CHAPTER TWO
Lavender, Nate, and Meg all walked away from the brick wall. The three siblings just stood there to marvel at the busy street of Diagon Ally. Lavender gazed up and done the streets to see many different stores. Only a few moments later did lavender felt her hand being pulled by Meg towards a weird tall building North side of Diagon Ally.
"Why are we going that way?" Lavender asked.
"We need to pick up more money for us if we be able to buy everything on all of the three supply lists" replied Nate.
Lavender nodded at the reply and three siblings continued their way. Along the way lavender saw different stores with many different items in each one. But what really caught lavender's attention was an ally way that led to some interesting shops.
"What is over there" asked lavender?
"That is a place where most of the dark wizards and witches go" replied Meg.
"Oh. Ok." Lavender said.
They continued their way and when they finally got to the tall building that had a sign with the words "Gringotts Wizarding Bank." The doors opened and the three walked in towards the front where they saw a goblin looking down at its desk, doing something. It took some time, but the goblin finally looked up and notices that there were people there.
"We want to go into our vault and here is the key." Nate said as he held out small golden key.
"Alright but be warned that if you cross me then it will not end well for you," said the goblin.
"Why would we want to cross you?" Lavender asked.
"Because someone did, and they paid the price with their life." He replied not turning around.
The small group made it to a cart and went in. As soon as Lavender walked in, the cart started moving. It started slow, but then picked up speed within seconds. All through the journey you could hear Lavender's and Nate's screams as the cart went speeding on the tracks. After a few twists and turns and even loopy loops, the cart finally stopped, and Lavender and Nate went flying forward because they forgot to hold onto something. Meg just frowned at the two as they picked themselves up from the floor.
The goblin walked in front and put his hand on the vault door. The vault door opened as soon as he also inserted the key. The siblings walked in and saw piles and piles of some bronze Knuts, about ten big piles of silver Sickles, and about maybe 15 giant piles of golden Galleons.
"Wow. I didn't realize that we had this much money" said lavender in shook.
"Well yeah. But we keep a lot more in our own vault at home" replied Nate laughing at his sister's reaction.
Eventually the siblings left Gringotts and started back into the streets of Diagon Ally. Nate said that Meg should go with Lavender to go get her wand and then go get her robes. So, they agreed, and Meg and Lavender went to Ollivanders wand shop. They walked into the shop and was met with and older looking man that had crazy white hair.
"Ahh. Hello Megara," said the man.
"Hi Ollivander. I brought my younger sister with me." She replied.
"Yes. I can see. How are you, Miss?" The man, Ollivander asked.
"I am good."
"Good to hear. Now let me see, let me see."
Ollivander went to one of the shelves in the back and pulled out a box. He then returned the desk and placed down the box. He opened the lid and pulled out a light brown wand.
"This is a wand that is 10 3/4 inches, dragon string, and chestnut wood. Now try it out and just wave your hand and we'll see what happens."
Lavender took the wand into her hand and when she waved her hand and the lights in the store flickered for a while. Ollivander shook his hand and then went to grab another wand. This time it was 11 1/2 inches, unicorn hair, and dark oak wood. Again, that wand didn't work. So, the kept at it until he went to a different room and when he came back, he brought out an odd looking box.
"This is a 10-inch, Blackthorn, Basilisk horn, a bit flexible. The wand core is rare, because only one known wizard has ever had this core and of course it was one of the founders of Hogwarts. It also has an interesting wood type because it is hard to gain its loyalty, but it isn't impossible. It has a really nice design on it and that it is very simple and nothing complex."
Lavender grabbed the wand and as soon as it touched her hand it started to glow.
"Well then. I guess you have your wand then."
They bought the wand and went out and started their journey to the robe store. The two sisters walked in and started getting fitted for their robes. The process didn't take long so they were able to leave soon after. It didn't take long to find Mate, who was waiting for them with a cage bring covered.
"What is that" Lavender asked?
"This is for you" replied Nate.
Lavender was given the cage and as soon as she lifted the fabric off. She was met with a barn owl. She looked up in shock because she didn't expect it.
"How" Lavender asked confused?
"Well, you're allergic to cats and you are not fund of toads and that a few days ago I asked you what your favorite type of owl was."
"That makes much more sense now. You know, I was really confused on why you were asking me weird questions."
Meg laughed and said, "you did a terrible job of being discreet."
"I was trying to get answers. Don't judge me."
"I'll judge whenever I want" Meg said sticking out her tongue like a child.
The siblings continued to bicker on their way home after getting all the other materials for their school year. Once they reached home, they all went on their separate way and lavender went to her room. As she closed the door, she set down the cage gently so not to disturb the barn owl. Lavender then placed down all her new belongings next to her bed.
She didn't have many other things to do so she decided to look at her new companion. It didn't look like it was fully grown and that it was light brown with heart-shaped face, long ivory to pinkish colored beak, and relatively small dark eyes. She didn't care how big or small the owl was because to her the owl looked amazing.
"Now I need to find a name for you." Lavender said as she went to grab a book she had.
She opened the book and saw different names in it.
"How about…." Lavender saw a word that caught her attention. Even if it wasn't a name. "How about Sapien. That seems like a good name for you."
As she said this the owl opened its eyes and stared at her. He made a harsh, but soft scream. Lavender slowly moved her hand towards the cage door, but the owl quickly pecked at her. It didn't really hurt, but it did surprise her.
