Cassie Hack Pov:
"Slashers. Whether they were humans, monsters, or anything with a dark interest in killing before they were taken when they were alive. They all die the same when you take out their hearts, it helps to know the slasher you're after since it helps locate them. Vlad and I would travel the road in our van whenever we were on the hunt. Unlike the group I'm currently in that involves Wynter, Mercy, and Panda's oversized father who can never replace Vlad. The only one I'm worried about amongst the group is Wynter since she's barely had experience in fighting a Slasher. I already teamed up with Mercy in the past when we handled a woman with pigeon wings attached to her back. Rev had told me about what the werewolf had gone through and ended up as some fish's lunch, it's just some monsters need to be handled by someone who won't feel sorry for taking someone's life. No matter who the slasher was."
Forbidden Forest
Having heard about the other's victory over the undead Body Bagger at the dance studio. Cassie Hack and her group had been informed by Brit who was with Lobster Johnson that the next slasher that Mary Lovecraft had sent was the undead angel from Mercy Sparx's past, Ladara. The fallen angel that the devling knew before coming to Seabrook and being responsible for her death. It was reported that she'd be hiding in the Forbidden Forest where the wolf's den and Insectoid Hive were located at. Panda was getting frustrated at how there were no signs of the Slasher angel and walking through the forest for a long amount of time.
"Mind giving us an update on who this bird girl is? Because I hunt down bastards wearing masks and mercenaries, not dead angels since the last thing I should think about is there being an actual heaven and hell."
Mack asked about being briefed about Ladara since Mercy was leading the group due to her knowledge of the angel. Continuing their walk past the trees and being looked down upon by owls, Mercy decided to oblige them with a brief background with the blue-haired angel.
"While back during one of my jobs chasing down angels who went rogue, I met Ladara who had a grudge against me for taking out her colleagues. The last time we met, I found her a club called 'Nephilim'. Hundreds of wealthy people want to enjoy the demonic and divine company."
Mercy informed the three about having encountered Ladara and it being at an entertainment establishment. While Cassie and Mack understood what she meant, Wynter was confused since she didn't understand what they were talking about but decided to not interrupt the story.
"I tried to save her to make amends for what I did. But she backstabs me and was preparing me to date some slimeball, only to be saved from a couple of friends of mine. During the breakout, we found one of her friends who wanted us to save her. Only for Ladara to stop us so she could make amends for backstabbing me, guess Mary brought her back to torment me again."
Finishing her story about what happened to Ladara and dying to now being brought back to life for Mary to use for entertainment. The four continued their walk through the forbidden forest with no signs of any wildlife, Cassie decided to hang back to keep an eye out from the back with Wynter due to her noticing how out of place she felt.
"Think you have time to talk about this 'pack' you started with your boyfriend and Panda? How's it going?"
Cassie asked Wynter about the recently formed bond between the three of them since there was small mutters coming from Seabrook High about their town's zombie protector dating another girl. It took her by surprise when Cassie said it since the reason could be about how she knows Panda and her father before they came to Seabrook.
"Honestly? Kind of exciting to have someone else hanging around with us. Panda reminds me of myself when I came into Seabrook, ready to start fights and show how tough I am. Then I got hit in the ribs with zombie hospitality and out of nowhere, I'm howling for Revenant."
The werewolf explained how she acted before the residents of Seabrook helped them fit in and her falling for Revenant. Cassie could tell she was genuine about it not minding someone that didn't mind getting her hands dirty.
"But if we're getting to asking questions, I never got to truly ask how you and her met. Is there some blood feud between the two of you?"
Wynter responded to Cassie Hack for her interest in Panda Delgado since she'd never seen the black-haired girl looking concerned for the werewolf's new partner. Seeing how they were a distance away from Mack and Mercy who continued to look for any signs of Ladara hiding in the forest. Cassie decided to take the time and explain how she and Vlad came to meet the Body Baggers.
"We met back during a job in Terminus. There was a rumor about some masked Slasher stalking a high school of upcoming Body Baggers. Panda's father placed her there to help learn a thing or two about the business. I made it into the building where we met up and fought each other. She fights dirty."
She warned the werewolf how Panda would use any tactic to win a fight. Wynter could tell from Panda's green eyes that despite her look and attitude, she had Mack Delgado's anger for handling problems.
"While I was focused on keeping what was left of the school alive, Panda got attracted to some guy she thought would like her. Only for him to use her as bait to become a better Body Bagger. The guy ended up as the last victim at the school before we took the Slasher out."
Wrapping up the story about how Panda fell for a guy that she thought would like her due to the personality Panda had and being hyperactive. Wynter felt sorry to hear about how Panda's failed attempt to be in a relationship but smiled at the jerk being dealt with for messing with her.
"We're not going use her like that. Panda's a part of our pack and will protect her, especially her father."
The werewolf girl responded to Cassie Hack about how despite their attempt in taking Revenant's life and Panda's sudden interest in him. Wynter had to acknowledge herself as a pack leader and look after everyone who was a part of it. The four continued their walk till Mercy stopped in the middle of her tracks as she saw a faint shadow from above that was circling around them.
"We're being watched."
Mercy called out which alerted Mack Delgado to pull out a knife from his belt and ready to knock it out of the sky. Everyone thought it was Ladara who was spying on them from above as they saw the faint shadow again. Just as Mack acted on instinct and threw the knife into the air, Wynter was able to catch the scent of who was watching them.
"Wait! It's not the slasher!"
She cried out to it not being Ladara as they heard the knife hitting something and falling to the ground. Looking at it appearing to be an angel, it was one of A-Spen's friends, Aerial. The cybernetic peacekeeper appeared to have been following them during their journey into the forest.
"I apologize for not alerting you of my presence. A-Spen had asked me to go and look over Willa's cave and the moonstone, they are worried that this 'slasher' woman would attempt to go after it."
The alien angel explained her reason for coming to the forest for the safety of Willa's pack since Mary could steal it from the werewolves due to the supernatural power the moonstone had. Looking at the side of her metal wing that was struck by Mack's knife, pulling it out and handing it to Clown face. With the group now having an extra member that came from space, Mercy felt the ground shaking as if something was coming their way.
"I would like to confirm that this one isn't because of me."
Aerial responded to the sound as they heard the trees start to collapse around them. Unsure if this was Ladara doing this or the werewolves who decided to hunt the slasher angel themselves. Preparing to face whatever power Mary Lovecraft had given Ladara and would show it to the group. They saw a shadowy figure walking towards them as they were able to it being in the form of a large house with a set of large feathery legs attached to the structure.
"What the hell am I looking at?"
Mack Delgado questioned at the walking house which was surprising for the Body Bagger since he nor Mercy and Cassie had seen this before. Wynter and Aerial on the other hand knew what the unusual house was, it belonged to the Slavic witch who watched Seabrook from the shadows. Baba Yaga. Watching the house bending its knees toward the group, they watched the door open to see the hostess tumbling out like a ball and falling to the ground. Looking over at the group and seeing Wynter a part of it, the witch grumbles in an angered tone.
"Your boyfriend. Will pay dearly for what he's done to my house!"
Baga Yaga called out at Wynter as they saw her pestle sliding down against the floorboard and hitting her on the head. Aerial and Cassie went over to help the old woman up as they didn't understand what she was talking about.
"I decided to leave this town for one week. One little week to visit my old home, only for an undead woman with bird wings to fly into my house and take it over. That undead bird woman doesn't know that my house is a trap for anyone who dares steal it from me."
She explained about Ladara going to the witch's house and attempting to take her vast collection of trinkets she'd collected in the past. Looking at the house to see it moving around like a wild animal, Baba Yaga snaps her fingers causing it to drop to the ground causing it to tremble.
"You don't have a brothel in the house, do you?"
Mercy asked the old woman if the house was to look normal but hide something else within the structure. The others looked surprised by the devling's question and were curious if that was true, Baba Yaga responded with a flick of her finger toward Mercy's nose thinking her house was for entertainment. Deciding to not say anything else that might upset her, the five entered Baba Yaga's house where the door ominously shuts behind them.
"Don't worry. Baba Yaga comes off grouchy, I mean really grouchy. But she helps out Revenant whenever disaster happens and could help with stopping Lovecraft."
Wynter informed them about how the witch could assist in battling Mary Lovecraft and find a way to banish her from Seabrook and humanity itself. Looking to the living room where they saw a variety of items lined up for them to look at. They walked across the place to see the interior damaged with the walls scratched showing signs that Ladara battled Baba Yaga.
"I'm not up to date with the supernatural. But isn't Baba Yaga's house filled with a bunch of crap that can kill anyone?"
Mack questioned about the house being a trap for intruders who weren't allowed in the house. Keeping their eyes open for any signs of Ladara, they saw a door open which opened up to show a set of blue eyes glaring at them. Emerging from the entrance was Ladara who looked like how she did back at the theater, her flesh decayed and wings molting. Across her body was a variety of potions and items that Baba Yaga had concocted during her time on the road.
"Crap."
Mercy spoke toward seeing the angel again as Ladara stumbled out of the door toward the five as they prepared for whatever she had planned for them. In her right hand was a black spear that Mercy recognized it as her old weapon when she was alive. In her left hand was an old recording player as she placed it on the table. Going over to the put the needle on the record, it started to play a song which indicated this was part of her plan in killing them.
"I know you don't believe in ghosts or letting people close, I'm good at letting go. You kiss my lips until they're colder, think you're in control. But I should let you know."
Ladara sang softly while not looking at the group as the slasher angel was singing directly toward Mercy leaving the devling unsure of what this was leading up to. Looking at one of the various items she'd taken from Baba Yaga's collection, the slasher angel looks at her collection of items she'd taken from Baba Yaga's house and presents a stuffed doll.
"Well, the good guys don't always get the glory. Can't you see the warning signs?"
She asked them as the slasher angel started ripping off the doll's limbs and throws them toward the ground. They got confused to what Ladara was doing as they noticed the limbs started to twitch and move about on their own. They started to grow new limbs and become life sized dolls with claws and fangs as they stared at the slayer group.
"I can make your life a living hell if I wanted to, wanted to. Wish this was a love you never felt and you know it's true, know it's true."
The angel told them as she commanded the dolls to attack the group. Watching the reanimated dolls charging at them, Cassie took charge and swung her bat at one of them and their head completely comes off. Unsure of how to take out the dolls, they continued to battle them. All the while was Ladara was dancing to the chaos that was happening before for her.
"Love me, love me. Trust me with that heart of yours, feels so heavy. Lying on the bedroom floor, I can make your life a living hell if I wanted to, wanted to."
Ladara told them as the slasher didn't notice Mercy rushed toward her. Pinning her against the wall with the angel's spear, the devling prevented her from grabbing another item off her that would make it impossible to stop her.
"Chew you up and spit you out and still you come around. So, I can watch you drown. Hate when you tell me that you'll wait like you think that I could change. When I've always been this way."
The angel stated to Mercy before using her wings to toss the red skin demoness to the side. Looking at the others who managed to defeat the dolls, they noticed Ladara free from Mercy's grasp and grabbing a potion off her body and prepares to use it.
"Well, the good guys don't always get the glory. Can't you see the warning signs?"
Warning them about not getting lucky a second time as she tossed the potion near Baba Yaga's cauldron that was lying on the ground. Throwing the potion inside of it, they saw something moving around inside the pot. Hearing the sound of groans being made, they watched as what could be described as Baba Yaga's lunch came to life.
"I can make your life a living hell if I wanted to, wanted to. Wish this was a love you never felt and you know it's true, know it's true."
The continued her song as Ladara commands the living golem of witch stew to attack them. Thinking that he could match the creature's strength, Mack used his knives to cut off its limbs to render it armless. Only for the food golem to change its form into a snake and hits Mack with its tail.
"Love me, love me. Trust me with that heart of yours, feels so heavy. Lying on the bedroom floor, I can make your life a living hell if I wanted to, wanted to."
Ladara sings to her food golem as it helps motivate the living mass to continue its attack. Aerial used her metal wings to slice it into pieces while Wynter and Cassie worked together to throw the pieces outside of the house. Seeing how she could keep them fighting for hours without end, there was shuffling coming from behind Ladara as Mercy got up from being thrown to the ground and got agitated. The slasher angel looked at the devling woman and saw Mercy pulling out her lighter.
"I'm haunted by the words you say when I can't say that I feel the same. Admit you'll always be alone and you should know, I'm only gonna ghost."
Mercy added her voice to the song as she flicked the top of her light which showed a small fire igniting. Recognizing what she planned on doing, Wynter pulled Cassie to the side while gesturing to Aerial to protect Mack. Using her lighter like a microphone, she breathes fire toward Ladara and what was left of her food golem into flames.
"I can make your life a living hell if I wanted to, wanted to. Wish this was a love you never felt and you know it's true, know it's true."
She sang through the light as Mercy's fire continued to burn the slasher angel and golem. While Wynter kept Cassie to the side to avoid being burned, Aerial channeled her power into her wings to protect Panda's father from the fire. They watched the devling continue to sing the final ballad toward the slasher and render her into a burnt angel.
"Love me, love me. Trust me with that heart of yours, feels so heavy. Lying on the bedroom floor, I can make your life a living hell if I wanted to, wanted to."
Mercy and Landra finished their short duet before the red-skinned woman saw the charred angel shaking and collapsing to the ground. Taking a moment to see the fighting had finished, they walked over to see Ladara unable to move due to the burning she'd received.
"Mercy? Is that you?"
The fallen angel asked if the devling was here as it looked like she wasn't in control of herself during the attack. Mercy nodded to her as it seemed that Ladara had managed to regain her mind from being controlled by Mary's influence.
"I don't know how long I have before she takes over. But Lovecraft is preparing herself for the final act, she plans on showing herself to the rest of the town. No one will be spared."
She warned them about what Mary Lovecraft was plotting which made the group concern to what the woman was doing than testing Seabrook's endurance to the senseless slasher attacks. Before having a chance to continue, Ladara was falling back into Lovecraft's control and was about to attack them. Only for Mack to stab the sides of her arms with his blades to prevent the burnt slasher from escaping.
"Cassie. You know how to handle this."
Informing the slayer to end Ladara and free her from Lovecraft's control. Cassie Hack looked over at the spear that Ladara was using and takes it, stabbing the fallen angel through the chest and piercing her heart. Ladara felt the sudden jab before starting to drift into a deep slumber with everyone watching her resting in peace. The moment was interrupted by Baba Yaga opening the door to see more of her house being a mess than ever.
"Nobody leaves house until I'm informed what is happening. And this place cleaned up!"
The witch shouted that in exchange she was told about what was happening in Seabrook and how an undead angel invaded her home. With the addition of talking amongst the five and catching up on the recent changes that have been going on since her trip away from the unusual town.
The song used for this chapter was 'Living Hell' by Bella Poarch. All rights to the song belong to her and the writers who helped make it. I'm available for messages if anyone wants to know what'll happen next. Until then, I hope everyone had a happy Easter. See you soon!
