He wasn't sure what to make of it, but Sonny had to have a plan.
That was going through Corso's head.
The droids surrounded them, and his hands were cuffed in front of him.
That wasn't the case for Sonny.
His hands were cuffed behind his back.
As the transportation arrived, a droid held a laser to Sonny's back.
Sonny's gaze was blank for now, Corso found it hard to make out if Sonny was faking it, or if he really was defeated.
It wasn't like Sonny to be this stoic, and it started to worry Corso.
Not that he could do much about it.
Sonny was shoved inside the van first.
Once he sat down, he looked at Corso.
And started to blink in morse code.
The Hell…?
It took him a few tries before he got what Sonny said.
Sonny had activated his distress signal.
Help would arrive soon enough.
Corso was forced in, sitting opposite Sonny.
Corso carefully replied to the message with blinking, himself.
Sonny nodded slightly.
Then the doors were closed, and the van started driving.
It felt like they had driven for hours, but that was impossible.
Genesis stadium was big, but not THAT big.
Corso tried to use his eye's scanners to make out where they were.
Nothing indicated they were driving in circles.
Sonny just sat with his eyes closed, head leaning against the van's wall.
Corso couldn't help but think about what he was doing.
Suddenly, the van slowed down.
Sonny opened his eyes.
Soon they were pushed outside.
"Don't touch me." Corso growled at the droid that pushed him.
Sonny turned halfway to see what was going on but was stopped by the droids.
"Keep walking Blackbones." The human guard said.
Corso felt like jumping the man, but a look from Sonny stopped him.
After a few minutes, they were forced into an area that looked a lot like a concealed cellblock.
Corso tried to make eye contact with Sonny.
Sonny remained silent, until they approached a door.
Once inside, they were stopped by Technoids droids.
They were in an office with steel walls, reinforced windows and a massive desk, filled with screens, and buttons on the polished top.
Behind it, in a high chair, sat the head of Technoid, Duke Maddox.
The head of Technoid got out of his chair, to stand face to face with the head of The Pirates.
Sonny's face was expressionless, not giving anything away.
"So, we meet again." The Duke said to Sonny.
Corso looked annoyed.
"What bullshit charges do you want to charge us with?" Corso asked, past being polite.
Duke Maddox sent him a stern look.
"Deleting all of the files connecting us to I'son's work." He said.
Corso looked at Sonny, who tried to hide a smile.
So, that was going on.
Sonny didn't take his eyes off the Technoid leader.
"Because I don't want it to fall into the wrong hands. And I can't find any more wrong than Technoid." Sonny said, his voice firm and steady.
"The research is safe here. Safer then with the Pirates and you WILL face the consequences of your crimes." Duke Maddox said.
"You won't be getting away with this. The truth will come out and Technoid WILL fall." Sonny replied.
Duke Maddox got angry when he heard that.
"Sounds like you don't care about your friend over there and what will happen to him. Not surprising. Knowing what he did, he'd get you killed and wouldn't even care." He hissed.
Corso felt the color drain from his face.
This referenced classified information.
How did Maddox even figure that out?
"You really think I won't be able to hold him back? If anything, I'm the only one he listens to. So how about you keep him with me? For everyone's sake." Sonny asked, a small smile appearing.
Duke Maddox realized he was backed into a corner.
"Lock them up. I'll handle this later." Duke Maddox barked, before the droids forced them out.
In the cell, they were released from their cuffs.
Corso wanted to immediately try to escape, but Sonny stopped him.
"Don't. The bars are electrified." He said.
Corso sighed.
"How do you suppose we get out of here?" He asked.
Sonny didn't answer, just laid down on one of the bunks.
Soon, he was asleep.
Well, that was just great.
Sonny wasn't taking this seriously at all.
With Sonny sound asleep, Corso was left with his own mind.
Technoid knew who he was. Probably deport him right back to Chissia, and Sonny would be on his own again.
That was enough to make Corso's blood run cold.
At Duke Maddox's office, Bleylock was looking at his boss.
They managed to catch him again.
For how long, was the question.
The Pirates wouldn't stand for this and were probably already planning to free their leader.
If he wanted to keep Sonny, he had to act fast.
Duke Maddox looked at his computer.
"Sonny doesn't look too worried. That Corso person is another matter." He said.
"This would be the best time to act Your Excellency, before his crew comes to save him. We have the means to control his mind." Bleylock suggested.
Duke Maddox rubbed his beard.
"I told you before, I'm not doing that. Unlike you I still have some morals." He said.
"It's either that or we have to kill him. Not exactly a moral thing to do either." Bleylock suggested, a bit more confident this time.
Duke Maddox taught it over, before focussing on Bleylock.
"You keep forgetting about jails. In any case, separate those two. And give them a lookover once they're out." He ordered.
Bleylock smiled.
He could use this.
Corso on his own would be easy to deal with.
Sonny was another matter, but doable.
Once he regained control, the secrets he held would be safe.
"By your command." He said.
Duke Maddox nodded.
"Just make sure they don't escape." He said.
Bleylock nodded in agreement.
"Of course Your Excellency, there are some new cells at Technoid base. We could try and convince him to stay there." Bleylock said.
Duke Maddox nodded.
"Just don't hurt him. We don't want to lose our bargaining chip with The Pirates." He ordered.
Bleylock took a light bow.
"That won't be a problem, Your Excellency."
Sonny woke up, not sure why.
Corso also finally went to sleep.
Good, maybe he could relax.
A little more rested, Sonny looked around their cell.
A standard Technoid prison cell.
Four bunk beds, and laser bars locking them in.
Sonny sat up and looked at them.
They needed outside help to break those.
Sonny felt a vibration on his wrist.
Someone was calling.
Bennetts hologram appeared.
"Thank God you're still alive. We got worried when you didn't come back." He said.
Sonny sighed.
"Corso and I are captured." He explained, using ancient Shiloh.
"Really? What for?" Bennett joked.
"They think we stole Technoid secrets. I mean I did, but I immediately erased the data." Sonny said.
"Want us to get you out?" Bennett offered.
Sonny nodded.
"And fast. I'll probably get transported soon." He said.
Bennett laughed.
"They won't even know what hit them." He said.
Sonny gave a thumbs up, and then ended the holo call.
Then, he walked over to Corso.
"Wake up. Help is underway." Sonny said.
Corso opened his eye.
Sonny looked at him with a soft smile.
However, Corso soon shot up.
"Do you smell that?" He asked, before he pointed at the door. "Gas!"
Sonny shook his head.
"It's sleeping gas. They're not going to kill us. We're too important." He said, before he started to cough.
Corso grabbed him by the shoulders.
"That's even worse!" He said, before he started to cough too.
Sonny nodded, pulling up his shirt over his face.
"Bennett will be here soon. It will be alright." He said.
Corso nodded hesitantly, before sleep took them both.
Bennett and some other Pirates hurried to the cell.
Unfortunately, Bleylock was already there, standing over an unconscious Sonny and Corso.
The droids accompanying him were in the process of transporting Sonny.
"Make sure he won't escape." Bleylock ordered.
Bennett stepped out of the shadows with his gun.
"Too late for that. Now please step away from our friends." Bennett warned, as the other Pirates pointed their lasers as well.
Bleylock looked ready to fight, but the Pirates outnumbered him.
"If only you knew what he did. You'd leave him to rot." He snarled.
"Goes for all of us. Most of them are Technoid lies." Bennett stated calmly, as he fired his gun, disabling the droids that held Sonny.
Two Pirates picked up Corso and Bennett lifted Sonny onto his shoulder
"What do we do about Bleylock?" One of the Pirates asked.
"Lock him up. Erase his memory. Then focus on getting these two home."
Corso woke up, finding himself in The Black Manta's infirmary.
Bennett smiled at him as he tried to sit up, but had to lie back down due to a splitting headache.
"Easy there, you've been out cold for hours." Bennett said, handing him an ice pack for his head.
Corso groaned as he got a hold of the pack.
He turned his head to look over at the second bed.
There was Sonny, unconscious and with an oxygen mask.
That worried Corso.
"What's wrong with Sonny?" He asked.
Bennett looked at him seriously.
"He was affected by that gas far more than you. Looks like someone at Technoid wants him gone." He said.
Corso looked at him.
"Explain that a bit more clearly, please." He muttered.
Bennett sighed and took a seat.
"You know about Sonny's allergies. Something in that gas flared it up. They were trying to kill him." He said with a grave voice.
Corso's hands clenched.
There was only one person he could think of who would do this.
