Chapter 9: The Renaissance Sleepover
One hot third Saturday of April 2025, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri along with some of my other friends Carly Shay and Spencer Puckett, as well as Carly's stepdad, Freddie Benson, in downtown Pittsburgh for Samantha Carson's Renaissance Sleepover. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. The itinerary was a Pirates game at PNC Park followed by crafts, indoor and outdoor games, and dinner at the Renaissance hotel. We jammed out to Kate Bush, Lizzo, and the Pop2Kountdown from 2005. "I can't believe it," I stated. "God must have answered my prayers because 2005 is featured in the Pop2Kountdown and that was what both April of 2015 and 2019 were like!" I also was tempted to look at the Mifflins' journal entries from 2019 during Abigail's senior year of high school and freshman year of colllege, Hannah's 7th and 8th grade years, and Samantha's 3rd and 4th grade years. "Happy Easter, Mr. Benson!" Henri stated. "Thanks, Henri," Mr. Benson exclaimed. "On a normal Easter, we would be visiting our relatives in Polish Hill, but we are happy to be downtown." "This is nowhere near the end of our activities together, Spencer," James happily stated. "No, it is not, James," Spencer agreed. "It is just the beginning." "It felt weird to see Deborah again at PNC Park, Carly," Sarah stated. "She was the one who helped me out with my Earth Day project as that is just around the corner and we will be having our water balloon fight in McCandless for the 3rd year in a row." "That's right, Sarah," Carly stated. "The pizza and ice cream here remind me of what I ate when visiting with Angel one last time at Edinboro University." "This is something that I will have to think about as I do Childhood Chats featuring Other Areas on this date in April since both 2015 and 2019 won," I stated. "They have typically been in Ross Township or the northern suburbs, and that is where our next spring and summer activity will be- in McCandless! Maybe, we will see our eldest female clients there on Tuesday." Pretty soon, it was time for all of us to go to bed. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
