Hearthome Gym Battle
Lincoln, Luna, their friends, and Barry stood outside the Hearthome City gym where Lincoln will try to win his fifth badge.
"You think you'll win, little bro?" Luna asked Lincoln.
"Doubt it; I couldn't beat Fantina, so what makes you think you stand a better chance than me?" asked Barry.
"Lincoln beat you, didn't he?" asked Dawn.
"I'm gonna fine you for bringing that up." said Barry with a huff.
"Don't forget to call your family, Lincoln." Stella tells her boyfriend. Lincoln takes out his Poketch and uses it to contact his family; his father answers the call.
"Hi, son." Lynn Sr said.
"Hi, Dad." said Lincoln. The screen then shows Lana and Lola with their new Plusle and Minun.
"We love the Pokemon you just sent us." said Lola as she hugs her Minun.
"They're so cool!" said Lana.
"And this Porygon is quite fascinating." said Lisa. "An artificial lifeform is something even I never would've thought possible."
"Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm about to challenge the Hearthome City gym." said Lincoln.
"Sweet!" said Lynn Jr; the Louds back in Royal Woods all gather in their living room to watch Lincoln's upcoming match.
"Ready, bro?" asked Luna.
"As I'll ever be." said Lincoln.
The group, along with Barry, all enter the gym; they look around at its architecture, including the mason stone walls, and the stained-glass windows lining them.
"It's like a cathedral." said Clyde. Lincoln goes into the battle area while the rest of the group goes into the seats located alongside of it.
"Hello? Is the gym leader here?" Lincoln asked.
"She'd better be." said Sam.
"Bonjour!" a female voice from beyond a nearby set of doors calls out, making them look as they swing open to reveal a woman with purple hair that was tied in four, balloon-shaped pigtails, wearing a long sparkling purple dress with white dots and a yellow x on her hip, long white evening gloves that reach all the way up near her shoulders, and purple high heels.
"Wow!" said Leni. "That oufit is, totes, luxurious!"
"I wonder if it comes in pink." said Lola.
"Are you the gym leader?" asked Lincoln.
"Oui, oui." said the woman.
"She said 'wee wee'." said Lana with a chuckle.
"Don't be disgusting!" said Lola.
"Make me!" said Lana before the twins started fighting.
"I am Mademoiselle Fantina; the gym leader of the Hearthome Gym." said the woman now known as Fantina.
"I'm Lincoln Loud; I'm here to challenge you to a gym battle." said Lincoln.
"Very well." said Fantina. "I hope you provide me with a more plus resistant (a/n: french for tougher) challenge than the last trainer."
"Hey!" shouted Barry.
"I'm willing to give it my all." said Lincoln with a look of determination on his face.
"Magnifique." said Fantina.
"She's, totes, amazing!" said Leni. "She's fashionable and speaks French."
"Yeah, but don't forget we're cheering for Lincoln." said Rita.
Moments later, Lincoln and Fantina were standing on opposite ends of the battle arena as a man wearing a light blue tuxedo step onto a pedestal alongside of it.
"This gym battle is between the gym leader, Madame Fantina; and the challenger, Lincoln Loud." said the man. "Both trainers will use three Pokemon each. The first one to defeat all of their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the match begin."
Lincoln and Fantina each take a pokeball off their waist.
"Drifblim, emerge!" said Fantina as she tosses her pokeball, releasing a Pokemon that kind of looked like a Drifloon, but bigger, its body was a darker shade of purple, and had four light purple sashes for arms.
"What's that?" asked Dawn as she points her pokedex at Fantina's Pokemon.
"Drifblim, the Blimp Pokemon, and the evolved form of Drifloon. It carries people and Pokémon when it flies. But since it only drifts, it can end up anywhere." said Dawn's pokedex.
"Looks like she's a ghost Pokemon trainer." said Clyde.
"Wicked." said Lucy.
Lincoln tosses his pokeball, releasing his Infernape, or so Fantina believes.
"Okay, use Shadow Ball!" said Lincoln. His 'Infernape' forms a ball of dark energy in his hands and launches it at Fantina's Drifblim, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; Drifblim's body begins to go limp.
"Looks like that balloon's looking a little deflated." said Lynn Jr.
"That's because Shadow Ball can weaken it target's defenses." said Clyde.
"Drifblim, Astonish!" said Fantina. Her Drifblim turns its back to 'Infernape', then turns back around while making a scary face, but to its and Fantina's shock, it had no effect at all. "Impossible! Why didn't it work?!"
"Use Shadow Claw!" said Lincoln. His 'Infernape's' fingers become coated in dark energy as he swipes at Drifblim, dealing super effective damage, along with landing a critical hit.
"I never knew that an Infernape could learn Shadow Ball and Shadow Claw!" said Fantina. "Drifblim, use Payback!" Her Drifblim releasing dark streams of energy from its body that hit 'Infernape', dealing super effective damage; his body warps before he turns into Zoroark.
"Hey, that's not Infernape!" said Barry.
"Yep." said Lincoln. "That's a Hisuian Zoroark. She's part ghost and part normal types."
"That's why Astonish didn't work." said Fantina.
"Exactly; now, Zoroark, use Shadow Sneak!" said Lincoln. Zoroark's shadow moves behind Drifblim, rises from the ground, and slashes at it, dealing super effective damage.
"Drifblim, use Shock Wave!" said Fantina. Drifblim becomes surrounded by electricity; Drifblim releases a beam of electricity from its body, and it hits Zoroark, dealing damage.
"Zoroark, use Snarl!" said Lincoln. Zoroark releases a beam of purple energy rings from her mouth that hit Drifblim, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"NOOOOOO!" shouts Fantina.
"Drifblim is unable to battle. Zoroark is the winner." said the official.
"Way to go, Lincoln!" said Sam.
"Keep it up, bro!" said Luna.
"He never told me he had a Zoroark!" said Barry. "I'm going to fine him for that!"
"Well, it's not like you asked what other Pokemon he had." said Stella.
"I guess that's true." Barry said as he gawks at Stella with a blush on his face. Just then, an explosion erupts from Drifblim's body that washes over Zoroark, dealing damage to her.
"What was that?" asked Rita.
"That's Drifblim's Aftermath ability." said Fantina. "If the Pokemon with it is knocked out, then it explodes and damages its opponent."
"Are you okay, Zoroark?" Lincoln asked his Pokemon, getting a nod in response. Fantina returns her Drifblim to its pokeball.
"You were tres magnifique, Drifblim." said Fantina. She puts her pokeball back on her waist before pulling another one off. "Gengar, emerge!" She tosses her pokeball, releasing a dark purple ghostly Pokemon with red eyes, pointy ears, arms and legs, and spiky hairlike growths on its head.
"What's that?" asked Sam as she points her pokedex at Fantina's second Pokemon.
"Gengar, the Shadow Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Gastly. Lurking in the shadowy corners of rooms, it awaits chances to steal its prey's life-force." said Sam's pokedex.
"Try to find and catch that Pokemon for me, Lincoln." said Lucy.
"You know, Lucy; Gengar is the final evolved form of your Gastly." said Sam.
"Maybe if you had your Gastly do a few battles, he'll evolve into Haunter." said Dawn.
"But for Haunter to evolve into Gengar, you have to do a mock trade with another trainer." said Clyde.
"Hey; maybe after your Gastly evolves, you can come to this dimension, and you can do a mock trade with your Haunter and my Seadra." said Stella.
"Sounds like a good idea." said Lucy.
"Zoroark, use Shadow Sneak!" said Lincoln; his Zoroark's shadow moves behind Gengar, rises from the ground, and slashes at it, dealing super effective damage.
"Gengar, use Payback!" said Fantina. Her Gengar releases streams of energy from its body that hit Zoroark, dealing super effective damage; Zoroark flinches in pain as she tries to stay on her feet.
"Zoroark, use Bitter Malice!" said Lincoln. Zoroark's body becomes covered in blue flames as a dark portal appears beneath Gengar's feet; black and dark blue fire erupts from it that was washes over Gengar and does super effective damage; when the fire dies down, Gengar had frost covering its body.
"What is wrong with my Gengar?!" asked Fantina.
"Bitter Malice has a chance of giving its target the status condition called frostbite." said Lincoln.
"I've never heard of that." said Fantina.
"It's one that's not really seen nowadays." said Lincoln. Gengar flinches in pain as frostbite does damage. "Frostbite damages the Pokemon afflicted with it bit by bit over time."
"Gengar, use Fire Punch!" said Fantina. Her Gengar's fist becomes covered in fire as it punches Zoroark, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Zoroark is unable to battle. Gengar is the winner." said the official.
"Incredible." said Fantina.
"Man, that stinks." said Lynn.
"Lincoln can, literally, still win." said Lori. Lincoln returns his Zoroark to her pokeball.
"You were great, Zoroark." said Lincoln. He puts Zoroark's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off. "Floatzel, come on out!" He tosses his Floatzel's pokeball, letting him out. "Floatzel, use Aqua Jet!" His Floatzel propels himself towards Gengar as water covers his body and slams into it, dealing damage.
"Gengar, use Shadow Punch!" said Fantina. Her Gengar's fist becomes covered in a gray ghostly mist; it throws a punch, releasing a fist-shaped mass of spectral energy that hits Floatzel, dealing damage.
"Floatzel, use Waterfall!" said Lincoln. Floatzel raises his arms, making a geyser of water rise up from beneath Gengar and launches him upward; Floatzel then swims up it at fast speed and slams into Gengar, making it fall to the floor, unconscious.
"Gengar is unable to battle. Floatzel is the winner." said the official.
"Way to go, Lincoln!" said Stella.
"Keep it up!" said Dawn.
"You got this, bro!" said Luna. Fantina returns her Gengar to its pokeball.
"You were marvelous, Gengar." said Fantina. She puts her Gengar's pokeball back on her waist and pulls her last one off; she tosses it, releasing a tall, dark purple ghostly Pokemon with a tuft on her head that looked like a witch's hat, along with looking like it was wrapped in a cloak, and had red jewels on its upper body.
"What is that?" asked Lincoln as he points his pokedex at Fantina's pokemon.
"Mismagius, the Magicial Pokemon, and the evolved form of Misdreavus. It chants incantations. While these incantations can torment targets, some bring happiness." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"So many ghost Pokemon that I would like." said Lucy.
"Better act quickly." said Lincoln. "Floatzel, use Aqua Jet!" His Floatzel propels himself at the Mismagius while covered in water and slams into it.
"Mismagius, use Magical Leaf!" said Fantina. Her Mismagius releases a barrage of glowing green leaves that hits Floatzel, dealing super effective damage.
"Buizel, use Bite!" said Lincoln. His Buizel lunges at Mismagius and bites down hard on it, dealing super effective damage.
"Mismagius, use Phantom Force!" said Fantina. Her Mismagius disappears into a portal that appeared beneath it.
"Where did it go?" asked Stella. As Floatzel looks around for his opponent, a portal appears behind him and Mismagius comes out before striking him from behind, knocking him to the ground.
"Floatzel, use Water Gun!" said Lincoln. His Floatzel turns towards Mismagius and releases a spray of water from his mouth that hits Mismagius.
"Mismagius, use Magical Leaf again!" said Fantina. Her Mismagius hits Floatzel with another barrage of glowing leaves, this time doing enough damage to knock him out.
"Floatzel is unable to battle. Mismagius is the winner." said the official.
"Excellent performance, Mismagius." said Fantina, making her Pokemon smile and nod.
"You can do it, Lincoln!" said Stella.
"I'll fine you if you don't!" said Barry. Lincoln returns his Floatzel to his pokeball.
"Rest up, Floatzel." said Lincoln. He puts Floatzel's pokeball back on his waist and pulls off his last one; he tosses it, releasing his Dragonair.
"Such a magnificent Pokemon." said Fantina.
"She sure is." said Lincoln. "Dragonair, use Twister!" His Dragonair swings her tail, relesaing a twister that catches Mismagius and spins her before she falls to the ground, as well as making her flinch. "Now use Aqua Tail!" Her Dragonair swings her tail again, this time while it's covered in water, and slams it into Mismagius, knocking her to the ground.
"Mismagius, use Confuse Ray!" said Fantina. Mismagius's eyes glowed purple, making Dragonair's do the same thing, and she starts to get woozy.
"Better be careful, Lincoln!" said Clyde.
"Dragonair, try to snap out of it and use Twister again!" said Lincoln. Dragonair tries to do this, but she falls onto the floor, hurting herself.
"Mismagius, use Phantom Force!" said Fantina. Her Mismagius goes into another portal, then reappears beneath Dragonair and strikes her belly; this brings Dragonair back to her senses.
"Dragonair, use Dragon Rush!" said Lincoln. Dragonair becomes covered in a blue aura that resembled a blue serpent dragon and rushes towards Mismagius; she slams into it with such force it creates an explosion that forces everyone to shield their eyes.
"That's intense!" said Lynn Jr.
"Be careful, Lincoln!" said Rita.
Back at the gym, the dust was beginning to clear; when everyone can see the Pokemon on the battlefield, they see Mismagius was knocked out.
"Mismagius is unable to battle. Dragonair's the winner. The winner of the match is the challenger, Lincoln Loud." said the official.
"We did it, Dragonair!" cheered Lincoln, making Dragonair let out a soft yell out of joy.
"Lincoln won!" said Clyde.
"I'm so glad he did!" said Stella.
"So am I!" said Dawn.
"That was amazing!" said Simon.
"I can't believe he won when I didn't!" said Barry. "Remind me to fine him for that!"
"Bro won!" said Lynn Jr.
"I knew he would." said Leni. Fantina returns her Mismagius to its pokeball.
"You battled marvelously, Mismagius." said Fantina. She puts Mismagius's pokeball back on her waist and walks over to Lincoln who was being congratulated by Luna and their friends. "You were a very magnifique trainer, Lincoln."
"Thank you, Fantina." said Lincoln. Fantina smiles before she holds out a gym badge that looked like three purple circles joined by a gray ring.
"As proof of your victory here, I present you with ze Relic Badge." said Fantina as she hands the gym badge, along with some pokedollars, to Lincoln.
"Awesome!" said Lincoln as he holds up his Relic Badge.
"Three more to go, buddy!" said Clyde.
"Congratulations, Lincoln." Stella says before she kisses Lincoln on the lips, making Lincoln's sisters giggle, and Dawn and Barry growl.
Lincoln has just earned his fifth badge. What will he and his group do next as their Sinnoh adventures continue?
Meanwhile, at the Loud house's backyard, Lucy's Gastly was facing Lisa's Girafarig, who was shuddering, courtesy of Gastly's Lick attack.
"Gastly, use Payback." said Lucy. Gastly flies at Girafarig and rams her, dealing super effective damage, and knocking her out. "Soon, Gastly; you will become a Gengar."
"I hope Gastly evolves soon." said Lori as she held a battered Clamperl.
