Coumarine City
"Farfetch'd, use Air Cutter!" said Lincoln. His Farfetch'd, who had some purple under her eyes, flaps her wings, releasing light blue energy blades from them that hits another boy's Beedrill, dealing super effective damage; Beedrill falls to the ground, unconscious.
"All right, Lincoln!" cheered Tierno.
"That was amazing!" said Trevor. Beedrill's trainer returns Beedrill to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Beedrill." said Beedrill's trainer. He puts Beedrill's pokeball away and walks over to Lincoln. "Good battle."
"Thanks." replied Lincoln.
"I wish I had Beedrillite so I can Mega Evolve my Beedrill; unfortunately, you can only find those in the Hoenn Region." said Beedrill's trainer.
"I'm sure you'll get one someday." replied Lincoln; Beedrill's trainer smiles in response. He gives Lincoln's pokedollars and walks away. After Lincoln returns Farfetch'd to her pokeball, his friends walk over to him.
"Should we get going?" asked Serena.
"Sure." replied Lincoln. The group continue walking down Route 12.
Moments later, they were looking at a city that was next to a sea; the city was Coumarine City.
"We're here!" said Lincoln.
"Are you going to the gym, Lincoln?" asked Shauna.
"First, I want to take my Pokemon to the Pokemon Center." replied Lincoln.
"Can we eat first while we're there?" asked Tierno.
"Sure; I could use a bite to eat myself." replied Lincoln. As they walked by the sea towards Courmarine City, Lincoln sees a boat dock with several boats next to it. "I wish me and my family had one of these boats instead of that piece of junk Flip had us use."
"Where do you think the gym is?" asked Serena.
"Don't know; let's ask someone." replied Trevor. As the group walked through Coumarine City, Shauna begins sniffing the air.
"What smells so nice?" asked Shauna. Everyone else begins sniffing the air; they followed the smell to a booth that had several incense burners with a man behind it. The group walks over to the booth.
"Excuse me, but what are these?" Serena asked the man behind the booth.
"These are several kinds of incenses." replied the man; she picks up a blue incense burner. "This is called a Wave Incense; it can increase the power of water type attacks of the Pokemon holding it."
"Wow; I think I'll buy one for my Wartortle." said Tierno, reaching into his pocket and pulling out pokedollars; he gives the woman pokedollars and she gives Tierno the Wave Incense.
"I'll buy one for my Simipour." said Lincoln, pulling out pokedolllars.
"I'll buy one for Frogadier." said Serena as she takes out pokedollars from her pocket.
"And I'll buy one for Azumarill." said Shauna.
"I'll buy one for Mantyke." said Trevor.
"I'll buy one for Corphish too." said Tierno.
"Very good." said the man, smiling.
"What other incenses do you have?" asked Shauna. The man holds up an incense burner with magenta markings.
"This is a Rose Incense; it increases the power of grass type attacks of the Pokemon holding it." replied the woman.
"I'll buy one for my Ivysaur." said Shauna.
"I'll buy one for my Simisage." said Trevor.
"My Florges knows some grass type moves; I'll buy one for her." said Lincoln.
"My Gloom can use one." said Tierno; the boys and Shauna paid for the Rose Incenses.
"Anything else I can help you with?" asked the man.
"Yeah; do you know where the Pokemon Center is?" asked Lincoln.
"It's on the other side of town." replied the man. "If you want to get there quicker, you can take the monorail." The woman points at a monorail that was on a track that was next to a small station.
"Thank you." said Lincoln. The group began walking to the building that next to the monorail track. Once the group entered the station, they were surprised to see Professor Sycamore.
"Professor Sycamore?" said Trevor, getting Professor Sycamore's attention.
"Hello, children." replied Professor Sycamore. Lincoln and his friends saw that Professor Sycamore was with a woman with short, light brown hair, wearing a white blazer with cloud like wings on the back over a white shirt, short white shorts, high heeled boots, a white choker, a gold, swan-shaped necklace that appeared to have a Mega Stone on it, while carrying a pink purse.
"Hey, you're Diantha; the Kalos Region champion!" said Shauna.
"That's right." replied the woman, now identified as Diantha.
"How are you children doing on your journey?" asked Professor Sycamore.
"Great." replied Lincoln as he holds up his Mega Ring, prompting the rest of the group to do the same.
"Very good; now you all have what you need to Mega Evolve your Pokemon." said Professor Sycamore.
"We still need to wait for our Pokemon to evolve to their final forms." said Lincoln. Serean reaches into her bag and pulls out her Ampharosite.
"Hey, Professor; check out my new Mega Stone." said Serena, showing Professor Sycamore her Ampharosite.
"What is that?" asked Professor Sycamore.
"Ampharosite." replied Serena.
"Wherever did you find it?" asked Professor Sycamore.
"A man at Azure Bay gave it to me." said Serena. "Now I can Mega Evolve my Flaaffy when she evolves into Ampharos."
"Congratulations, Serena." replied Professor Sycamore. "Have you children been bonding with your Pokemon; a strong bond is important in Mega Evolving your Pokemon."
"A strong bond?" Diantha asked Professor Sycamore.
"It's only a hypothesis, but I think the bond between a Pokemon and trainer is the key to Mega Evolution." said Professor Sycamore. "But what is this bond and why are there examples of Mega Evolution only in the Kalos Region?"
"Does this make you think of something like Kalos Legendary Pokemon?" asked Diantha. "Found only here in the Kalos region, right? Nowhere else? Maybe that's not a coincidence."
"An excellent point." replied Professor Sycamore. "The more you know, the more there is to research; the excitement never ends, does it?" He turned towards Lincoln and his friends. "I have something I think you children can use?" He walks over to them and takes a Hidden Machine out of his pocket.
"What is that?" asked Trevor.
"It contains a move called Fly." replied Professor Sycamore. "With this move, flying type Pokemon can take you to cities or towns you have been in recently."
"That would make going places a lot quicker." said Lincoln.
"So, what are you all up to now?" asked Professor Sycamore.
"Lincoln's here to challenge the Coumarine City gym to win his fourth gym badge." said Shauna.
"It's great to know you're doing so well, Lincoln." said Professor Sycamore. "Speaking of gyms, Lincoln; the Lumiose City gym is open again."
"I'll go there after my gym battle here." said Lincoln.
"I wish you the best of luck, Lincoln." said Professor Sycamore.
"Thank you." said Lincoln. Professor Sycamore then leaves the station, followed by Diantha.
Moments later, Lincoln and his friends were sitting inside the monorail as it sped across Courmaine City.
"This is way better than walking." said Trevor. Several minutes later, the group arrived at another station on the other side of Courmarine City. Once they exited the monorail and left the station, they looked around until they saw a Pokemon Center. As they walked towards it, Shauna sees a massive tree.
"Wow; look at the size of that tree." said Shauna.
"That's not just a tree; that's the Coumarine City gym." said a man nearby.
"That's the gym?" asked Lincoln; the man nods in response. "Well, now we know where the gym is." The group walks to the Courmarine City Pokemon Center. After the group gave the nurse their Pokemon, they went to the cafeteria; moments later, they were at a table, eating.
"So, Lincoln; what Pokemon do you think the gym leader uses?" asked Shauna.
"Well, seeing how the gym is inside a giant tree, I can only assume the gym leader there uses grass type Pokemon." replied Lincoln. "If this gym leader does, then I will definitely use Braixen and Farfetch'd; dragon types are resistant to grass type attacks, so I'll probably use Shelgon also since he knows a fire type move."
"I'm sure whatever Pokemon this gym leader uses, I'm sure you will win." said Shauna, making Lincoln smile.
"But it's getting kind of late." said Trevor.
"Yeah, it has been a long day." said Lincoln.
"How about you challenge the gym tomorrow?" suggested Shauna.
"I suppose one day won't hurt." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, I could use some shut eye." said Tierno.
"We all could." said Serena.
"Let's go to be then." said Lincoln.
After the group finished eating, they get their Pokemon back from the nurse. After that, they all go to their rooms, shower, and go to sleep.
The next morning, after Lincoln and his friends have breakfast, they were all standing in front of the massive tree that was the Coumarine City gym.
"So, where do I go to battle?" asked Lincoln. Everyone looks around for a door until they see a large root that spiraled up the tree.
"Maybe we need to go up that to the top." said Tierno.
"Let's get started." said Shauna as she grabs Lincoln's hand, making him blush, and starts leading him and the others up the root.
They soon make it to the top of the tree where they see a large Pokemon battle arena; they also see what looked like a small greenhouse as well.
"Where's the gym leader at?" asked Tierno. As they look around, the greenhouse door opens, and an elderly bald man with a white spiky beard, wearing a green long-sleeved shirt under brown suspenders, gray pants with a brown belt and holster, green boots with brown soles, a green cap, and an orange scarf, walks out of the greenhouse while holding garden scissors.
"May I help you children?" asked the man.
"Excuse me, sir; but are you the gym leader here?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes I am; my name is Ramos." replied the man, now identified as Ramos.
"Well, sir, my name is Lincoln Loud." said Lincoln. "I would like to have a gym battle with you." Ramos puts his gardening scissors into the holster on his belt.
"Very well, young man." said Ramos. "But first, how about some tea? You probably need a little pick-me-up after making your way all the way up here."
"I don't see why not." said Lincoln. Soon, they were all sitting around a table in a nook of the tree with bookshelves in it, having tea.
"This is a nice place you got here." said Shauna.
"Thanks, young one." Ramon replied. "I've been looking after this tree for a long time now."
"I know about treehouses, but this takes the cake." said Lincoln.
"So where did you all come from?" asked Ramos.
"I'm from Santalune City." said Tierno.
"I'm from Lumiose City." said Trevor.
"I'm from Vaniville Town." said Shauna.
"So am I." said Serena.
"I'm from Royal Woods." said Lincoln.
"I never heard of that town." said Ramos.
"I'm not from the Kalos region." said Lincoln.
"What brought you here?" asked Ramos, getting a frown from Lincoln who then goes on to tell the gym leader about the boating incident with his family that resulted in him washing up in Ambrette Town where Professor Sycamore found him, along with what he's been up to and accomplished since his arrival, while Shauna had her hand on one of Lincoln's.
"I'm sorry about what happened to you, young man." said Ramos.
"Don't worry about it." said Lincoln. "I just hope that my family is okay."
"So do I." said Ramos. Lincoln then gulps down the last of his tea and stands up with a look of determination.
"I think I'm ready for my gym battle now." said Lincoln.
"We'll see." said Ramos. "I've been training long before you were born, so don't expect an easy match."
"I never do." said Lincoln. Moments later, Lincoln and Ramos were standing on opposite ends of the battle arena while Lincoln's friends stood outside the battlefield, watching with anticipation.
"Good luck, Lincoln." said Shauna.
Lincoln has finally arrived at the Coumarine City gym. Will he defeat Ramos and earn his fourth badge? Wait and find out.
