Author's Notes:

I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho and am simply a fan of both the manga and the show.

Please note that this fanfiction is based on one that was originally posted all the way back in 2010 and was last updated in 2013, after reviewing my original work I decided to completely revamp the story and delete the original. If you enjoyed the original then I apologize, but hopefully those who read it will enjoy this version just as much.

Minor Correction from last chapter, apparently Kuwabara has made two Spirit swords before and I forgot about it. The Spirit fan was definitely new, however.

It's finally time to meet another of my original characters, The Soul Defiler Prince, Arctic. I hope those that read this will find him interesting. Only one more original character to introduce for this fanfiction, and you won't have to wait long to meet him.

Chapter Four:

Despite having seemed confident that Kuwabara would be able to do anything to him, Karasu was still quick to try to dodge out of the way as the young man charged at him with his new sword. Unfortunately for the half transformed Crow Demon turned Soul Defiler, the somewhat clumsy swordsman managed to slice at his halfway formed feathery finger tips.

Kuwabara gave the Defiler no time to recover from the shock of having been hit, instead he focused on slashing at the demon more, managing to wrack up a collection of hits and small wounds on the demon's body.

"Have you learned nothing, stupid Human?! All of these wounds will heal." Karasu said angrily, as he continued to dodge around despite his injuries.

"Will they? I don't see them healing now?" Kuwabara asked in a mocking and skeptical tone as he realized that none of the new wounds on Karasu had healed yet.

"You're not using Light Magic… so eventually they have to heal." Karasu said back, trying to sound confident but unable to hide the fact that he was nervous as glanced down at some of his injuries.

"You don't sound nearly as confident as you're hoping that you do." Hiei chimed in from the sidelines in a mocking tone. Unable to help but feel somewhat impressed by how many wounds that Kuwabara had caused the Soul Defiler.

Though it was clear that Karasu was preparing a comeback to what Hiei had said, the Crow Demon turned Soul Defiler wasn't given the opportunity to say it because Kuwabara used Hiei's unintended distraction as an opportunity to slice Karasu clean in half.

"Not bad Kuwabara, it's too bad I can't burn him while he's like this. We don't want him possessing Yukina though." Hiei said in a stunned way for a moment, though sound annoyed as he said this last part.

"I'm not sure why you're celebrating, little fire demon. I'll just pull myself back together!" Karasu said angrily, speaking before Kuwabara could comment.

For a second there was the briefest flicker of concern on Hiei's face at this comment, Kuwabara, meanwhile, somehow knew that things weren't going to go as the Soul Defiler expected. This knowledge led to a chuckle out loud as Karasu suddenly squeezed his eyes shut tightly and appeared to be focusing, only to snap his eyes back open after a few minutes.

"What in the world is going on?! I'm not able to bring my two parts back together!" Karasu said in a stunned and clearly confused.

"I would have thought that your previous injuries not healing would have shown you that the situation had taken a turn in your opponent's favor." A new, very soft and almost completely monotone sounding voice said suddenly; causing Kuwabara, Hiei, and even the fallen Karasu to turn their heads in the direction it had come from.

He was the same size as Hiei, though that was the only similarity between the two; he also had short messy white hair, icy blue colored eyes, and was wearing fairly nice looking blue clothing.

"Lord Arctic? Forgive me for expressing myself, but I'm glad that you're here sir." Karasu asked in a somewhat surprised but also almost relieved sounding way.

"Are you now?" And to think that you were saying earlier that we should both avoid being around Dezaro, as you claimed it was his fault that we were both starting to feel." Arctic said in a very monotone voice, though raising a white eyebrow at Karasu as he took a small step forward.

"My claim still stands My Lord, but right now that isn't important. What is important now is that you help get myself back together so I can finish off the Human, his little Fire Demon friend, and that little Ice Maiden they're both foolishly trying to protect." Karasu said in a slightly indignant tone, though quickly trying to sound more polite as he said the last part.

"Now why would I help you? You went against my rules and tried to harm not one but two of my distant relatives." Arctic asked, tilting his white haired head in a questioning way.

"Wait, what?!" Hiei and Kuwabara both happened to ask at the same time, both having been terrified to see someone new show up but now both looking more confused than anything.

"Oh so he didn't tell you? You see I told him about how two descendants of my twin sister had found themselves in the Human World for various reasons. I also made it abundantly clear that he wasn't to go anywhere near either of them, and yet here he is having knocked one of them thanks to draining her and was bold enough to ask me to help him finish off my other descendant." Arctic explained patiently to both Hiei and Kuwabara, though also staring at Karasu with a hint of anger in his icy blue eyes.

"There must be some mistake sir, wouldn't your descendants be at least part Wolf Demon's like…" Karasu started to protest, though stopped immediately as Arctic held up a single finger.

"You're not fully wrong, my sister and I were both born as Ice elemental Wolf Demon's. However, as you know I was forcibly turned into a Soul Defiler shortly after being born so that I would become The Soul Defiler Prince. As for my sister, the man who turned me was kind enough to teleport her to the Ice Maiden's floating island with a note telling them who she was." Arctic said with a brief nod in acknowledgement, though then quickly continuing with what he had been saying.

"The Ice Maidens were happy to take in my sister, though they took measures to keep her from me. I only was able to see her once and didn't appreciate it at the time. In the later years I was informed that they had done something to cause my sister to lose the Wolf Demon part of her bloodline; she then became like them and gave birth to a little girl that she named Hina." Arctic explained.

"My and Yukina's Mother." Hiei stated in an uncharacteristically dumbfounded sounding way

"That is correct. And while some would argue that, since my sister gave birth like a normal Ice Maiden, you are not technically both related to me. I care not for such trivial details. Hina was born from my sister and you and your sister were born from Hina… that's all that matters to me." Arctic said with a nod towards Hiei, though then snapping his gaze back towards Karasu.

"Which leads me back to you going against my orders. Despite being ordered to keep your distance from this area, you somehow managed to find your way into a forest owned by the woman that my distant relative is living with and then just happened to come across my sister's descendant… You'll forgive me if I do not believe for a moment that this is all a mere coincidence." Arctic said, his voice actually reflecting anger now as he spoke to Karasu.

"That's what I thought. I will heal your excuse behind your disobedience later, for now be silent." Arctic continued speaking in a very cold and clearly angry tone, pointing his hand at Karasu and causing ice to form over the other Demon's mouth before he could protest.

"Now then, I think it would be wise for you to put away that Life Energy Sword of yours, young man. After all, you will not be able to carry Yukina back to her current residence if you pass out." Arctic said in a more gentle tone as he turned his attention towards Kuwabaran and ignored the muffled protests coming from Karasu.

"I'm honestly surprised that I haven't passed yet, the vision I had showed that happening before you got here. Though maybe I shouldn't carry Yukina back, in case it still happens." Kuwabara said, doing his best to also ignore the noise as he spoke to Arctic and dispelled his sword as suggested.

"Yes well, I am not overly familiar with psychic abilities but I have heard that when acted upon quickly enough a vision can be proven at least somewhat incorrect." Arctic said calmly to Kuwabara, though also very nonchalantly snapping his fingers all of a sudden; which caused the currently wiggling upper half or Karasu to freeze in place.

"I'm sure it's something that you can ask Genki about when you get back to her manor, though she made it clear when she ordered me to follow you that I should tell you that you can expect to be lectured." Hiei said with a slightly tired sounding sigh.

"Why am I not surprised to hear that? I wonder if she'll be less mad if I explain why I rushed off." Kuwabara said, sighing at first, though muttering the last part in a hopeful way.

"Given you'll have to tell her everything that happened in this clearing, I doubt it." Hiei said in a very blunt way.

"You're just a ray of sunshine, you know that?" Kuwabara said to Hiei in a heavily sarcastic tone.

"I will try. Now come on, let's go over to my sister and get out of this clearing. I don't know about you, but I have this feeling that it wouldn't be wise to be here for what happens next." Hiei said with a slight smirk at first, though becoming more serious at this last part.

"Nothing will happen until the three of you are safely away from the area. Regardless, it would be best for you to get going." Arctic said, clearly trying to be reassuring as he said this, but ending up sounding more ominous as this last part came out.

"Right, let's go then. Hiei, you should carry Yukina back." Kuwabara said feeling almost bad for Karasu for a brief second, though quickly getting over it long enough to start walking towards the still unconscious Yukina.

"Wait, what?! You want me to carry Yukina?!" Hiei said in a clearly shocked tone.

"Well like I said, I might still end up passing out before I get back to Genki's. Do you really want me falling while I'm holding Yukina?" Kuwabara explained in a logical way.

"Besides, whether she knows it or not… you are her brother. I think it would be nice for you to carry her back." Kuwabara added, blushing slightly as Hiei stared up at him in surprise.

"Your sister is unaware that the two of you are related?" Arctic asked Hiei, actually looking surprised for a moment before, as if it was an ingrained habit, he forced his face to return to one with no expression at all.

"It's complicated… Perhaps I could tell you about it sometime." Hiei offered, in a somewhat embarrassed explanation to Arctic as he and Kuwabara finally reached Yukina.

"That would be nice. Though I doubt Miss Genki would appreciate me coming to her manor given what I still am, even if that situation seems to be changing." Arctic said, briefly allowing a small smile to appear on his face before once again making his face expressionless.

"I'll…I'll discuss it with her. It'll give her someone other than Kuwabara to lecture." Hiei offered in a somewhat embarrassed but also serious tone as he gently scooped Yukina into his arms.

"For now though we should be going, I will return to this clearing and let you know if I have received permission for you to come to the manor." Hiei added, clearly desperate to get himself out of what was clearly an embarrassing situation for himself.

"Thank you, Hiei. I appreciate that. May you, Mister Kuwabara, and Yukina get back without issue." Arctic said, giving both Hiei and Kuwabara a polite bow as the two of them finally left.

"Now then, let's deal with you… Shall we?" Arctic said, turning back towards Karasu once he was sure Hiei and Kuwabara were out of earshot, the smile that formed on his face causing even Karasu to shiver upon seeing it.
