, a tan scaled underbelly, with the emblem of Gandora on its chest.

Gandora the Vritra of Extermination, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon/Link, Link Rating: 2, Link Arrow(s): T/R. ATK: 1800

"I now activate Gandora the Vritra of Extermination's effect." Ghidorah spoke. "Upon this card's Special Summon, I can discard 1 card from my hand to activate 1 of its 2 effects. In this case since I'm going first, I'll use its 2nd effect. Which allows me to Special Summon 1 Gandora monster from my Deck, GY, or banished zone, ignoring its Summoning Conditions at the cost of discarding 1 card from my hand." He looks at the 4 cards in his hand, then discarded 1. "So for this, I'll choose my Deck." At his call, a card ejected out of his Deck, which he grabbed with his right hand's index and middle fingers. "So I'll Special Summon this! Come out, Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction!" Now appearing on his field is a monster that appeared to be the original Gandora the Dragon of Destruction. Of course, the way to tell the difference is that the scales coloring on said dragon was shaded slightly differently.

Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon, Level 8, ATK/DEF: 0

"And like my other monsters that have a similar effect, this one gains ATK/DEF equal to the number of banished cards x300." Ghidorah explained. "Because there's 9 total cards banished, he gains 2700 ATK/DEF!" Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction roared as it's surrounded by a red aura.

Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 0 (300 x 9) = 2700
"But before I go for another Link Summon, I activate the effect of Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction's effect." Ghidorah grinned. "You see, I can pay 1000 LP during either of our turns to banish 1 card from the field or either players hand. Naturally I'd prefer to keep my cards where they are. And since you don't possess any cards on the field yet…" He pointed his right hand's index finger at Crimson King. "I'll banish a card from your hand!"

Ghidorah's LP: 4000 - 1000 = 3000

Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 0 + (300 x 10) = 3000

"What?" Crimson King frowned deeply. "So, going after my hand, I see. Clever." His frown soon turned into a small smirk as a card vanished from his starting hand at random. "But also pointless."

"We'll see about that, won't we?" Ghidorah retorted confidently, causing Crimson King to tsk. "Now then…" He raised his right arm up once again; thus the dark blue circuit appeared once more. "Appear for a third time, the circuit of destruction!" Ghidorah continued. "Arrowheads confirmed! The Summoning Condition is at least 2 Gandora monsters. I set the Link -1 Gandora the Dragon of Ruination and the Link -2 Gandora the Vritra of Extermination into the Link Markers. Link Summon! Appear, Link -3! Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation!" Emerging from the circuit and flying down to be in the right Extra Monster Zone is a dark red and black scaled dragon. Like with most of the Gandora monsters, this dragon bore red spots all along its body. However, unlike the others, this Gandora monster's red orbs all over its body were pulsating.

Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon/Link, Link Rating: 3, Link Arrow(s): BL/B/BR. ATK: 2800

"So there's one of your go-to Link -3 monsters…" Crimson King mused.

"That's right." Ghidorah remarked. "And Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation shall be the one to defeat you soon enough. But first, he gains 400 ATK for each banished card. I count 10, so he gains 4000 ATK."

Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation's ATK: 2800 + 4000 = 6800

"Oh also, the effect of my Gandora the Dragon of Ruination activates." Ghidorah grinned. "See, whenever it's sent to the GY for the Link Summon of a DARK Dragon Link monster, you take damage equal to the Summoned monster's Link Rating x200."

Tch…! He's off to a fast start, it seems. Crimson King thought as Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation fired 3 separate beams of energy from its eyes at him; thus his avatar fizzled blue upon taking the damage.

Crimson King's LP: 4000 - 600 = 3400

"Normally I'd go for destroying and banishing cards on the field for every 400 points of damage you took, but since I'm the only one with cards, there'd be no point." Ghidorah explained before setting 2 cards from his hand into his duel disk's Spell/Trap Zone slots. "Finally, I set 2 cards and end my turn. It's your turn now, so let's see what you can do. Though I don't believe it'll be much, given you won't have a full starting hand."

Ghidorah's hand: 1 card

Crimson King's hand: 4 cards

"Heh. If you think that hindering my starting hand will dissuade me from dueling, you'd be dead wrong." Crimson King refuted coolly, placing his right hand near the slot on his duel disk where cards from the top of his deck would spit out from. "My turn, I draw!"

"Hold up!" Ghidorah interrupted Crimson King's turn. "I activate Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction's effect again! I pay 1000 LP to banish another card from your hand!"

"You…!" Crimson King seethed quietly, watching another one of his cards from his hand get banished. Ghidorah grunted as his avatar fizzled blue as his LP dropped again.

Ghidorah's LP: 3000 - 1000 = 2000

Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 3000 + 300 = 3300

Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation's ATK: 6800 + 400 = 7200

"Weakening my hand size will do you no good." Crimson King told Ghidorah. "And you're about to find that out the hard way. Since I control no monsters, I can Special Summon Crimson Resonator from my hand!" Materializing onto Crimson King's field is a small fiend holding what looked like a hot red lollipop in its left hand. Its color scheme and appearance looking an awful like a certain Level 8 DARK Dragon Synchro monster.

Crimson Resonator, attribute: DARK, type: Fiend/Tuner, Level 2, ATK/DEF: 800/300

Crimson Resonator? Ghidorah thought. Wait, that monster looks like…! His thought trailed off as he watched Crimson King make his next move.

"Next I'll Special Summon Wandering King Wildwind since I have a Tuner monster on my field." Crimson King continued. A beastial fiend monster materialized onto the field wearing a green cape of sorts.

Wandering King Wildwind, attribute: DARK, type: Fiend, Level 4, ATK/DEF: 1700/1300

"I think you know what's coming next, yes?" Crimson King asked, a grin on his face.

"Yes, a Synchro Summon." Ghidorah deduced. "And based on the Levels of your Tuner and non-Tuner, a Level 6 Synchro monster is coming." Crimson King nodded, raising his right arm up.

"Correct. I tune the Level 2 Red Resonator with the Level 4 Wandering King Wildwind!" On both Ghidorah and Crimson King's duel disks, it showed 2 plus 4 equals 6 as both Crimson King's monsters turned into materialized data. After which, he began to chant. "Become the spark to unleash the massive destruction from Inferno! Synchro Summon! Rise up, Level 6! Red Rising Dragon!" Materializing onto Crimson King's side of the field is a dragon bearing crimson flames all over its body.

Red Rising Dragon, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon/Synchro, Level 6, ATK/DEF: 2100/1600

"Red Rising Dragon's effect!" Crimson King continued. "Upon being Summoned, I shall revive Crimson Resonator from my GY!" Red Rising Dragon glowed a bright red hue, roaring as it dug its right claw into the ground and pulled Crimson Resonator of the GY portal that appeared beneath the surface.

Crimson Resonator, attribute: DARK, type: Fiend/Tuner, Level 2, ATK/DEF: 800/300

He has his Tuner monster back. Ghidorah thought. Now he'll go for Hot Red Dragon Archfiend like last t-

"You're thinking that I'll immediately go into Hot Red Dragon Archfiend from here, right?" Crimson King questioned, as if reading Ghidorah's thoughts. "Well I hate to break it to you, but that's not my next move."

-time. Wait what? Ghidorah thought, surprised by Crimson King's words.

"See, I have more moves than that." Crimson King continued to elaborate. "I now activate Crimson Resonator's effect! Once per turn, if I control it and only 1 DARK Dragon Synchro monster, I can Special Summon up to 2 Resonator monsters from my hand or Deck, except itself." 2 cards ejected out of his Deck, which he grabbed. "So for the 2 Resonators, I'll choose these 2. Come, Red Resonator and Synkron Resonator!" The first is a flaming fiend with red eyes, 2 antennas sticking out of its head, a symbol colored red on its chest area, while also holding a small gong and 2 pronged gold metallic item in its 2 hands. It let out a light laughter as it appeared onto the field. The second is a small fiend monster wearing fancy-like clothing, while bearing green and yellow colored headpieces. And like with Red Resonator, Synkron Resonator held a small gong and 2 pronged gold metallic item in its 2 hands.

Red Resonator, attribute: FIRE, type: Fiend/Tuner, Level 2, ATK/DEF: 600/200

Synkron Resonator, attribute: DARK, type: Fiend/Tuner, Level 1, ATK/DEF: 100

"2 Tuner monsters." Ghidorah noted before he gaped. "Wait! Since you Special Summon Red Resonator, you'll-!"

"So you figured it out!" Crimson King interjected, a wide grin on his face. "Since Red Resonator was Special Summoned onto the field, I can target 1 monster on the field, then I'll gain LP equal to that targeted monster's ATK points! Naturally I'll target your Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation!" Crimson King glowed green, as did Red Resonator as Crimson King's LP rose by 7200.

Crimson King's LP: 3400 + 7200 = 10,600

Dammit! Ghidorah thought, frustrated. Now he has almost 3 times the amount of LP he started with!

"With that out of the way, I shall now tune my Level Red Resonator with my Level 6 Red Rising Dragon!" Crimson King continued, a grin on his face. His 2 monsters turned into data and a 2 and 6 appeared on both players' duel disks before turning into an 8. After which, Crimson King began to chant again. "No matter in the realms of heaven and earth no one still stands in the way of total destruction of your hellish inferno! Burn them all down! Synchro Summon! Manifest, Level 8! Hot Red Dragon Archfiend!" Materializing onto the open Extra Monster Zone of the field is a dragon with devil horns on its head, while also bearing a dark red and black color scheme all over its body. The dragon clenched its claws into fists, which seared with red hot flames as it roared.

Hot Red Dragon Archfiend, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon/Synchro, Level 8, ATK/DEF: 3000/2000

"Hot Red Dragon Archfiend." Ghidorah mused. "So, what? Going to use its effect again, then attack directly to finish me off?"

"You'll see." Crimson King pulled a card from his hand, but didn't play it quite yet. Instead, he thrusted his right hand forward. "Battle! Hot Red Dragon Archfiend, attack Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation! Scarlet Force!" Hot Red Archfiend roared as it charged up a fiery scarlet flare from within its mouth.

What? He does realize that Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation is more powerful than his monster, right? Ghidorah thought.

"Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation, counterattack!" Ghidorah ordered. At his command, his Link -3 did so and fired its own attack that collided and crashed into Hot Red Dragon Archfiend's attack. As the 2 attacks continued to collide and press more against each other, light sparked from the attacks. Despite this, Crimson King merely chuckled.

"Heh heh heh. I knew that you'd let your monster counterattack." Crimson King told Ghidorah. "Then again, it is the natural move, given from your point of view, I made a mistake, a miscalculation. But I can assure you that I made no such blunder."

"Oh really?" Ghidorah raised an eyebrow, watching his monster's attack pushing Crimson King's Hot Red Dragon Archfiend's ATK back in on itself.

"Yes." Crimson King retorted, taking the card he pulled from his hand and inserted into his duel disk. "Thanks to this. I activate the Quick-Play Spell card from my hand, Scarlet Flare! Thanks to this card, I can negate the effects of face-up monsters up to the number of DARK monsters I control. Since I control 2, I negate the effects of Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation and Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction! Oh and one last thing. Since I control a Level 8 or higher DARK Dragon Synchro monster, you cannot activate cards or effects in response to this card's activation!"

"No!" Ghidorah watched helplessly as his 2 monsters roared, struggling to escape the powerful flares from Crimson King's Spell card, but to no avail. As such, they grey out and their ATK/DEF return to 2800 and 0 respectively.

"Now Hot Red Dragon Archfiend, destroy Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation!" Crimson King grinned. His dragon obeyed and destroyed the Link -3 monster. Ghidorah grunted as his avatar fizzled blue from taking the minimal damage.

Ghidorah's LP: 2000 - 200 = 1800

"Since I destroyed your monster in battle, I can draw 1 card thanks to Scarlet Flare's effect." Crimson King explained as he drew 1 card from his Deck. Afterwards, he thrusted his right hand forward. "Now, time to-!"

"Hold up!" I activate Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation's effect!" Ghidorah interjected. "Since you made it leave the field, I can Special Summon 1 Gandora monster from my hand, Deck, GY, or banished zone, ignoring its Summoning Conditions!" A ghostly version of Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation appeared behind Ghidorah, ready to bring forth a new monster to help him. Except that…

"Fool! Did you think I'd let you try a similar tactic from our last duel?" Crimson King scoffed, pulling a card from his hand. "As if! I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Called by the Grave! This banishes your Link -3 and negates its effect!"

"What?!" Ghidorah gaped in shock, watching the ghostly version of his Link -3 vanish from the field.

"Heh. With that out of the way, I activate a Trap card from my hand, Hot Red Flash!" Crimson King grinned. The card's art depicted Red Dragon Archfiend roaring and unleashing a powerful wave of hot red fire from its mouth. "Since I destroyed your monster in battle, you take damage equal to its ATK +1000! As for how I can activate this card from my hand, it's because I possess a Level 8 or higher DARK Dragon Synchro monster." Crimson King's Trap card glowed a bright red before firing a beam of energy right at Ghidorah, which ironically had a ghostly image of Gandora the Dragon of Annihilation combined within it.

"Hold on! I activate one of my Set cards, the Quick-Play Spell, Destruction Dragon's Restoration!" Ghidorah revealed. The card's art depicted a few Gandora monsters being purified by a source of light and energy. "I now gain 300 LP for each banished card! I count 12, so I gain 3600 LP!"

"Humph! You're still taking more damage than what you're gaining as LP!" Crimson King told his fellow dragon opponent. Ghidorah's avatar glowed a gold color as he gained LP via his own card's effect, only for him to be blasted by the effect of Crimson King's Trap card and to slide backwards several feet as a result.

Ghidorah's LP: 1800 + 3600 - 3800 = 1600

"Now Crimson Resonator, Synkron Resonator, attack and destroy Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction, followed by another direct attack!" Crimson King ordered his 2 monsters. Both Resonator Tuner monsters obeyed, Crimson Resonator destroying the monster, while Synkron Resonator attacked Ghidorah directly. Ghidorah groaned in pain after taking the last 2 attacks.

Ghidorah's LP: 1600 - 900 = 700

What is this…? Ghidorah thought, he felt himself shivering. Am I….Am I afraid….? He shook his head. No! I'm NOT afraid of this guy! He soon recomposed himself and stood up on his feet. Luckily for him, Crimson King didn't comment on Ghidorah's initial body shaking. Instead, he decided to draw another card from his Deck.

"I enter my Main Phase 2. After that, I'll set the last 2 cards in my hand and end my turn." Crimson King concluded.

Ghidorah's hand: 1 card

Crimson King's hand: 0 cards

"It's your turn now, so go on and make it." Crimson King told Ghidorah coolly.

"Before I do that, I activate my other Set card, the Continuous Trap, Destruction Soul!" Ghidorah declared. The face-down card on Ghidorah's field flipped face up and revealed itself. The card's art showed Gandora the Dragon of Destruction encased within a stone tablet. "Once per turn, I activate 1 of its 3 effects. I choose effect 1, allowing me to Special Summon 1 Gandora monster from my hand, GY, or banished zone." He pulled a card from his GY. "So appear again, Link -2! Gandora the Vritra of Extermination!" At his call, the dragon re-emerged from the GY and onto his field.

Gandora the Vritra of Extermination, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon/Link, Link Rating: 2, Link Arrow(s): T/R. ATK: 1800

"With that out of the way, I'll officially take my turn." Ghidorah spoke coolly, placing his right hand on top of his Deck and drawing. "I draw!" After drawing, he immediately grabbed one of the cards from his hand.

"Now then, I activate the Quick-Play Spell Gandora's Call!" Ghidorah announced, pressing a button on his duel disk to allow the spoken card to flip up and materialize itself onto the field. The card's art depicted Gandora the Dragon of Destruction roaring; thus calling in more allies given the background art on the card. "At the cost of 500 LP per monster, I can Special Summon any monster from my GY and/or banished zone!"

"So be it." Crimson King remarked, unfazed by this development. "But know that because you possess less than 1100 LP, you can only revive 1 monster."

"I am aware of that." Ghidorah answered, pulling a card from his GY. "So I choose this! Return to the field, Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction!" The chosen monster rose out of the GY Portal and roared as it not only regained its ATK/DEF, but Ghidorah winced as his LP fell once more.

Gandora Alternative Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 0 + (300 x 12) = 3600

Ghidorah's LP: 700 - 500 = 200

Strange… Why would he lower his LP to do that? Crimson King thought before he smirked to himself. Interesting! Let's see what you have in store, Ghidorah!

"Next I activate the Normal Spell card, Call of Destruction!" The card's art depicted Gandora the Dragon of Destruction rallying up its brethren to stand and fight, several of the dark and red scaled dragons seemed to be roaring in approval of the call to arms. "With this card, I can add up to 3 cards from my Deck, GY, and/or banished zone to my hand, so long as they're of different card types. For this, I'll be grabbing 2." At his call, 2 cards ejected out of his Deck, which he added to his hand.

"I now activate the effect of The Destruction Stone of Legend from my GY." Ghidorah continued. "By returning Gandora Whelp from my GY to the bottom of my Deck, I add this card from my GY to my hand. This return effect can also work if my Stone is in the banished zone."

"Humph. So I see." Crimson King noted. "Proceed."

"I will do so." Ghidorah retorted. "Now! By sending 3 other monsters from my hand and/or field to the GY, I can Special Summon this!" Ghidorah took 4 cards from his hand, 3 of which he sent into the GY slot of his duel disk before raising his right arm above his head, still holding the 4th card in his right hand. "Manifest now and desecrate my enemies! Level 12! Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction!" Manifesting onto Ghidorah's side of the field is a massive black and red scaled dragon. All over its body are several red orbs that pulsate with energy. Once it fully materializes, the dragon lets out a loud roar.

Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon, Level 12, ATK/DEF: ?

"Unknown ATK/DEF?" Crimson King questioned.

"Oh, it has ATK/DEF, I can assure you." Ghidorah explained. "See, its ATK/DEF is equal to the difference in our LP. Right now the difference is 10,400. So its ATK/DEF is 10,400!" At the sight of the dragon increasing in size and by its ATK/DEF, Crimson King is taken aback, even steps back in surprise.

Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 0 + 10,400 = 10,400

"It has almost the same ATK/DEF as my LP…!" Crimson King breathed, for the first time since their second duel started, the Red Dragon Archfiend duelist was surprised. Taking the opportunity, Ghidorah thrusted his right hand forward.

"I now activate Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's effect. By paying half my LP, I can destroy as many monsters on the field as possible whose ATK/DEF is less than or equal to this card's." Ghidorah explained. "Afterwards, I can banish cards from our hands and/or GYs up to the number of monsters destroyed by this effect. So with that, say goodbye to your 2 Tuners and your Level 8 Synchro monster!" With that, all of Crimson King's monsters on the field perished by several energy beams being blasted in all directions thanks to Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction, but those same monsters were immediately banished.

"Damn you Ghidorah…!" Crimson King seethed.

Ghidorah's LP: 200/2 = 100

Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 10,400 + 100 = 10,500

"I now play the final card in my hand, the Continuous Spell, Banishment Territory!" Ghidorah grinned. The card depicted several holes leading to other dimensions, and the Gandora monsters were blasting its destructive rays into their opponents; thus blasting them into these holes, a couple of said holes were closing as a result. "With this card, I can, once during each of our turns, banish up to 2 Gandora monsters from my hand, field, Deck, and/or GY, then all monsters on my field gain ATK/DEF equal to their total Level/Rank/Linking Rating x200 until the end of the turn!"

"What?!"

"I choose to banish the original Gandora the Dragon of Destruction and Gandora-X the Dragon of Demolition from my Deck!" Ghidorah smirked as he took the 2 chosen cards from his Deck and banished them. "Now my Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction gains 3200 extra ATK/DEF until the end of turn!" Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction roared once again as its ATK/DEF rose once more.

Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 10,500 + 3200 13,700

"13,700 ATK points…?!" Crimson King gaped. "I….I can't survive that!"

"Hell yeah you can't!" Ghidorah agreed. "Battle! Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction, attack Crimson King directly and end this duel!" Once again, several energy beams spout out of the red bulges on Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's body and towards Crimson King. Crimson King's mouth fell agape and he let out a surprised scream before the beams overtook him; thus causing an explosion on his side of the field.

"It's over." Ghidorah spoke. "I-" Before he could finish his sentence, his mouth fell open in shock as he saw Crimson King still standing through the smoke. "Impossible! How did you survive that attack?!"

"Heh. I activated 1 of my Set cards." Crimson King retorted nonchalantly. "In this case, the Trap card, Synchro Traversion!" Upon playing the card, the card materializes onto Crimson King's field. The Trap card's art depicted 2 monsters escaping a dimensional vortex and returning to the field of play. As for the 2 monsters on the card's artwork, Junk Synchron and Junk Warrior.

"Synchro Traversion?" Ghidorah repeated, checking the card, to which his eyes widened. "Oh no!"

I didn't count on him having a card like this! Ghidorah thought.

"Oh yes!" Crimson King grinned. "Thanks to this card, not only is your Battle Phase over, but I can also Special Summon 2 monsters from my banished zone, so long as both monsters are a Tuner and a Synchro monster. So return to the field, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend and Synkron Resonator!" A dimensional rift appeared above the field and both the called monsters flew back onto the field.

"Ugh…" Ghidorah groaned. "I…I end my turn. Meaning my Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's ATK returns to normal…"

Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 13,700 - 3200 = 10,500

Ghidorah's hand: 0 cards

Crimson King's hand: 0 cards

"My turn, I draw!" Crimson King drew for his turn. After he draws, looks up at Ghidorah, who merely stared back at him.

He looks to be in disbelief. Crimson King thought before smirking. Oh well.

"Now! I tune my Level 1 Synkron Resonator with my Level 8 Hot Red Dragon Archfiend!" Crimson King grinned as the green pillar of light appeared once again and accepted the 2 monsters.

"Wh-What? Another Synchro Summon?!" Ghidorah gaped, taking a step backwards in surprise.

"That is correct!" Crimson King smirked in amusement. "Did you think that Hot Red Dragon Archfiend was my only powerful Synchro monster? If so, you thought wrong!" The Levels of the 2 monsters of 8 and 1 on their duel disks soon turned into a 9, after which Crimson King began to chant. "Oh Demon King of the Abyss unleash your destructive rage across all who stand in your wake! Synchro Summon! Rise up, Level 9! Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss!" Out of the green pillar of light flew forward and out of the green pillar of light is a dragon that looked like it drenched itself in one of the rivers of Hell before flying back out of it. The darkened red and black scales of the abyssal dragon glistened as the dragon let out a roar. Ghidorah covered his face with his arms as a shockwave from the dragon's roar hit him. Meanwhile, Crimson King smiled and chuckled.

Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss, attribute: DARK, type: Dragon/Synchro, Level 9, ATK/DEF: 3200/2500

"A Level 9 Synchro monster…" Ghidorah breathed, taking in its appearance. "Level 9 and 11 monsters in general are a rarity."

"Well, Level 11s to be more specific." Crimson King clarified. "For example, the Generaider Boss archetype exists, and they primarily consist of Level 9 monsters." He shrugged. "But enough about that topic. It's time to end this! Battle! Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss attacks Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction!"

How is he going to do that with a monster weaker than my Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction? Ghidorah thought, frowning. Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss charged up its hellfire attack in its mouth, while Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction also charged up its attack before firing it to collide with Hot Red Dragon Archfiend's own attack.

"Wait!" Crimson King snapped his fingers; thus stopping the attacks of both monsters. Confused by the notion, Ghidorah raised an eyebrow.

"What's the big idea, Crimson King?" Ghidorah demanded. The Red Dragon Archfiend duelist turned his attention to face Ghidorah. Instead of his usual grin, his facial expression bore disappointment, much to Ghidorah's surprise.

"You know, I'm disappointed in you Ghidorah." Crimson King scoffed, crossing his arms. "I saw bits and pieces of your previous duels. As such, I was under the impression that you are a very strong duelist." He shrugged. "But it seems that my impressions of you were nothing but disappointment. The only thing you did differently from our last duel was inflict me a measly 600 points of damage. While that is an improvement, it's not enough to defeat someone of my caliber." While Crimson King continued to speak, Ghidorah's body began to shake again. "In short, my entire spheal is me saying this: You aren't weak. I'm just that much stronger than you." Ghidorah opened his mouth to rebuttal, but no words came out. With that, Crimson King snapped his right hand's fingers and the attacks proceeded. But first…

"I activate Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss's effect!" Crimson King revealed. "Once per turn, I can target 1 face-up card on the field and negate its effects! For this, I target your Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction!"

No! Even if I use my Banishment Territory's effect to increase its ATK/DEF now, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend's effect will resolve last, meaning it'll still have 0 ATK/DEF at the end anyway! Ghidorah thought. And there's no telling what else Crimson King has Set or in his hand! With his mind racing, Ghidorah watches helplessly as Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF fell, as well as it greying out.

Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's ATK/DEF: 10,500 - 10,500 = 0

After its ATK/DEF fell to 0, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss's attack pressed forward, making Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction's attack slam back into itself, to which it soon exploded and sent Ghidorah flying backwards before he landed on the ground, backfirst.

Ghidorah's LP: 100 - 3200 = 0

WINNER: Crimson King

Crimson King deactivated his duel disk and strode towards his fallen opponent.

"Urk…!" Ghidorah groaned, trying to get up but found it a little difficult to do so.

"Pathetic." Crimson King spat out as he looked down at Ghidorah. "I was hoping that I would have received some form of a challenge, given how much of a pain you have been up to this point, at least according to the reports I've read on you." He crossed his arms and shook his head in disappointment, a deep scowl on his face. "But I was wrong. How utterly disappointing." An explosion could be heard from the level below, to which Crimson King looked down to see Revolver being flown backwards and into the wall. "It seems that Playmaker has defeated Revolver with a new monster." He soon turned his attention back to Ghidorah, who was now standing on his feet.

"That's good." Ghidorah noted. He stepped back in surprise as he saw Crimson King point his right index finger at him.

"Consider this your one and only warning." Crimson King warned the Gandora Duelist coldly as he began to slowly dissipate into particles of data, signifying his withdrawal. "If you step out of the fight now, you will be spared any further pain and anguish. Refusal to do so, and I'll show you no mercy the next time we meet." With his final words, his avatar fully dissipated into particles. Ghidorah opened his mouth to say something, but Crimson King was already gone. Sighing, he went over to the edge of the level he and Crimson King dueled at to see Playmaker also leaving.

So it's as Crimson King said. Playmaker did defeat Revolver. Ghidorah thought. That means that Blue Angel is all fine. That's good. He then frowns. Though I'm not looking forward to reporting this… Ghidorah groaned in defeat before pressing a button on his duel disk and logging out of VRAINS.

Within an undisclosed sever location in Link VRAINS...

Within the Hanoi server, Revolver stood with several screens in front of him. He scrolled between them, nodding at Crimson King and Ghidorah's duel. While he remained in his thoughts, he saw a flash of light appear from the corner of his eye.

"Hmm?" Revolver mused, turning to face Kiyoshi. "Ah, Father."

"Do you know who Playmaker is?" Kiyoshi asked plainly. Revolver thought the question over. Of course he knew, but he saw no reason to tell his Father. At least not yet.

"No, I haven't." Revolver replied.

"Well regardless, we shouldn't worry about that right now." Kiyoshi told his son. "For now we should focus on finalizing the other needs."

"Master Revolver, Dr. Kogami." Both Kiyoshi and Revolver turn to see Crimson King enter the room within the server.

"Welcome back Crimson King." Revolver greeted his fellow Knight of Hanoi. "How did your end go?"

"I've defeated Ghidorah." Crimson King told his leader.

"Excellent work Crimson King." Kiyoshi acknowledged. "Too bad you couldn't learn his identity in the real world."

"It's fine." Revolver told his Father. "I may have lost to Playmaker, but it's not all bad."

"Blue Angel was just a means to test something for a grander scale, yes?" Crimson King asked.

"Correct." Kiyoshi confirmed. "What she was infected with was just a prototype virus called the Another Virus."

"The Another Virus?" Crimson King repeated. "Is that what was inside that Dark Angel card?"

"The prototype of it was, yes." Revolver confirmed. "Naturally the point of giving it to Blue Angel, outside of drawing our enemies like Playmaker and Ghidorah out, is to see how well it worked." He grinned. "And it worked fantastically. Now all that's left is to get the materials necessary to mass produce it."

"Do we have such materials?" Crimson King asked.

"Not yet, no." Kiyoshi shook his head. "In fact, we are looking over several companies within Japan that possess the components for what we're looking for in order to fully create the Another Virus."

"I see." Crimson King noted. "That's good."

"It's a work in progress, but we're getting there." Revolver remarked. "Alas, how were things on your end? I only saw glimpses of your Speed Duel against Ghidorah."

"Ah yes, of course." Crimson King nodded. "I came here to report on that anyway."

"Hoh?" Revolver wondered aloud. "And how did it go?"

"Our first duel ended in a DRAW." Crimson King retorted. "Though it appeared to be Ghidorah's aim from the start."

"I see." Revolver mused, pulling up video footage of Ghidorah and Crimson King's first duel. After which, he turned it off and turned his attention back to Crimson King. "And your second duel? I couldn't see it due to dueling Playmaker. The only thing I know for certain is that the 2 of you ended up in the Data Storm I created earlier."

"I can answer that." Kiyoshi spoke up, getting the 2's attention.

"Father?" Revolver asked. "What do you mean?"

"In short, I saw Ghidorah and Crimson King's second duel." Kiyoshi answered, to which he gave a frown to the Red Dragon Archfiend duelist. "I am disappointed that you didn't permanently finish Ghidorah off after you defeated him, however."

"Be disappointed all you want, Dr. Kogami." Crimson King retorted dismissively. "But I have my reasons for letting him go with a warning. Now that he's seen my power, there is the chance that he will take my warning to heart and leave us alone."

"And if he doesn't?" Dr. Kogami pressed.

"Then I'll eliminate him for good. Simple as that." Crimson King remarked coolly.

"Good. Very good." Dr. Kogami nodded in approval to Crimson King's response.

Real World, at the Sagittarius Residence...

After stepping out of the Link VRAINS login tube within the office of his house, Draco went over to a chair and slumped in it. Lissa, turning her attention to her son.

"Draco?" She asked him. "Are you okay?"

"No, not really." Draco murmured. Lissa frowned, getting up from her chair to kneel down in front of him.

"You can talk to me Draco." His Mother told him gently. Draco looked up at his Mother, his expression somewhat blank and also somewhat unreadable. But his Mother was able to read it clear as day.

"...I lost to Crimson King." Draco spoke softly. "Couldn't even damage his Life Points in either of our duels." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "As such, I'm not looking forward to the upcoming meeting and reporting." He paused, then added in a defeated tone. "Crimson King also gave me a warning to not get in the Knight of Hanoi's way again if I value my life." Lissa frowned, gently patting her son's shoulder.

"It'll be okay Draco." Lissa told her son in a reassuring manner as the calling sound on her computer blipped. As said blipping continued, Lissa turned and went back to sitting in her computer chair and answered the call. "Hello?"

"Heh, hey there Lissa." Rodin's voice answered before his face soon appeared on the screen. "So, I take it that you know why I'm calling, yes?"

"I do." Draco replied. "I take it that the client that requested the job isn't too happy?"

"Heh, right you are." Rodin chuckled somewhat grimly.

"I figured as much…" Draco sighed. "I expect to not get paid, right?"

"Oh no, you're still getting paid." Rodin told him. "And while the client initially intended to cut the pay by 10%, I convinced them to reduce the cut to 5%. As for the reason why, it's because you completed part of the goal: Finding out who the leader of the Knights of Hanoi is; that being Revolver. Since you did that, you are getting paid with that 5% cut."

"Even still…" Draco murmured. "I ultimately failed the mission."

"No, you didn't." Rodin told Draco firmly. "Sometimes you learn more from losing than from winning, boy."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Draco asked, a look of confusion on his face.

"You gain more knowledge ultimately through losing duels than winning them." Lissa told Draco, a light smile on her face. "On top of that, losing also helps with making you want to become stronger." She laughed lightly. "I know I, and I'd imagine Rodin, can attest to that little detail." Rodin chuckled in regards to Lissa's words. At his Mother's words, Draco nodded, giving her a light smile in thanks.

"It's true." Rodin agreed. "As such, I don't doubt that you'll be able to do better the next time you face Crimson King."

"Heh. Thanks Rodin. Thanks Mom." Draco smiled lightly.

After the call with Rodin, Draco had dinner with his Mother. Afterwards, he then went to bed. Once he got onto his bed, he looked up at the ceiling.

Mom and Rodin are right. Draco thought. I may have lost to Crimson King this time, but next time will be different! He chuckled to himself. While most would take Crimson King's warning seriously and to heart, and while I will as well, I simply can't ignore the Knights of Hanoi either. If they are ignored, who knows what other damages they may cause? To that end, they must be stopped. And I will help in achieving that. This, I swear upon!

Chapter Preview: Next time on Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS: Road of Fate, Chapter 6: Angel Reclaims Her Wings. Lamenting at her defeat to Playmaker, Blue Angel, now gone from the Link VRAINS's eyes for a time, is at a loss on what to do, nor how to proceed. Feeling trapped by her brother's overprotective nature, Katsumi reaches out to Aoi to help her out. Meanwhile, Ghidorah and Shard are given an assignment pertaining to the tricky treasure hunter in Ghost Girl...

Author's Notes: And Chapter 5 is done! So to start in recapping, we get Ghidorah and Crimson King doing some small talk before immediately starting their second duel, under the format of a Master Duel. Ghidorah goes first, and while he shaves off half of his own LP, he does it with the purpose of weakening Crimson King and lessening his options. As Ghidorah quickly finds out, it would be so easy. This is proven right when Crimson King bounces back and brings out Hot Red Dragon Archfiend. His go-to monster would have been enough to end the duel right there and then thanks to it and a combination of Spell/Traps from Crimson King, but Ghidorah had a means to survive the turn, albeit barely. On his next turn, he goes for a powerful monster in an effort to wipe out all of Crimson King's LP thanks to Gandora Life Dragon of Destruction in conjunction with its effect. But even this is thwarted by a simple Trap Crimson King plays known as Synchro Traversion (Think Reject Reborn, but for the banished zone.). Disheartened, Ghidorah reluctantly ends his turn. On the next turn, Crimson King brings out a new Synchro monster, Hot Red Dragon Abyss, and uses it to finish Ghidorah off.

After the duel, Draco returns to the real world in his home and is even more disheartened, lamenting his failure to defeat Crimson King. His contractor in Rodin and his Mother comfort him and tell him that it's okay to lose. In fact, you learn more from losing than winning. Using their words as motivation, and gathering what he learned from his first 2 duels against Crimson King, he will aim to formulate a plan to defeat Crimson King.

So with that said, here's the question: What did you like about the chapter? What didn't you like about it?
