Wayward Wood
As the Galaxy Team Survey Corps continue to make their way through Wayward Cave, they all come across a bunch of unlit torches that were leaning against a tunnel wall.
"There are the torches." said Warden Ingo.
"That Melli guy must've just left them here." said Lana.
"If he didn't want us to find them, he should've just thrown them into that small lake." said Lynn.
"I'll go put them back where they belong." said Warden Ingo.
"Let me have Typhlosion light them for you." said Lincoln.
"Thank you." said Warden Ingo. He and Lincoln then follow the tunnel to the entrance while leaving a trail of torches and having Typhlosion light them; once they were done, they follow them back to the others.
"That's done." said Lincoln.
"Thanks for your help, Lincoln." said Warden Ingo. "If we follow the torches me and Lincoln set out ahead, we shall reach the terminus of this cave!"
"Let's get going." said Akari as she grabs Lincoln's hand, making him blush, and starts pulling him down towards the exit that was just ahead of them.
They all soon exit the tunnel and enter a clearing where they see the space time rift just ahead of them.
"I am very eager to learn more about that phenomenon." said Lisa.
"As am I." said Professor Laventon.
"I recall you telling me about how the Loud siblings appeared out of nowhere at Prelude Beach." said Warden Ingo. "I also simply found myself one day here in Hisui, a region whose name I've never heard. All I could remember was my name."
"Us, too." said Luan.
"And that we were siblings." said Lucy.
"I was still standing there in bafflement when the Pearl Clan came to my aid." said Warden Ingo. "I showed a natural affinity for taming Pokemon, which is why I eventually became a warden."
"The Loud siblings have shown a talent for handling Pokemon themselves." said Professor Laventon.
"But still, I wonder what my true purpose is here." said Warden Ingo.
"Perhaps we should continue on towards the space time rift." said Lisa.
"Yes, I've sidetracked us long enough with this talk." said Warden Ingo. "Let's hurry onward!"
They all then start making their way towards their destination when Luan remembered the Pokemon she caught in Wayward Cave.
"Professor Laventon; could you tell me what this Pokemon is?" asked Luan as she lets the Pokemon she caught earlier out of its pokeball.
"That Pokemon is called a Barboach." said Professor Laventon. "It appears to be a male one, and the ones in Wayward Cave should know Mud-Slap, Water Pulse, Mud Bomb, Rest, and Zen Headbutt."
"Thanks, Professor." said Luan.
"So where are we now?" asked Lana as she looks around the area they were in.
"I believe this place is called the Wayward Wood." said Professor Laventon.
"I shall take the time to study the Pokemon that live in this area." said Lisa.
"And I could train up mine for when I have a rematch with Lincoln." said Lynn.
"Are you still upset about losing?" asked Luna.
"I don't know why, but I don't like losing a whole lot." said Lynn.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lucy as she sees a dark blue, stag beetle-like Pokemon flying around.
"That's a Heracross." said Professor Laventon. "It is part fighting type and part bug type."
"This one's mine." said Lynn as she takes out a pokeball; she throws it, releasing her Decidueye. "Decidueye, use Aerial Ace!" Decidueye flies towards Heracross while white streaks surrounded his body and he rams into Heracross, dealing super effective damage. Heracross flies towards Decidueye while white streaks surrounded its body and rams into Decidueye, dealing super effective damage to him.
"It would appear Heracross knows Aerial Ace also." said Professor Laventon.
"Decidueye, use Air Slash!" said Lynn. Decidueye flaps his arm wings and releases circular blades of energy from them, and they hit Heracross, dealing super effective damage. Heracross flies at Decidueye and slashes him with its claws, dealing damage.
"This Pokemon doesn't know when to quit." said Lincoln.
"My kind of Pokemon; Decidueye, use Aerial Ace one more time!" said Lynn. Decidueye flies at Heracross while white streaks surrounded his body and he rams Heracross, dealing super effective damage, and knocking Heracross to the ground. Lynn takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Heracross, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a couple times until a firework shoots up from it. "Yes! Heracross is mine!"
"Well done, elder sister; more to add to the pokedex." said Lisa as she writes on the pokedex.
"Your Heracross appears to be male, and he should know Tackle, Rock Smash, Pin Missile, Aerial Ace, Slash, Swords Dance, and Double Edge." said Professor Laventon.
"Nice." said Lynn.
"Let's just get going." said Rei.
As they travelled, the Loud siblings took the time to train their Pokemon.
Lincoln's Pokemon got stronger; his Gallade soon learned Leaf Blade.
Lynn's Decidueye learned Leaf Storm, her Onix learned Iron Tail, her Machoke learned Close Combat, and her Octillery and Heracross got stronger.
Luan's Pokemon got stronger; her Mr. Mime soon learned learned Dazzling Gleam. During the training, her Barboach began to glow.
"Hey, Barboach is evolving!" said Luan. Everyone watched as Barboach began to grow; when he stopped glowing, she resembled a dark blue catfish with a yellow underside and whiskers, and a yellow, W-shaped mark on its forehead.
"Your Barboach evolved into Whiscash, Luan." said Lisa.
"Yay!" said Luan.
Lana's Pokemon got stronger as she trained them; her Infernape learned Double Edge, and her Skuntank learned Double Edge.
Luna's Pokemon got stronger, her Ambipom soon learned Iron Tail.
Lucy's Drifblim learned Extrasensory and Shadow Ball, her Murkrow learned Dark Pulse, and her Umbreon learned Double Edge.
Lisa's Pokemon also got stronger; her Magmar soon learned Fire Blast.
They all then continue on until they reach an entrance into a small mountain and see an unwelcomed sight in Warden Melli.
"You!" shouts Lynn as she glares at the Diamond Clan warden.
"What's the big idea, putting back the torches I spent ages tidying away?" asked Warden Melli. "Do you get some sort of amusement stomping around and ruining people's noble deeds?"
"Noble?!" Luan replied.
"Rendering a cave impassable to people who venture inside hardly seems noble to me." said Warden Ingo.
"Yeah, someone could end up lost in those tunnels for, possibly, days!" said Akari.
"Hmph." Warden Melli replied. "Well, this goes to show that even we wardens don't always see eye to eye."
"I should give you a black eye for giving us trouble like that!" said Lynn as she punches the palm of her hand.
"I extinguished those lights for the sake of the Pokemon in that cave who prefer the dark." said Melli.
"I'm okay with the dark." Lucy says from behind Melli, startling him.
"How does she do that?" asked Melli. "Anyway, you louts have put my efforts to waste. If you think I'll let you saunter ahead to meet Lord Electrode, you're sorely mistaken!"
"You're gonna be sore when I get through with you!" said Lynn.
"The only way you're getting past me... is if you beat my Skuntank!" said Warden Melli.
"I've already beaten it." said Lynn.
"Let me do it." said Luan.
"You sure?" asked Lynn.
"I wanna try battling with Whiscash." said Luan.
"Sure, I don't want to waste any more time battling this chump." said Lynn.
"Very well." said Warden Melli.
Everyone else backs away to give the two some room to battle with; Melli lets out a whistle and his Skuntank comes out from a nearby bush and out in front of him.
"Come, Skuntank!" Melli says to her Pokemon. "Show these louts the true meaning of silent but deadly!" Lana chuckles in response to that.
"What's so funny, Lana?" asked Rei.
"I don't know why, but that silent but deadly part is funny to me." said Lana. "And for some reason, it reminds me of Lori."
"Why?" asked Akari.
"Wish I could remember." said Lana. Luan then takes a pokeball off her waist and tosses it, releasing her Barboach.
"Whiscash, use Mud Bomb!" said Luan. Her Barboach launches a large glob of mud at Skuntank, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; some mud gets into its eyes.
"Skuntank, use Night Slash!" said Melli. His Skuntank tries to strike Whiscash with its claws that were covered in dark energy, but due to the mud in its eyes, its attack misses.
"Whiscash, use Water Pulse!" said Luan. Her Whiscash releases a large mass of pulsating water that hits Skuntank, dealing damage.
"Skuntank, use Tackle!" said Melli. His Skuntank charges at Whiscash and was able to ram into him, dealing damage.
"Whiscash, use Mud-Slap!" said Luan. Whiscash sprays a stream of mud out of his mouth, and it hits Skuntank, dealing super effective damage.
"Skuntank, use Acid Spray!" said Melli. His Skuntank releases a spray of purple liquid that washes over Whiscash, not doing much damage, but his skin looked a bit more exposed.
"Acid Spray can weaken defenses." said Lisa.
"Whiscash, use Mud Bomb again!" said Luan. Her Whiscash hits Skuntank with one more large glob of mud, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"NOOOOOOO!" shouts Warden Melli.
"Ha! In your face, chump!" said Lynn.
"Way to go, Luan!" said Lincoln.
"Listen here!" said Warden Melli. "Neither I nor Skuntank admit defeat just yet; our challenge to you still stands!"
"Anytime you wanna battle us, we'll be ready!" said Lynn.
"I will withdraw in order to afford Skuntank time to recover." said Warden Melli.
"Wimp." said Lynn.
"There's no shame in a tactical retreat." said Warden Melli. "It's more of an advance, if you think about it!"
"Sure." Lynn said while doing an eyeroll.
"Keep your guard up, we'll be back!" said Melli before he runs into the tunnel behind him.
"Like I said, we'll be ready!" said Lynn.
"He is quite an annoying person." said Lisa.
"He's just passionate about Pokemon." said Warden Ingo.
"I guess I can respect that." said Lincoln.
"We wasted enough time because of that chump." said Lynn.
"Yeah, we should get going." said Luan.
"Very well." said Professor Laventon. Luan returns her Whiscash to his pokeball and everyone continue onward.
In a chamber with large square rocks stacked up in it, the Miss Fortune Bandits were waiting for the Galaxy Team Survey Corps to arrive.
"This is the perfect place for an ambush." said Coin.
"Agreed." said Charm. "Soon, that pokedex will be ours."
"But I still get my future husband." said Clover.
"Worry about that later." said Charm.
The Miss Fortune Bandits have plans for the Galaxy Team Survey Corps. What will they do? Wait and find out.
