The Day After RWBY and Co Left for Paldea

BGM: Professor E Gadd (Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time)

At the McGarden Library, Ford was sitting at a table, writing down some notes on his next book. In fact, he had just finished the sketch on Flandre herself. The thought of seeing a real life vampire, let alone her appearance looking like she belongs in junior high despite being nearly five hundred years old.

Of course, considering she's from Gensokyo had fascinated him. Just what exactly went on in Gensokyo that had creatures like Flandre casually flying around Remnant/Mushroom Kingdom just like that?

Come to think of it, he couldn't help but overhear that a magician-to-be was studying magic in Gensokyo… yet some folks thought she was kidnapped. Most just saw her as an apprentice. Either way, whoever this magician was, it was enough to make him wonder…

A book being placed down on the table across from his seat was enough to make him snap out of his thoughts, seeing that Pacifica had picked out a book of her own.

"Sorry for the wait." She said, taking a seat across from him.

Ford chuckled. "No, don't be. I'm honestly surprised that you took some time for yourself to pick out a book that catches your interest. So, uh… what did you get?"

Pacifica showed the cover to him as he took a look at it. "The Theories & Practices of Alchemy by Nikoopa Flamel." He read as he looked intrigued. "A book about… alchemy? Huh, I didn't know you were into these kinds of things, Pacifica."

Pacifica looked sheepish. "Honestly, I took this book because it was the first one I could grab off the shelf."

Ford let out a chuckle from the nature of her answer. "Go ahead and read it, I'm sure you might learn something interesting from the Mushroom Kingdom's counterpart of Nicholas Flamel."

With a nod, Pacifica started to read while Ford was left in his own thoughts, looking back at the journal entry he wrote regarding Flandre.

Hmm, perhaps I should make a trip to Gensokyo, see what the mysteries entail regarding it. If I recall, it's a moon orbiting the planet Popstar. Ah, but how do I get there? I'm sure I can think of something as I'm in Dreamland.

He was lost in his own thoughts, wondering how he would be able to travel to said moon. Going to Dreamland was easy. Gensokyo? That's another issue.

He folded his arms, closing his eyes ae he racked his brain.

A Cape Feather? Too boring… not to mention after watching that one movie with his niece and nephew where several superheroes got their cape snagged on something, including a jet turbine, capes were definitely a no go.

Perhaps a jet plane could reach it? Then again, planes aren't built for space travel.

A rocket, perhaps?

Hmmm, where would I even get one? Ford thought.

Perhaps make a giant portal that would get him there.

Heh, not a chance…

As he continued to think and try to figure out how to get there…

Beep beep! Beep beep! Beep beep!

"Hmm?" Ford looked at this watch. "Oh, that time already? Come on, Pacifica. It's time to head back. Return that book where you found it, if you will."

"Actually, I want to take it with me." Pacifica said. "Something about alchemy is… speaking to me and I want to learn all I can from it. I also want to see if Nikoopa Flamel has any other of his writings here."

Ford looked at her in surprise before chuckling. "You've only been here for a few days yet you managed to find something productive. Proud of you, kiddo." He said, scruffing up her hair as she let out a giggle.

End BGM

The following day…

"Hmm… now how am I going to get to Gensokyo… surely there has to be a way to that spot."

"Oh, you wish to go to Gensokyo?"

Ford turned his head to see Yukari approach him, casually holding an umbrella over her head. "Oh, and you are…?"

"Yukari Yakumo. You're Stanford Pines, I presume?"

"Yes, I am. How do you know that?"

"Oh, I'm very observant. I was just visiting the Mystery Zone just to see what all the fuss was about~" Yukari giggled. "I've read your journal entries, they were quite the page turners."

"True, but I can't help but notice you conveniently overheard me talking to myself."

"Oh, Ford… you'd be surprised how often I eavesdrop on conversations when I'm not taking month long hibernations~"

"I see-... wait, you take naps for how long?"

Yukari giggled. "Let's not worry about that. I can tell from the look in your eyes that you want to research Gensokyo. After all, don't think I don't know about that entry regarding young Flandre~"

"Are you an eavesdropper or a stalker?"

Yukari smiled sweetly. "I'm a train engineer~"

"Huh?"

"Don't worry about it~ Would you like to go to Gensokyo?"

"Absolutely."

"Very well." Yukari offered her hand. "Just take my hand."

Ford hesitated, unsure what to think of Yukari before he took her hand, where she opened up a gap and casually pulled him in. "Whoa!"

BGM: Usual Days (Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody)

Reimu casually sat on the porch of the shrine, drinking some tea while letting out a soft sigh. "I wonder how the kid's training is going." She said, recalling that Alice had caught wind of Himiko's magic training and wanted to help out on her own.

She had already quickly learned Clownpiece's abilities while also mastering the magic that Patchouli had taught her.

She had to admit, for being a teenager, she was quick to learn and use magic of her own in own style. Unfortunately, she was just as lazy as Reimu or Komachi, something that didn't bother Reimu all that much.

Once a slugabed, always a slugabed. She couldn't help but chuckle over it.

"Come to think of it, I wonder if she'll become a Youkai herself. Hmm… the Ultimate Youkai Magician has an interesting ring to it." Reimu mused.

Suddenly, a gap opened up as Reimu looked up to see Yukari walk out with Ford. "Hello Reimu~!" Yukari waved.

"Oh hey Yukari. Who's the plus one?"

"You recall the Mystery Zone, correct?"

"Oh, that weird shack at Toad Town? Yeah, Marisa and I went there a few days ago. Looked pretty interesting. The journal entries were neat too. …Though I had to pull Marisa away from the gift shop. Not like she needed any more junk in her home."

"I take it she's a hoarder?" Ford asked.

"Calling her a hoarder is an understatement. She takes what she likes." Reimu shrugged.

Ford sweatdropped. "I see…"

"Reimu, this is Stanford Pines."

"Mr. Mystery himself?" Reimu wondered before noticing his hands. "...Oh. Six fingers. Apologies."

"No no, it's okay. We get that a lot in Toad Town." Ford waved it off.

Reimu chuckled. "So, what brings you here to Gensokyo? Stargazing in Popstar and decided to make a trip to Gensokyo?"

"I was just curious about the anomalies that go around in this world." Ford explained. "You see, it all started when my niece and nephew's friend made friends with Flandre."

"Ah, yes, the pink haired girl who could go toe to toe with Flandre. And here I thought Xena and Yagami were the only humans other than me and Marisa that could actually beat her." Reimu mused. "I'm still amazed that that Kotoko girl lived."

"I wasn't worried in the slightest." Yukari chuckled.

"So, you want to know more about Gensokyo?"

"Yes. For starters, what was it like having your moon be transferred over to Popstar?"

"First of all, Gensokyo was a secretive location somewhere in Japan in our world, curtained behind the Hakurei Barrier. It's basically hidden away from the Outside World where Youkai could roam around free without being hunted by any outside forces."

"Interesting."

"Yeah. People often accidentally wandered in and I would usually guide them back to their civilization or they made themselves a new home in the human village." Reimu explained. "And personally, I don't think Gensokyo is big enough to be a whole entire moon orbiting a star shaped planet, but I'm no expert in space time mumbo jumbo, so what do I know?"

Ford nodded. "That one is truly a mystery." He said as they both heard innocent whistling coming from Yukari.

"...You had something to do with it, didn't you?" Reimu asked.

"Oh, now why would you think I'd have something to do with making sure Gensokyo was sustainable orbiting a planet and using my boundaries to make it big and moon-like so no one would make themselves fall into an endless abyss?"

"You could've just made our new home smack dab in Popstar!"

"True, but where would the fun in that be~?" Yukari giggled, causing Reimu to sigh.

"Well, at least Sumireko can still get here…" Reimu mumbled.

Boundaries? Now you got me curious about you. Ford thought.

"So, would you mind if Ford stays here while he researches Gensokyo?"

Reimu rubbed her chin. "As long as he doesn't get in the way, he should be fine… hmmm…" She closed her eyes. He makes journal entries in Gensokyo, he publishes the journals and thousands of copies go to every known world… people will come in droves and then donate to the shrine!

Her eyes sparkled. Not to mention that Gensokyo is really popular with Hyrule because the Hylians are really invested in this place, especially that Zelda princess! And if those journal entries make the rounds over there… Ohohoho, jackpot~!

Yukari giggled. "Thinking with your donation box again~?"

"Huh?!" Reimu snapped out of it. "Wh-what exactly d-do you mean by that? I was just… uh… thinking of where to put him in one of the guest rooms! Yeah…"

Yukari giggled again. "Sure you were~"

Ford cleared his throat. "I will be making the proposal here, thank you." He said as he looked toward Reimu. "Considering Gensokyo potentially has Youkai that would prove to be… fatal for me, perhaps it would be wise if I could have my base of operations here at the shrine?"

"Oh, absolutely!" Reimu nodded. "However, in return of lodging, I expect help with various tasks around the shrine. Sweeping the grounds, repairing worn out structures, assisting with rituals, and just making sure everything is in good condition. And, there's a few… non-negotiable conditions. Basically, you need to adhere to the shrine's rules, such as a respectful silence during my rituals and not disturbing any of the sacred areas without permission. Plus, I don't want your research to interfere with my duties. Your work is to be conducted in a way that won't disrupt the daily life of the shrine or its visitors."

Ford smiled. "Fair enough. I can work with that." He said as the two shook on it.

"Now then, allow me to show-"

"Reeeiiimuuuuuuu!"

"Right on cue." Yukari chuckled, opening up a gap. "You kids have fun now~!" She said as she disappeared right as Marisa landed on the ground.

"You won't believe how Himiko is coming along with Alice. She's like the best-... oh, you got a boyfriend?"

Reimu blushed. "B-boyfriend?! He's way too old for me! …No offense."

"Don't worry about it."

"This is one of the guys from the Mystery Zone."

"Oh! How did I not recognize him?" Marisa smacked her head before approaching him. "Hellooooo-" She glanced at his belly. No pot belly… definitely not the con man. "-Journal Guy~!"

"I've seen you around the shop. Reimu, I had no idea you were actually friends with a witch."

"Well, technically, she's a magician but she dresses up like a witch sooo… kinda accurate?"

"Name's Marisa Kirisame, the badass magician of Gensokyo!" Marisa introduced before giving him a once over. "So what's with the six fingers? Better yet, what made you write those journal entries? Oh, and another thing, considering you have an extra digit, does that mean you have twelve fingers instead of ten? And another thing-"

"She's quite the curious one, isn't she?" Ford whispered.

"She'll talk your ear off. Get used to it." Reimu whispered back.

"Miss Kirisame. I'll be happy to answer all of your questions if you settled down."

"I'm perfectly settled… but okay! Lay it on me!"

Several questions answered later…

"Whooooa… that's so cool!" Marisa smiled. "Welp, I'm content now!"

"Like you usually are?" Reimu teased.

Marisa rolled her eyes with a chuckle before glancing over at Ford's journal. "Oh, doing more journal entries?"

"Yes. In fact, I recently made a journal entry on Flandre Scarlet."

"Oh, that's co-... FLANDRE?!" Marisa yelled. "She let you study her?"

"Indeed!"

"Whoa… that's cool!" Marisa then rubbed her chin in thought before grinning. "I know a few folk that you could possibly study."

"Oh?"

"Follow me!" Marisa took off running as Ford followed her.

"Oh boy…" Reimu clapped her hands together, quickly chanting some words as an invisible barrier surrounded Ford's body. "There we go. That should be enough to protect him from any shenanigans that she puts him through."

Reimu flew up in the air, looking to see where Marisa was taking him. "Oh, you're taking him to the Misty Lake? Mmm, eh, he'll be fine."

Once at the Misty Lake…

BGM: Argue For and Against (Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody)

"Wow, the lake's pretty impressive!" Ford said, watching the fairies go about their day without a care in the world.

"Yup!" Marisa nodded as Ford noticed some people actually swimming in the lake.

"Ah, I see some humans decided to take a dip in the lake."

"Actually, those are water based Faunus. Lobster, octopus, dolphin, you name it. Apparently a lot of Faunus decided to migrate to Gensokyo since they thought it was more peaceful and no Grimm would ever step foot in this place."

"Ah, so Faunus are populating Gensokyo?"

"Yeah. The humans at the human village think they're youkai so they keep a good distance from them in case they think the Faunus would… ya know, eat them like some Youkai do."

"I… can see that."

"Yeah, but the Faunus like it here and get along well with Youkai… especially the human eating ones." Marisa scratched her head. "Eh, it is what it is."

"Fascinating…" Ford wrote it down in his journal. "Faunus and man-eating Youkai get along… for what reason?"

"I dunno. They probably think they're fellow Youkai." Marisa shrugged. "Their semblances could come off as magical to them, so they don't really think much of it."

"Most intriguing!" Ford wrote it down… right up until several snowflakes flew by. "Hmm?"

"Hey you! What the heck are you doing standing around the lake!"

"Cirno, please…" A quieter fairy begged.

Pause BGM

"And here I was thinking we wouldn't run into the idiot…" Marisa shook her head as she and Ford looked up to see Cirno above them with her arms folded.

BGM: Beloved Tomboyish Girl (Touhou 12.3: Unthinkable Natural Law)

"You have some nerves of steel if you think you can waltz by without a fight, human! I am Cirno, the strongest fairy of Gensokyo… and I will-"

"Is she normally this boastful?" Ford asked.

"This is one of her better days, but… yes. Just play along."

"If you think you can withstand my attacks, you got another thing coming-"

"She'd do well in theatre." Ford whispered.

"She hams everything up."

"Now get a load of my strongest attack! PERFECT FREEEEEZE!"

A massive blizzard blew over them.

"My, this is quite the strong blizzard." Ford said.

"Ahhhh, nothing like beating the heat…" Marisa fanned herself.

"Come on, can't you use your magic somewhere else? I'm sunbathing over here!" A crab faunus complained.

"Cirno…" The other fairy groaned.

"Come on, Dai. The human is respecting my awesome power! …Marisa is also just a bonus."

"I think he's making a snow cone."

"HUH?!" Cirno turned her head as Ford had pulled out a styrofoam cup and filled it with snow and ice immediately.

"Hmm, now where could I find some blueberry? Or perhaps a raspberry swirl…"

A cross vein appeared on Cirno's forehead. "You little…!" She growled as she conjured up icicles and threw them at him, which didn't exactly hit him but it was enough to knock the fairy-made snowcone off of his hands.

"Oh! I guess I'll pass on that." He said.

"Alright…" Marisa hopped on her broom. "I'll handle this." She flew off toward Cirno. "Hey Cirno, c'mere a sec. I want to show you something cool!"

"Oh? I wanna see!" Cirno flew off after her.

Resume Argue For and Against BGM

"Are you okay?" The other fairy asked, flying closer.

"Oh, I'm all right. I'm assuming your friend is always like that?"

"Yes… she's always rather impulsive…" She said.

"I see. You have a name?"

"Daiyousei." She said gently before noticing some blood dripping from her hand. "Oh! You're bleeding…"

"Hmm? Oh, so I am. Guess I got nicked by an icicle and didn't realize."

Daiyousei gently took his hand. "Here, let me heal you…" She softly said, using her healing magic to repair his wound. The healing felt warm to the touch for him, causing him to smile.

"Ah, thank you, young lady."

Daiyousei smiled. "You're welcome~!"

"Hey Dai!" Marisa flew back. "You might wanna go check on your ice bestie back there."

"Ooooh… now what?" Daiyousei flew off.

"Soooo, Cirno-"

"-Is a complete idiot." Marisa said. "The sad thing is, she actually is the strongest of the fairies." Well, granted, there's Clownpiece…

"That's… admittedly terrifying if that's the best fairy Gensokyo has to offer."

"I mean, she has her moments when she helps out buuuuut… yeah…" Marisa scratched her head. "Come on, I'll show you somewhere else!"

Meanwhile…

"Oh no…" Daiyousei frowned as Cirno's feet were dangling out of a giant frog's mouth. "Not again…"

"Help me! It's so slimy and scary in here! There's frog mucus all over me!"

"Ain't my fault you're a moron." A frog faunus said, casually drinking sake.

Daiyousei sighed. "I'll help you out, Cirno."

Back with the duo…

"So where are we headed next?" Ford asked.

"You see that mansion over there? That's our next destination… the Scarlet Devil Mansion, to be exact."

"Oh, so this is Miss Scarlet's home?" Ford mused, curiously looking into it. "I have to say, the gothic architecture is quite appealing, if I'm being honest. Though the perpetual mist is… a bit intimidating."

"Ah, but that's just how it normally is around here." Marisa waved it off. "I know a way inside and-"

Suddenly, a knife appeared in front of her forehead.

"Wah!" Marisa yelped.

"Honestly, Marisa. I'd expect better of you to bring a stowaway with you." A voice said as the duo turned to see Sakuya standing in a previously empty spot.

Wasn't that spot empty just a second ago? Ford thought to himself.

"Ahehehe~ Uh… hey Sakuya…! I was just… showing him around!"

"Oh?" Sakuya looked toward Ford's direction. "You must be the author of those Journal entries."

"How'd you know?"

"I see you have six fingers, and the handprints on the copies have six fingers. It was easy to determine who you were."

Ford nodded. "You are quite perceptive."

"Indeed." Sakuya nodded. "If you are seeking an audience with my mistress, I will have to arrange a meeting with her. I will allow you to look around the gardens, but no further until you get special permission from Lady Remilia."

"I understand." Ford agreed.

"As for you-" Sakuya glanced over at Marisa. "Ever since Lady Patchouli's health has improved from her… unorthodox open heart transplant surgery, you will find that "borrowing" her books will prove to be challenging thirty-fold."

Marisa paled. "Thirty-fold?! Couldn't it be ten fold?"

"You wish I was exaggerating."

Marisa smirked cockily. "Well, whatever. A challenge is a challenge even if Patchy brought her A-Game! I'll just have to bring my SSS game!"

"The lowest game possible?"

"What? No! S is higher above A! It's a thing in Mobius!"

"Oh, but Marisa… we are not Mobius."

"Clearly!"

"I do enjoy your boundless enthusiasm, however."

"So, this "Patchouli" character, I can imagine she was ill for a time?"

"She was anemic for a long while, but when a certain doctor caught wind of her condition… she went through… shall we say, less conventional means of surgery. He had gotten on Lady Remilia's bad side and she has not yet forgiven him. He should consider himself lucky that she was in a positive mood earlier that day."

"I think I know what doctor you're referring to. My brother tends to be wary around him…" Ford nodded.

"It says a lot if a con artist is wary around a quack." Sakuya said as she guided them into the grounds of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, all the while Ford and Meiling shared a look, the former a bit wary while the latter looked at him quizzically while still on guard.

"Fascinating…" Ford mused as he walked around the gardens of the Scarlet Devil Mansion as Sakuya disappeared… all the while Marisa did her usual thing and snuck inside the building. Once I have permission, I can conduct a thorough research on the ins and outs of the mansion. It might be tricky though…

BOOOM!

"WAAAAAH!" Marisa yelled as she was launched out of the mansion and slammed into several rose bushes. "Owwwww!"

Patchouli walked out. "I'm assuming Sakuya warned you."

"Uuungh, I thought she was trying to scare me with that "thirty-fold"..."

"Oh, thirty-fold? I see she was being generous." Patchouli said as she glanced over to see Ford. "Oh, hey."

"Um, hi." Ford waved as Marisa pulled herself out with Koakuma's help.

"Ugh…" Marisa shook herself off, despite the many cuts she had on her skin from the thorns. "I'm glad Himiko wasn't with you… she's definitely taken a shine to you." She said, brushing her hat off before putting it back on.

"Hmm… ah, wait a moment. I remember seeing you two at the Mystery Zone one time."

"Indeed. I do not think we have been properly introduced. I am Patchouli Knowledge, and this is my assistant, Koakuma."

"Hello~!"

"And you are Stanford Pines."

"You'd be correct."

"And the both of us have read your journals from cover to cover. The third one was a major page turner." Patchouli explained.

Ford looked at her in surprise, pulling out the original Journal #3. "You two read my journals?"

Patchouli laughed softly as she summoned all three copies. "We haven't just read them… we studied them thoroughly! You have no idea how fascinated Koakuma and I have become with your research studies on the strange anomalies of Gravity Falls."

She magically lowered the third book and opened it, flipping the pages as she flipped it around to show off Bill Cipher. "Though, this Bill Cipher character… nearly bringing about the apocalypse with this "Weirdmageddon" in your world… that's a whole other level of chaos."

Ford frowned. "You have no idea, Ms. Knowledge."

"Oh, I'm sure the "Weirdmageddon" would be an ordinary Tuesday in Gensokyo." A voice said as they turned to see Remilia approaching with Sakuya accompanying her. "Actually, knowing how Remnant is an apocalypse magnet, I'm sure a Weirdmageddon wouldn't be out of the ordinary over there."

Ford sweatdropped. "Indeed…"

"So, what brings you to Gensokyo?" Remilia asked.

"Well, I've wanted to research the anomalies of Gensokyo after I had met one of your own. Flandre Scarlet."

"Ah, so you've met my younger sister? She's quite the character, isn't she?"

"That's one way of putting it." Ford nodded. "I'm assuming you're also familiar with this Yukari Yakumo."

"Oh, so she brought you here? That makes sense." Remilia nodded. "Regardless, I'm not surprised that you would want to explore the unique characteristics of Gensokyo. However, I'm not just going to allow you to roam around the Scarlet Devil Mansion just like that. I will need to take some time to… digest the fact that a researcher willingly came to Gensokyo and want to learn all of its secrets."

"You knew I wanted to research the mansion?"

"Sakuya implied it, yes."

"I see."

"Perhaps some day you'll explore the mansion, but not right now… in the meantime, you can research the rest of Gensokyo as you see fit."

"Very well. Thank you for your time." Ford nodded as he walked off, a bit disappointed but not surprised as he had a feeling the head of the Scarlet Devil Mansion would have said "no".

"Excuse me!" Patchouli spoke up as Ford turned around. "If… you don't mind, we could be your research partners as you explore Gensokyo just so you don't have Marisa constantly bugging you."

"Hey!"

"You and Koakuma?" Ford raised an eyebrow.

"Yes."

Ford smiled. "Of course. I humbly welcome you two aboard."

"Awesome!" Koakuma fist pumped, high fiving Patchouli.

"Now then, let us explore the rest of Gensokyo the best we can." Ford said as the two nodded.

A few nights later…

While Reimu was sitting on the roof gazing at the stars with some tea, Ford was busy reading what he had written down so far with his time in Gensokyo.

BGM: It Began With a Letter (Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix)

Gensokyo - Day One

Entry Date: June 5th

Upon arrival in Gensokyo, I found myself in a realm unlike any previously encountered—a landscape shaped like a moon orbiting Planet Popstar. It is most peculiar, given how the landscape is very Asian-like in nature.. The landscape presents a surreal blend of traditional Japanese countryside, dense forests, mystical lakes, and imposing mountains, all enveloped by an omnipresent sense of magic.

Spatial Anomalies

Gensokyo's geography exhibits disorienting characteristics: paths appear to shift, distances warp, and landmarks seem to relocate spontaneously. I attribute this phenomenon to the dense concentration of magical energy permeating the environment, suggesting that the very fabric of reality here is more fluid, allowing for occurrences that would be impossible elsewhere.

Boundary to the Neighboring Planet

Despite being a moon orbiting Popstar, there seems to be a naturally powerful barrier that is intricately linked to the Hakurei Shrine, a focal point of spiritual energy and the primary mechanism sustaining Gensokyo's separation. My entry into Gensokyo was by invite; it felt as though the boundary itself shifted, drawing me in. This raises questions regarding the barrier's stability and the forces governing its fluctuations. And yet… I've seen residents of Popstar going through this barrier as if it were nothing, especially to this pink creature known as Kirby. But I will get to him at a later entry.

Inhabitants

Youkai, Humans and Faunus

Gensokyo is home to a diverse population of beings, both human and non-human, with the most prominent non-human inhabitants being youkai—supernatural creatures possessing varying degrees of power and intelligence, and Faunus, people who migrated from Remnant to live a more peaceful life. Unlike in other worlds, where youkai exist only in legend, they are real and regularly interact with humans here. The relationship between humans and youkai is complex, upheld by tradition, mutual respect, and the intervention of powerful individuals such as Reimu Hakurei.

Humans

The human population within Gensokyo is sparse, concentrated in a few settlements. Despite living amidst powerful youkai, these humans exhibit remarkable adaptability, relying on spiritual practices and the protection of the Hakurei Shrine for safety. However, an underlying sense of vigilance persists, as they remain aware of the potential for the delicate balance between humans and youkai to shift at any moment.

Youkai

The youkai I have encountered range from mischievous tricksters to beings of immense power. Their abilities vary widely, with some capable of manipulating elements, space, or even time. Unlike humans, who are primarily concerned with survival, youkai appear to operate according to their own whims and desires, whether these involve gathering power, playing pranks, or existing harmoniously with nature.

Faunus

Amazingly, there is a large group of Faunus who live all over Gensokyo, having migrated to this place from Remnant to escape the horrors that are the Grimm, and possibly avoid yet another apocalyptic event that happens surprisingly every so often. Faunus tend to live in the lakes. Fox and wolf Faunus hang around the forests, especially in the Bamboo Forests. Dog and cat Faunus live in the Human Village. I have not been to the place known as "Hell", according to one of my research partners, but they said that the nocturnal Faunus reside there. And that is just the tip of the iceberg… but it is amazing that a lot of Faunus migrated to a more peaceful landscape. It is also amazing that Faunus and Youkai get along very well, including the man-eating ones. Perhaps the Youkai think the Faunus are fellow Youkai?

Magic and Energy

Ambient Magical Energy

Gensokyo's atmosphere is dense with magical energy, far exceeding that of the outside world. This pervasive energy influences all aspects of life, from the behavior of flora and fauna to the very structure of the land. It is as if magic here functions as a fundamental natural force, comparable to gravity or electromagnetism. I hypothesize that this abundant magical energy is what allows Gensokyo to sustain beings and phenomena that would be impossible elsewhere.

Spellcraft and Rituals

In Gensokyo, magic is both an art and a science. Observations of the youkai and humans reveal a level of spellcraft and ritual precision indicative of centuries of refinement. Here, magic is not merely ornamental but serves as a vital aspect of daily life, employed for purposes ranging from self-defense to environmental maintenance. The intricate balance between different magical forces is an area I intend to explore in greater detail. I have also observed that the Faunus participate in this as well.

The Nature of Gensokyo

Worlds Apart

Gensokyo operates under its own distinct set of rules, where the boundary between reality and fantasy is blurred. Concepts that would be considered impossible or nonsensical in the outside world function normally here. This realization has significant implications for my research into the nature of reality itself; Gensokyo may hold the key to understanding the mechanics of alternate dimensions and pocket realities. Of course, considering there are many worlds out there…

Temporal and Spatial Fluidity

Time and space in Gensokyo exhibit a fluidity not observed in the outside world. I have already experienced instances where time seemed to flow differently, either slowing or accelerating without apparent cause. Similarly, distances between locations appear to vary depending on the observer. This may be linked to the high concentration of magical energy or could represent a fundamental characteristic of Gensokyo itself.

Challenges Ahead

While Gensokyo presents immense opportunities for knowledge and power, it is equally fraught with danger. The balance between the human and youkai populations is delicate, with the potential for catastrophic consequences if disrupted. As an outsider, I must navigate this world with caution. My presence here is already an anomaly, and there is much to learn before I can hope to understand or influence the forces at play.

Final Reflections

My first day in Gensokyo has been both overwhelming and exhilarating. This world is a repository of immense knowledge, yet it is also a place where one misstep could lead to disaster. Moving forward, I must approach my exploration of Gensokyo with a careful balance of curiosity and caution, always mindful of the delicate equilibrium that sustains this world.

Luckily, Reimu Hakurei has been generous to help me get used to Gensokyo's anomalies. I will explain more about her and her fellow friends really soon.

Gensokyo - Day Two

Entry Date: June 6th

The Hakurei Shrine & Reimu Hakurei

The Hakurei Shrine occupies a pivotal role in Gensokyo, serving as both a physical and spiritual boundary between the human world and the supernatural realm, or it used to given how space time mumbo jumbo turned Gensokyo into a moon, I think the residents are still getting used to it.

Anyway, the Hakurei Shrine is located at the very edge of Gensokyo, (As "edgy" as a moon can possibly be) it is the principal point of contact between Gensokyo and Popstar. The shrine is under the guardianship of Reimu Hakurei, the current shrine maiden, whose responsibilities are essential for maintaining the delicate equilibrium between humans and youkai.

The Hakurei Shrine

Significance

The Hakurei Shrine functions as a potent spiritual barrier, preventing the energies and entities of Gensokyo from spilling out into Popstar and other worlds. It serves as the central hub for sustaining the boundaries that define Gensokyo, marking it as one of the most crucial locations within this world.

Spiritual Barrier

The shrine is imbued with ancient magic, much of which is intrinsically linked to the Hakurei bloodline. The spiritual barrier sustained by the shrine is a complex, multi-layered construct, capable of repelling even the most formidable youkai. Additionally, it appears to regulate the flow of spiritual energy in and out of Gensokyo, which may account for the distinctive atmosphere surrounding the shrine—an area that feels almost suspended between two worlds.

Physical Structure

The shrine itself is modest in size and unpretentious in appearance, a simplicity that belies its immense significance. Despite its humble exterior, the structure is sturdy, likely fortified by magical wards and barriers that are not immediately visible. While the shrine grounds are well-maintained, the shrine itself shows signs of age, suggesting either limited resources or a relaxed attitude towards its upkeep.

Reimu Hakurei – The Shrine Maiden

Reimu Hakurei, the current shrine maiden, is the primary guardian of the Hakurei Shrine. Her role involves maintaining the balance between the human and youkai populations of Gensokyo, resolving conflicts, and ensuring the integrity of the boundaries between worlds. Her duties frequently require her to perform exorcisms, engage in combat with troublesome youkai, and occasionally mediate between conflicting factions.

Reimu possesses a distinctive set of abilities, many of which are tied to her spiritual training and the legacy of the Hakurei bloodline. She demonstrates an almost instinctual mastery over spiritual barriers, flight, and the use of ofuda (paper talismans). Her most remarkable ability is the manipulation of the "fantasy nature" of Gensokyo, enabling her to manifest spiritual barriers and manipulate space in ways that defy conventional understanding.

Reimu presents as a calm, pragmatic individual, though her demeanor can occasionally come across as indifferent or even lazy. Despite this apparent nonchalance, she is highly effective in her role and exhibits an unwavering dedication to her duties as a shrine maiden. Her interactions with others are typically straightforward, and she does not hesitate to speak her mind, even when addressing powerful youkai. However, Reimu is not averse to seeking peaceful resolutions when possible, often preferring to avoid unnecessary conflict.

My interactions with Reimu have been polite yet measured. She remains understandably protective of the shrine and its secrets, with a sharp awareness of any attempt to delve too deeply. Nonetheless, she has been willing to share some insights into the workings of the shrine, though I suspect she withholds the most critical information—likely for good reason. Beneath her composed exterior lies a sharp intellect and a profound understanding of the balance she is tasked with maintaining.

Personal Notes:

-Reimu Hakurei commands respect, not only for her formidable abilities but also for her steadfast commitment to a role that demands constant vigilance and equilibrium.

-Her work is essential to the stability of Gensokyo, and any effort to disrupt that balance would likely be met with swift and decisive action.

-The Hakurei Shrine stands as the linchpin of Gensokyo's stability, with Reimu Hakurei as its vigilant protector. The power and importance of this site cannot be overstated—it is the heart of Gensokyo, both literally and figuratively. My interactions with Reimu have solidified my understanding that, although the shrine may appear small and isolated, its influence extends far beyond its physical confines.

Recommendations:

-It is imperative to maintain respectful relations with Reimu and the Hakurei Shrine.

-Any research or exploration concerning the shrine should be approached with caution, and ideally, with Reimu's approval.

-The stability of Gensokyo, and potentially more, depends on the continued integrity of the Hakurei Shrine.

Marisa Kirisame – The Travelling Witch

Marisa Kirisame stands out as one of Gensokyo's most prominent and intriguing figures. A self-taught magician with a keen interest in acquiring powerful artifacts and spells, Marisa is known for her resourcefulness and ambition. Her boldness, often verging on recklessness, frequently leads her into situations that others might wisely avoid. Nevertheless, Marisa's considerable abilities and determination ensure that she remains a formidable presence in Gensokyo.

Abilities and Skills

Magic and Combat

Marisa is a highly skilled magician, particularly adept in offensive magic, with a specialization in high-powered lasers and explosive spells. Her signature attack, the "Master Spark," epitomizes her raw magical power and her preference for direct, overwhelming force. Unlike many other magicians, Marisa relies heavily on sheer magical power rather than complex rituals or incantations, resulting in a combat style that is both straightforward and devastating.

Artifact Collection

Marisa is well-known for her tendency to "borrow" magical artifacts and books, often without the owner's consent. Her extensive collection of magical items and grimoires is both impressive and eclectic, encompassing a wide range of objects from across Gensokyo. This habit has earned her a reputation as something of a kleptomaniac, though it is evident that she genuinely values the knowledge and power these items provide.

Resourcefulness

One of Marisa's defining traits is her resourcefulness. Despite not being born with innate magical abilities, she has trained herself to become one of Gensokyo's most powerful magicians. Her ability to adapt, learn quickly, and devise creative solutions to challenges makes her a formidable adversary and an invaluable ally, depending on the circumstances.

Flight and Agility

Like many inhabitants of Gensokyo, Marisa possesses the ability to fly, typically utilizing her broomstick for transportation. She exhibits exceptional agility in the air, capable of executing complex maneuvers during combat. This, combined with her magical prowess, renders her a formidable opponent both on the ground and in the sky.

Personality and Behavior

Curiosity and Ambition

Marisa's insatiable curiosity drives much of her behavior. She is constantly in search of new knowledge, spells, and challenges. This relentless pursuit sometimes leads her into precarious situations, but it also fuels her growth as a magician. Marisa's ambition is closely tied to her desire to prove herself, both to others and to herself, pushing her to continually expand the boundaries of her abilities.

Recklessness

Marisa's boldness is a double-edged sword. Her willingness to take risks, often diving headfirst into dangerous situations without fully considering the consequences, has led to numerous successful ventures. However, it has also placed her in perilous situations that could have been avoided with a bit more caution.

Social Interactions

Marisa is generally friendly and outgoing, though her brash nature can sometimes be off-putting to others. She maintains a close friendship with Reimu Hakurei, although their differing personalities often lead to spirited disagreements. Despite her occasional lapses in judgment, Marisa is well-liked by those who know her, largely due to her energetic and straightforward demeanor.

My Interactions with Marisa

My initial encounter with Marisa was notably memorable. She approached me with an almost childlike curiosity, immediately bombarding me with questions about my work and the world from which I came. Her enthusiasm was infectious, though it was evident that she was assessing whether I possessed anything worth "borrowing." Despite her apparent lack of caution, it quickly became clear that Marisa is far more perceptive than she initially appears—her questions were probing, and she has an uncanny ability to discern what lies beneath the surface.

Marisa has a habit of appearing unexpectedly, particularly when she suspects that I have discovered something of interest. While she is always eager to learn, she is also very protective of her own knowledge and resources, often deflecting inquiries about her activities with a grin and a shrug. She has offered to "assist" me with my research on several occasions, though I suspect that her help would come with the price of a few missing artifacts.

Personal Notes:

-Marisa is someone to engage with carefully. Her curiosity and ambition make her a valuable source of information, but her tendency to take what she desires necessitates vigilance.

-While not malicious, Marisa has little regard for boundaries—both literal and metaphorical. Nevertheless, her energy and enthusiasm provide a refreshing contrast to the more reserved inhabitants of Gensokyo.

-Marisa Kirisame is one of the most dynamic and influential individuals in Gensokyo. Her relentless pursuit of knowledge and power drives her to constantly seek out new challenges, often placing herself at the center of events that others would prefer to avoid. While her methods may be unorthodox and her approach occasionally reckless, Marisa's resourcefulness and determination ensure that she remains a key figure within Gensokyo's magical community.

Recommendations:

-Interactions with Marisa should be approached with caution. While her knowledge and abilities are undeniably valuable, it is important to be prepared for her to push boundaries and take liberties.

-If she offers assistance, it is advisable to carefully weigh the potential benefits against the likelihood of unintended consequences—Marisa is as likely to create new challenges as she is to solve existing ones.

Staying at the Hakurei Shrine

During my research trip at Gensokyo, I found it necessary to establish a temporary yet proper base of operations. Given the central role of the Hakurei Shrine in Gensokyo's spiritual and geographical structure together with Yukari's help, I approached Reimu Hakurei with a proposal to stay at her shrine for the duration of my research. After some negotiation, we reached an agreement: in exchange for lodging, I would assist her with the maintenance and upkeep of the shrine. This arrangement has provided me with invaluable insights into the daily life of Gensokyo's most important shrine maiden, as well as a deeper connection to the spiritual heart of this mysterious world.

The Agreement

Terms of Stay

Reimu was surprisingly open to the idea of me staying at the shrine, provided that I contribute to its upkeep. The terms of our agreement are straightforward:

-Lodging: I am allowed to stay in one of the shrine's guest rooms, which, while modest, provides all the necessary comforts for my research activities.

-Assistance with Shrine Duties: In return for lodging, I am expected to help with various tasks around the shrine. These include sweeping the grounds, repairing worn-out structures, assisting with rituals, and generally ensuring the shrine remains in good condition.

Reimu's Conditions

Reimu was clear about a few non-negotiable conditions:

-Respect the Shrine's Rules: I must adhere to the shrine's rules, including maintaining a respectful silence during her rituals and not disturbing any of the sacred areas without permission.

-Limited Interference: While she welcomed my help, Reimu made it clear that she did not want my research to interfere with her duties. My work is to be conducted in a way that does not disrupt the daily life of the shrine or its visitors.

Personal Notes:

-The agreement is fair and mutually beneficial. It allows me close access to one of the most significant spiritual sites in Gensokyo while also providing Reimu with much-needed assistance.

-Given the sometimes chaotic nature of her duties, I believe my presence will be more of a help than a hindrance.

Life at the Hakurei Shrine

Daily Routine

Life at the Hakurei Shrine is a blend of quiet routine and sudden bursts of activity. The mornings are typically spent on basic maintenance tasks—sweeping the grounds, cleaning the shrine, and ensuring everything is for the day. Reimu handles most of the spiritual duties, such as performing rituals and attending to visitors, while I assist with the more mundane tasks.

Afternoons often involve more intensive work, such as repairing the torii gate, tending to the shrine's small garden, or preparing for upcoming festivals. Reimu occasionally enlists my help in preparing charms and ofuda, which has given me a fascinating glimpse into the practical applications of her spiritual power.

Evenings are generally quiet, with Reimu often taking time to relax or meditate. This is when I do most of my writing and analysis, taking advantage of the peaceful atmosphere to reflect on the day's observations.

My Interactions with Reimu

My interactions with Reimu have been cordial and professional. She is a woman of few words, but her actions speak volumes. Despite her often nonchalant demeanor, it is clear that she takes her duties as the shrine maiden seriously. Our conversations are usually brief and focused on practical matters, though she has occasionally shared insights into her work and the challenges she faces in maintaining the balance between humans and youkai in Gensokyo.

Reimu's direct and sometimes blunt communication style can be disarming, but it is also refreshing. She does not waste time with unnecessary formalities, which makes our collaboration straightforward and efficient.

Personal Notes:

-Reimu is a highly capable individual, and I find her pragmatic approach to life at the shrine both admirable and effective. While she may not always show it, I believe she appreciates the help, particularly when it comes to the more physically demanding tasks.

-Our working relationship has been smooth, and I am learning a great deal about the day-to-day operations of a shrine that serves as the spiritual backbone of Gensokyo.

Research Opportunities

Proximity to the Hakurei Barrier

Staying at the shrine has given me unparalleled access to the Hakurei Barrier, (With the help of Marisa letting me ride on her broom, as the barrier surrounds the stratosphere of Gensokyo… assuming it has a stratosphere) the mystical boundary that separates Gensokyo from the outside world. While I have not attempted to directly interfere with the barrier, observing its effects and Reimu's interactions with it has provided valuable data for my research into the nature of boundaries and barriers in Gensokyo.

The shrine itself is a focal point for spiritual energy, and being so close to it allows me to study how this energy is harnessed and directed. I have noted how Reimu draws upon the shrine's power during rituals, and I am beginning to understand the complex relationship between the shrine, the barrier, and the spiritual balance of Gensokyo.

Interactions with Shrine Visitors

The shrine attracts a variety of visitors, including humans and faunus seeking spiritual guidance and youkai with less clear intentions. Observing these interactions has given me insights into the social dynamics of Gensokyo, as well as the delicate balance that Reimu maintains between the human, faunus and youkai populations.

On several occasions, I have been able to engage with visitors, gaining additional perspectives on the spiritual practices and beliefs of Gensokyo's inhabitants. This has broadened my understanding of how different groups perceive and interact with the shrine and its maiden.

Personal Notes:

-The opportunity to live and work at the Hakurei Shrine is proving to be one of the most valuable aspects of my research trip.

-The insights I am gaining here are not only deepening my understanding of Gensokyo's spiritual landscape but also providing me with a unique perspective on the challenges faced by Reimu in her role as the shrine maiden.

My time at the Hakurei Shrine has been both productive and enlightening. The daily routines have grounded my research in the practical realities of shrine life, while the proximity to the Hakurei Barrier has allowed me to explore the theoretical aspects of my work in greater depth. Reimu's no-nonsense approach has created an environment where we can both focus on our respective duties without unnecessary distractions.

The exchange agreement has been mutually beneficial, providing me with a stable base of operations and giving Reimu the extra help she needs to maintain the shrine. I am grateful for her willingness to accommodate my presence and for the insights she has shared. This arrangement has strengthened my connection to Gensokyo's spiritual core, and I am confident that it will continue to yield valuable results as my research progresses.

Personal Notes:

Staying at the Hakurei Shrine has exceeded my expectations in every way. The blend of spiritual significance, practical duties, and close interaction with Reimu has created a rich environment for both research and personal growth.

I look forward to continuing this collaboration and uncovering more of the mysteries that lie at the heart of Gensokyo.

Recommendations:

-Continue to assist Reimu with shrine duties while using the opportunity to deepen research into the spiritual and boundary-related phenomena of Gensokyo.

-Respect the agreed-upon conditions and maintain the balance between research and contributing to the shrine's upkeep. The insights gained from this arrangement will be invaluable for understanding the broader dynamics at play within Gensokyo.

Cirno – The Idiotic Ice Fairy

Cirno (Pronounced Cheer-no) is a fairy native to the Misty Lake region of Gensokyo, often seen causing mischief and boasting about her self-proclaimed title as "the strongest." Despite possessing notable ice manipulation abilities, Cirno's intelligence—or lack thereof—renders her more of an annoyance than a legitimate threat. Her overconfidence and persistence, however, ensure that she remains a frequent, if frustrating, presence in the area.

Abilities and Behavior

Cryokinesis

Cirno has the ability to create and manipulate ice with a surprising level of proficiency for a fairy. She can freeze water, create ice barriers, and even encase small creatures in ice. However, her powers are primarily limited to small-scale effects and are typically deployed in a manner that reflects her lack of strategic thinking. Her use of cryokinesis is often haphazard and unplanned, consistent with her impulsive nature.

Overconfidence

Cirno's greatest flaw is her inflated sense of self-worth. She genuinely believes she is the "strongest" being in Gensokyo, despite numerous encounters that prove otherwise. This delusion of grandeur compels her to challenge far more powerful beings, usually resulting in her swift defeat. Remarkably, Cirno refuses to learn from these defeats, instead continuing to assert her superiority with undiminished enthusiasm. Honestly, even a Goomba learns from defeats better than her.

Behavioral Patterns

Cirno is impulsive and quick to act without considering the consequences. She takes particular pride in freezing frogs, an activity that seems to be her primary source of entertainment. This juvenile behavior underscores her mental immaturity, further exacerbated by her constant need to prove herself. Cirno frequently engages in pointless battles, convinced that each trivial victory validates her belief in her own strength.

Interactions with Cirno

My first encounter with Cirno was exasperating. She attempted to freeze me on sight, declaring herself the "strongest" before launching a poorly conceived attack. While her ice manipulation was somewhat impressive, her tactics were laughably ineffective. After easily evading her attempts, (As in: I just stood still), Marisa took her somewhere while I interacted with her shy friend.

Unfortunately, Cirno has a tendency to appear at the most inconvenient times, often interrupting my research with her antics. Each encounter follows a predictable pattern: Cirno spots a potential "opponent," declares her strength, and proceeds to demonstrate her abilities in the most reckless manner possible. While she is easily outmaneuvered, her persistence and inability to understand her own limitations make her a recurring irritation.

Personal Notes:

-Cirno embodies the most frustrating traits of a persistent nuisance—oblivious to her own limitations, impervious to reason, and relentless in her attempts to prove herself. Her presence serves as a reminder that not all beings in Gensokyo offer intellectual stimulation.

-For the most part, dealing with Cirno requires either a great deal of patience or a quick exit strategy.

-Honestly, a Goomba or a rock is smarter than this girl.

Potential Threat

Cirno's threat level is minimal, largely due to her lack of intelligence and poor decision-making. While her ice manipulation could pose a danger in specific contexts, her inability to think strategically renders her ineffective against prepared opponents. However, her persistence and overconfidence could lead to more serious consequences if she were to encounter something truly dangerous without understanding it.

From a scientific perspective, Cirno's abilities could be worth studying, were it not for her frustrating personality. Her ice manipulation is relatively advanced for a fairy, indicating a strong connection to elemental magic. However, any attempt to engage her in meaningful research is likely to be derailed by her constant need to prove her strength, making the collection of reliable data difficult.

Cirno is, in many respects, the epitome of an overconfident child with more power than sense. While her abilities should not be entirely dismissed, her lack of intelligence and reckless behavior make her more of a persistent annoyance than a genuine threat. Engaging with Cirno is often an exercise in patience and futility, as she is unlikely to ever comprehend her own limitations.

Recommendations:

-Best to avoid unnecessary interaction with Cirno. Although her abilities may hold some academic interest, the frustration of dealing with her far outweighs any potential benefits.

-If interaction is unavoidable, it is advisable to humor her delusions of grandeur long enough to disengage without provoking further displays of her "strength."

-Remind myself that she's dumber than a Goomba and it will definitely improve my mood.

Daiyousei – The Quiet Fairy

Daiyousei is a relatively lesser-known fairy who frequents the area around Misty Lake, often seen in the company of the more notorious ice fairy, Cirno. In stark contrast to Cirno's loud and boastful nature, Daiyousei is quiet, gentle, and much more reserved. Although she lacks the raw power or ambition evident in some of Gensokyo's other inhabitants, her calm demeanor and subtle abilities suggest a deeper connection to nature and a latent potential for magic that is easily overlooked.

Abilities and Behavior

Minor Healing Magic

Daiyousei exhibits a limited but notable proficiency in healing magic, a rarity among fairies who often focus on elemental manipulation. She can heal minor injuries and restore some vitality, though the extent of her power appears modest. This ability likely reflects her close ties to the natural world, allowing her to draw upon the ambient magical energy present in Gensokyo's environment.

Behavioral Patterns

Unlike many other fairies, particularly Cirno, Daiyousei is far less impulsive. She prefers to observe from a distance rather than engage in direct conflict or mischief. This makes her a less disruptive and more passive presence in Gensokyo. Her interactions with others are typically cautious and polite, displaying a level of social awareness that is uncommon among her kind.

Timidity and Caution

Daiyousei is notably more timid than many of her peers, often deferring to stronger or more assertive individuals like Cirno. While this may be a survival strategy, it also indicates a keen awareness of her own limitations and a preference for avoiding unnecessary risks. This cautious approach to life in Gensokyo is both a strength and a weakness—it helps her stay safe, but it also limits her potential for growth and development.

My Interactions with Daiyousei

My first encounter with Daiyousei was refreshingly uneventful, especially compared to my experiences with other inhabitants of Gensokyo. Initially, she watched from a distance as I conducted my research near Misty Lake, (Not to mention Cirno being dumber than a brick wall) hesitant to approach. After some time, (And Marisa leading Cirno away) she cautiously came forward, offering assistance in a soft, almost apologetic manner. Unlike other fairies, she did not seek to prove herself or challenge me but instead seemed genuinely curious and interested in understanding my activities.

Daiyousei has occasionally appeared during my time in Gensokyo, usually observing quietly from the periphery of my activities. She rarely engages directly but is never disruptive. On one occasion, she offered to help heal a minor injury I sustained during an encounter with an ice fairy with an IQ of -100. Her healing ability, though limited, was effective enough to alleviate the pain and expedite my recovery.

Personal Notes:

-Daiyousei is a breath of fresh air in a world filled with loud and overconfident beings. While her abilities are modest, her gentle nature and willingness to assist without seeking attention or validation make her a pleasant and welcome companion during my research.

-Although she lacks the raw power or ambition to be a key figure in Gensokyo, her quiet strength lies in her kindness and her deep connection to the natural world.

-Smarter than Cirno.

Potential Threat

Threat Level

Daiyousei poses virtually no threat. Her abilities, while useful, are not offensive in nature, and her personality is too reserved to initiate conflict. She is more likely to avoid danger than confront it, making her one of the least aggressive and most benign inhabitants of Gensokyo.

Research Opportunities

Although Daiyousei's abilities are limited, they offer a unique opportunity to study the more subtle aspects of Gensokyo's magical ecosystem. Her healing magic, though modest, could provide valuable insights into the relationship between fairies and the natural energies they harness. Additionally, her cautious approach to life in Gensokyo offers a perspective on survival strategies among weaker entities in a world fraught with danger.

Daiyousei represents the quieter, more peaceful side of Gensokyo. Despite her lack of ambition or significant power, she embodies a rare gentleness in a land often defined by conflict. Her healing abilities, though not extraordinary, serve as a reminder that not all magic in Gensokyo is centered on combat or power. Her presence is soothing rather than disruptive, making her a valuable, if understated, presence in the region.

Recommendations:

-There is no need for caution when interacting with Daiyousei. She is unlikely to cause trouble and may even offer assistance if approached with kindness.

-While she may not be a significant figure in the grand scheme of Gensokyo, her peaceful nature, and quiet strength make her a valuable ally for those who appreciate the softer side of magic and life.

Subsequent Interactions with Cirno & Daiyousei

Following my initial encounters with Cirno and Daiyousei, I have had several additional interactions that have deepened my understanding of their personalities, abilities, and the dynamics of their relationship. While Cirno continues to be a source of both frustration and amusement, Daiyousei has proven to be a calming and stabilizing presence. Together, they represent two contrasting aspects of fairy nature—Cirno's brash confidence and Daiyousei's quiet support.

Cirno – The Persistent Ice Fairy

Perceived Persistence

Cirno's persistence remains one of her most defining traits. She continues to challenge me—both directly and indirectly—whenever our paths cross. These challenges typically involve some form of ice-based trickery or outright attempts to prove her strength. Despite her repeated failures, she remains undeterred. I have come to respect her relentless confidence, even if it is rooted in a fundamental misunderstanding of her limitations.

Learning Through Failure

Despite her bluster, Cirno seems to be learning from her repeated defeats, albeit at a slower pace than one might hope. She has begun to incorporate new strategies into her attempts to best me, indicating that she is capable of learning and adapting, though she would never admit it. For instance, during one encounter, she attempted to combine her ice powers with an ambush-based approach. Although still ineffective, this demonstrated a level of tactical thinking that I had not previously observed.

Personal Notes:

-Cirno continues to be a source of exasperation, but also a peculiar form of inspiration. Her unyielding self-confidence and relentless spirit are qualities that, under different circumstances, could make her a formidable force.

-I find myself curious about how she might evolve over time, even if dealing with her remains a test of my patience.

-Okay, seriously, she cannot be this idiotic.

Daiyousei – The Quiet Stabilizer

Continued Support

Daiyousei remains a calm and supportive presence, often accompanying Cirno during our encounters. While she rarely takes center stage, her influence on Cirno is noticeable. She seems to act as a moderating force, subtly guiding Cirno away from her most reckless impulses. This dynamic suggests that Daiyousei, though less assertive, possesses a quiet strength that balances Cirno's more chaotic energy.

Growing Confidence

Interestingly, I have noticed that Daiyousei's confidence has begun to grow. In our more recent interactions, she has been more willing to engage in conversation and offer her own observations. Her insights, though modest, are often surprisingly astute, particularly regarding the natural environment and the behavior of other fairies. She has also become more comfortable in her role as Cirno's companion, occasionally stepping in to prevent Cirno from getting too carried away.

Personal Notes:

-Daiyousei continues to impress me with her gentle but steady presence. While she lacks the brashness of Cirno, her quiet support and growing confidence suggest a depth of character that is easy to overlook.

-She may never seek the spotlight, but her influence on Cirno and her own gradual development make her an intriguing subject of study.

Interactions and Observations

Dynamics Between Cirno and Daiyousei

The relationship between Cirno and Daiyousei is one of contrasts, yet they clearly complement each other well. Cirno's boldness is tempered by Daiyousei's caution, while Daiyousei seems to gain strength from Cirno's unshakable confidence.

This dynamic creates a balance that allows them to function more effectively together than they might alone. Daiyousei's stabilizing influence is particularly evident in how she often intervenes to prevent Cirno from overreaching, though she does so in a manner that Cirno accepts without resistance.

Impact on My Research

While Cirno's antics are often disruptive, they have provided unexpected insights into the resilience and adaptability of fairies. Her ability to recover from failure and maintain her self-confidence, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, is a testament to the psychological robustness of fairies in Gensokyo.

Daiyousei's presence offers a counterpoint, showcasing the more introspective and community-oriented aspects of fairy life. Together, they provide a fuller picture of fairy society and behavior.

Personal Notes:

-Interacting with Cirno and Daiyousei continues to be a mixed experience. Cirno's persistent challenges are as tiring as they are entertaining, while Daiyousei's calming influence offers a much-needed balance.

-I find that my respect for both has grown, though for very different reasons. They represent two sides of the same coin—Cirno's unyielding determination and Daiyousei's quiet strength. Together, they make for a fascinating pair, one that I will continue to observe with interest.

-I just want to note that it's ironic that I have a grown respect for Cirno given her… extremely questionable IQ.

Cirno and Daiyousei have proven to be an intriguing study in contrasts. Cirno's boldness and Daiyousei's caution create a dynamic that is as educational as it is unpredictable. While Cirno remains a source of frustration, her persistence and growing adaptability hint at potential beyond her current capabilities. Daiyousei, on the other hand, continues to grow in confidence, providing a stabilizing force that makes their partnership more effective than it might initially appear.

Recommendations:

-Continue to engage with Cirno and Daiyousei, observing how their dynamic evolves.

-Cirno's development, in particular, should be monitored for signs of growth beyond her current limitations, while Daiyousei's quiet influence may reveal further insights into the nature of fairy relationships in Gensokyo.

-Despite the challenges posed by Cirno's behavior, these interactions offer valuable perspectives on resilience, adaptability, and the power of quiet support.

Personal Notes:

-While Cirno's challenges will likely continue, I find myself increasingly intrigued by the potential for growth in both her and Daiyousei.

-Their evolving relationship and the balance they provide each other offer a unique window into the complexities of fairy life.

-I will continue to study them, not just for what they can teach me about fairies, but also for the unexpected lessons they offer in resilience and companionship.

Gensokyo - Day Three

Entry Date: June 7th

The Scarlet Devil Mansion

The Scarlet Devil Mansion is a sprawling, gothic edifice that stands as one of the most enigmatic and dangerous locations in Gensokyo. Located near Misty Lake, the mansion is perpetually shrouded in mist, creating an eerie, almost otherworldly atmosphere. Home to several powerful and mysterious beings, the mansion itself is imbued with magic, making it more than just a residence—it is a fortress that defies conventional understandings of space and time.

The Mansion Itself

Architecture and Atmosphere

The Scarlet Devil Mansion is an imposing structure, exuding an air of ancient power and wealth. Its distinctly European architecture, with tall spires, elaborate stonework, and vast, darkened halls, evokes the gothic castles of the 15th century, yet it exists within the surreal and secluded world of Gensokyo. Unfortunately, I was not allowed entry inside the mansion the day I arrived in Gensokyo, so I do not know what it is on the inside. The exterior however. despite its grandeur, the mansion exudes a cold, foreboding atmosphere, amplified by the pervasive mist that surrounds it.

I will discuss more in great detail as soon as I am allowed inside the mansion

Magical Properties

The mansion is saturated with magical energy, influencing its structure and the behavior of those (presumably) within it. * More Details soon *

The Misty Lake surrounding the mansion perpetually shrouds the structure in thick fog, further complicating any attempts at cartography or direct observation. This fog seems to possess supernatural properties, likely serving as a defensive measure to deter unwanted visitors.

Inhabitants of the Mansion

Remilia Scarlet – The Scarlet Devil

Species: Vampire

Abilities: Manipulation of fate, enhanced physical abilities, near-immortality.

Remilia Scarlet is the head of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and the most powerful being within its walls. As a vampire of ancient lineage, she possesses immense strength, speed, and the ability to manipulate fate itself. My limited interactions with Remilia have been marked by a curious blend of politeness and underlying menace. She carries herself with the air of an aristocrat, commanding respect and exuding a sharp intellect. Yet, there is always a sense that she is playing a game with those around her, one in which she holds all the cards.

Remilia is not to be underestimated. Her power over fate makes her a formidable opponent, and her deep knowledge of the mansion's secrets ensures she remains in control of any situation within its walls. Though cordial during our encounters, I remain acutely aware of the potential danger she represents, especially if provoked.

Flandre Scarlet - Sister of the Scarlet Devil

Species: Vampire

Abilities: Destroying absolutely anything, enhanced physical abilities, near-immortality

Flandre Scarlet is the younger sister of the head of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and more than likely stronger than her. She has the natural ability to destroy everything around her. Apparently, she does this by searching the object's "eye" and with a clench of the fist, she destroys it. I do not know what she means by "eye", but if it's an actual eye… we probably could have used her assistance against Bill Cipher in Gravity Falls. But I digress.

She also has supernatural talent regarding hand to hand combat, especially when she can enhance herself with her Lavatein. Her strength is practically inhuman. And yet, she has a playful side to her, almost child-like at best. She does seem to be sensitive when calling her a demon as she insists on being called a vampire. Her wings are crystal-like as they remind me of Christmas ornaments that you see on Christmas Trees.

There is something about Flandre that is… overwhelming. I can sense raw power from her just by being around her, almost like it is unstable. It does not help that she calls herself the "Mentally Unstable Vampire". I wonder if she just says that just to mess with folks. Regardless, caution should be of the utmost importance around her, just in case. Otherwise, she might search for your "eye" and destroy you.

Sakuya Izayoi – The Perfect and Elegant Maid

Species: Human (or so she claims)

Abilities: Manipulation of time, expert knife-wielding skills.

Sakuya Izayoi is the head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and one of the most formidable individuals in Gensokyo. Her ability to manipulate time gives her an almost supernatural advantage in both combat and daily life, allowing her to perform her duties with inhuman precision. My encounters with Sakuya have been unnerving, as she consistently seems to be one step ahead, fully aware of every detail long before I am. Her loyalty to Remilia is unwavering, and her calm, almost emotionless demeanor suggests a depth and complexity that remain largely hidden.

Sakuya is an enigma, her time-manipulating abilities making her an extremely dangerous opponent. Her loyalty to Remilia implies that she would not hesitate to use her powers to protect the mansion. Any study of her abilities must be approached with the utmost caution and discretion.

Patchouli Knowledge – The Reclusive Scholar

Species: Human (Magician)

Abilities: Mastery over elemental magic, extensive knowledge of arcane arts.

Patchouli Knowledge is the mansion's resident scholar and librarian, spending most of her time within the vast library that occupies a significant portion of the mansion. A magician of great intellect and power, Patchouli specializes in elemental magic and the arcane arts. My interactions with her have been brief but informative. She is reclusive and somewhat aloof, more interested in her studies than in socializing. However, her knowledge of magic is unparalleled, and she has been surprisingly willing to share information, though always on her own terms.

Patchouli's once frail health belies the immense power she wields. Her library is a treasure trove of arcane knowledge, but it is also heavily protected by both her magic and the labyrinthine nature of the mansion. Gaining her trust may be key to unlocking the mansion's secrets, but it will require patience and tact.

Koakuma - The Scholar's Devil

Species: Devil (Or Imp?)

Abilities: Unknown

Koakuma is Patchouli's assistant, and judging by their interactions, they seem to be really good friends. However, getting to know her is a task in of itself since she keeps everything a secret. Only Patchouli knows her true self, yet keeps it a secret.

That said, Koakuma is very friendly and will be happy to assist you if she's not helping Patchouli with something. There's an air of mystery around her, but I unfortunately cannot get a good read on her. Apologies.

Hong Meiling – The Gatekeeper

Species: Youkai

Abilities: Mastery of martial arts, chi manipulation.

Hong Meiling serves as the gatekeeper of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, a role she fulfills with a laid-back attitude that belies her formidable abilities. She is a skilled martial artist, capable of channeling her chi to enhance her strength and agility. My encounters with Meiling have been straightforward—she is friendly and approachable, often seen napping at her post. However, this should not be mistaken for laziness; Meiling is more than capable of defending the mansion when necessary.

Meiling's relaxed demeanor is deceptive. While she may appear easygoing, she is fully aware of her surroundings and can spring into action with remarkable speed. Underestimating her would be a grave mistake.

The Scarlet Devil Mansion is a microcosm of Gensokyo's most powerful and enigmatic forces. Each inhabitant is a formidable entity in their own right, and the mansion itself seems to amplify their strengths. My time here has been both enlightening and unnerving, as the mansion's secrets are closely guarded by its residents. While they have been civil—if not exactly welcoming—I am acutely aware that my presence is tolerated rather than embraced. The Scarlet Devil Mansion is a place of immense power, and any further exploration must be conducted with the greatest caution.

Recommendations:

-Further study of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and its inhabitants is warranted but should be approached with extreme care.

-The balance of power within the mansion is delicate, and any misstep could have dire consequences.

-Maintain respectful relations and avoid unnecessary provocation.

Tomorrow, I will explore the vast world of the Netherworld. I've heard a great deal about this Youmu Konpaku and Yuyuko Saigyouji. I wonder what it will entail…

End BGM

Ford nodded, putting his pencil away as he got up and walked out to stretch, closing his eyes to enjoy the brisk night air.

"Excuse me, Mr. Pines?"

Fore opened his eyes, seeing Sakuya approaching him. "Ms. Izayoi? This is a surprise."

"Indeed. I have come to deliver a message."

"Hmm?"

"Mistress Remilia would like to have some afternoon tea with you tomorrow. She will want to discuss with you about research regarding the Scarlet Devil Mansion."

"Very well. I will make my way to the mansion tomorrow."

"Three PM sharp. Don't be late." Sakuya then disappeared.

"Three PM. Good to know." Ford nodded as he closed his eyes, all the while Reimu had eavesdropped on the conversation, letting out a chuckle.

"Someone's popular."

Shout out to Yuri on this Gaiden idea!

So uh... that Indie Direct/Partner Showcase was sure something, wasn't it? Pizza Tower on the Switch (That I can now look into because my Chromebook isn't much of a gaming computer. Can't even install Steam on this thing...), Castlevania DS Collection, Yakuza, a whole Tetris collection, Atelier (I've never looked into this series, but the new trailer looked interesting!), Worms... you name it. Definitely one of their stronger ones! (As I have the opinion that Partner Showcases are often always a miss and Indie Directs are "meh" at best.)

Ibuki: Pizza Tower! Woo! Chiaki-chan loves that game!

Also, HOLY SHIT, THE SONIC 3 TRAILER WAS AMAZING AS HELL.

Deadpool: It's gonna be a blast!
