Chapter 10

Borg Tower

Rosie was standing a few feet behind her captor in the basement level of Borg Tower. They had taken off her restraints when they got there. He also sent everyone else away. She wasn't sure why. Maybe it was some small act of mercy before they rip her open. "Why did you want to do this here?" she asked him.

"I have my reasons," he responded. "But you won't be around much longer, so I can just tell you. I want to destroy everything Borg has. I will get what I need from you and then I will use this bomb to destroy Borg Tower." He gestured to the bomb he had been working on. The way he was standing before didn't allow Rosie to see it.

"You want to destroy Borg Tower? That will kill everyone who is in the tower when it goes off."

"So, what are a few casualties? Borg took my life's work and gave it away like it was nothing! I want to make him suffer and I don't care who else gets hurt in the process!"

Rosie stayed quiet as her captor turned back to the bomb. Rosie has not told her grandfather, but she hid mini communicators all over Borg Tower. She figured they would be useful someday. She grabbed one that she hid under a desk in the basement and starting sending a message in morse code.

Rooftops of Ninjago

The rest of the ninja team was running along the rooftops of Ninjago, trying to get to Borg Tower. Borg Tower started coming into sight and they all stopped.

"Anything you'd like to share with us about these guys, Justin?" Max asked.

"They're extremely good with tech, after Rosie, and want revenge against Borg," Justin responded.

"So, nothing we're not used to," Mason said sarcastically.

Alex suddenly felt something vibrating in her pocket. She realized it was an emergency communicator Rosie had given her and took it out. "Guys," she said and they all surrounded her to look at the communicator. "Anyone know morse code?" she asked once she realized what the code being used was.

"I can," Felix responded and took the communicator from Alex. He studied the message and then his eyes widened. "They are going to blow up Borg Tower! Everyone inside is in danger!"

"You guys get everyone out of Borg Tower and I'll save Rosie," Justin said, but Max stopped him by putting a hand on his shoulder.

"I know how much you want to save her," Max started. "But we need to all hands on deck to evacuate Borg Tower. They're a lot of people that work there and we need to get them all out."

"But Rosie-"

"We'll save her after the civilians. She will not be happy if we put her above everyone else."

Justin sighed but nodded and they ran to Borg Tower to start evacuating everyone.

Back in the Basement of Borg Tower

Rosie watched what her captor was doing very carefully. "I realized you never told us your name," she finally said to him. "I do not want to keep referring to you as 'my captor' or 'that guy.'"

"You can call me 'Tech Wiz,'" he said. Rosie just stared at him with a 'Really?' look. "What? I personally think the name sounds cool."

"If that is what you need to tell yourself."

"You've been hanging around your so called 'boyfriend' too much." Tech Wiz used air quotes for the word 'boyfriend.' "Your opinion doesn't matter though. You're not alive anyway."

"I am alive in every way that matters."

Tech Wiz then turned to Rosie. The timer on the bomb has started ticking down. 15 minutes. That's how long he thought it would take to get what he needed from Rosie and get out of Borg Tower. He then turned and started walking towards Rosie. When he got close, Rosie managed to dodge him and ran to grab the bomb. She successfully grabbed it and Tech Wiz lunged at her to grab the bomb away. The two ended up tugging on the bomb. Rosie isn't sure who pressed what, but all of a sudden the timer went down to two minutes. Where they were in Borg Tower, they wouldn't be able to get out before it went off. She kicked Tech Wiz away and he hit his head on the desk she grabbed the communicator from earlier which knocked him out.

Rosie then turned to the bomb. She needed to try to disarm it.

Back to the Rooftops

The team had just managed to get everyone out. They managed to do it pretty quickly for the most part. Most people were gathered in the lobby. They also ran into some of the big bad's goons. Apparently, they had no idea about a bomb and went with the ninja. They were doing a last check on people before they were going back in for Rosie when Alex felt the communicator buzz again. She grabbed it and answered it, relieved it wasn't morse code this time. "Rosie, please tell me you're alright," she said.

"Tech Wiz is unconscious, but I would not say my situation is good," Rosie responded. "I just need to talk to Justin."

Hearing that, Alex quickly ran over to her brother and handed him the communicator. "Rosie needs to talk to you."

Justin eagerly took it. "Rosie, talk to me," he started. "What's going on?"

"I just wanted to hear your voice,"she said.

"You say that like we're never going to see each other again."

"Do you remember our first date?"

"Of course, it was ruined by Nathan."

"Even if that happened, it was still one of the best nights of my life."

Justin knew something was seriously wrong. "I'm coming to get you." He started running towards Borg Tower. He had a feeling the others were confused, but still followed him. He didn't look back to check.

"Justin, please stay back."

That just made Justin run faster. "If you're about to do something crazy, don't."

"It is too late for that."

Just then, Borg Tower blew up. "ROSIE!" Justin yelled.

Alex took the communicator from him. "Rosie, please come in." No response.

All the Ninjago quickly ran to the rubble of Borg Tower. They looked for a few minutes and Justin found some pieces that he knew belonged to his girlfriend. "No," he cried, collapsing onto his knees.

Alex found something she recognized. Rosie's memory chip. She grabbed it and stored it in a pocket in her gi. She wiped a few tears from her own eyes and looked around and saw Felix being comforted by Zeke and Harper as well as Juliet crying into Mason's shoulder.

Max went up to his best friend and put a hand on his shoulder. Justin immediately clenched his fists, got up, and shoved Max into a piece of debris. "You didn't let me go save her! I could've gotten her out in time!"

"We needed to get the civilians out!" Max defended.

"Well, now Rosie is gone!" Nobody stopped Justin as he turned and started walking away. They knew he was hurting. They all were. They had just lost a teammate. They had lost Rosie.
