"Help yourselves to some coffee" Max told them after they came back down.

"Sit down Angela. I'll get yours for you." Tony said.

"Thank you Tony."

Tony fixed her cup of coffee knowing exactly how she liked it and set it in front of her. He made himself his own cup and leaned against the kitchen counter.

"So how did you sleep?" Mona asked.

"Oh fine." Tony told her.

"HMMM and how about you Angela?"

"Fine. Just fine."

"I see." She raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything else.

"So! I still have some pancake batter if you're interested." Max said.

'Yeah, I certainly am. I slept like a baby last night." Tony grinned.

"I thought you slept fine." Mona said.

"I did. I uh slept like a fine baby."

"If you say so. But, I have to wonder why the two of you didn't come inside last night?"

"Mother, we fell asleep. That's all it was."

"Yeah, Mona. I mean it's so peaceful here. We were outside enjoying the quiet and fresh air and before either of us knew it we had fallen fast asleep. It's no big deal."

"So neither one of you woke up in the middle of the night and noticed you were out on the porch and thought: Hey maybe we should go inside?"

Tony shot Angela a look. The truth was he had but had been so comfortable being near her that he decided not to wake her. He had felt so much at peace and didn't want to break the spell. So he had kept silent and just enjoyed being with her. After all, it wasn't like they would ever have an opportunity like that again.

Angela avoided eye contact with Tony and took a long sip of her coffee. She had in fact woken up in the middle of the night. She knew she should have woken Tony up but being with him had felt so amazing and she didn't want to take the chance of ruining things. The sad truth was they probably would never have a moment like that like that for a long time-if ever.

"Nope, I didn't. How about you Ang?"

'Nope, I slept straight through the night."

"Okay, if you say soooo." Mona grinned.

Tony rolled his eyes.

"So Angela, how about some pancakes?"

"Sounds good."

"I have blueberries if you want." Max told them.

"Hey thanks Max. Blueberries Angela?"

"Sure."

"Go on and sit down Tony. I'll make them for you." He plugged the griddle in and waited for it to heat up.

"Okay. Thanks Max." Tony sat down next to Angela.

"So how many would you like?"

"I'll take two. How about you Angela?"

"Two is good."

Max turned so they wouldn't see the small smile on his face. They certainly were trying hard not to make a big deal out of last night or even their entire relationship. The truth was though Tony was acting like a lovesick husband constantly asking his 'wife' what she would like. He poured the batter onto the griddle and after a few minutes flipped them. He grabbed a few plates from the cupboards and some silverware and slid their pancakes onto the plates.. He unplugged the griddle and set everything down in front of them.

"Thank you Max.'

"Yeah, thanks Max."

"You're welcome."

They proceeded to put butter and syrup on their pancakes and began eating.

"Wow, Max. These are really good." Tony complimented him.

"Yes, they are." Angela agreed. 'But, not as good as Tony's. His are so light and fluffy.'

'A hundred to the left!. A hundred to the right! Makes those pancakes ready for flight!'

She started coughing.

"Ay. Oh. You okay Angela?"

"What? Oh, I'm fine." She took another swallow of coffee.

'Okay Angela stop thinking of Tony's pancakes…. And the way his muscles bulge and flex when he's hand whipping the batter. Oh hell it was getting hot in there!'

"Umm Max, did we buy any juice?"

"Uh yes, we did. Orange and cranberry."

"Oh okay." She got up and went to the cupboard and grabbed a glass. She opened the refrigerator and took out the container of orange juice and poured herself a glass and took a long swallow.

"Would anyone else like some?"

"No, thanks."

"I'm fine."

"None, for me."

She poured some more in her glass and put the juice back in. She sat back down and resumed eating.

"So, Tony. Mona told me you like to bowl."

"Are you kidding?! I love bowling. And I'm not so bad if I do say so myself!" He said with a smug smile.

"And he does. A lot." Mona rolled her eyes.

"Hardy har har! So is there a bowling alley nearby?"

"Yes, downstairs."

Tony started coughing. He took a swallow of his coffee.

"Are you okay Tony?" Angela asked.

"Uh yeah. I'm fine. Wait a minute Max. You have a bowling alley here?!"

"Well it isn't much. Only two lanes. There is also a pool table, a few pinball machines, a bar, a couch, a couple of chairs, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a bookshelf filled with books, word finds, crosswords, magazines and a big screen T.V."

"Oh, yeah that isn't much at all." Tony said, his eyes wide.

Max laughed. "Well you never know if there's going to be a storm and you have to stay down there until it passes."

"At least you wouldn't be bored." Mona laughed.

"That's true. Of course when there isn't any power you have to make do with reading and playing cards. Oh do you like playing cards?"

"I love playing cards. Poker is my game." Tony smirked.

"I love playing poker too." Angela smiled.

"You play poker Angela?"

"Well, I only played it once."

"Yeah, with Tony and his Brooklyn buddies. She cleaned them out!" Mona laughed.

"MONA!" Tony growled.

"Well she did. I was so proud of my baby when I heard about it!"

"Thank you Mother." Angela said the surprise was evident on her face and in her voice.

"You're welcome. Oh hey maybe you'll beat Tony in bowling too!" She threw her head back and laughed.

"Mother! Come on. I have never played bowling before."

Tony, Mona, and Max all laughed.

'What's so funny?" Angela looked at them in confusion.

"Angela, you don't play bowling. You go bowling." Tony informed her after he got himself under control.

"Oh. Well whatever. But it's true."

"Yes, it is but you never played poker before and you beat the pants off Tony and his friends. Well so to speak."

"Ay Oh! She didn't win every hand!"

"Okay, enough you two!" Angela sighed. "I swear Max sometimes they are like little kids when they get together."

Max laughed. "So are we on later for some bowling?"

"Sounds good to me." Mona said.

"Me too." Tony said.

"Okay. I'm in too. But, you're going to have to be patient with me." Angela said shyly.

"Hey, maybe Tony could help you like he did when he showed you how to swing a bat. Or tried to." Mona smirked.

"Oh, this sounds like an interesting story." Max said.

"Oh it is. You see Josh, a former team mate of Tony's, came to town to do a commercial for Angela. Well Tony and Josh got a little competitive and challenged each other to a pick up game. Angela was on Tony's team at first."

"At first?"

"Yeah, so anyway Tony kept trying to show Angela how to swing a bat but she wasn't getting it. Poor Sam had to keep pitching balls over and over. Jonathan was at the end of the driveway waiting for the ball and well it got dark. Josh came and showed her and with only one lesson from him Angela hit the ball right down the driveway."

"Mother, how do you know all this? You were out."

"The kids told me."

"Of course."

'So anyway, Josh invited Angela to be on his team."

Tony and Angela gave each other a quick look remembering the awkwardness they had both felt being on opposing teams.

"And both teams were doing well, but guess who made the winning hit? Mona asked proudly.

"Angela?"

"You got it! My baby! I was so proud!"

Once again Angela was caught by surprise. This was the second time in ten minutes Mona had said she was proud of her."

Maybe Max was a good influence on her.

Tony thought back to that moment. He could have easily struck her out and won the game. If it had been anyone else he would have. He had wanted to beat Josh for years. Yes, they were friendly but the competition between them was strong. But, he just couldn't do that to Angela. Even if it meant he would lose he wanted to see her win. And the smile on her face afterwards made it all worthwhile.

"Yeah, I could show you some pointers Angela."

"Okay thanks Tony."

"So I guess it's a date then. I hope Angela bowls you over Tony!" Mona laughed.

"Very funny Mona."

They all cleaned up and Max invited Mona to go for another walk. He graciously invited Tony and Angela along but a don't you dare look from Mona stopped them.

"Oh, no you two go ahead." Tony told them.

"Yeah, I think I'll do some reading out on the porch." Angela said.

"Yeah, me too."

"Okay... Just don't fall asleep again." Mona smirked and went out the door.

Max shook his head and followed after her.

"So, a little reading time Angela?"

"Uh, yeah. Meet you out there in ten minutes?"

"Sounds good."

They both stared at each other. The magnetic pull they felt from the beginning overwhelming them.
