This fic stems from a personal headcanon of mine that Ozpin, Glynda, Peter, and Bartholomew Oobleck were all on a team back in their Beacon Academy days. After going out on a mission, Ozpin and the rest of team OGPB encounters Salem. Ozpin leaves the group and tries to pursue her, only for her to attack him. The following scene is what happens when his team finds him.

A paranormal investigator wasn't the kind of work Blake was thinking of when she left the White Fang, but beggars can't be choosers.

Ozpin pays a bit more attention, and 2 lives are changed forever. Jaune Arc and Blake Belladonna, Beacon's pair of frauds, have nothing but each other and their weapons when they are kicked from the academy before school even begins. Now penniless and hopeless, their only option is to unite and form a team of freelance hunters. Together, they will do missions and shit.

Despite the pain they've endured, perhaps Jaune and Winter can manage to guide and protect the both of them, even in a time, and world, apart from their own.
