04/25/2012, Gremory's Training Ground, Afternoon.
"I can't take it anymore!" whines Rias with her last breath, as she lays on the ground of the training chamber breathing heavily, completely depleted of her energies. After some minutes, or maybe longer, the girl slowly stands up immediately expecting Louise Cyphre to chastise her and order her to get back to training, but that doesn't happen.
'Where has Mr. Cyphre gone?' she thinks as she exits the training chamber, opening the vault door of the room. "I think I am going to regret this..." she whispers, slowly moving the round door to peek over and see if someone was on the other side, but she doesn't see anyone. "Mr. Cyphre?" she calls out. Lucifer doesn't answer as he isn't in the basement.
Instead of finding a familiar race Rias sees a dark-looking man with pale skin and long, messy, white hair. Covering his face there is a huge scar in the shape of a crescent moon seemingly made by an harpoon.
The gloomy man's clothes consist of an heavy blue cloak over a typical military uniform akin to the Japanese Navy's ones. His two sunken blue eyes lazily look at Rias, his mouth a neutral expression leaning on a painful grimace. Rias shivers a little by the sinister look of the man. "Ehm... hello?" she says unsure on how to address the figure. Is he one of Makoto's personas? He must be no? Who else could be here apart from them, her peerage and Grayfia.
Steps are then heard coming from the stairs, for some reason this simple and innocent sound startles Rias who jumps on guard facing the stairs ready for the worst. "Leviathan where has Lucifer gone?" asks Makoto, annoyed by Lucifer missing and, moreover, preoccupied for whatever he might be doing. 'First Elizabeth now Lucifer' sighs the blue-haired messiah. 'At least the Attendant apologized and went back to Kuoh Town along with the Tower. For the Morning Star... I fear what he could be doing' says Messiah sharing Makoto's sense of worry.
"Yuki? Where is Mr. Cyphre and... what do you mean by Lucifer and Leviathan?" asks Rias both surprised and confused after hearing two of the names which carry most relevance in her own culture. "He's gone. I didn't pay attention where" replies Leviathan still sitting on his chair. "Sometimes I envy Lucifer's dynamism. In that regard I am far more similar to you Universe" comments Leviathan. "Yes, whatever" replies Makoto playing along with Leviathan, too focused on the current problem: finding Lucifer. "Rias do you have any idea where Lucifer is?". Desperate, Makoto asks Rias but the girl is more confused, and shocked, than anything else.
"Wait! You don't mean Mr. Cyphre right? Oh no... HE'S LUCIFER!? I messed up it was so obvious! Louise Cyphre it's such a stupid cover and I fell for it, completely" admits the devil heiress. "So you don't know either..." whispers Makoto before turning around. "Yuki... you don't think I... you know, made the progenitor of devilkind upset, right? He must be so pissed! I kept telling him about my brother and how I wanted to reach him" Rias gulps, presuming the worst. A worrying scene, straight up from some niche anime, playing in her head with Lucifer THE Lucifer with the capital L! "Mr. Cyphre isn't going to send a legion of demons against the Underworld in spite of my brother taking the name of Lucifer? Maybe he is going to pull up a Devilman reference and destroy humanity first right? Just like Satan?" says Rias her own fantasy driving her to exaggerate any possible scenario.
"What? No, no he is not going to do anything like that" replies Makoto after some seconds of being taken aback by Rias sudden and strangely precise description. Rias sighs in relief. "Good, but I still need to apologize if I knew he was the Lucifer I would have behaved differently" says Rias nodding her head after being sure the Devilman ending won't happen.
"Leviathan in case Lucifer returns alert me ok?" asks Makoto earning a silent and almost invisible nod from the Sea Monster in his human form. As curiosity takes over Rias she calmly walks in front of Leviathan. "Lord Leviathan I am Rias Gremory heiress of the Gremory House may I ask you some questions?".
"Rias don't disturb Leviathan" admonishes Makoto like a caretaker of a zoo admonishing the visitors to not disturb the animals. "If you want to come along let's go now" he adds already moving upstairs without waiting for Rias too long. "Yuki wait me!" pouts Rias hurrying to follow Makoto, after giving a last curious glance to Leviathan who doesn't pay any kind of attention as he stares at the void. "Yuki that... that was really Leviathan?" asks Rias as she reaches Makoto's side.
"Yes, don't mind him he's kind of eccentric and is not used to speak much" says Makoto focused on searching for Lucifer. "I shouldn't have let my excitement take the best of me, but he is really Leviathan the original one! I wanted to present myself as the future head of the Gremory House properly... Now I want to apologize to Mr. Cyphre even more" says Rias, she spoke with THE Lucifer for the last days in such a casual tone... It was like breaking a taboo.
"I thought you didn't care much about being the Gremory heiress" points out Makoto. "After all you have seen with the Riser matter it might seem so, but it's not true. Actually I am proud and happy to be who I am, the heiress of the Gremory House. However I am also Rias, I want my parents and all the Underworld understand that! I am much more than the heiress of a Pillar House" states Rias clenching her fists convinced about her dream.
Makoto makes a smile. 'Just like Mitsuru, uh?' thinks the blue-haired boy. "Yuki?" asks the Gremory noticing Makoto's smile. "Nothing, you remind me of a friend. You are both similar, she too was conflicted between her own identity and her status as an heiress, even if it wasn't a noble household, but a company" explains Makoto. "Really? Was she another one of your Confidants?" asks Rias interested in knowing more about Makoto's life. "Yes, she is the Empress just like Sona" says Makoto.
"I am your Priestess in our world, right? Who is the other one?". Makoto then tells Rias about all his friends in SEES as the Gremory girl continued to pester him about it.
They finally find Lucifer coming back towards the basement of the Manor. "Mr. Cyphre... Ehm Lord Cyphre. I am deeply ashamed for having treated you without the correct formalities" apologies Rias as soon as the two teenagers see the Morning Star. "You told her?" asks Lucifer to Makoto. "She heard it from me and Leviathan" explains the messiah. "Raise your head kid and get back to work" says Lucifer without much compliments as he shoves Rias back towards the stairs. "Mr. Cyphre we just finished the most tiring and painful train I have ever had in my entire life I can't do this again!" complains Rias. Lucifer smirks. "It only means you are getting better, pain leaving your body equals to weakness leaving it too".
Rias, despire her trying to convince Lucifer to let her go, goes back to her training leaving Makoto to witness at the strange scene.
'Did we really saw the Morning Star behave like an old teacher?' asks Messiah, he too flabbergasted by the Devil's lack of threats. Behaving more like they would expect Kohryu, certainly not Lucifer. 'It seems so' says Makoto smiling. "Wait... we still don't know what he has done during his absence" he mutters making towards the basement. 'Leave him be Makoto. This mission of ours is changing us all, we are being shaped by the people of this world and their beliefs. Not that I dislike it' says Messiah.
