CHAPTER SEVEN
Two months have passed, and it is the 20thof November. Lavender was laying down in her bed with her curtains drawn because she didn't want to get up just yet. Luckily it was Saturday and that she didn't have any classes for today or tomorrow. She decided that she did not really want to go down to the great hall for breakfast, because then it would mean that she had to move but whenever she did, the pain would come back. Last night was one of the worst nights Lavender had, though it would never be the end of it. It will only get worse later.
For the last month she had stayed with the Slytherins, though most of them ignored her, some asked about her blood status, and she has said that she was a pure blooded and they seemed relieved about that. though they were happy that she was a pure blood, they were not happy that she wasn't fully into their house, but she doesn't care about that, there were more important things to deal with. During her stay in the dungeons, she did still hang out with Remus, when they had classes and during their free time.
She had also made friends with the Gryffindor girl Lily, who seemed more fit for Ravenclaw, but it didn't really matter. Lavender has studied with her and Severus. Severus was alright though didn't seem all that interested in the compony of a third-party member, so Lavender never stayed for very long. The main places that Lavender has visited more often was the library, or this room that she had found. The room was never used, hence all the cobwebs and the lack of furniture. But she did tided it up one day, because she had nothing better to do. It was also a place where she gets to be alone without having anyone bother her, especially the trio that shares the dorm with Remus. He seemed to be doing fine in there since they don't really say anything to one another from what Remus had said.
Lavender have been receiving and writing letters to her parents saying how well she is doing and that there has been no trouble. Which she is relived about because if there was then she would be sent back home and live with her aunt, who she does not want to live with.
After laying there for a while, Lavender decided to get up and get things done. Seeing that the other girls have already left the room, lavender changed her pajamas into a pair of black jeggings, a white tank top, a white sweater that was too big and black ankle boots. She pulled her hair into a messy bun and once that was done, she opened the door and saw that there were a few students in the common room sitting about chatting about anything and everything that they could think of. She noticed that the trio was sitting at one of the tables in the corner, hovering over something. She couldn't make out what it was exactly, but if she had to guess it was one of their pranks they are planning to pull. She exited the common room, making her way down the hallway and towards the ever-changing staircases.
"James, do you think this will work" Sirius asked as he looked over his friend's shoulder, looking at the plan.
"Absolutely. I've made sure that this would affect the no good Slytherins."
"I have a bad feeling about this guy. How would we even pull this off without getting caught again" Peter asked?
"You always have bad feeling whenever we pull off a prank. But they deserve it, with their better than you attitude, especially Snivilous." Stated Sirius.
As he said this, he noticed a certain raven-haired girl leaving the common room. He's noticed that she hasn't been around the last month and heard a rumor about her being seen in the Slytherin area. The three of them don't really know what to think about her with how she stood up to them about Remus, but also being one of the quietist people they've met. She barely hung out with anyone other than Remus. The only time that he ever ran into her was at the library and sometimes in the Great Hall, and of course classes, but for the rest of the time she just seems to disappear, and no one would be able to find her if they wanted too, including Remus.
"Hey guys" Sirius says trying to get his two friend's attention.
"What is it mate" replied James?
"Should we include Lavender, if the rumors are true?"
"About her being part Slytherin. Is that even possible?"
"Yeah. We want to get all the Slytherins, so that would include her right or is she still Gryffindor enough, that we wouldn't get her?"
"I think she should be included with how she was being rude to us earlier."
"But would she even be there what we pull off the prank? Because she sometimes doesn't go to the Great Hall." Peter pointed out.
"You're right Peter. I guess we won't include her then because if we did then we would have to change the plan a bit and we don't have that much time left." Concluded James.
"Come on we should take a break and get something to eat before we finish." Stated Sirius.
Lavender reached the Great Hall and saw that only a few students here and there, some of the Hufflepuffs were at different tables either at the Ravenclaw table to ask about homework, or at the Gryffindor table, asking about their quidditch team coming together, or at the Slytherin table for who knows why. Though not every Slytherin was bad, but some were. So, it's a 15% chance of them being actually being nice to the Hufflepuffs. Lavender went to the far end of the table, just so that she would be able to eat and then just leave without being bothered by her house. She placed some food onto her plate and looked around to see if either her brother or sister was around, but they weren't.They must be at Hogsmeade. I can't wait until I could go out and not have to stay inside the school. Oh well, just another semester and then I could see what there is out there. Well, I still have homework to do so I'll probably go back the common room and then the empty room. At least then I could get work done and then be able to relax.
It didn't take her long to finish her lunch, so she got up and walked out the doors, almost running into Sirius. "Watch where you are going"she heard him say. She quietly apologized as just a reaction, not knowing if he heard or not but that wasn't on her mind. She wasn't not in the mood to deal with the boys right now. As she was walking away, she didn't see the surprised look on Sirius's face, who was not expecting an apology. As she headed back up the stair and towards the common room, she heard a noise. She turned to the left where the noise was coming from but there was nothing there, only an empty corridor. When she was about to continue her way, there was the noise again. It sounded like an object hitting against a wall. Not knowing what the cause was of said noise or the fact that she has never stepped foot into this corridor before, she decided to take a risk and see what was going on.
As she was going the corridor it started to get darker and darker, which didn't take long because there were no windows. So, Lavender had to cast Lumos in order to see in front of her, though it didn't provide a lot of light, it did the job. She was able to make it to the end of the hallway, but there was no evidence of what caused the sound, it was just empty. She decided to forget about it, since there was nothing there and walk back to where she was going. When it started to get lighter and lighter, she noticed that something was different, that when she was walking down the corridor to get to the dorms, it was about the afternoon, but now it was dark out. She could see the beginning of the moon being formed rising in the sky.
"Huh? This doesn't make sense." As she said this, she saw Professor McGonagall walking in her direction.
"And why is it that you are out of your common room" the Professor asked?
"Sorry, Professor McGonagall, how is it already night? It was the afternoon just a few minutes ago."
Professor McGonagall looked slightly confused with the odd question as if this student doesn't know how time works. "Are you ok? Do you need to go to the medical wing" McGonagall asked?
"No. I'm fine. I guess I just lost track of time and didn't realize what time it was. If you excuse me but I will head to the tower. If you don't mind."
"I'll just give you this one warning but if you are caught out of the dorms again, it will be a detention. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Professor. Have a good night."
Lavender turned around and walked to the dorm, still confused on what just happened. Maybe she did just lose track of time, especially with how there was no windows.Yeah, that must be it. It was dark and there was no way of telling what time it was. With this, she continued her way.
McGonagall looked back at the doubled house student with a slight worried look on her face. She looked over to where she saw Lavender walking from, but there was nothing there, only a brick wall.I'll bring this up to Dumbledoreshe thought as she continued with her rounds.
