Chapter 1:
These are creatures called Shmoos. There are billions of them. In fact, there are more shmoos than there are of anything else. They have the unique ability to shapeshift into anything useful and are very friendly, but no one knows they exist… almost no one.

Nita, Mickey, and Billy Joe were working on a new comic book for Mighty Mystery Comics. "Face it, Guys," says Nita, "we haven't had any real idea! None of our 'mysteries' are very mysterious!"
"Well, maybe if y'all would hear mine out…"
"Billy Joe, your plots are all ripped off from actual mysteries," says Mickey, "your Red Knight is based on that Black Knight, your Mister Snide is based on Mister Hyde, you even ripped off the latest one, that Captain Ahab thing those Ghost Chasers dealt with!"
"Those are good mysteries, ain't they," asks Billy Joe.
"Guys, I'm going to have to explain to the boss that we couldn't think of anything." Nita then kisses Mickey on the cheek and walks away.
"So, what'cha wanna do," asks Billy Joe.
"I'm going to try to find a scientific explanation for that sea monster attack," says Mickey.
"Cool, I'm goin' for a walk," says Billy Joe.

"What's the point," asks Billy Joe, "there ain't nothin' mysterious about Dogpatch!"
"You want somethin' mysterious," asks Lil' Abner, "boy, do I got somethin' for you!"
...
Meanwhile, Daisy Mae Yokum was going for a walk when a bus almost hits her. She gets scared, but then someone saves her. "Who are you?"
"You can call me Captain Mentor!" He then takes her to safety.
