Guest: He indeed does have that reason now that he has reunited with his wife in the world he'd created.
Juliasimon77: Thank you, really.
CT311998: All of that is fixed.
=Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003=
=The King, Part 3=
Even more and more monsters flooded towards the Asgard, Rainbow Bridge and the turtles, Kirby and the Warriors. And as the monsters got nearer, Donnie and Mary turned to Kirby, both of them wearing the worried looks on their faces that mixed with their determination to stop them no matter of the cost.
"Man, Kirby, don't tell me you draw all of those?" Donnie asked with the gulp.
"All, like, 10,000 of them?" Mary added.
"Yeah." Kirby admitted, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "I have a habit of drawing a lot. Not to mention improving the drawings over time."
Kirby wasn't wrong here, because, just like during the previous skirmish, none of the monster looked the same as the last one. For example: Some of the Dieskrads were redder, hunch-backed and resembled the beastial grasshoppers with the tilted horns and tusks. Some Yellow-heads were bigger and had four arms or iron helmets. Some Insectors' faces resembled more skulls and wore full-body armors. Some Clobbers had two heads instead of one. Some Bat-men had the wings in their backs instead of their arms. Some Kittynators had the yellow skin with black spots like the leopards, only with the black armors. Some Ankylodon's had more hunched postures with bigger spikes in their backs and the spiked tails instead of the clubs like the stegosauruses. Some Skrerriors's had the manes made of quills like the porcupines. Some Cyclonyses had the rhinoceros-like horns on top of their heads and the elephant-like tusks in the sides of their mouths. And finally some Goat-men were much bulkier and quadrupeds, though their hands/forelegs were more of hooves and their faces and horns the mix between the goat and bull, giving them slightly a Minotaur-like appearance.
"You and that wild imagination of yours!" the turtle in turquoise moaned.
"Did you have to be so profilic?!" Donnie asked frantically. "Couldn't you have drawn less, or some friendlier characters?"
"Or what about adding in more good guys to our side?!" Mary added.
"Heck, how was I supposed to know they'd come alive and attack us?" Kirby reasoned to his own defense.
"Prepare yourselves!" King Midaleas ordered as the monsters were getting near. "And remember, we must not let them across the Rainbrow Bridge!"
As the monsters kept on charging at them all, Donnie and Mary turned to King Midaleas and Roz and they gave each other a reassured smiles.
"CHARGE!" King Midaleas ordered, pointing one of his swords at the monsters.
"YEEEEEAAAAHHHHH!" the turtles and warriors shouted as they charged at the monsters, with only Kirby staying at the base of the Rainbow Bridge.
"LET'S TURTLEIZE THEM!" Donnie and Mary shouted from the tops of their lungs.
"NO PRISONERS!" Roz shouted while charging.
"NO MERCY!" King Midaleas finished.
The first ones in the horde, Dieskrad, Cyclonys, Insector, Skerrior, Clobber and Kittynator lunged at them, but Shieldinas punched Insector in the face, while Thrar crushed the skulls from Dieskrad and Cyclonys with his hammer, while Silverious whacked Skerrior and Clobber in the heads with his staff while Vikinga beheaded Kittynator with his axe.
The battle then started, and it was fierce.
Hornculus dodged the swing from the Clobber before he whacked it hard in the face with his club, mortally crushing the monster's face and knocking it back. He then turned around and blocked with his left club Cyclonys' spiked mace before he brought his right club down on it, knocking the weapon off the monster's hand before he elbowed the monster in the chest, knocking the beast back.
Shieldinas charged at the couple of Ankylodons, couple of Insectors, couple of Skrerrios and a couple of Yellow-heads, before he struck the first Ankylodon in the stomach, causing it to stop abruptly and causing the other seven monsters to crash into it in the row. Shieldinas kept brutally pounding on the monster with his shield, knocking it and the other seven monsters back with each attack.
Donnie was clashing with Dieskrad who tried to swing the sword at his head, but Donnie dodged the blade before he whacked the monster in the stomach and then in the head with his Bo, knocking it away. Donnie then raised his Bo up to block the attacks from two Kittynators, one in front of him and one behind his shell, as they attempted to bring their swords down on him. Donnie then spun around and whacked both Kittynators in the heads with the ends of his staff, sending one in the front ot his right and the one behind him to his left. Donnie then whacked his staff at the attacking Clobber, making it stop, before he put his staff down in the ground and swung around of it, kicking Clobber, another Dieskrad and the Cyclonys behind him away.
Mary clashed her Naginata's blade with the Insector's short sword twice before she beheaded the monster with the third swing, before she blocked the Skerrier attempt ti slice him with the sickle-weapon and kicked it in the chest, knocking the monster away. Mary then turned around to her right and swung her Naginata at a sharp angle from top to bottom, first cutting Man-bat across the face as it dived from the skies towards her before cutting the attacking Goat-man's right leg off. The turtle in turquoise then put her Naginata's blade in the ground before, with skillful hand-maneuver on her weapon, she butterfly-kicked from behind her attacking Cyclonys and Ankylodon in the faces, knocking them back, before she swung herself around her weapon before flying backwards at from the other side attacking Yellow-head and Clobber, split-kicking them in the faces.
Thrar then landed to the ground and brought his hammer down on Yellow-head's head, both crushing the monster's head and smashing it to the ground. Then he turned around and struck Ankylodon in the belly with his weapon, knocking the air out of the monster and causing it to bent in pain, before Thrar whacked it under its chin, knocking its head back - and likely crushing its lower jaw - before the monster fell flat on his back.
King Midaleas put his golden swords together, creating the double-bladed sword, with which he blocked the attacks of both Clobber's club and Cyclonys' spiked mace. King Midaleas then slashed Clobber in the leg, causing it to roar in agony as it fell onto its back, before he cut both of Cyclonys' arms off as it tried to attack him again before stabbing through of its stomach, killing the beast before kicking it away and pulling his sword's blade out. Then King Midaleas brought his weapon over his head as he turned to the downed Clobber and executed the monster by stabbing his weapon's sword-blade through of its chest.
Silverous then struck his staff into attacking Skrerrior's chest, knocking it off its feet and flat on its back to the ground, before the warrior pole-vaulted himself over the downed monster and fly-kicked the attacking Insector both in the face and chest, knocking the monster back.
Vikinga swung his axe at the Kittynator's legs, sweeping them from under and causing the monster to fly flat on his back to the ground. Vikinga then spun around and swung his axe next in the Yellow-head's chest, both killing it and knocking it over. Vikinga then dodged Dieskrad's swing at his head with the morning star, before Vikinga wrapped his arm around the monster's head and twisted it hard to the right - CRACK! After tossing Dieskrad's lifeless body aside, Vikinga dodged under Ankylodon's swing with its tail, before he brought his axe down on it, cutting the tail off. The monster roared in agony after losing its tail, before Vikinga silenced it by stricking his ae into its back!
Spikylia was wrestling with the Man-bat, who had caught a hold of her spiked maces, before she pushed the monster back and struck it in the head, crushing it. Spikylia then flipped over the Goat-man's charge at her with its horns, but she grabbed a hold of one of its horns and pulled the monster over her head after landing back on her feet to the ground and tossed it away.
Roz then stabbed her spear through of another Goat-man, mortally wounding it and knocking it flat on its back, before she swung her weapon at the attacking Man-bat to keep it at bay. And as it tried to attack her, Roz struck her weapon's blunt end right in the monster's face, knocking it back.
Mary then struck Cyclonys in the stomach over and over and over and over again with her Naginata's blunt end, knocking the monster back with each blow, before she sliced its belly open with her weapon's blade, mortally wounding it and causing it to fall over. Mary then flipped over the Clobber's attempt to swing its club at her, only for Mary to slice it across the back as she flew over its head.
Kittynator and Dieskrad attempted then to charge at Donnie, but the turtle in purple swung his Bo-staff at them and whacked both monsters away from him. Donnie then turned around and whacked Ankylodon hard in one knee, causing it to fall on one knee, before Donnie whacked it again in the head, knocking it back. The turtle in purple then raised his staff up to block Yellow-head's spiked mace, before he kicked the monster in the face, knocking it back.
As the battle raged, Kirby looked all of it happening with amazement before he then opened his sketchbook and went through the pages while looking at his drawings. Kirby then, without even looking, ducked his head down as Clobber threw its club right at him but missed.
Kirby then stopped at the drawings of both Shieldinas and Silverious as they faced Ankylodon and Yellow-head. Silverious pole-caulted himself over Ankylodon's attempt to crush him under its club-tail, landing onto its back before jumping away, with the monster giving the chase, while Shieldinas back-flipped out of the Yellow-head's punch's way, which caused the ground to explode again.
Donnie polevaulted over Clobber's swing at him and kicked Man-bat into Skerrior, knocking them both away before landing to the ground with one knee bent. Then he tripped Dieskrad and blocked Clobber's swing before sweeping its legs from under. Then he kicked Insector and Goat-man in the chest, knocking them to the ground. Donnie then dodged Dieskrad's attempt to stab him in the face with the sword, and them he duck down as the monster tried to decapitate him. After dodging another swing from Dieskrad while Kittynator charged at him with the sword. The turtle in purple, spinning his staff, spun around and whacked both monsters across their chest, knocking them back.
Mary jumped over Yellow-head's swing and landed onto Cyclonys, pinning it to the ground and stabbing her Naginata through its chest, killing it, before she spun around and spin-kicked Yellow-head, Kittynator, Ankylodon and Clobber away. She stabbed Skrerrior in the chest with her weapon's blade before stricking with its blunt end Man-bat in the stomach, knocking it down. Then she spun around and kicked from behind charging Goat-man in the face, sending it flying into Dieskrad. Mary then dodged under the war hammer wielded by Ankylodon, and then the turtle in turquoise jumped over the monster's attempt to swing its tail's club at her, before Mary roundhouse kicked it in the face.
However, one Clobber managed to sneak behind of Donnie's defenses before it caught him by surprise by whacking him hard in the shell with his club.
"AAAAHHHHHH!" Donnie cried as he impact sent him flying away.
The turtle in purple's cry in agony caught Mary's attention and she turned around, seeing what had happened to her brother.
"DONNIE! NOOOO!" Mary cried in shock.
Angered with Clobber for hurting her brother, Mary raised her Naginata up in the air and threw it at the beast. Her thrown weapon hit straight at home and punctured the monster's heart, causing it to fall over while roaring in agony.
However, after throwing her weapon away thus left her defenseless, Mary turned around, only to see Goat-man charging at him at full speed with its curled horns down. The turtle in turquoise couldn't do nothing but to take the blow in her chest, which sent her flying back.
"AAAAAHHHHH!" she cried as she flew away.
Both Donnie and Mary ended up landing in front of Kirby, with Donnie on his belly and Mary on her shell.
Groaning in pain, Donnie got up to his knees and rubbed the back of his neck, while Mary held her aching chest, panting heavily while gritting her teeth in pain.
"Don? Mary? Are you two okay?" Kirby asked worriedly.
"Well, been through the worst than this." Mary groaned between panting, rolling over onto her side.
"But we could use a little help, though." Donnie said, holding out his hand to Kirby.
Kirby helped Donnie back up to his feet, before both the turtle in purple and Kirby helped Mary back on her feet. The turtle in turquoise, however, needed the moment of break to catch her breath, for the Goat-man's ramming against her chest had been really hard blow.
However, Mary's moment of respite was short-lived when they heard growling and saw Ankylodon, Yellow-head, Clobber, Cyclonys, Dieskrad and Kittynator charged at them from one side, while from the other side charged three Goat-men, three Man-bats, along with Insector and Skrerrior.
"Seriously?! Is the respite too much to ask?!" Mary groaned in annoyance.
"There are too many of these things!" Donnie complained, before the turtle in purple jumped at the monsters to deal with them.
Mary, realizing that she was without her own weapon, looked around in search of it until she saw that it was still stuck in the chest of the Clobber she had just killed by throwing her weapon at it.
However, she also saw that the Goat-men, Man-bats, Insector and Skrerrior were approaching the dead Clobber and her Naginata fast! If only she could just get to her weapon before the monsters do, she'd deal with them in no time.
But before she went to fetch her weapon to fight the monsters, Mary turned back to Kirby.
"Hey, Kirby! You got that magic crystal-pen of yours! You familiar with the old saying "Pen is mightier than the sword"?" she asked.
"Yeah, indeed I am." Kirby said with the nod.
"Then use it! Try to come up with something that could give us at least a slightest advantage! We're kinda getting way over our heads here!" Mary said before she jumped away.
Kirby did as Mary told him and began to think a various ideas how he could give his friends and the Warriors even the slightest chance against the numerically superior enemy.
"Hmm... well, now that you mentioned it, Mary, I've got an idea." Kirby said when he finally came up with something.
Opening his sketchbook and taking his crystal-pen from behind his ear, Kirby began to draw both Mary and Donnie on two clean pages of his book.
Hornculus was meanwhile wrestling with the Dieskrad, both the warrior and the monster trying to get the upperhand over each other, until he was approached from behind by Cyclonys, who swung its war mallet down on him. Hornculus, however, ducked down and pulled Dieskrad in front of the blow, causing Cyclonys' mallet to crush the monster's skull, killing it. Hornculus then tossed the monster away, before he crossed his clubs to block Cyclonys' another strike, before he kicked it in the stomach, sending it flying away.
Shieldinas, meanwhile, was locked in the fierce wrestling match with the Clobber as the two rolled around the ground, with the warrior blocking the monster's attempts to hit him with its club while Shieldinas whacked and punched it in the face repeatedly. Kittynator then came over to him with the spear, with which it tried to stab Shieldinas in the back while he was being distracted. However, Shieldinas managed to see the beast over his shoulder, before he turned back to Clobber, whom he had pinned to the ground, and quickly slammed the sharp tip in the end of his shield into Clobber's throat. This caused the blood starting to flow out of the mortally wounded monster's mouth with the mild pressure, before Shieldinas left Clobber to choke on its own blood and turned to Kittynator, whacking it across the face with his shield, knocking it back.
Silverous was spinning his staff at the Goat-men to keep it away while the snorting and puffing creature kept pushing him back by swinging its horns at him. However, Silverous was soon approached by Insector and Skrerrior, who alonng with Goat-man had the warrior surrounded from all sides, not the mention about Man-bat circling over him like the vulture. The warrior doubled his efforts to keep the monsters at bay, before he was forced to pole-vault out of the circle as the monsters charged at him from all sides, only for them to end up hitting their heads together, which knocked them all out.
Donnie rolled backwards away from Yellow-head and Ankylodon, while Clobber, Cyclonys, Skrerrior and Insector approached him from behind. Donnie turned to them and brought his staff up to block Cyclonys' and Clobber's weapons, groaning with strain under the weapon's weight, before he pushed them back. Yellow-head then attempted to charge at him from behind, but Donnie whacked it in the face before roundhouse-kicking it away, sending Yellow-head flying into Insector and knocking them over.
As Clobber tried to whack him again, Donnie struck his staff onto the monster's foot, causing it to roar in pain before Donnie struck it hard in the stomach with his staff's end, knocking it down. Then he blocked Cyclonys' weapon again with his staff, before he back-flipped away as Skrerrior attempted to slash him from behind with its sickles. Landing behind the monster, Donnie swept its legs from under before putting his staff under its arms and then flung the beast into Ankylodon, knocking it over. And as Cyclonys tried to attack him again, Donnie resolved to jab it in the eye through of its helmet's single eye-hole with his staff, causing the monster to drop its weapon and howl in agony as it slapped its hands over its sore eye.
Another Ankylodon swung its tail's club at Roz, who ducked her head under the swing before stabbing her spear in its left leg, causing the m onster to fall on its knee and bending down its head, allowing Roz to execute the beast with beheading. Yellow-head then came at her and swung its axe at her, but Roz caught the monster's axe wit hher spear and turned it away before running the monster through, killing it.
But while she wasn't looking due to focusing on Man-bat, Kittynator, Goat-man and Dieskrad approached her from behind, ready to attack and kill her before she'd even know.
However, Mary then somersaulted through of Kittynator's feet, using her weapon to sweep the monster's legs from under and causing it to fly flat on its back. Mary then jumped back up and swung with her left hand her Naginata upwards and at Goat-man, slicing off its horns and causing the beast to bleat in agony, before she grabbed from her weapon with both hands and slashed across Goat-man's chest, killing it. Dieskrad then attempted to attack Mary, but the turtle in turquoise suddenly turned away from it and around while slashing her Naginata at the Man-bat behind her and Roz, beheading it, at the same time as Roz had turned around and thrusted her own spear into Dieskrad's belly, killing it.
It seemed as if they had both been aware of each other's presence and, as if thinking the exact same thing, had turned from their previous opponents to each other's opponents, taking advantage of their momentary confusion of the turtle's turquoise and the warrior's suddenly changed technique to take them down.
After defeating the monsters, both Mary and Roz turned to each other. Due to the situation, they didn't have time to exchange many words with one another, so they just nodded to each other to acknowledge each other's help before they turned away to resume fighting.
Meanwhile, Kirby had at this point finished with both Donnie's and Mary's legs and began to draw something in their outstretched arms.
"If the crystal works in this world the way it works back on Earth... and if the results are more permanent here... it might work." Kirby told to himself.
Donnie spun his staff over his head as Dieskrad, Kittynator, Skrerrior and Insector had him surrounded. Donnie, however, swept their legs from under with his staff, knocking them over. Then he leapt at another Insector and whacked its feet off, sending it flying over. Dieskrad, Skrerrior and Kittynator then attempted to attack him from all sides, but he spun around on one leg and kicked all the monsters away.
Cyclonys then came at him from behind and swung its axe at his head, but Donnie ducked under it before jabbing his staff up in the monster's chin, knocking its head back, before Donnie spun around and whacked it away. Then he raised his staff's end high up, catching Skrerrior who had tried to lunge at him from above before tossing the beast away. Donnie then turned around and whacked Clobber so hard across the face that it made the monster fly around before it fell flat on its belly to the ground. And finally, Donnie ducked under the swing from the sword wielded by Insector before he whacked the monster with his staff, causing it to fall over to the ground, out cold.
Mary, meanwhile, landed onto Man-bat's head, pinning the monster down, before she jumped up and swung her Naginata first to the left and then to the right, slashing Clobber on her left and Goat-man on her right in the faces, cutting them open and knocking them back. Turning around to her right, she slashed Yellow-head and Cyclonys across their chests, causing them to fall over, before she leaped at Ankylodon and SLASH! sliced its head off its shoulders.
Mary then slashed her Naginata at Dieskrad, slicing its head in half, before she skewered another Dieskrad and flung it over her head to the ground, killing it. Then she jumped up and swung herself around her Naginata and kicked Skrerrior, couple of Kittynators and another Dieskrad away. Insector then tried to slice her with its dagger, but the turtle in turquoise moved under it and behind the monster's back before she caught it by its throat with her weapon haft, restraining it. Insector let out a hoarse roar and, dropping his dagger, grabbed Mary's weapon in an attempt to get it off. Ankylodon simultaneously tried to attack her from behind with a double-edged axe, but the kick into the face from her knocked the beast back a bit, before Mary hurled Insector into it, knocking the monster over to the ground. Another Kittynator then tried to attack her from behind, but Mary raised her Naginata horizontally up and struck it under the monster's chin before she spin-kicked it away. Then the Yellow-head tried to punch her with the right straight, but Mary maneuvered the blow off its course with her Naginata before she struck the monster in the forehead with its blunt end and then slashed the beast in the throat, mortally wounding it.
Donnie then turned around and blocked with his staff the Goat-man's attempt to ram into him with its horns before he back-flip-kicked it under the chin, causing it to fly back. Then he turned around, dodged the swing of axe from the Insector before whacking it with his staff and sending it to the ground. And as he blocked Skrerrior's attack with the sickle-weapon before snap-kicking it away, he was almost tackled by Yellow-head charging at him from his right and Man-bat lunging down at him from behind, hadn't Mary pole-vaulted herself up and kicked the latter monster out of the sky and into the former on, knocking them down, thus allowing Donnie to focus on Ankylodon that came at him from the left. Donnie struck with his staff the monster in the stomach hard enough to force the air out of it, causing the monster to gasp and bent over, clutching to its stomach while moaning in pain, only to be soon after executed via decapitation as Mary brought her Naginata down on its neck.
Standing shell to shell, as even more monsters came at them, Donnie spun his Bo-staff over his head for a moment before pulling it behind his shell and held out his right hand, while Mary spun her Naginata in front of her before falling down on one knee - before Donnie could've accidentally hit her in the face - and held her Naginata's blade out at the goons.
By this point, Kirby had finished drawing Mary and Donnie on the page... and right after, Donnie's right arm started to glitter, and so did Mary's Naginata.
"Huh?!" Donnie gasped, looking at his glowing arm.
"Whatta...?!" Mary gasped as she looked down at her Naginata.
Donnie looked in awe when the weird-looking triple-barreled laser-cannon appeared to his arm, while Mary's Naginata turned into the Trident with three turquoise crystal-blades.
"What the shell?!" Donnie exclaimed as she looked at the device in his arm.
"A Trident?!" Mary exclaimed in surprise. "What the shell I'm going to do with the Trident?!"
They both then turned to Kirby for an explanation.
"I call it a Gravity Equalizer, Don!" Kirby explained. "It cancels the gravity equation! I just made it up!"
This made Donnie to smirk. "Cool! I ain't usually into the firearms, but I like it!" Donnie commented as he put his Bo away, eager to test his new weapon.
The bunch of monsters, Cyclonys, Clobber, Skrerrior, Insector, Goat-man, Man-bat, Yellow-head and Ankylodon charged at Donnie.
"Hey, Kirby!" Donnie called. "How do I use this thing?! A new bunch of monsters are coming and I got no time to examine it!"
"Just point it at the monsters and press the thumb button!" Kirby explained.
"Got it!" Donnie said as he pointed his Gravity Equalizer at the monsters and pressed the button with his thumb, firing the series of yellow laser beams that hit each of the monsters in the chests one by one. And upon the impact, the monsters began to levitate up into the air and they kept going till they vanished out of the sight into the sky.
"Hah!" Donnie laughed, impressed by Gravity Equalizer's abilities.
"No, fair, Kirby!" Mary complained. "Why you'd give Donnie the laser-cannon and arm me with the Trident, like I wasn't doing already a fine job with my Naginata?!"
"Mary, that Trident and its three crystal-blades! grants you the power of firing the energy bolts that will undo the goons." Kirby eplained. "If you're familiar with the one from The Little Mermaid, well, I guess that you get the picture."(1)
Mary's initial disappointment turned into the surprise, curiosity and eagerness after Kirby described her new weapon's abilities.
"Really?" she said before turning back to the battle. "Let's put this baby to the test."
Dieskrad, Kittynator, Yellow-head, Ankylodon, Clobber, Cyclonys, a couple of Goat-men and Man-bats charged at Mary. The turtle in turquoise focused hard and activated the power of her trident, which crystal-blades started to glow bright turquoise light. Then she thursted the Trident onward and out of its tips exploded a huge blast of energy that hit the monsters.
"AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!" the monsters roared as their bodies got violently electrocuted by the beam's energy and engulfed by the turquoise light before... KA-BOOOOM! The monsters exploded into the bits of light, leaving no trace of them.
"Wow!" Mary gasped, amazed.
Mary and Donnie then turned around and saw twenty new monsters charging at them.
"No turtle on menu today, but there's enough of really negative gravity for all of you, losers!" Donnie said before he raised his Gravity Equalizer up and began firing again.
"As an appetizer, maybe, but here comes a really explosive main course!" Mary added as she raised her Trident up, activated it and shot another blast at the beasts.
Donnie's Gravity Equalizer's lasers levitated half of the monsters up in the air upon the hit, while Mary's blast first electrocuted and then deracinated them instantly in another KA-BOOOOM!
"More incoming!" Donnie warned as even more monsters approached them from all sides of them.
"Then let's divide and conquer them!" Mary said, before she and Donnie leapt in the different directions-
As Donnie flew over the monsters, he fired his Gravity Equalizer down at them, causing eight monsters to levitate up from the ground as he himself landed to the ground. Then Donnie blasted at ten other monsters from his right and then six more from his left, causing them to levitate as well. Donnie managed to hold a small horde of monsters at bay by waving his Gravity Equalizer left and right as he kept firing at them, levitating at least couple dozen monsters into the air before they could even reach them.
"YAHOO! I think we're starting to get the hang of this!" Donnie whooped as he kept blasting and levitating even more monsters.
Mary flew over the monsters before landing behind their backs, before she turned her Trident at them and shot the blast of energy into the first six monster's backs, vaporizing them. Then she shot another blast at two monsters that tried to attack her from the skies, destroying them, and then she waved her Trident in the horizontal arc while shooting another, and thi time a little longer-lasting beam of energy in the front lines of the new wave of monsters, vanquishing at least twelve of them.
"Bring it on, goons!" Mary dared as twenty more monsters attacked him from all sides, as twenty new monsters attacked her from all sides and tried to throw themselves at her in a mass, only for the turtle in turquoise to spin herself around while waving her Trident around over her head, knocking each monster away from her, with the empowered turquoise crystal-blades leaving a spiraling tail in its wake.
Checking on their allies, Donnie saw that some of them were being overwhelmed by several monsters.
Shieldinas was about to be overwhelmed by some Clobbers and Cyclonyses, who banged their clubs and maces against his shield the warrior was protecting himself while backing away from them, before Donnie blasted at them with the Gravity Equalizer, levitating them away.
Thrar meanwhile crushed the skull from Yellow-head, swept the legs from another one, knocking it over to the ground before bashing its head in, and then whacked a couple of Ankylodon's across the chest, knocking them down. Skrerrior and Insector then jumped onto his shoulders and were about to pin him down, until Donnie blasted at them too, making the monsters levitate off him.
Vikinga swung his axe twice at Dieskrad, blocking with the first swing its attempt to slice him with the sword and then decaptating it with the second swing. Then he caught the Kittynator's sword and moved it away, before he bashed it in the head, knocking it down. However, the swing of Ankylodon's club-tail knocked the warrior off his feet and over to the ground. Dieskrad, Kittynator, Ankylodon and Yellow-head were just about to overpower the downed warrior, until they were hit by the blasts of Donnie's Gravity Equalizer, levitating them away from Vikinga.
Spikylia brought her spiked mace down on charging Goat-man, pinning its head down while crushing it, and then she swung her weapon over her head and then at another Goat-man, crushing the left side of his head, breaking one of its horns, and snapping its neck in the process. Man-bats were circling over her head before they dived down to attack her, but Donnie blasted them too, making them levitate upwards as well.
Silverous was spinning his staff over his head before he swung it at couple of Clobbers and Cyclonys, knocking them down, and then whacked other Cyclonys down before spinning around and then whacked the Goat-man, Man-bat, Dieskrad and Kittynator down. Insector and Yellow-head were then about to attack him from behind, but Mary lunged at them and stabbed her Trident's crystal-blades through their backs, killing them and pinning them on their stomachs to the ground, before she swung herself around on her weapon and kicked Skrerrior and Ankylodon away.
Mary then swung herself upwards, flying up towards a trio of flying Man-bats who attempted to attack her from left and right, till Mary spun herself around and whacked them off the sky with her Trident. She then began to fall down towads Hornculus, who was beating a hell out of Goat-man with his club as couple other Goat-men were charging at him with their horns down. But as the turtle in turquoise landed between Hornculus and them, she split-kicked them in the heads, sending them flying back.
"Thank you, friend." Hornculus said gratefully, before turning around and whacking Insector in the head with his club, knocking it back.
"Don't mention it." Mary said as she spun the Trident around and stabbed with it from behind attacking Ankylodon in the stomach without even looking.
As Mary ran off, she thrusted the Trident into Yellow-head's stomach, killing it and knocking the monster down, before she flipped over Skrerrior that threw itself at her and then, activating the Trident, swung it around and fired another beam of energy at the new wave of monsters, electrocuting them and then causing them to explode.
KA-BOOOOM!
Mary then raised her Trident up and shot first one, then the second, and finally two more energy beams up in the air, before she lowered it daught and caught attacking Insector in her weapons crystal-blades before she flung it over her head and slammed it to the ground, before she jumped up and swung herself around on her weapon and kicked Dieskrad, Skrerrior, Goat-man and Kittynator away before landing to the ground, and then spun her Trident around and brought its blades down on the Man-bat's back as it tried to swoop at her from the low.
Then Mary held her Trident up like the baseball bat as the energy balls she had previously fired up in the air fell back towards her.
"ONE!" Mary shouted as she batted the first energy ball at the new wave of monsters that was charging towards Roz as she stabbed the downed Dieskrad in the back with her spear before hacking the left arm off from her left attacking Kittynator with her weapon's blade. The energy ball hit to the ground in the middle of the horde and electrocuted them all upon impact before they all exploded.
KA-BOOOOM!
"TWO!" Mary shouted as she batted the next energy ball to where King Midaleas was facing another horde.
King Midaleas cut the Yellow-head in half with the right sword before slashing the Cyclonys across the chest with his left sword, before he decapitated Dieskrad with his left sword and then pushed his right sword through both Clobber and Kittynator, killing them. King Midaleas then ducked down Ankylodon's swing with his club-tail, before he crossed his arms and then slashed two crossing cuts across the monster's stomach, gutting it and making the monster to cry in pain, before the king swung his swords over his head and brought then down on the monster, cutting through the spots between the neck and shoulders and all the way down to its chest. But as he was about to get overwhelmed by more monsters, Mary's energy ball landed to the ground behind the first ones, electrocuting and exploding them all without harming the King Midaleas.
KA-BOOOOM!
"THREE AND FOUR!" Mary shouted batted the last two energy balls towards the Rainbow-Bridge, where two new hordes of monsters were flooding towards the bridge while it was being loosely protected by Shieldinas, Vikinga, Thrar and Silverous. The hordes stopped immediately when the energy bolts hit to the ground and electrocuted them, with the noticeably doubled energy due to their landing spots being so close of each other, which spread the energy wave across the wider range amidst the monster horde before all who were caught by it exploded.
KA-BOOOOOOOOMMMM!
"HAH! Who needs the Aquaman when you got Aquaturtle with the real Trident!" Mary laughed, before looking at her Trident admiringly. "I really should get one of these for myself. It could be useful in many ways."(2)
However, Mary's triumph is short-lived when Yellow-head, Cyclonys, Goat-man, Ankylodon, Clobber and Man-bat attempted to attack her from all sides and caught her off-guard.
"WOW!" Mary gasped.
But before the monsters could get to her, they were all hit by the laser blast that caused all six of them to levitate up in the air. Mary turned to the direction the blasts had came from and smiled to notice Donnie pointinghis smoking Gravity Equalizer in her direction.
"I could say the same about this babe, sis." the turtle in purple said as he blew the smoke out of the device's barrels and looked at it with the same admiration Mary had for her Trident. "Gravity Equalizer, never leave home without it."
"Heads up, Donnie!" Mary called. "Here comes three more!"
Donnie looked up and saw Insector, Dieskrad and Skrerrior charging right at him. He raised his Gravity Equalizer up and tried to fire at the beasts, but suddenly, only smoke came out of it.
"Uh-oh. That doesn't sound good." the turtle in purple gulped.
Donnie quickly checked out his weapon to see what went wrong and, to his dismay, he found the batteries that had already burned out.
"Batteries?! This thing got batteries?!" Donnie exclaimed in disbelief. "Hey, Kirby! Did you really had to draw me the Equalizer that works with batteries?!"
"DONNIE!" Mary called as she raised her Trident up to block the attack from Kittynator as it brought its swords up and pulled them down on her.
As the Dieskrad, Skrerrior and Insector charged at him, Dieskrad swung its sword at Donnie, who was forced to use his Gravity Equalizer as a shield against the blade before he kicked the monster in the guts, knocking it away. Skrerrior then slashed its sickle-weapons at Donnie twice, but Donnie blocked them to with the Gravity Equalizer before he spun around and whacked with it the monstrer in the back of its head, knocking it out. Donnie then blocked Insector's sword with the Gravity Equalizer before he ducked under the second swing aimed at his head and moved behind the Insector. And as the monster turned around to attack him again, Donnie punched it in the face with the Gravity Equalizer, knocking the monster out.
"Actually, I take that back! It makes a good shield and club, anyway." Donnie commented.
Kittynator Mary was facing off kept hacking and hacking its swords against Mary's Trident over again and again, making Mary to step back with each of its attacks that gave the turtle in turquoise no room to go into offensive.
"Take it easy, pussy cat!" Mary demanded, before she swung her Trident at the beast to strike it down.
However, Kittynator swung its own swords down at Mary as well, and its blades CUT THROUGH her Trident's haft just bellow its crystal-blades, breaking her new weapon.
"OH!" Mary gasped, eyes wide with shock at the destruction of her new weapon. "HEY! YOU BROKE MY TRIDENT!"
Growling indifferently, Kittynator raised its swords up again to strike Mary down, but the turtle in turquoise spun her weapon around wildly before she swung it upwards and struck the beast under its chin with the blund end of her weapon, knocking its head back, before Mary raised her weapon over her head and plunged its sharp tip from the broken end deep into the monster's chest, killing it.
"Great." Mary muttered under her breath as she pulled her weapon out of the monster's body and looked at its bloody tip as Donnie walked up to her. "How am I ever going to replace my Trident now, not to mention of my Naginata. The only spare Naginatas are back in our Lair." the turtle in turquoise lamented.
However, the sounds of the battle made the turtles in purple and turquoise to look around and saw that the warriors were starting to get overwhelmed by the creatures.
King Midaleas was surrounded by Clobber, Cyclonys, Yellow-head and Ankylodon. He swung his left sword at Clobber, wounding it across the chest, before swinging his right sword up at Ankylodon, beheading it.
Shieldinas meanwhile kicked away Skrerrior before he whacked Insector in the face with his shield, knocking the beast off its feet to the ground.
Roz was swinging her spear up at the couple of Man-bats who floated in the air above her, screeching angrily, while the dead bodies of a couple Goat-men lied down in her feet.
Vikinga swung his axe into the Yellow-head's chest, causing it to fly with the somersault onto its stomach to the ground, mortally wounded, before he turned around and raised his axe up again and struck it down on Cyclonys' chest, cutting it down, as Ankylodon and Clobber approached him.
Thrar smashed the skulls from both Skrerrior and Insector with his hammer, knocking the mortally wounded monsters down.
Hornculus struck his left club into Clobber's stomach, causing it to bent down, before he brought his right club down on the monster's head, killing it. Then he turned to Cyclonys and raised his crossed clubs up to block the beast's spiked mace.
Silverous was surrounded by Kittynators and Dieskrads. He struck his staff into the first Dieskrad's stomach, knocking it off its feet to the ground, before he polevaulted over the downed beast with the sideways flip and kicked both Kittynators into the chests and knocked away, only to get pounced on by the remaining Dieskrad after landing on his feet.
Spikylla struck with her left spiked mace the Dieskrad under its chin, sending it flying away, before she ducked under the Kittynator's swing at her head with its sword and struck her left spiked mace down on the monster's foot, making it roar in pain, before Spikylla uppercutted the beast in the chin, knocking it both back and down.
But each monster the warriors defeated or killed, three more replaced the fallen beast, while the other monsters were starting to break through their defense and headed towards the Rainbow Bridge and Asgard.
Donnie then turned to his right and saw a large dozens of new monsters charging at him and Mary, while Mary looked to her left and saw hundreds more coming at them.
They both then turned to Kirby, who was busy in drawing something new into his sketchbook.
"They're still coming, Kirby! Lots of them!" Donnie bellowed. "We need a little more high-tech back up here!"
"Yeah! We're starting to lose the ground to these creeps, Kirby! Do something!" Mary urged, near panicking.
"All of time, guys! I'm almost ready!" Kirby said without looking away from his drawings. Suddenly the air began to sparkle from the three spots around of them, as whatever Kirby had been drawing were coming into existence. "Add a size reference for scale... Finish it up with a few details... aaaaand... VOILÁ!"
Donnie and Mary stared in amazement that they and Kirby were standing on the platform of the giant yellow robot - or a rather a walking battle wagon - with the big mouth and two tentacle arms.
The other giant robot to its left was a white sphere-shaped body with the blue dome-like head and the holes all around of it.(3)
And the third one to its right was an orange robot with slightly more human-like shape, only with the faceless head save for two yellow eyes, long legs and four arms, two longer and two shorter, and each of which had the brooms as hands.
"Whoa! Unbelievable!" Donnie exclaimed.
"You said it, Donnie." Mary agreed. "What do you call these things, Kirby?"
The monsters down below swarmed around of the three weird robots and began to whack them in the legs with their weapons, fists and claws, but they couldn't even leave a dent into them.
"The one we're on is kind of a Mobile Creep Trapper." Kirby answered before he pointed at the sphere-shaped robot. "That one is Octo-Vacuum-Bot, kind of." then he turned to the orange robot. "And that one is Sweeper. They're supposed to respond to my brainwaves, see?"
The Creep Trapper then began to walk around among the dense horde of monsters, crushing several of them under of its feet, while it moved it tentacle arms down on the monsters and scooped with its claws handful of monsters up the ground and dumped them into its mouth, where they got disposed off.
Several hollow tentacle-like tubes came out of the holes in the Octo-Vacuum-Bot, which lowered down over the hordes of monsters around it. Then the tubes were activated and began to suck the monsters inside of them like the vacuum cleaner. The monsters traveled along the tentacle-tubes, which got pretty bulgy from the mass of the monsters they sucked in, into the robot's sphere-shaped body.
And finally, the Sweeper bent down and spread its broom-arms wide, before the sections of the robot's body containing the arms began to spin around at high speed like a windmill, and both the longer arms and the shorter arms' brooms began to sweep a large number of the monsters away with each sweep, tossing them in the air or sweeping one horde onto the other horde, knocking them all down, and out.
"Hmm. Looks like it's time to commence with Operation Clean-up." Donnie commented as he removed the broken Gravity Equalizer from his arm and tossed it aside.
"You said it, Donnie." Mary agreed. "Perhaps we might stand a chance against these creeps."
Marching as one front, the three robots either swept, picked or sucked from many dozens to several hundreds and hundreds of monsters, disposing them, even though there were still far too many even for the three of them to handle.
"Alright, Kirby. You're pretty much safe from harm's way up here. So while you're doing your things..." Donnie said.
"We'll be doing ours. In Turtle Style!" Mary finished for her brother.
With that, the turtles in purple and turquoise jumped off the wagon's platform to resume the fighting the monsters with their own way.
"GERONIMO!" Donnie shouted as he landed onto the Creep Trapper's tentacle before flipping off it.
"SACAGAWEA!" Mary shouted as she landed onto the Creep Trapper's tentacle a few seconds after Donnie before she flipped off it and after her brother.
Clobber, Cyclonys, Kittynator, Dieskrad, Insector and Skrerrior then charged at Donnie as he fell towards them, but Donnie split-kicked Dieskrad and Insector away before kicking Cyclonys into Clobber, before the turtle in purple turned spin-kicked Kittynator and Skrerrior down before landing safely to the ground.
Yellow-head and Goat-man tried to attack Donnie from behind, only for Mary to land in between of them while knocking them down to the ground with both ends of her broken Trident, before she spun it over her head for a moment and then waved it around, knocking Man-bat, Dieskrad, Ankylodon and Kittynator down as they charged at her.
After defeating the monsters, they looked around for more monsters to fight, as well as to check out their allies situation, before they saw Roz and King Midaleas looking to the direction of Asgard.
"My lord!" Roz called, looking and sounding worried as she pointed her spear at the Rainbow Bridge. "The creatures have broken through!"
Donnie, Mary and King Midaleas turned towards Asgard, and saw another horde of monsters breaking through their defenses and running along the Rainbow Bridge while many more followed after them, heading towards the city.
"We must stop them before they reach the city!" King Midaleas exclaimed.
"Leave that to us!" Mary told him.
Donnie and Mary then looked at each other, giving each other a reassuring nod, before the turtles in purple and turquoise gave chase after the monsters.
"HEY! GET BACK HERE, YOU CREEPY CREEPS! UNLESS YOU'RE AFRAID OF US!" Donnie called after them.
"YEAH! NO FURTHER STEP TOWARDS THAT CITY, YOU UGLY OGRES! PICK UP SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE TO FIGHT!" Mary called.
Yellow-head, Clobber and Dieskrad turned around, along with Ankylodon, Cyclonys and Kittynator. Not taking kindly of Donnie and Mary's insults, the monsters turned back and charged at the turtles, joined by Insector, Skrerrior, Man-bat, Goat-man, another Clobber, Cyclonys, Dieskrad and Kittynator.
Donnie swung his Bo up at the Man-bat, whacking it in the face and knocking it out of the sky before he dodged the swing of Insector's sword and kicked him at Mary, who whacked it across the chest with her Trident, sending it flying to its stomach to the ground. Donnie then blocked Kittynator's sword with his staff while Mary blocked Clobber's club with her Trident before she flung Clobber into Kittynator, knocking them down. Donnie then swept the Skrerrior and Dieskrad's legs from under, knocking them over, while Mary ducked under the swing of Cyclonys' axe before she struck it in the stomach, causing it to bent, before she stabbed it in the back, killing it, and then flipped over the charging Goat-man.
However, the first monsters' attack distracted the two long enough for the six first monsters to get close enough. And before Donnie and Mary could even prepare for them, Clobber, Yellow-head and Dieskrad lunged at Donnie and tackled him like the bunch of football players while Ankylodon, Cyclonys and Kittynator lunged at Mary in the similiar manner, pinning the turtles down.
King Midaleas stood over the dead bodies of Insector and two Skrerriors he had killed and was at the moment clashing with another Insector, before he decapitated its with his swords. But as he turned around, couple Dieskrads, couple Ankylodons, couple Yellow-heads and couple Kittynator's pounced on him from all sides, pinning the king down, and the Dieskrad tried to plunge its sword down on him, causing King Midaleas to grab on its arm to keep it from stabbing him in the face.
Spikylia brought her spiked mace down on the Clobber's head, killing it, before she swung her weapon to her left and right, bashing the Yellow-head's and Cyclonys' faces in and knocking them back, until she was whacked in the back by Ankylodon's tail, that sent her flying to the ground, before the ground of Insector's and Skrerriors piled on her.
"Spikylia!" Silverous gasped upon seeing this, but was forced to duck under the swing of the sword wielded by Goat-man before he struck it in the stomach with his staff, knocking it back. Then he thrusted his staff other end backwards, stricking from behind his back charging Goat-man in the head, knocking it back, just before couple of Man-bats swooped down from the skies and crashed into his back from behind, knocking him down.
Thrar uppercutted Clobber with his hammer, crushing its jaw and sending it flying back, before he turned around and crushed the left side of Cyclonys and Skrerrior's heads. Insector then tried to attack him, but Thrar caught it by its arms and wrestled with the beast for a moment before he punched it away. However, he was struck in the back by Cyclonys' mace, knocking him down, before both Cyclonys and Clobber pounced on him.
Hornculus, who was standing over the deceased Clobber and Cyclonys' bodies behind Thrar, struck another Clobber in the knee with his club, breaking it and causing the monster to fall on its other knee before Hornculur struck it in the head, killing it. Hornculus then spin-kicked Cyclonys, Skrerrior and Man-bat away with his right leg, before he turned around and whacked Insector in the head. However, he was caught off guard by Goat-man who rammed its horns into his left side, knocking him down. And before Hornculus could get back up, he was pounced on by Yellow-head, Kittynator, Insector, Ankylodon, Dieskrad, Skrerrior and the same Goat-man, who pinned him down.
Vikinga swung his axe at the Ankylodon who lunged at him, but even though he killed the beast, its body fell on top of him, knocking him off his feet and flat onto his back to the ground, with the monster's body weighting down on him.(4)
"Ugh! You overweight stinky reptile!" Vikinga cursed and tried to push the monster off him.(4)
The Yellow-head appeared from behind Ankylodon's body and, growling, loomed over downed warrior. Yellow-head pulled out the sword in attempt to stab Vikinga to death, but Vikinga reached out his both hands, grabbed to the monster's head and twisted it hard to the left, breaking its neck, though causing the monster to fall on top of Ankylodon's corpse, making Vikinga grunt with the gritted teeth from the doubled weight on top of him.(4)
Vikinga tried to yet again to push both Ankylodon's and Yellow-heads' corpses off him, just before Cyclonys and Clobber appeared over the corpses and looked down at him menacingly. They both leaned down over him, roaring at his face and were about to bash his head in with their spiked mace and club. Thinking fast, Vikinga grabbed to the Yellow-head's dropped sword and swung it up at the beasts, slitting Clobber's throat before plunging the sword deep into Cyclonys' chest, killing them both. Unfortunately, both monsters' bodies fell on top of the previous two monsters' corpses, increasing the weight on top of Vikinga four times.(4)
"UGH!" Vikinga gasped in pain. "You gotta be kidding me!"(4)
Meanwhile, while being pinned down, Donnie tried to keep the monster's away from him, but getting them off him was hopeless. He was already weared down by unceasing fighting and even more and more monsters kept piling on him, increasing their weight over him.
"It's no good! There's... far too... many of them!" Donnie bellowed with the strained voice, as Yellow-head grabbed to his head, pinning it down to the ground.
Mary meanwhile was doing her best to keep the monsters at bay with her broken Trident, grunting with the strain as they weighted down on her as even more and more monsters kept piling onto each other, with Kittynator roaring down at her and savagely snapping its feline fangs at her face.
"WE'RE LOSING! WE'RE LOSING!" she cried panickedly.
Roz waved her spear over her head and slashed its blade across the chests of Kittynator and Yellow-head that attacked her from her left, before she swung her spear at Dieskrad and Ankylodon who attacked her from her right, killing them and knocking them over to the ground.
But as she turned around to face a charging Ankylodon and was about to plunge her spear into its stomach, the Yellow-head came at her from behind and wrapped its right arm around of her neck before grabbing from her head with its left hand, capturing Roz into the squeezing headlock. Raz gasped in surprise and dropped her spear to the ground before she grabbed to Yellow-head's arm in attempt to get it off, but Yellow-head only tightened its hold around her throat, blocking the air from her completely, and growled in laughter as Roz's eyes and cheeks bulged while she kept fighting back with all her might.
But as the Ankylodon loomed over her, Roz looked up to the platform of Creep Trapper where Kirby was still standing and reached out to him with her left hand.
"KIRBY!" Roz let out hoarsely, before Ankylodon grabbed her by her face with its huge hand, blocking her mouth, with only her muffled screams managing to break through.
"ROZ!" Kirby gasped, his eyes wide from horror upon seeing the monsters looming over his wife and preparing to kill her along with Donnie, Mary and the rest of the warriors.
Kirby then saw Shieldinas, the last man standing, kicking Dieskrad away before he bashed Kittynator in the head with his shield, just before Insector, Cyclonys, Clobber and Skrerrior attacked him from all sides and piled on him in masses, knocking him off his feet and pinning him to the ground.
"Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no!" Kirby moaned desperately.
And to make matters even worse, Octo-Vacuum-Bot was wobbling out of balance to the left and right, sucking even more and more monsters inside of it while hundred of more had climbed on it and were hanging on it like the army of ants. And then, its tentacle-tubes just stopped sucking anymore monsters and it just collapsed to the ground.
"Oh, no! Octo-Vacuum-Bot is down!" Kirby moaned.
Kirby turned to the Sweeper and saw that the orange robot too was swarmed by hundreds of monsters that climbed onto it, despite that dozens of them were still tossed aside by its spinning arms. Eventually, due to Sweeper being not as heavy machine like Creeper Trapper and Octo-Vacuum-Bot, the weight of the monsters was too much for it to bear and it collapsed over to the ground, with its arms stopping spinning once it did.
"And Sweeper too!" Kirby moaned, before he looked down to the feet of the Creep Trapper.
Creep Trapper had picked up and dumped into its mouth too much of the monsters that they kept falling out of its mouth, indicating that the machine was filled up to its limits. And further more, the monsters had apparently detected his presence on top of it and began to climb up the Creeper Trapper's body to get him.
"Not good! My creations are overwhelmed! Donnie, Mary, Roz and the warriors are down," Kirby moaned before he looked up to the Rainbow Bridge, where the monsters were flooding towards Asgard with nothing and no one to stop them now. "And the monsters are already flooding into the city!"
Kirby then put his brains to work harder to desperately come up with something that could save the day, but almost everything he came up with could only buy them time, but not enough to stop the inevitable destruction of Asgard and its population.
"What to do?! What to do?! What to do?! C'mon, Kirby! Think what to do!" he ranted in near panick, banging his palm against his head to make his brains work faster.
"Wait!" Kirby suddenly gasped, an idea coming up in his mind, before he began to go through the pages of his sketchbook. "If all these goons are in my sketchbook, then..."
Down below, Mary and Donnie groaned as they both tried to desperately to push the monsters off, but it was no use. They both then gasped with wide-eyed dread when Kittynator lunged at Mary with its mouth wide open and teeth bared, ready to bite, while Yellow-head raised his axe, ready to split Donnie's head in two!
"Yes! Yes! I've had it!" Kirby cheered as he began very quickly drawing on his sketchbook, the crystal in his pen glowing brightly. "I just hope that I'm fast enough!"
As he kept drawing, the monster horde reached to the top of the Rainbow Bridge and were almost at the gates of Asgard, where the citizens were standing, King Midaleas daughter amongst of them.
And upon seeing the bloodthirsty monsters coming at them with nothing stop them, the citizens flew from the gate, screaming in terror while crying panickedly, "RUN! THE MONSTERS ARE COMING! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" while others screamed, "WE'RE DOOMED! WE'RE DOOMED!"
However, the princess stood there, paralyzed with fear, staring wide-eyed at the monsters, before her frightened mother and King Midaleas' wife ran up to her and scooped her up. Both the mother and daughter looked out of the gate and saw the monsters just about to flood into the city, before the queen shrieked and ran away.
Outcsite the city, Kirby knew that he was running out of time and drew faster.
"C'mon! C'mon!" Kirby urged himself as he continued to draw.
Inside the city, the queen and the princess ran away from the gate along with the rest of the citizens, until she tripped and fell over with her daughter, and were left behind by the rest of the citizens. The queen and the princess then turned around and saw to their horror that the monsters flooded under the gate into the city and began to chase after the terrified citizens across the streets, and massacre them.
One Dieskrad slashed a man in the back with its sword before decapitating another, while the other Dieskrad slashed the woman across the face with its claws.
One Kittynator ran his sword through of another man's chest, killing him, while another Kittynator grabbed to the third man and bit him down in the throat.
One Yellowhead struck a man in the chest with the axe before hacking him into pieces, while another Yellow-head struck a woman down by backhanding her across the face.
One Ankylodon swung its club-tail at the fleeing citizens, sending them flying across the streets, while another Ankylodon smashed few others to death under its own club-tail.
One Insector lunged at the man from behind, knocking him off his feet before biting him in the head, while other Insector slit the woman's throat with its dagger.
One Skrerrior sliced several men into pieces with its sickle-weapons, cutting off arms, heads, legs, even waists, while another Skrerrior stabbed the man through with the spear.
One Clubber swung its spiked club at two people, clubbing them away to their deaths, while another Clubber grabbed from the woman's face and clubbed her to death.
One Cyclonys clubbed four people with its mace before crushing the fifth one, while another Cyclonys picked up two screaming people and tossed them away like the rag dolls.
One Man-bat lunged at the fleeing woman, knocking her off her feet to the street, while another Man-bat swooped down from the sky and crashed into another man.
One Goat-man stampeded across the streets with its horns down, ramming down any unfortunate citizen in its way, while other Goatman, slashed and head-butted various citizens with its sword and horns.
Several more monsters then spotted the queen and the princess and charged at them, roaring with the lust of blood!
Outside the city, Kirby hardened his face, which was starting to get wet with sweat as he pushed his hand to work harder and faster, with the terrified screams of the citizens of Asgard and the screams of agony of the ones getting slaughtered rang in his ears and pushed him beyond his limits.
Inside the city, the queen and the princess's eyes went wide from horror as the monsters almost loomed at them and moved in foe the kill, before the queen pulled her child close, burying her face into her shoulder, and wrapped her arms protectively around her to shield her daughter from the murderous beasts as long as she could and closed her own eyes, awaiting for the death blow to come.
But as Dieskrad was about to slash at her with its sword at the same time as Kittynator was about to plunge its spear in the queen's back, while Yellow-head was about to chop off her head and the Ankylodon about to crush both the queen and the princess under its club-tail, the monsters, each and everyone of them, were all of the sudden surrounded by the sparkling lights.
And then, one by one...
The linked metal cuffs and shackles were formed on all Dieskrads' wrists and ankles, binding them together.
The armors all the Kittynators wore turned into the gibbet cages around of their bodies, trapping them.
All the Yellow-heads were wrapped up by the cage-like metal bands, trapping them.
The large cuffs appeared to all Ankylodons' wrists, waists, necks and ankles that were linked to the pegs dug deep into the ground by the heavy chains, while their club-tails were encassed in the metal balls that weighted their tails down.
All Insectors too were wrapped up by the full-body metal bands, restraining them.
All the Skrerriors were captured into the bird-cage like heavy metal cages.
All Clobbers became encased in the huge stone squares that burried their bodies up to the neck, immobilizing them.
All the Cyclonyses got the metal bands around of their waists that tied their arms against their bodies, while their legs were shackled with the linked cuffs.
All the Man-bats were put into the square metal pans full of hardened cement that trapped their arms and legs in.
And finally, all Goat-men got the metal balls around of their arms and legs that weighted them down.
The queen and the princess cautiously opened their eyes, confused as to why the death blow hadn't fallen upon them yet, before they looked up and gasped in surprise at seeing all the monsters bound and harmless.
The citizens all over the street that have survived the initial massacre, unlike the few dozen unlucky ones, stared at the restrained horde, both amazed and puzzled.
Outside of the city, both Mary and Donnie gasped in bewilderment upon seeing that all the monsters that had been previously piled on them were now lying all around them cuffed, bound, restrained, strapped, caged, encased, stuck and so on.
"Hugh?!" he gasped as he and Mary stood up and looked down at the monsters and many thousands more far beyond the distant hills that were in the similair situation, while King Midaleas, Roz and all the other warriors pulled themselves up, looking around at the entrapped monsters in the confusion as well.
"What the shell happened?" Donnie asked, completely lost.
"I'm not sure, Donnie." Mary said unsurely while taking all of this in. "But I think that we just won."
The realization that they had actually won the battle in their darkest hour despite all the odds spread amongst the battle-worn warriors and the turtles, before they all raised their weapons up in the air in triumph over their enemies.
"HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH!" the warriors and turtles cheered.
King Midaleas, Roz and the other warriors then turned towards Donnie and Mary, before they all bowed to them in gratitude and respect for the turtles in purple and turquoise.
"Thank you, mighty warriors." King Midaleas said. "You two honor us with your courage in the battle. Your service to us and to our city will never be forgotten."
The other warriors nodded their heads in agreement.
"Thank you, your Majesty." Donnie said, as both he and Mary bowed to the king in respect.
"But we're thinking that your thanks belongs really to him." Mary said as she gestured towards Kirby who was still standing on the platform, looking down at them with the relieved and proud smile on his face. "If anyone could've pulled up this miracle in our darkest hour, that'll be him with his crystal-pen."
The warriors looked up at Kirby, before King Midaleas exchanged glances with Roz, recalling her telling them that it was this Kirby who had created their whole world of Ebrik, as well as all of them, and that he could control literally everything in here with that crystal-pen of his.
Initially they were all skeptical about this claim and Kirby's ability to control things around here with that pen, but after what had happened to all of these monsters just when they were about to get overwhelmed and very close of getting killed, he was now very convinced that this Kirby indeed was a "God" of their world.
Exchanging nods with Roz, confirming that he was now convinced about what she claimed of her husband, they and the warriors, along with the turtles, walked up to the Creep Trapper and looked up at Kirby.
"Thank you, Kirby, the Creator of Ebrik." King Midaleas said, before he and his warriors, including Roz, fell down on one knee and bowed down to him in respect and gratitude. "For what you have done for us, you and your friends are welcome in our land and our homes any time."
"Gee, thanks, your Majesty." Kirby said with his thump up.
As King Midaleas began to instruct his warriors to clean up the battlefield, Donnie, Mary and Roz walked up to Kirby as he climbed down the ladders to join them.
"Roz? Are you alright?" Kirby asked as he turned to his wife with concern.
"I am fine, dear. Thank you." Roz said with weary voice but grateful smile on her lips.
"Kirby, my friend! King Midaleas might be the ruler of these lands, but you are the true king!" Donnie remarked, as both Kirby and Roz turned to the turtles.
"Indeed. How did you even do that?" Mary asked.
"As fast as I could, dear Mary. Look." Kirby said, showing them his sketchbook.
He flipped through the pages of the monsters, stating from Dieskrad, then Kittynator, then Clobber, then Cyclonys, then Man-bat, then Goat-man, then Yellow-head, then Ankylodon, then Insector and finally Skrerrior, each one of them with their respective traps he had drawn on them.
"Though I gotta admit that I'm probably gonna have blisters on my drawing hand." Kirby joked.
He, Roz, Mary and Donnie chuckled at this.
"Well, our job is done here. I don't think that King Midaleas needs us around here anymore." Mary said to them. "And they have everything under control now that the threat to their city is eliminated."
"You're right, sister." Donnie said, before he put his hands over both Mary's and Kirby's shoulders. "Come on, everybody. Let's go home."
"Mind to accompany us back to New York, Roz?" Mary asked politely. "The guys back home would surely like to meet you. And I can't wait to see their faces when they realize that we've befriended with the legends themselves."
"Gladly, my dear." Roz said with the nod. "I don't mind going back to New York with you. Besides, I think that Kirby and I have been separated for far too long. And my home is wherever Kirby and I are together."
"I wonder where I have heard that before." Mary muttered to herself.(5)
The turtles in purple and turquoise, Kirby and Roz began to walk back from whence they had come from. And as they walked, Kirby let out a deep sigh as if in disappointment.
"You okay, Kirby?" Donnie asked.
"Well, I just gotta say, I really wish we had more time to explore this land. I mean, it's incredible, if I say so myself." Kirby confessed, already hungry for a new adventures.
"Ah-ha! Coming from the guy who actually created this whole place!" Mary laughed, as the turtles and their friends walked between two ridges to the place where they had left the dimensional portal.
"Yes, but of course this world could be much different than what it was back then when I drew it five years ago. There could be all sorts of new things here that even I have no idea about yet." Kirby added.
"Indeed there is, Kirby dear." Roz said. "Asgard has at least been improved to a better city than it was originally in your drawing, even though we have been stuck in our own realm for at least five years due to these constant battles with monsters. If it hadn't been for them, we would have been able to expand our territory long ago, explore and even colonize new areas for our people."
"I would like to be part of those expeditions too." Kirby wished.
"Hmm. Maybe we can do that another day." Donnie assured them.
They walked around the corner and saw the portal waiting for them on top of the hill.
"Is that the gateway back to Earth's dimension, Kirby dear?" Roz asked, amazed to see it for the first time herself.
"That it is, honey." Kirby confirmed.
"We'll all be home soon." Donnie said happily. "Now how 'bout some chow, I'm starving."
"Ugh! Me too." Mary said, feeling her stomach growling aloud like the thunder. "All that monster-beating has increased some appetite."
"Well, as long as you two are buying it for me and Roz, pals." Kirby joked.
Suddenly, the strange fuzzing sound ahead of them made all four of them to look at the portal, and to their horror, it was fluctuating wildly... and shrinking!
"The portal!" Donnie gasped.
"It's shrinking?!" Kirby exclaimed, confused. "But why?!"
"What is happening to it?!" Roz asked in puzzlement.
"Don't know, but that's our only way back home!" Mary exclaimed.
The two turtles and the two humans ran to the portal and reached to it after it had already shrunk 3/4 of its original size and it kept shrinking at the fast pace.
"Don, Mary, you go first!" Kirby told them.
"What?!" Mary gasped, appalled that Kirby was putting them before himself and Roz.
"But... what about you?! We can't..." Donnie protested, worry written over his face.
"No! Don't argue now! There's no time!" Kirby urged. "Just go!"
"Hurry, dearies!" Roz urged them as well. "You got not much time!"
Both Donnie and Mary were conflicted, because not in the whole world they would put their own safety before the other people, especially in the situations such as this where there was always a possibility that not all of them would make it.
But when they turned back to the portal, they saw that it was now 2/4 smaller of its original size and kept shrinking. Soon it would be impossible to get through if it shrunk too small, so the both turtles saw the point in Kirby's words that arguing was now pointless and would only cost them too much time.
"Okay, we'll go!" Mary said, reluctantly, and dived towards the portal, disappearing through of it.
"But once we're in, we'll pull you through and..." Donnie promised as he dived after his sister.
Mary wound up back in Kirby's basement apartment, somersaulting to her butt to the floor. But as Donnie came through of it, he ended up stuck as the portal shrunk too small for him to fit through.
"NO! I'M STUCK!" Donnie groaned and attempted to pull himself through, but the portal kept shrinking tight around of his body, threatening to chop him in half.
"I GOT YOU, DONNIE!" Mary assured and grabbed her brother's arms and started to pull.
In Ebrik, a shocked Kirby and Roz watched as Donnie's legs flailed wildly in the air as the portal kept shrinking around of him, with only 1/4 of it being left.
"HANG ON, DON!" Kirby said, dropping his sketchbook.
"WE'LL GIVE YOU A PUSH!" Roz said, dropping her spear.
Both of them then grabbed from Donnie's feet and pushed them into the portal.
In Kirby's appartment, Donnie groaned as Kirby and Roz pushed and Mary pulled him through of the portal, until he finally managed to get through, rolling onto his shell.
Both turtles in purple and turquoise gasped with horror when they saw the portal shrinking even smaller that it was too late for Kirby or Roz to get through of it anymore.
"THE PORTAL!" Donnie gasped.
Donnie and Mary looked down at it, but there was nothing what they could do for their friends anymore. In horror and desperation, they dropped onto their knees as the portal kept shrinking.
"KIRBY!" Donnie shouted. "KIRBY!"
"ROZ!" Mary screamed.
"NOOOO!" they both cried.
The portal then vanished from the existence - much to both of the turtles grief - but not before a couple paper airplanes came through of it just before it vanished.
Donnie and Mary remained kneeling in the corner of the room in grief and disbelief of what had just happened, as the paper airplanes flew around the room without their notice, until they landed to the floor in front of them.
"What?" Donnie gasped.
"What's this?" Mary said.
They both picked up the airplanes and unfolded them, seeing that there was something written on both of them like the note... for them... from Kirby. They both read it a couple of times, and then they closed their eyes, letting the notes in their hands to slowly fall to their knees.
They were both immensely sad over losing a dear friends whom they might never see again. Mary even began to sob bitterly as the tears flooded down her cheeks from her ears. She usually wasn't this emotional compared to Arcee, but even she couldn't hold back her anguish and emotions over their loss.
"Kirby... Roz..." she said in whisper between of her sobs, before wiping the tears off her eyes with the back of her hand.
Donnie, his eyes welling too though just barely managing to hold back his own tears, looked up at her and put the hand over her shoulder, making Mary to turn her welling eyes at him. They silently looked at each other for a moment, sharing their feeling of loss with the eye-contact, before they pulled each other into the hug, mourning their friends together. And as Donnie held his sister close as she kept sobbing into his shoulder, the turtle in purple too let his own tears flow down.
And, without Mary's notice - until later - her broken Trident she had brought with her began to dimly sparkle, before it slowly turned back into her Naginata, fixed as a new.
###
After spending some time in the basement to pull themselves together, Donnie and Mary began making their way back upstairs to April's apartment, with Kirby's notes tucked in their belts.
To their dismay, Raph, still wearing the towel around his waist, was waiting for the two of them in the top of the upstairs, impatient as ever.
"So what's the skinny?!" the turtle in red began ranting the moment Donnie and Mary got to their floor. "You've been gone for ages, you two!"
Donnie and Mary tried to ignore their hot-headed brother, not really in the mood to listen his ranting, and kept walking past him and back into the apartment.
"WE GOT HOT WATER RUNNING AGAIN OR WHAT?!" Raph demanded, grabbing Donnie's shoulder to make him stop to have his answers.
However, both Donnie and Mary turned to give Raph a rather cold scowls, shocking their brother.
"Back off, Raph!" Mary said in the low hoarse whisper, which didn't sound like her voice.
Taken aback, Raph removed his hand from Donnie's shoulder, and Donnie and Mary, after making it clear to him that they're not in the mood for his tantrums, walked away, leaving Raph to look at them go, still shocked.
"Sheesh, what's eating them?" Raph wondered as Donnie and Mary entered the apartment.
After they entered, Donnie and Mary kept their shells turned to everybody, not really wanting to interract with anybody else - Raph had unknowingly made sure of that - and walked up to the window, where they put their Bo and Naginata to rest against the wall as they looked out of the window.
And then, they both took Kirby's note out of their belts and looked at them yet again.
The notes from their friend turned out to be Kirby's drawings of Donnie wielding his Gravity Equalizer and Mary wielding her Trident, with the written messages from Kirby.
"Don and Mary, life at best is bittersweet."
"Don't worry about me. I'll be fine in here with Roz."
"I'm home."
"And thank you, both of you, for being our friends."
"Take care of yourselves, and see ya around, pals."
"Jack and Roz Kirby."
After reading those messages, Donnie and Mary looked up at the sky through the windows, knowing that their friend indeed was in better place.
"Hey Donnie? Mary?"" the voice asked from behind them, making the two to look over their shoulders behind them, where they saw Arcee and Mikey standing there, looking at them with the worry over their faces.
"Are you two okay?" Mikey asked sincerely, noticing the blue looks on the turtles in purple and turquoise's face's. "You don't look so good."
"And what are you two holding in your hands?" Arcee asked curiously, seeing Kirby's notes in her sister's and brother's hands.
Almost without saying the word, both Donnie and Mary turned to look away from them and back out of the window.
"Nothing." they both said simultaneously with the low voices.
Mikey and Arcee shared the confused yet curious glances with one another, before they walked up to their siblings, with Mikey standing on Donnie's left and Arcee standing on Mary's right, peeking over their shoulders to see what they were holding or what was in the paper.
Since they weren't throwing a tantrum at them like Raph was, and that they were just worried about their well-being and curious of the notes they were carrying, and that they used a quiet and calm approach, Donnie and Mary didn't dare to lash out at them for that by telling them to go away and leave them alone - even if they just wanted to be left alone for a while right now - and they didn't even bother to hide the notes from them, knowing that it will become clear to everybody sooner or later.
But, they didn't allow them to touch them, however.
Arcee got this message from Mary after the turtle in turquoise pulled it out of her reach when she tried to reach out to it to see it. After that, Arcee didn't try to take it from her sister again.
In the case of Mikey, however, he didn't get the message at the first time when Donnie pulled his out of his reach. He tried to reach out to it again, only for Donnie to slap his hand away with his own.
"OW!" Mikey winched and pulled his hand back, rubbing its backside. "Okay, okay. Message went through!" he said.
"WOW!" Arcee gasped when she peeked further over Mary's shoulder and saw the drawings of Donnie and Mary, holding the Gravity Equalizer and the Trident in their hands. "Are those... you two?"
Donnie and Mary didn't say a word, but they just nodded their heads to confirm them.
"Those are very well drawn." Arcee commented, impressed.
"Yeah! Wow!" Mikey said, seeing the drawings himself and was impressed of them as well. "Donnie looks like he's some kind of warrior from the alternate dimension with such of high-tech weapon! I want one of those too!"
"And Mary? You're like Aquaturtle with that Trident you're holding with your in your hand. Mary the Aquaturtle!" Arcee commented, playfully punching her sister in the arm.(2)
Of course, neither Donnie and Mary responded to their comments about Kirby's drawings of them.
Arcee, however, was the first of the two to realize something, before she turned to her sister and brother in confusion. "But those can't be your handwork. We all know that with only three fingers we're not as good at drawings the things like that as humans can do with the five."
"Nah! Five fingers are overrated, sis." Mikey scoffed. "I can draw things, even with the three fingers" he added, showing the turtle in pink his fingers.
"That's not what I meant, Mikey." Arcee chided him before turning to look at the drawings of their siblings over her big sister's shoulder again.
"Donnie? Mary? Who drew those?" Arcee asked. "Come on. Do tell us."
Still, Donnie and Mary said nothing, but the turtle in turquoise gave her her answers by tapping her finger top over Kirby's and Roz names.
And as she saw them, Arcee, forgetting completely that she or Mikey weren't allowed to touch them, snatched the notes from Mary's and Donnie's hands - but the two didn't even bother to chide her for that but kept looking through the window - and looked at them closely, with Mikey moving next to her to see it himself.
And after they'd read the message, including the names of the ones that had written it, both the turtle in pink's and orange's eyes went wide and jaws went slack as everything dawned to them, though it only aroused even more questions.
"Jack and Roz Kirby?" Arcee gasped in amazement.
"The King of the Comics himself?" Mikey gasped as well.
"Including his wife?" Arcee added.
Mikey and Arcee exchanged the glances with each other, before the two of them turned to look at Donnie and Mary for more answers to their questions.
"Guys? Are you telling me that Kirby, himself Jack Kirby, was the one who drew these?" Arcee asked. "But how it can be? He has been dead for nine years already."
"Yeah. So how come you two ended up getting his and his autograph even though that dude, that legend, that King of the Comics, has long passed away?" Mikey asked.
"What even happened down there?" Arcee asked again. "Tell us."
Donnie and Mary let out a deep sigh, knowing that they wouldn't get their so much needed privacy if Arcee and Mikey kept relentlessly bombarding them both with questions of what had happened down in the basement while they were gone.
And so, after the moment of silent communication between the two, the turtles in purple and turquoise nodded to each other, for they had unanimously but rather reluctantly decided to fill Arcee and Mikey up with everything they had experienced tonight... if only to get the two off their shells so that they can be left alone.
With that, the two turned away from the window and towards their impatient youngest siblings, before they gestured them towards the table.
"You guys better sit down. This is gonna take a while." Mary told them.
"Yeah. It's a pretty long story, I tell you that." Donnie said as well.
About half an hour, a minute and a half later.
As the four turtles were sitting on the table, Donnie and Mary told Mikey and Arcee about their adventure tonight, starting from how they met the Man-bat-creature in the basement while looking for the water-heater, how they met and befriended Kirby in the basement apartment, how they witnessed him drawing the figures with the magical crystal-pen that could bring his drawings to life, how they learned that Kirby himself was really a drawing copy of his real self, how they discovered the portal that led them to the dimension of Ebrik that too was one of Kirby's creations, how they met his wife Roz, as well as King Midaleas, Shieldinas, Thrar, Hornculus, Vikinga, Silverous and Spikylia and how they had helped them to fight against the hordes of monsters to defend their city, the Asgard, and how they had eventually came back, and how the portal they'd came through suddenly began to shrink and trapped both Kirby and Roz in Ebrik while they managed to get through just in time.
"And you know the rest." Donnie finished, as he and Mary leaned on their arms to the table and looked sadly down.
And after the turtles in purple and turquoise were finished, Arcee and Mikey, who were both left absolutely speechless by the story, stared at their brother and sister with their eyes wide from the amazement, before looking at each other while taking all of this in.
"Wow! Magical crystal-pens, living drawings, the magical portals, another dimension, monsters, fantasy warriors, the floating city of Asgard. And not to mention about the legendary cartoonist and his wife both being still alive as a living drawings with the original ones' memories. Unbelievable!" Mikey listed, barely able to contain his excitment.
However, the turtle in orange's soon groaned aloud in disappointment. "Aw, man! Why I didn't go with you two to fix that stupid water-heater in the first place! I would've liked to meet a real living Jack Kirby personally!" he complained.
"Mikey!" Arcee snapped and slapped in in the arm to make him to shut up.
"OW! What?" Mikey complained, scowling at Arcee for hitting him.
Arcee nodded her head towards Donnie and Mary, making Mikey to turn to them and see that the two were still saddened and feeling blue of the loss of their good friend.
"Guys, we're so sorry." the turtle in pink said softly, feeling sorry for her siblings. "We are so sorry that your adventure didn't really got such of happy ending you might have wished for."
"Thanks, Arcee." Mary said with the low voice.
Mikey too felt sorry for his brother and sister, too much that he couldn't bare to see them so upset even if they had every reason to be so. The turtle in orange then put his finger on his finger over his chin as if to think of something, while going Donnie and Mary's whole story over again and again in his head.
It took a moment of thinking from him, before Mikey actually came up with something.
"Actually, there might be just a way to make it a happy ending after all. At least, sort of." he said.
Mikey then motioned Arcee to come closer before he leaned closer to the turtle in pink and began to whisper something into her right ear hole, holding his hand over his mouth to suppress it so that Mary and Donnie wouldn't hear him.
Arcee listened intently of what Mikey had in his mind, and after a moment of thinking it over herself, she didn't find that a bad idea and actually nodded to her little brother in agreement.
"Hold a moment. We'll be right back." the turtle in pink said, holding a finger up at Donnie and Mary to signal them to wait before she and Mikey left the table to get something what Mikey solely had apparently suggested.
Donnie and Mary didn't almost even care about that if Mikey and Arcee left the table to get whatever it was they were after. They were at least glad that they could finally be with themselves after the long night.
However, their hopes of peace for themselves were dashed when Mikey and Arcee eventually returned after a few minutes and sat back down at the table, both of them carrying something in their hands before putting them on the table.
Looking up, both Donnie and Mary were puzzled to see that what Mikey and Arcee had brought to them were a few old or new sketchbooks, along with some pencils, erasers and pencil sharpeners.
"Uh, guys?" Mary questioned then, looking down at the stuff in front of her and Donnie.
"What's all this, if may I ask?" Donnie asked.
"We just remembered that April happened to have some sketchbook with the clean pages she hadn't used for years and was just about to thrown them away." Arcee explained. "We also found some pencils, erasers and pencil sharpeners.
"What for?" Donnie asked.
"Mikey's idea, actually." Arcee said, pointing her thumb at her little brother. "Ask from him."
Both Mary and Donnie turned their heads to Mikey's direction, waiting for the turtle in orange to explain himself somehow.
"Well, I got this idea about something what you told us Kirby suggested you two in the basement. What it was again... "It takes a few years of practice before you can really have fun." Mikey explained.
Both Donnie and Mary turned to look at Mikey upon hearing what they remembered Kirby having told them earlier when the man had allowed Donnie to try his crystal-pen.
"That was really a matter of fact, not really an advice." Mary remarked.
"Maybe but he had a wisdom in those words even if he didn't know that himself." Mikey said. "So Uncle Mikey's advice to you two is... why don't you two start doing what he suggested you both to do, albeit indirectly." the turtle in orange suggested.
Both turtles in purple and turquoise raised their eyebrows at their little brother, not really getting at what he was meaning.
"And that is?" Mary asked.
"Well, why don't you just take a sketchbook, one for each of you, open a blank page, grab a pen, and start drawing something?" Arcee told them as she took a couple of sketchbooks and placed them in front of both Mary and Donnie, opening a blank page for each, took a couple of pens and gave each one before gesturing at the blank pages with her hands, as if beckoning them to draw on them.
Donnie and Mary exchanged the looks with each other again.
"Guys? How exactly this is supposed to make us feel any better after all we've gone through?" Donnie questioned them both.
Both Arcee and Mikey fought back the urge to roll their eyes at their brother and sister for still not catching what they were trying to tell them.
"Guys! Don't you get it?! Arcee and I are trying to get you two to do exactly what Kirby indirectly suggested you do! Start drawing, of course. And before you guys go on asking "Why?" or "What for?", then what for do you guys think?! Kirby was a cartoonist and an excellent drawer, so why don't you try to do the same thing he did all of his life even to his memory at least?!" Mikey explained.
"I don't know. What's even the point?" Mary sighed.
"Yeah. We already told to Kirby that we're not a good drawers at his years honed skills experience." Donnie lamented.
"And logically, taking up drawing won't bring him back, because the crystal-pen went with Kirby to Ebrik." Mary added.
"But that's not the point, guys." Arcee added. "The point is, you miss him dearly, and there's no telling when you'll see him again, if ever. That's exactly why we're encouraging you two to take up to drawing like he did, whether you have a passion for it or not, that's up to you, but at least that way you'll always remember him as the good friend you just made in one day. So take up the pen and start drawing something, to Jack Kirby's memory.
Taking their youngest brother and sister's words in, Donnie and Mary looked down at the blank pages of the sketchbooks in front of him, and then they looked down at the pens lying on the table next to their hands... and could and they could almost imagine that there was a new magic crystal tied to them next to the eraser, which, like Kirby's crystal-pen, would give these pens the ability to bring drawings to life. This thought set both of their imaginations racing and they almost wished it were so, because then they could both draw - with the skills they had - a portal between dimensions that could detach from the page into a real thing and open a gateway back to Ebrik, so they could go there to get Kirby and Roz back.
However, when they turned to look at Kirby's drawings of them and the message he wrote on them, telling them not to worry about him, for he was where he wanted to be, in the world he created and now called home, where he could live out the rest of his eternal life with Roz.
Both turtles in purple and turquoise began to wonder if their sadness and worry for their friend were completely unnecessary, and if it was selfish from them to wish - if it had been in their power - that they could somehow go back and take him away from the place where he was at home, and if it was best to just let Kirby go and be where he wanted to be of his own free will, and that all they could do was honor his wish and be happy for him.
Hesitatingly, Mary and Donnie picked up the pens from the table and looked at them in their hands for a moment, both of them recalling the moment Kirby allowed them to try his crystal-pen to draw something. Then they looked down at the sketchbook before them, waiting patiently for them to draw something into it, which reminded them of how Kirby showed them his drawings of Ebrik's landscape, as well as some of his monsters and the warriors, including his drawing of his wife Roz. And when they looked at his drawings of them, they recalled all the things he did during the battle against the monsters from the Gravity Equalizer to the Trident, from Creep Trapper to Octo-Vacuum-Bot and the Sweeper, and lastly his quick-witted idea to draw all the monsters in his sketchbook with various forms of traps to help them and their allies to to win the day.
After thinking over the matter several times, Donnie and Mary then turned to each other and smiled, nodding to each other as they solemnly decided to accept that Kirby was happier where he belonged, in his own world, and that there was nothing they could do about it but respect his decision and be happy for him, and remember him and their short yet good time together with goodwill by doing exactly what both he, Mikey and Arcee suggested/encouraged him to do: Not to worry about him too much, because he'll be fine in Ebrik. To take care of themselves till the next time, if there ever is the next time. And to draw in his memory.
"For Kirby?" Donnie said with the low voice, holding his pen at Mary.
"For Kirby." Mary said with equally low voice, holding her pen at Donnie.
Donnie nodded before he and Mary turned to look back at their siblings, both of them wearing a grateful smiles on their lips.
"You know what? You're actually right." Donnie said. "Thanks, guys."
"Yeah. We'll do it. We will remember our good friend Jack Kirby with goodwill, and start right now to take up to drawing... to his memory." Mary told them.
Arcee and Mikey smiled at their siblings, happy that they were able to bring them both out of their gloominess and make them them feel happy for themselves.
"Now that's more like it, guys!" Arcee congratulated.
"Yeah. Congratulations, guys." Mikey said, giving them a small but meaningful clap.
With that, both Donnie and Mary turned to the blank pages of their sketchbooks and put their brains at work to think of what they could draw first, while Arcee and Mikey stayed seated next to their siblings to watch the process of their upcoming drawings.
THE END
TRIVIA
1) = Reference to the Trident wielded by King Triton from The Little Mermaid franchise, though I originally planned Mary to have another high-tech weapon called Atom Reducer that reduces its targets into mere atoms. And if I had kept Dom instead of Mary, Dom's weapon were originally going to be Freeze Blaster, that freezes its targets upon impact.
2) = Reference to the Aquaman.
3) = If anybody knows/remembers/is familiar with Once Upon A Time... Life series (I loved that series as a kid), well, Octo-Vacuum-Bot's design is actually based on that series' version of Phagocyte – hovering spherical craft with several large suction tubes coming out of them to engulf germs, with a pilot's head being seen through a small canopy on top.
3) = Vikinga's situation is reference to Gimli the Dwarf's comic relief situation where he gets trapped under the weight of two Wargs and Orc in Lord of the Rings: Two Towers.
4) = Reference to what Leo said in the first part of this episode about home being there where they are together as a family.
