Melody Rescue arc Episode Ten: What We Want

Continuing from where the previous chapter left off, Wave was staring directly at the fate Emma was granted by Zuma. Everything she felt as she did was spiraling in her head. The moment Slash sliced HER arm off. The fact that Zuma of all pups would do this. The fear she felt over what might go down when she and Snow find him. Images of all of the kills Zuma was responsible for, even his kill on Cliff surrounded her mind. Snow noticed her walking over to the wall, where she placed her paw. Snow tried to help until Wave started breathing quickly.

Snow stayed back, but remained in vicinity of Wave, knowing getting too close would make this worse. Wave continued to hyperventilate, trying to stay standing as she did. That was when Snow offered her paw. "Wave." Wave looked at Snow, who waited patiently for Wave to accept. "Take my paw." Wave's breathing started slowing down a little upon seeing Snow. She took a step forward, trying to calm herself down. After a few more steps, she accepted Snow's paw.

Wave took a few more seconds to fully calm down. Snow placed another paw over hers, rubbing it gently. Once Wave was fully calm, Snow checked on her. "You okay sweetheart?"

Wave was at least calm enough to talk now. That was enough for her to give Snow reassurance. "Okay enough to talk now." Snow listened as Wave explained what happened. "I started thinking about so much stuff just now. Especially what happened to my old arm." Wave looked at her automail arm, clenching her fist before moving her gaze to Emma. "To even think that Zuma did it too, it... gave me such intense flashbacks. Even after his other kills, this one hit me so much harder."

"Hey, it's okay. I understand." Snow assured Wave, knowing why this affected her so much more. "Take as much time as you need."

"I'll be able to move soon. We have to move fast anyway, after all." Wave assured Snow, and then she smiled gratefully for the assist. "Thanks Snowflake. I didn't think I'd be having a panic attack during this mission."

Snow smiled back, glad she was able to help Wave. "This mission has been full of surprises. I get it." Snow looked at Emma, and then back at Wave. She knew it wouldn't be safe for them to rest here. "The day's almost over. Let's figure out where Zuma went and pick a safe place to rest." Wave and Snow held paws as they went over to Emma's body. They quickly noticed how Emma was pointing to the southwest. "You think that's just a coincidence? Or something we can go off of?"

"Most likely the latter." Wave answered, pointing to the hole Zuma made before he left the building. "Maybe that hole adds to the idea?"

Snow took out her device and scanned Emma, showing her last moments before Zuma killed her. Surely enough, she caught the moment Emma told Zuma where to go. And the way he killed her. Wave and Snow's concern was as high as it could get at this point. They knew they had to take any measures necessary to stop Zuma from continuing to go too far. Outside of kill him, they hoped. "Yep. The hole doesn't lie." Wave and Snow ran for the hole to start tracking Zuma down. "We should update Marshall, Claw, and Charm as soon as we can.

"Couldn't agree more." Wave responded, running off with Snow in the direction Emma pointed to. They knew they could cover at least some distance before they had to sleep.

The next day, the two statues of the Last Coast were shown in all their glory. The right was of a kraken, and the left was of a siren; two incredibly dangerous sea creatures. They were incredibly tall statues, fitting for the heights of the mountain they were a part of. Zuma was just arriving at the Last Coast, skidding to a stop once he reached the water. He observed the Last Coast, first spotting the large body of water in front of him. This would be helpful if he somehow ran out of his own water. Not that that's been a problem for him so far.

Next, he looked up at the statues. Surely enough, they matched the image he saw back at the technology area's base. "Gotta give it to Emma. She didn't use her last action to lie to me." Zuma started running on the water, making his way over to the mountain to get a full view scope of the area. Once he reached the mountain, he started running up it until he reached the top. That was when he jumped onto the kraken statue. He started looking around after taking out a telescope.

Once Zuma started looking through the telescope, he began scouring the different spots of the area. In between all of the trees and wildlife, he spotted a big base. He knew in an instant that this had to be Bloodfreak's. After putting the telescope away, Zuma jumped off of the kraken statue and slid down to the side of its arm. Since the arm he slid down was connected to the mountain, he was still high up. That would give him time to stop anyone who got in the way of his plans. He knew he couldn't just rush into this. So he needed time to plan ahead.

Zuma sat down and started thinking up strategies for how he could save Melody. 'Don't wowwy Melody. Big bwothew's not gonna wisk his wescue plan huwting you.'

Wave and Snow were moving as quickly as they could to reach the Last Coast. On the way there, Wave took a moment to address a concern Snow had the other day. "I never apologized last night."

"For having a panic attack?" Snow asked, unsure of what Wave could be referring to.

"For stopping you from sharing your concerns about something." Wave corrected, helping Snow remember what happened just before the panic attack. "I've known you long enough to know it's something important. Do you still want to talk about it?"

Snow breathed in through her nose and out from her mouth. She figured now was as good of a time as any. "It's about how far Zuma's been going to save Melody. I started thinking about what would've happened if it was Everest who got captured instead." Wave listened carefully, sensing that this was a great concern of Snow's. "Do you think that if I were in Zuma's paws... I'd go as far as he is now?"

Wave had to think about that one. This directly related to one thing Snow had in common with Zuma: Their devotion to their sister. So Wave didn't think it was out of the question that she'd go to extremes. "I don't see why it's impossible. But it's your sister. Anyone would go to some kind of extreme to save their sibling."

"Okay, sure. But how do you know I wouldn't go TOO far?" Snow asked, elaborating on her concerns as they ran. "The extent Zuma's going to... it terrifies me. And even if Bloodfreak is as nasty as he was during Zuma's gang days, I don't want to rise to that level of coldness and brutality." Snow clenched her fists, and Wave could feel how tense she was becoming. "I know I'm angrier than Zuma is normally. So I know I can't avoid getting violent. I just don't want to lose myself. And I need to know that I could be stopped from going that far down."

"Snowflake." Wave said tenderly, allowing Snow to look at her. She gave a caring smile, showing that she'd be right there for Snow no matter what. "If it gets to that point, I'll be there to save you. Like we are for Zuma right now." Snow listened intently to Wave's pure words. "Even if you pushed me away, or hurt me, I'd never give up on you."

Snow always appreciated Wave's kind words. But would they be enough to save her? "And that's one of the main reasons I love you. But would it be enough?"

"You said it yourself. It helped a great deal with Charm, even though I couldn't empathize with him." Wave reminded Snow in a callback to her advice. "Why shouldn't it be the same for the Canine I love?"

Snow felt enlightened by Wave's words. It helped her a lot in staying focused. And now, she'd be ready for Zuma. "Thank you Wave."

"Of course. I'll always be there for you. No matter what." Wave assured Snow. "Even if you're the last snowflake to fall."

Wave and Snow continued running, only for a screw to fly right past them! The two stopped just in time with the screw stopping right next to them as it hit the ground. They looked to the right, where Rocky was watching them. Snow quickly questioned why he fired at them. "Rocky!? What are you doing!?"

"Stopping you from intruding on Zuma's mission." Rocky answered before jumping off the tree branch. Once he landed, he walked over to Wave and Snow. "Zuma wants to do this on his own. And I'm going to make sure he sees it through."

Wave and Snow shared a gaze before Wave tried to talk some sense into Rocky. "Rocky, you've been with him this whole time. You had to have seen what he did to those gang members."

"It's nothing Bloodfreak's a stranger to." Rocky said in reference to torture and brutal deaths. "I came to request that you leave Zuma to do this himself. I take it your answer is no?" Wave and Snow gave a nod in response. That was enough to put Rocky on the offensive. He got ready to charge at Wave and Snow with some of his bolts. "Very well then. I'm sorry to do this." Rocky charged at Wave and Snow, and Wave readied her defense. However, Snow surprised her by putting up a barrier. This blocked Rocky's punch, and he started observing the barrier.

Rocky started planning a way to break the barrier as Snow gave Wave a command. "Wave. Go after Zuma."

"But what about you?" Wave asked, knowing Rocky could easily outsmart Snow.

"I can handle Rocky on my own." Snow assured Wave as Rocky started readying his bolt. Once he started adding some more power and electricity to it, Snow repeated the words Charm and Marshall shared before. "Someone has to go after Zuma. Might as well be someone who can beat him."

Wave saw Snow's point, sharing a kiss with her before running off. "I'll run as soon as you remove the barrier." Snow nodded, preparing herself as Wave got into position.

As soon as Snow put the barrier down, Rocky fired the bolt. It almost hit Wave, but she dodged it just in time by front flipping over it. Once she ran off, Rocky attempted to chase after her, only for Snow to stop him by tripping him with the grass. Rocky shot a bolt at the grass, cutting it instantly. That was when Snow informed him that she wouldn't be letting him go after Wave. "You're clearly missing some screws Rocky." Rocky glared at Snow, who cracked her fists in preparation for a showdown. "And it's up to me to put them back into place."

Zuma was about to head out, having finished his strategic thinking. As the Labrador stood up, Wave was shown running as fast as she could to his location. Zuma started walking forward once Wave ran on the water, using her enhancement powers to do so. Once she reached the statues, Zuma was still walking forward. And when Wave jumped onto the mountain, he stopped. He knew why Wave was there. And why she called to him. "Zuma!"

Zuma looked back at Wave, clenching his fists when addressing her presence. "This has nothing to do with you Wave. Stand down."

Wave turned off her enhancement powers to start on calmer ground. "If my friends are in trouble, it has everything to do with me." Wave took a few steps closer to Zuma, who turned around so the two could share a glance. Once they did, Wave wasted no time in expressing her thoughts on Zuma's actions. "I've seen what you did to the gang members you fought Zuma." Wave shook a bit when recalling what Zuma did to Emma. "It terrified me. Especially what you did to that last one."

"I only did what Bloodfweak would've done for money." Zuma answered coldly. Wave paid attention to Zuma's exact words, hoping to address this later. Because there would be a later if Wave had something to say about it. "They could've stuck awound longer if they didn't get in my way." Hearing Zuma talk like that scared Wave. "If they want to stop me fwom getting Melody back, that's on them."

Wave expressed her fear clearly. "That's not the point!" She held her automail arm up, reminding Zuma of why this was personal for her. "You ripped your last opponent's arm off!" Thanks to Wave's reminder, a brief flash to Emma's state entered Zuma's mind. That was obviously a brutal spot for Wave. However, Zuma continued to convince himself that he had to go to those extremes. He had no idea if what the others said about Bloodfreak was true. "And you know that when our enemies aren't demons or something, we only kill as a last resort!"

"Tch. I guess I shouldn't have expected YOU to undewstand." Zuma responded, firmly believing Wave didn't know what he was feeling. And how it was causing his mental state to deteriorate with every passing event. "You don't know what it's like to take evewy measuwe you can to get someone back."

Wave knew exactly where Zuma was coming from. Losing Melody would break him even more than he already was. She knew how painful loss was. While she didn't understand the direct feelings related to loneliness, she DID understand one thing she hoped could help Zuma: The fear of losing a loved one. "I do, actually." Zuma flinched before Wave elaborated. "You're scared of losing Melody. She means everything to you." Wave's lip quivered before she mentioned the hardest moment of her life. "Just like my mom meant everything to me."

Zuma allowed Wave to speak, even though he was still growing impatient. "After Marshall, Margareth, and I lost our mother... I started to lose myself too. All I could think about was killing Miranda. That is, until our friends stopped me." Zuma clenched his fists in anger. Did Wave really think this would help him? "It may be in a different way, but I know what it's like to have someone taken from you. And in my case, I had someone taken from me, in a way they can't come back from."

Zuma started shaking, which Wave noticed. But she wasn't about to give up on Zuma. She needed him to see what he was doing. Her mother's words to her about Miranda returned when she did. "But if you keep going down this path, letting your desperation consume you, and continue pushing everyone away, your pain will become so powerful, that you can't move past it." What Wave next was what led to Zuma snapping. "Just like what happened to Miranda when she killed my mother!" Zuma glared at Wave, who knew what he was about to do.

"I'M NOTHING LIKE THAT SNAKE!"

Wave and Zuma dashed at each other; Wave in self defense, and Zuma with the pure intent to force Wave to back off. And this time, Zuma got the upper paw. He smacked Wave's paw downward when she tried to punch him, and then kicked her in the face. This caused her to fly back, and she regained her balance as Zuma charged at her. Wave managed to block Zuma's next punch, but it continued to send her towards the edge of the mountain. She skidded on the ground, stopping just before she fell off. That was when Zuma reached her once again.

Wave dodged Zuma's next punch, blocking Zuma's follow up kick and entering paw to paw combat. The two clashed and deflected their punches and kicks, finishing with a collided punch. That was when Zuma showed off a new technique. He grabbed Wave's paw and pushed her back from it, and then he activated his water powers. This allowed him to start bending the water in Wave's body! "Huh!?"

This caught Wave off guard, and Zuma found himself enthralled by what he was doing while making her move around. 'Just as I thought.' Zuma continued controlling Wave, making her step wherever he wanted, and even sent her running towards him. Because she had no control of her body in this state, it allowed Zuma to land another punch directly in the center of her gut. He then kicked her back, and started controlling her with his water again.

When Wave was held in place, Zuma charged a water attack and allowed her to question the situation. "My body water's moving all over the place! Zuma... how are you doing that!?"

"I found out that my powews wowk on body water too." Zuma explained, spawning a water column on the ground. Before he launched it, he explained more. "I can sense the body water of others too. That's how I knew you wewe coming." Wave was stunned by this news. Zuma really has been evolving his powers. And he wasn't done using his new levels yet either. "I was saving the water bending for you. Because I knew you'd be the most twouble." Zuma send the column flying towards Wave, keeping her still up until it hit her and sent her back.

The water column smashed Wave into the siren statue, and she looked to see Zuma charging at her again. She braced herself for what he was about to do.

Snow and Rocky were still fighting as hard as they could with Rocky dodging one of Snow's bark knife slashes. She attempted to side kick Rocky, only for him to throw her to the side. She jumped off of a tree and created another bark knife in the process. She threw it at Rocky after jumping off the tree, causing him to jump to the side. Snow rammed into him and attempted to pin him to the ground. But he overpowered her and pinned her to the ground instead. He grabbed her bark knife and threw it to the side before Snow put her paw on the ground.

Snow used the grass on the ground to attempt to pierce Rocky's shoulder. Rocky dodged it just in time and punched Snow in the face, only for her to kick him off. Rocky rolled on the ground before landing on his paws. Snow created a grass shuriken and threw it at Rocky. Rocky caught it and stuck one of his bolts in the middle. That was when it started to electrify the shuriken. This stunned Snow, who Rocky threw the shuriken towards. She tried to dodge it, but it turned back around when in the sky.

The shuriken glowed as soon as it made the turn, causing it to go for Snow again. She jumped over it when it came for her hind paws. It went for Rocky, who moved his head to the right as if he knew it'd miss him. It glowed again, coming back around towards Snow. Rocky moved his head to the left, letting it narrowly evade him again. It flew back at Snow, who pulled up some bark. Once it struck the bark, Snow let go and rolled to the side. It hit the tree, and it electrified. When it shorted out, Snow called out Rocky's move. "What the heck is in those bolts!?"

Rocky took out another bolt as he began explaining their power to Snow. "I copied the data in our meteorite shards. These bolts react to the power we gained from them. So when it touched your shuriken, it caused a reaction that pulled it towards you, and prepared to explode." Rocky looked at the shuriken that hit the tree just before it shorted out. "It's only a prototype however, so once it touched the bark you created before, it was unable to withstand any more pressure."

After getting the explanation, Snow dashed at Rocky, who blocked several of her punches and deflected two others. Snow ducked underneath Rocky's spin punch and aimed a punch right at his gut. When he grabbed her punch, she created a small mine and aimed it at his knee. When he attempted to strike her in the stomach, Snow attached the mine, which went off just as she and Rocky blinded themselves from the flash. When Snow backflipped away, she and Rocky stared at each other with the knowledge they'd both have to be crafty here.

Wave was bracing herself for Zuma's next attack, grabbing his arm when he attempted to pin her against the statue with it. He tried to punch her, but she dodged his fist just in time. This allowed for a counterattack punch, which she landed directly on Zuma's face. Zuma was sent back, and saved himself by spawning a water platform underneath him. After he did this, he jumped onto the kraken statue just as Wave jumped at him. Once she jumped at him, the two entered paw to paw combat on the statue's head. Punches and kicks were collided.

They landed some punches and kicks as well, but Zuma took over again after Wave landed her third punch. He side flipped over her low sweep and used his water powers to stun her again. He used this power to slam her face into the ground. He then ran up to her and kicked her in the gut, causing her to roll across the statue. She got back up when he stopped controlling her. But Zuma had already charged at her, and she deflected his punch, landing one directly in his gut.

Wave aimed a roundhouse kick at Zuma after that, but he ducked under it while holding onto his gut. When Wave tried to land a downward kick, Zuma rolled to the side and stunned her by bending her water again. He charged as fast as he could and kicked her back with epic force. This sent her flying towards the siren statue. She went flying at a high speed, but she caught herself just in time and grabbed onto the statue. She ran up to the head afterwards. That was when she heard Zuma start to laugh. "What could you possibly be laughing at right now!?"

Zuma was more than happy to express how poetic he found the location of their battle to be. "It's the place we'we fighting at wight now. I wead about it once. My memowy's a little foggy, but it seems to match the themes of our fight quite well." Wave was unsure of what exactly Zuma meant by that. "Appawently, this place symbolizes the fewocity and alluwing beauty of the sea." Zuma's gaze was clear as he shared this name with Wave. "They call it... the Last Coast!"

Wave knew Zuma would stop her if she stopped him prematurely. So she decided to let him explain what the Last Coast was all about. "The fewocity of a kwaken. And the alluwing beauty of a siwen. Both of them pewfectly descwibe what the ocean can do to its unfowtunate victims." Wave was starting to understand it better. "The ocean is one heck of a double edged swowd. It's one of the most beautiful things you can see in life." Zuma smiled as he finished his statement. "But it can just as easily be the thing that kills you without hesitation."

Wave became unsettled by the implications Zuma just gave. She clenched her fists, prepared to prevent any related to his closing words. "Zuma. It hurts me to see you thinking like that." Zuma clenched his fists as well, focusing as much as he could on winning the fight. "But that's all the more reason to win this fight." Wave and Zuma got ready to jump. "I want to stop the same descent that's drawing near." Wave and Zuma jumped at each other to continue the fight.

Wave and Zuma descended while aiming several punches and kicks at each other mid-air. They were able to deflect and block most of them, landing one punch each in the process. Wave's punch landed on Zuma's face, and Zuma's punch landed on Wave's gut. Once the two landed on the ground, Wave aimed a low kick at Zuma, who stepped to the side and attempted to roundhouse kick her. Wave caught his hind paw and attempted to throw him over her shoulder. As soon as she did however, Zuma used his water powers to grab his front paw.

As a result of Zuma's latest move, when Wave attemped to throw him, all she did was let go of him. Zuma used his powers to land behind her, which she quickly noticed. She turned around and attempted to strike him with the back of her paw. But he blocked this and aimed a swift punch at her. She dodged this and pushed him back with her other paw. Zuma skidded to a stop, and Wave kicked a piece of the mountain to crack it. She then lifted it out of the mountain and threw it at Zuma.

Zuma scoffed before smashing the piece of mountain with a water whip. That was when Wave appeared behind Zuma, who sensed her very presence. He turned around and attempted to send her back, only for her to dodge his punch by going downward. She then punched the ground, causing it to shake under Zuma. This stunned him long enough to let Wave punch him in the gut. This sent him flying back, and even caused him to crash into the Siren statue. Wave stared Zuma down as the Labrador did the same, being prepared for her next move.

Snow was using a shield she created from some tree bark to block Rocky's bolts the best she could. But even with her powers making it stronger, the bolts were doing some pretty crazy damage. Just three bolts in the form of a triangle were enough to give Rocky his spot to break it. And Snow knew this when it started to electrify. Before it could activate, Snow threw it at Rocky, who caught it at the exact moment it activated. The electricity didn't stun him thanks to his demon blood. But Snow still used this to make an opportunity for herself.

Snow used her powers on the ground to create some grass spikes to launch at Rocky. She launched a total of ten at him; the first one he dodged with a roll, and the second one he slashed through with his knife. When the third, fourth, fifth, and six went at him from four different angles, he jumped up, managing to dodge them all at once. However, the seventh one rose up from the middle as he descended. Snow was running up it, and she placed her paw on it for the eighth.

Rocky used the knife to slash through the seventh grass spike, only for the eighth one to rise up at him. He attempted to go inward to evade it, but he was a little too bulky to pull it off. So the spike slashed the middle of his back, making him wince. But when Snow came at him, he still managed to block her punch. She jumped off of the spike and tackled her after removing his knife. He put it away before pounding her into the ground. When she landed, Snow revealed that she planned for this by placing her paw on the ground to spawn the ninth spike.

The ninth spike came at Rocky from behind, and he had to take his knife out again. He barely managed to cut the tip of the spike. But the tenth one came from inside the ninth one and struck Rocky in his gut! The spike managed to pin Rocky to the ground, and he slashed it as Snow came charging at him. Rocky rolled out of the way of Snow's punch just in time. As soon as he got up, they entered a knife clash where Rocky shared his thoughts. "A spike inside of a spike. Brilliant Snow."

Rocky overpowered Snow in the knife clash, and she ducked underneath his kick and aimed an elbow charge at him. While she landed the strike, Rocky managed to counter her by elbowing her back. He then kneed her face and punched her downward. This caused her to roll before she got back up and rolled backwards to evade Rocky's next bolt strike. She stood across from him, ready to continue showing what she could do. "Gotta go all out to make you hear me." Rocky and Snow stared each other down as both prepared their next move.

Zuma attempted to emerge from the statue, only to notice that a small, but sharp rock was pointed at his right shoulder. This made him panic and hold it in a heartbeat. This gave Wave the opening she needed to pin him against the statue with her arm. She raised her automail arm and attempted to punch him, only for him to move his head to the side. He did the same when Wave attempted to punch him again. Before she could land her third punch, Zuma used his water powers to grab Wave's arm. Zuma continued to hold his shoulder after that.

Wave freed her arm with her enhancement powers, which made her pull strong enough to get out of it. She grabbed Zuma's chest after noticing he was holding his shoulder. She hoped he was starting to snap out of it. The two looked into each other's eyes. That was when Zuma spoke again. "My fwiends, huh?" Wave felt chills down her spine as Zuma continued. "If you WERE my fwiends, you'd let me do this alone as I demanded. But then again, you always were bad at listening to us."

Wave shook her head before pleading with Zuma in fear and frustration. "Look who's talking Zuma! You ignored Ryder's order and went awol, even after we all made it clear we were gonna help you! And then you came to the island and started slaughtering Bloodfreak's army! After what you did to his friends, do you think he's just gonna let you go home with Melody!?" Zuma simply stated at Wave. That only made her more scared. "I saw what you did at that base! And what you did to the Landseers! And that coyote told us about your picture to him!"

Wave made it clear as day to Zuma how she felt. "You think we'll just stand by, and let you confront the outcome of all that alone!?" A bird flew over Wave and Zuma, shining under the sun. When Wave and Zuma were shown again, nothing had changed. But Zuma started to move his paw.

"His wising thweat is iwwelevant." Zuma declared, taking Wave aback. Zuma placed his paw on her arm, but didn't use force. Not yet. He wanted her to know exactly how she felt. "The only thing that mattews to me is saving Melody. And if you insist on getting in my way, then that can't be helped."

Zuma moved Wave's arm, and then he grabbed her chest and pulled her just a bit closer. "I'm not stopping you from saving Melody, Zuma. I'm stopping you from throwing your happiness away over it!" The word 'happiness' struck a cord with Zuma. That was the exact thing he wanted to make sure Melody didn't lose. "And it's a good thing our battle already started. Because I'm gonna have to beat your sense back into you." Wave held in her tears over how much this hurt her. "I only hope that somehow, I can prove myself wrong. Because..."

Wave contained herself the best she could. Once she did, she professed her feelings about all of this. "I hate this. I hate all of this! I never wanted things to get this far for any of us!" Even after all she's seen, she still wanted to help Zuma. "Even after everything... I don't want to hurt you."

Zuma's glare was ice cold, and his vicious expression matched his apathy perfectly. "I couldn't give a cwap what you want." He started using all of his force to stand, struggling as he started to hold Wave up. It took a bit, but he started to stand and hold Wave by her chest. She tried to make him let go, but he wasn't making it easy. He clenched his other fist, making sure this punch did exactly what he wanted it to. After releasing Wave, he punched her in the gut as hard as he could. The punch was so brutal that it forced Wave to puke a bit of blood.

Zuma punched Wave into the Siren statue, causing her to get stuck inside of it with how far she went in. Zuma simply stared, knowing Wave was going to come at him again. Wave took a few seconds to recover before seeing Zuma from the statue. She got herself free from the statue as Zuma waited for her. And once she was free enough to run, she dashed at Zuma. Zuma did the same, dodging Wave's punch and aiming a roundhouse kick at her. She blocked it, but Zuma planned for this.

Zuma knocked Wave off of the mountain with a water whip, sending her falling downward and into the water. Zuma walked over to the edge of the mountain, watching Wave fall, and seeing the exact moment she splashed into the pond. He could still sense that Wave was still alive. Her body water wasn't hard for him to find, even in the Dalmatian's current predicament. In the water, Wave was already planning her next move. She also thought about Zuma's state of mind. But it didn't deter her determination. Her clenching her automail fist said it all.

Around this time, Claw and Charm were arriving at Cliff's base. They caught sight of the Dalmatian, who was being patched up by Marshall. Marshall was being his usual sweet and tender self with the other Dalmatian. "It doesn't look like anything too serious. Make sure to rest just in case." The Dalmatian smiled and nodded, appreciating Marshall's help a lot.

Claw and Charm were glad to see Marshall again. They hurried over to him with the former speaking in delight. "Marshall!"

A throwing knife suddenly struck the ground in front of Claw and Charm. Charm wasted no time in picking it back up as Marshall called to the one who threw it. "It's okay Scout! They're with me!"

Scout revealed himself to Claw and Charm by walking out of the front door of the base. All three Paw Patrol members were caught off guard to find the angry coyote holding Emma's arm. "Then maybe they can help explain this!" He gently set Emma's arm on the ground. Despite his rage towards Zuma, he tried to think about WHY he did this. "Did us capturing his sister screw him up THAT much!?"

"Given what he's done before, I'd say yes." Charm responded, walking up to Scout to observe him. "I suppose phobias would create that." Charm inspected Scout closely, and he kept his guard up. "Marshall said your name was Scout. Is that correct?"

"Yeah, that's my name." Scout answered. "I guess I don't have to ask if you're friends of Marshall's."

"You don't, but I DO have a question for you." Charm took another step closer, dashing up to Scout when he reached for another throwing knife. Marshall, Claw, and the other Dalmatian watched as Charm placed a paw on Scout's shoulder. That was when Charm got serious. This question related to Scout being in Bloodfreak's gang, and his new acquaintanceship with Marshall. "Who do you align yourself with?"

To be continued.

Rock music started playing as Wave started talking about what was going to happen with specific moments from the next chapter being shown. "Zuma and I have both taken new steps in our powers. In order to snap some sense into him, I'll have to find out how to counter HIS new moves. I think I know how to counter his new body water bending. I just hope Snow's having better luck with Rocky. Actually, has Rocky actually done anything worth condemning besides attack us?"

Wave finished the announcement with the words Paw Patrol in all blue with red outlines surrounded with a white border with Wave on the right, and Marshall on the left. "Next time, Isn't Always!" Wave and Zuma were skating on the water in their shot of the final moment. Rocky was pinning Snow against a tree as she tried to get through to him.
