Part 11: The Master Returns and a Legend Reborn?

While Peter was at the Village another young man had returned to his Master's side.

"This is all I could find." the young man said and opened the cloth displaying what remained of a very large green stone along with its companion.

"This is all there is of the Da Chon?"

The young man nodded his head and handed his Master the shards still wrapped in its protected cloth.

"What of the temple?"

"The monks are destroyed."

"And the Village?"

"The villagers are all dead."

A noise in the background, sounding like a strangled retort came from one of the men that stood in the background.

"Speak."

"We thought we saw someone still alive, but when we investigated, we found nothing."

"Come here."

The man came forward then bent down on one knee his head bowed in the ancient style of a soldier showing respect to his general. He did not remain that way for long. An ancient sword flashed downward, severing the man's head from his body.

"Your orders were to destroy everyone. No one was to be left alive." The Master said to the corpse laying at his feet. He looked up toward the rest of the men and his chosen son. "I expect you to rectify the situation. What of the remaining Shaolin?"

"We have not been able to find the one called Master Kahn or the one called the Ancient. The eldest of the Caine line is dead."

The young man produced a bag and pulled out the severed head of Matthew Caine. A grim look came over on his Master's face.

"Why did you bring this here?"

"Proof of what was done."

"Very good. But the grandson still lives as well as the father. Both are capable of continuing the line, and the order. I want both of them dead within the week."

"What of the Da Chon?"

"The Da Chon will be made whole. I shall see to it, and when it is, you can use it on the Shambhala Masters, once the Caine line is dead."

"The stone is useless in this form, it's power weakened."

"The stone can be remade."

"How?"

"Did you bring the scroll like I asked you to?" the Master asked.

The young man handed the master a bamboo tube. "How do you intend to restore the crystal?"

"Let me worry about that. You must find the rest of the Shaolin and destroy them."

"What of the legend?"

"What legend?"

"While searching for the scroll, I found another. I read that only the staff of the Monkey King would be able to destroy the Jade Warriors, death stone."

"What of it? No one remembers such things. The staff is long gone. No one remembered the existence of this," The Master held up the remains of the stone. "Until it was too late."
