Chapter 8 : Settling In
It was as dark cold night in the city of musutafu with the city only being visible by the lights of the bustling city. As it was turning night the streets began to clear out with a few exceptions being the usual underground heros that operated in the night and villains who took their crimes in the night. But other than that the city streets where quite even the roads were clear of any traffic all except for one police car that drove on with its headlights mysteriously off. As is housed a curtain occupant inside who was far from normal as she wasn't even human or had physical form. For she was literally a living AI who was expecting to be in the care of someone know as just Midnight by others.
As they were on the road the driver known as detective Tsukauchi from the city police department had been asking Sage on clarifications to her and Sonic's background. All of which the she happily replied in simple and mostly honest responses.
Tsukauchi : "So let me get this straight you were originally a simple AI, but after coming into contact with some ancient alien technology, you began to have actual emotions of that of a real person. Did I get that right?" asked Tsukauchi looking in the rearview mirror to someone in the backseat of the car.
That person being Sage Robotnik.
Sage : "Yes, you are correct Detective." She responded genuinely looking up to meeting detective's view.
Thought that was only half true for Sage hadn't given the detective the full details of the her and Sonic's stories.
Sage : (I can't tell him about father or else that might bring some unwanted concerns, that me and the hedgehog don't want to have.) though Sage with closed irises.
Her train of though was broken when Tsukauchi called her by name.
Tsukauchi : "So... Sage not to be rude, but when you and Sonic talked about your world. You didn't seem to mention the person that created you. Why is that?" He asked with the same calmness and polite tone, but there was an ounce of tension this time.
Deep down Tsukauchi had a feeling ever since meeting the two that something was up even without him using his signature quirk. For he was use to hearing vague but honest statements before from previous convictes with Sage being not different. Since what they say often lacking key details or we're just straight up lying. Though he couldn't say anything before as he wanted to avoid any further conflicts between both Sage and Sonic during their interrogation. But now with one of then gone it was the right time for him to strike.
Sage however, picked up that's something was wrong however and was quick to answer his concerns.
Sage : "If you really wanna know detective, it was my father that created me. Simple as that." said Sage neutrally as if she wasn't just threatened.
Though she didn't stop there as she continue to speak, for she was the one asking questions to the detective.
Sage : "But, detective if I may ask. Why didn't you ask me this during my interrogation? You do know that it's illegal for you to continue questioning someone after they have clearly invoked their right to remain silent during an interrogation. ..." She asked as innocently as she could without throw off suspicions.
Tsukauchi broke his graze for second return sooner after. Though he still remained silent since he knew that what Sage was saying was true. But one thing she didn't know was that this wouldn't be the first time were he break command.
Sage : "I'm just saying it would've made sense to ask me then an there. You wouldn't want your career to be ruined. DO YOU." Sage explained though this time with a similar tone to tsukauchies that he gave her.
Sage soon narrowed her own optics, meeting with detective gaze on the rearview mirror each locking their eyes at one another and for a few minutes their was daed silence in the car. For a while, there was no sound other than the car's engine and the tires running along the roads pavement. The streets being mostly empty meant that Tsukauchi could drive much easier then usual while staring back at Sage. Which resulted in the tension growing so thicc that you could cut it with a knife. But eventually someone would have talk before the ride would turn even more tense than it already was.
And that person was Sage.
Sage : "But don't worry detective it's all right. Go ahead ask some more I'll be a secret between you and me." said Sage no longer with narrowed eyes but with a pleasant smile.
Though he was skeptical Tsukauchi accepted her deal.
Tsukauchi : "Okay...Very well then." He said easing his shoulders a bit in his seat after avoid anymore tension between him and Sage.
Tsukauchi : "So, you call your creator by father who is he and why did he make you?" Tsukauchi asked curious to what the AI had to say.
As Tsukauchi said this he mentally prepared a list of reasons of his own reans in his head to prepare for the shock.
Tsukauchi : (So.. is this part of her program, a fail safe, maybe to protect the identity of her creator. Just who is this man or woman. Is he an ally or villain, the answers that I need are right in front of me, all I need to do is play my cards right.) Pondered the detective turning away from the rearview mirror focusing on the road.
He was now faced the cities street waiting anxiously for the young AI's reply. Sage crossed he arms around her small torso before finally responding with one simple word.
Sage :"No."
Tsukauchi : "Wait No?! I'm sorry what!" Said Tsuakuchi his eyes widened, a mixture of shock and confusion etched on his face by the AI's answer.
The air seemed thick, heavy with the weight of the unexpected but was quick over shadowed by what Sage said next.
Sage : "No, what I mean if you are confused. I don't call him by 'Father' because of my programming if that's what you're thinking. I call him father because he is my real father for it was he who not only created me but also gave me love as if I was a real person." Sage said calmly in a warm voice mimicking that of a real child if she was compared to one.
Tsukauchi's eyes widening in disbelief as if a sudden jolt of electricity had coursed through his veins leaving him momentarily stunned at what had just Sage said. But that wasn't what surprised him the most.
Tsukauchi : (Wait how did she know what I was thinking.) questioned Tsukauchi in his mind.
Sage : "And to be honest I can't remember much about him generally, ...my systems are still glitchy from you know what." Sage said somberly as she place her hand over her heart. "I'm guessing that my systems or my memory was damaged from my fall."
Tsukauchi seeing this was conflicted.
Tsukauchi : (Oh man What have I done. I must have really hit her hard either that or her actings good. But to be real though I think she's actually telling the truth.) Tsukauchi though with some regret as he now tried to just focus on driving looking away from her view.
Unbeknownst to him however Sage would begin her final act. For just as things were about to return to being quiet Sage again began to speak.
Sage : "Haha you want to know what's ...funny..." Sage laughed with shakiness in her voice.
Sage : "...what hurts me the most wasn't you're mistrust in me b-but... That fact t-that you reminded me that I can no longer protect father." she explained stuttering.
Tsukauchi : "Sage." he said, trying to interrupt her.(Man you really screwed up big time Tsukauchi.) he said hating himself what he had done to the poor girl not AI.
Sage : "F-for I was originally made to protect him from anything, ...b-but now that I'm here... in another world." As she said this she began stroking her white dreadlocks, rapidly add an unusual rate.
As she did her whole body began to turn from her usual red texture to a tranquil blue along with her eyes and streak of red on her hair. Her colors light the whole interior of the car thankfully not flash Tsukauchi's view.
Tsukauchi : "Sage wait! I didn't mean..." Tsukauchi desperately tried again but failed.
Sage : "I-I-I don't know how he's doing or if he's OK without me." She said fully began breaking down with teary eyes running down her face.
Sage's digital disguise was now fully wearing off to reveal her now sliver dress and the red digital affects all over her body being a tranquil blue. Though she did not know this as she had her hands covering her tearful face. Meanwhile Tsukauchi was over seeing all of this with guilt written all over his face for he felt responsible for the younge AI's breakdown.
Seeing all this Tsukauch was bit taken aback as he had never seen the girl act in such a manner like this before. For instead of the out about and confidence she normal would have this time she seem more valuable.
Tsukauchi : (Oh gosh what have I done?) Whispered Tsukauchi to himself with guilt in his voice.
Tsukauchi : (She really is human even if she doesn't have a physically body. I shouldn't have push too hard.) though Tsukauchi who turned to focus road not even able to look at Sage anymore.
Sage saw this however and knew how he was feeling. To which she just grinned as she returned to her usual black dress and red digital particle self.
Sage : "Crisis averted." whispered Sage from under her breath.
Though her seconds of accomplishment faded as this act still reminded her of her father. But soon after this the two wouldn't talk for the rest of the trip. That was untill the cars engine was truned off and came to with a smooth end with Sage popping her head up to see where they were. Though it was almost pitch black she was still able to make out a few small ponds surrounded by cherry blossom trees, scattered benches and even a brigade or two. Leading her believe that they were in a park of some kind.
Sage and Tsukauchi then got out of the car and now waited a few mintues before they began to hear footsteps approaching from behind them. Sage immediately activated her more human like disguise as Tsukachi got off from leaning on the car. Tsukauchi then began greeting whoever was to take Sage under her wing.
Tsukauchi : "It nice to see that your up so late for this. For a moment I though you wouldn't agree to this." sighed Tsukauchi.
??? : "Oh don't worry detective you know me, I would do anything to help someone in need." Reassured, a warn and calm female voice.
The shadowy figure of the voice slowly approach them with click clack which could be described as her warning heel. A street lap's light helping to revive who the voice belonged to as a dark hair raven curvy woman was revealed.
She supported thigh high heels, her body in a skin tight suit, along with a vest that partially covers her busty chest, with yellow utility belt housing a whip and a small red rounded domino mask on her face. For this was no other the pro-hero Midnight. The same Midnight who Sage had met before during the sludge villian attack.
As Midnight walked she got closer to Sage before couching down to meet her gaze.
Midnight : "Especially if it's for those who happened to helped a hero take down a big bad vigilante." Said Midnight extending her over Sage's head.
Sage not wanting to be rude she walked closer allowing Midnight ruffle her hair a bit.
Midnight : "Or in your case a idiotic brother." Midnight added with a smile to the girl.
Sage : "Why yes, and it's a pleasure to see you again Ms. Midnight." Said Sage with biw beifre looking up to met the woman's gaze.
Midnight : "My, my you really know you're heroines don't you? For a second I thought you might've forgotten about me. But then again their isn't anybody with beautiful body like me." Midnight said tooking a seductive pose of her behind exsopsing her curves to the the two.
Though it didn't last long as she had now realized that there was child in her presence.
Midnight : "Whoops... Ah...Haha I'm truly sorry about that got carried away! I'm sorry!" Midnight exclaimed drastically as she took a big bow before the them.
Sage : "Don't worry it's alright ." Reassured Sage all while having her eyes being covered by Tsukauchi hands. "I've seen worse of the internet through deviantart."
This earned Sage some blank stares from both the heroine and detective who really didn't have a comment on what she had just told them. So they didn't question it any further.
Tsukauchi : With a huff, Tsukauchi said "Okay? But still Midnight just don't do that while you're taking care of her please. We... don't wanna have any more case like Pixie Bob happening again." He sighed tiredly rubbing his eyes with his hand.
Midnight : "Oh please detective you have nothing to worry about, you know me." Chuckled Midnight at Tsukauchi.
Tsukauchi : "Yeah, I do." Said Tsukauchi unconvinced.
Midnight : "Oh come on Tsukauchi, I'm not that crazy or should I say desperate like that blond cat bimbo for crying out loud!" Snapped back Midnight. "Nothing will happen to her on my watch, trust me I'm serious. ...Plus I'm into guys." She annoyingly added at the end.
Tsukauchi : "That are younger than you." Tsukauchi pointed out.
Midnight : "Don't you dare start there?" Midnight piped at the detective. "So what if I like men younger than me huh. I-It's not like I'm not forcing them or anything they just like what they see."
Tsukauchi : "You mean you seduce them." Tsukauchi clarified.
Midnight : "OK, it's not like that!" Exclaimed Midnight defensively.
For what felt like hours of back-and-forth, Midnight finally had convinced Tsukauchi of her good intentions, to annoyance of Sage who rather enjoy the chaotic scene. With that out of the way, Tsukauchi began head towrds the police cruiser but just he was about to enter to officially depart. He stopped and began walking towards Sage, where he then crouched down on one knee to meet her gaze.
He still felt rather guilty for how he treated Sage he had treated her as more of an AI than a real person. So seeing as they were about to separate he knew that it was only right that he apologize for his actions.
Tsukauchi : "Hey uhm Sage ...so about what happened in the car." Tsukauchi began apologetically preparing his apology. "I just want to say that..."
Sage : "Detective please stop." Interrupted Sage with her left palm up stoping him in his tracks. "What happened there I'm over it now, it's okay, I have all ready forgiven you. There is not need for you shame yourself any lower." She said warmly though with a more than innocent smile.
Sage : (But if you so to dare or try threaten me again, nobody will know you have ever existed!) Said Sage from the back of her mind with hidden fury.
Tsukauchi : "Thank you Sage". Tsukauchi said back.
Unaware of Sage's hidden contempt Tsukauchi breathed a sigh of relief as he began to walk back, to the car, knowing that he and Sage had finally buried the hatchet.
As Tsukauchi began to drive off Sage was now left alone with the pro-hero Midnight, who now waited silently for her to take a seat in her car. Sage used her levitation to float a few inches off the ground before opening the passanger seat door but her movements were interrupted by a sharp but brief glance from Midnight. Sage seeing this immediately turned her movement towards the back seat surprising Midnight of Sage's obedience.
Midnight : (Okay that was easier than I thought. I expected her to at least argue back, but I can work with this.) though midnight with warm smile at the younge girl.
With Sage inside Midnight started the engine which rumbled to life softly. Sage turned to Midnight, who still wasn't quite used to her new situation, and asked.
Sage : "Ms. Midnight..."
But before she could continue she was interrupted.
Nemuri : "Call me Nemuri Kayama sweetie or Kayama for short. I still have an identity to hide, you know." Midnight said in her usual calm voice.
Sage : "Very well Kayama nice to meet you. I'm Sage if you wanted to know." Greeted Sage in her usual stoic tone before realizing something (Wait sweetie?) Sage though at the end.
Nemuri : "Well it's nice to meet you too. Sage right." Midnight said taking and shaking Sage's hand which unbeknownst to Nemuri broke the young girl out of her thoughts.
With their greeting in order the car started smoothly moving out of the park.
As the pair drove throughout the city Sage had to admit the city was beautiful for she never really been to anywhere other than the ancient islands where her father created her. As instead of destroyed ancient ruin of the past there were establishments from restaurants with attractive windows, noisy clubs with music blaring from them, and even a couple of beaches illuminated by the dim light of the moon. The beauty of Japan is was but the only thing missing was in Sage's mind of course.
Sage : "Smokestacks, military facilities, and a statue of a supreme leader that would lead the world into new age of technology." Sage said thinking of her father and what he could do to this world.
As she said this she ran a simulation in her system on how it would look. With the eggman empire logo on every building, multiple military facility spread across to crush any rebellion, and most importnatly her father at the enter of it all. To which she smiled and giggled at with satisfaction.
Nemuir : "What was that sweetie?" Asked Midnight breaking Sage out of her day dream.
Sage : "Ohh nothing." Responded Sage a hidden devilish smile.
Though her smile didn't last as she again realizing that the heroine called her sweetie again.
Sage : (why does she keep using that word on me?) She pondered looking at the heroine through the review mirror with curiosity.

Back with Sonic, he and Toshinori had just arrived at hero's apartment level in the complex. Entering inside the apartment there was a small living room with a flat screen TV which was directly connected to the kitchen. Besides the kitchen ran a hallway that led down to three rooms, one presumably a bathroom while the other two, one was either Toshinori's, and the other a guest room, where Sonic would most likely be sleeping.
Sonic : "Wow, nice place you got here, Tosh" Sonic complimented as he walked into and observed the home.
Toshinori : "Why thank you, ...wait did you just call me Tosh?" Said Toshinori pausing his walk into the kitchen, surprised by the sudden nickname from the hedgehog.
Sonic : "Oh-ah sorry just though it would be a good nickname." Apologized Sonic scratching his head. "I just like giving all my friends nicknames."
Toshinori : "Oh-no don't worry about it. I was just surprised." Reassured Toshinori. "Anyway now you just make yourself at home while I get started on dinner for us."
Sonic : "Ok! Thanks again Tosh" Sonic exclaimed before running down the hallway to his new room.
As Sonic entered his new room he looked around at the decently furnished room that had a average size bed, a small table to its and its own TV. Thought it wasn't much sonic appreciated that he still had his own bed.
Sonic then flopped on to his new bed getting comfortable before see the remote.
Sonic : "Well since I can't run, I might as well just see what's to watch in this world." Said Sonic using his speed to quickly grabbing the remote.
Turning the TV on Sonic was on the screen a familiar orange-brown haired reporter as she can be seen taking the stage for what appeared to be a newsroom. Thought he wasn't too fond of watching news channels Sonic reluctantly gave it a shot either way.
Scarlet :"Good evening everyone channel 5 news anchor Scarlet Garcia here and today were are covering the recent villain attack that previously had taken place inside the city of Musutafu." Scarlet said before being seen hand pamphlet of papers.
Scarlet : "In which a man entirely made of sludge reeked havoc on miltiple streets and had even taken a hostage at one point in the battle." Scarlet explained as mug shot of the villain in general appeared to her right on screen. A blob of sludge with only two crazed eyes sticking out to indicate his face.
Scarlet : "To make matters worse there was another boy with green hair that charged in, with his intentions still, being questioned as of right now. But ultimately, the villain was stopped and both teens were rescued." Stated Scarlet before taking a glace a few other reports before continuing. "But this time not by our local heros but by a new mutant quirk vigilante who just moments ago was being chanced by local Japanese authoritys."
The screen to Scarlet right now showed a multitude of screenshots of Sonic running thoughout the city, but almost nothing could be made out of them as all that was seen was a blue blurr.
Scarlet : "And if you viewers are wondering these were the best shot that we here in channel 5 muster, after the police had confiscated most of our videos and clearer photos. We're still trying to figure out why. But more on that later." Scarlet clarified while resorting more of her papers.
To which Sonic just smiled at.
Sonic : "Wow I guessing this is how the police are covering this up." He predicted before setting his sites back on the TV.
Scarlett : "But that wasn't the only odd phenomenon that occurred. As while the battle raged on the fire which was previously caused by the sludge villain was being put out but not local firefighters but by bee looking drones."
The TV soon showed a video taken by a helicopter showing a overview of the whole street that was shown revealing the crowd of civilians, the police's barrier and Sonic's fight with the villain, where Sonic is seen ducking and dodging while also retaliating with his own attacks. But most importantly to the left an ever growing fire that a local hero was trying to prevent was spreading.
But just the water hero appeared to be overwhelmed, all of a sudden bee looking robots metallic metal wings swooped in and began spraying water down from out of their stingers onto the fire. As fast as they came after putting out the fire they left quickly into red portals that had just appeared out of thin air.
By that point a mini tornado with blue electricity can be seen forming before discipline to reveal the splatter remains of the villain.
Scarlet : "We still don't know what, where, or who created these robots with police are still investigating the matter as we speak. But i'm afraid that's all we have time for today folks. I'm Scarlet Garcia, and This has been channel 5 news." Scarlet exclaimed before the channel soon began it's outro.
At that point Sonic was done watching and turned off the TV.
Sonic : "Man I have to say the treatment from law-enforcement in this world so much better than that of GUN. I think I might have to thank Tsukauchi for keeping me out of the public." Sonic complimented thinking back to all his runns with G.U.N the guardian unit of Nations.
Though he didn't get far since as if on time Sonic heard Toshinoris voice calling him out.
Toshinori : "Sonic! Dinners ready!" Toshinori called out from the kitchen.
Sonic : "Oh right on time I was getting hungry." said Sonic before speeding off towards the kitchen.

Midnight : "Okay and we are here. Said Midnight as she opened the door to her apartment whith Sage following suit.
Midnight : I know it's not much but, hey." Midnight said gaining sage's attention. "At least it beats the old orphanages that you and your brother used to stay in. Am I right?"
Sage : "Hmm oh ...why yes, I guess it does." Responded Sage now serving the apartment itself.
Walking into the apartment it was spacious enough and cozy, that had a modern Japanese design and with large windows that overlooked the now dark city.
Nemuri : "Make yourself comfortable sweetie ," Nemuri said, smiling slightly. "I'll just take your things and show you to your new room."
She extended her arm to take Sage's backpack before the young girl stepped to the side, a few inches away from heroines reach. Seeing Nemuir was taken aback a bit, but brushed it off as the girl being nervous.
Nemuir : "Oh ...I see, don't worry, I understand. What's yours is yours and what's mine is mine I get it. Am I right?" Nemuri asked for reassurance.
To which Sage gave a small nod to her.
Nemuri : "Very well then, I will respect your privacy. So just follow me, sweetie." She said becking Sage to follow her.
Sage applied and followed the raven haired heroine down a small corridor, before Nemuir opened a door to her right that lead into Sage's new room. Revealing a very furnished and colorful room with a large bed, a night atabd, shelves filled to the brim with books, and even big flat screen to which all was either purple or pink.
Nemuri : " Tada so, what do you think isn't it the best." remarked Nemuri cheerfully.
Sage walked inside fully surveying the entire room which had almost everything a child needed and more.
Sage : "Why yes it is." Sage responded with a shaky smile. "Uhm, Thank you".
Nemuri : "Well, you're welcome sweetie now, you just get yourself situated while I prepare dinner. Surely you must be pretty hungry, right?" Nemuri asked with a warm smile, crouching down to meet the girls gaze.
Sage again gave her another node.
Nemuri : "Well then, dinner will be ready in a minute" Nemuri exclaimed walking out of the room with skip her heels.
After she was gone Sage again began to look around the her room but just as she did it was then that she came to a strange realization about the room itself.
Sage : "For some reason I feel as if she prepared this even before she knew she was going to take me in." Sage said curiously expecting every peoce of furniture, thoroughly.
With the help of her high sense she was able to make out a few clumps of dust that hadn't yet been cleaned and even a few sign of aging ware from the furniture. Which helped confirmed her theory that the Midnight had already had this room prepared even before taking her in. Though She didn't know who the room was for and why Midnight kept it a scerect.
Sage : "If she had all this ready then who did she originally attendeed to have this room." Sage pondered with finger on chin. "But that will have to wait."
Saying this she then began to conjure up another portal into cyberspace, opening it as it lit up the whole room in a flash of black and red particles, before Sage took off the backpack holding the chaos emeralds and levitating the it through the portal. Believing that it was the best decision so that Midnight wouldn't find out and ask questions. With that done she closed the portal with the snap of herfingers, and room soon turned back to its natural pink atmosphere.
Nemuri : "Wait what was that." Questioned Nemuri looking away from her cooking.
Just as she did she ust barely avoided seeing the flash of red and black light being illuminated from the hallway from Sage's room. Shrugged it off she returned her focus on her cooking, if it could even be called that considering the fact that she was just heating up left overs from her previous afternoon for dinner. though she wasn't proud of it. It was better than nothing as she remember how pale she was after seeing that her fridge was mostly empty.
Nemuri : "Well dinner is served I guess." Nemuri stuttered, with a guilty, slightly crooked smile, after looking at her almost empty fridge. "I really hope she doesn't know, well we'll see. Sage sweetie dinners ready!" She sighed.
Nemuri said turning to the direction of Sage's room exspecting to hear the younge girl foot steps but hear nothing so she repeated herself if the girl hadn't heard her.
Nemuri : "Sage dinners..."
But before Nemuri could finish Sage suddenly had appeared right before her eyes into in flash of red and black particles. Nemuri jumping back in surprise at the girls sudden appearance.
Nemuri : "oh my gosh!" Nemuri screamed falling backwards on the ground.
Sage turned to face the heroine whi was on the floor asked :
Sage :"I heard that dinner was read, so what is there to eat?" Sage asked stoically unfazed by the heroine's surprise reaction.
Nemuri seeing her situation that she was in struggled to form me sentence.
Nemuri : "Uhm-i'm... uhm not sure how much of that you saw?" The heroine said to the girl looking down.
Sage : "Saw what?" Sage questioned with a head tilt, clueless by what the down heroine meant.
To that Nemuri sighed with relief.
Nemuri : "Oh good, she didn't see any of that." She said with relief but still was completely embarrassed with herself.
Sage : (Little does she know that I actually did see her recation) Sage said in her mind who unbeknownst to Nemuri actual did see the her tumble. (It was actually quiet hilarious) She said laughing in the back of her mind.
As for Nemuri she immediately recompose herself off of the ground and went to the counter for their dinner. Which comprised off some compound chicken, rice and pork. She gave the larger plate to Sage while she gave herself a smaller portion for two reasons, one being that she was barely hungry and two she believed that the girl needed after having not had a good meal her whole life.
Nemuri : (Don't worry, sweetie you go ahead and eat up as much as you want.) Nemuri said in her mind give Sage a warm motherly smile
Sage : (Why does she keep on staring at like that?) Sage questioned as she eat.
As Nemuri finished her dish she believed that now was the right time to finally start formulated some important rules so by getting Sage's attention she began to formally the rules with Sage intently,listening as she eat.
Nemuri : "So, listen carefully, Sage. There are going to be some rules in this house hold so bear with me. Rule number one: no quirk usage in the apartment. So, No teleporting and violation is a week without sweets."
Nemuri : "Rule number two: No strangers in the apartment without my permission. No friends, acquaintances, or random passersby. Though your brother is allowed as he is you're family ...and he kind of cute." Nemuir added biting her lips with lust in a whisper at the end.
Sage : (Does she not know that I'm still just a few feet away. Also why him?) Sage questioned in her mind confused heroines secrert interest.
Nemuri : "Rule number three: No loud games or parties after 10:00 p.m. The neighbors and especially me need to sleep too."
Nemuri : "And for an extra rule, no going into my room and checking out my closet." Nemuir stated her voice sternly compare to her sweet and gentle voice from before. "So you got that." She said returning to her natural tone.
Sage : "Yes, I understand Ms Kayama." Sage simply said.
Nemuri sighed, with expecting a reaction.
"Look I understand it's difficult but ...wait what? Nemuri paused mid sentence her face dumbfounded at what Sage said.
Sage : "What I said was that I agree with your rules and I will follow them as you have said." Sage said clarifying her answer to surprise heroine.
Nemuri : "Oh wow sorry I just didn't think..." She tried again but Sage agian intervened.
Sage : "Think what, that I wouldn't agree to them. I'm not a child so to speak, I know how the law works so I understand your reasoning, for these types of rules Ms Nemuri." Sage explained to the still surprised Nemuri.
Nemuri eyes widden as she never expected someone to have such discipline at a young age, as even she had to admit she had more discipline than herself. But with this Nemuri sighed with relief.
Nemuri : "Well, then, I'm glad we have an understanding, sweetie."
Nemuir seeing that shr didn't need to argue with the younge girl smiled warmly as she too eat with the girl.
After all the rules were discussed, established and seemingly fixed in the minds of both of them, Nemuri, deciding not to put things off, said with a smile.
Nemuri : "Okay young lady I think it's time for bed."

After dinner, Sonic immediately jump into his bed and began to cover himself in the sheets preparing for a well deserved sleep. As he slowly but surely began peacefully for once drifting to sleep to rest for tomorrow's adventure. He soon was woken up by a familiar female voice from within his mind immediately waking him up with a groan.
Sage : ("Can you hear me.")Sage said from within Sonic's head.
Sonic : ("Yes." Responded Sonic with groan. "What is now, this hedgehog who mind you, fought a God like entity and was blown up from the sky, needs his rest.")
Sage : ("Oh... I'm sorry if I was disturbing you from your beauty sleep hedgehog.")Mocked Sage with false empathy within Sonic mind. ("But I just needed to test out if this mental connection of ours was long range.")
Sonic : ("Aaand what do you know ...it is. Are we done now.") Sonic question with annoyance wanting to end there conversation quickly.
Sage : ("No, we're not.") Sage answered which earned a tried groan from the hedgehog. ("I just wanted to ask if anything weird is going on with you and your caretaker Toshinori.")
This earned her confused look from Sonic who responded confused by what she meant.
Sonic : ("What do mean by weird everything seems pretty normal with me and him. He's actually a pretty chill dude not gonnalie in all, but nothing seems out of the ordinary.") He stated with genuine gratitude towards the number one hero. ("Why do ask any way?")
Sage : ("Well for starters mine calls me, sweetie even though she knows my real name. Secondly he treats me as a child, even though I'm clearly supposed to be a teenage...")
But as she was about to continue Sonic unknowingly interrupted her by joking saying :
Sonic : ("Did you look at yourself in the mirror.")
Sage : ("I did if you were wondering") Sage deadpanned unimpressed by the bad joke about her child like body.
At this Sonic cursed himself.
Sonic :("Dang it how did she know?") Sonic winced at the though of Sage hearing his worlds.
Sage : ("Our minds are connected now idiot") Sage explained unimpressed by the Sonic's lack of think.
Sonic : ("oh yeah, you can read my thoughts and I can read your thoughts.") Sonic said scratching the back of his head, mentally slapping himself for forgetting such detail.
Sonic : ("Okay but hey, come on. It can't be that bad. It's not like she prepared an all pink room for you.") Sonic said laughing at the idea.
Apon saying this Sonic didn't hear any form of response on Sage side of their connections not even a disappointed, sigh.
Sonic : ("OK, I will take that silent as a yes that she did.") Sonic said slowly trying not to provoke Sage in another argument.
Wanting to move the conversation away from her embarrassment Sage began to talk brough up a different and likely more important topic for her and Sonic to discuss.
Sage : ("Oh and about Tsukauchi.") Sage began.
Sonic : ("Yeah, what about him?") Sonic asked now more interested at the mention of the Detectives name.
Though Sage had said to Tsukauchi that it would be a private matter Sage knew that Sonic had to now what had happened as to prevent the blue blurr from blindly putting his trust in the detective as much as it pained her to help him.
Sage : ("It appears that he still suspicious of us I'll just leave it at that.") She said with a tried sigh of her own.
Sonic : ("Wait what do you mean by leave it at that.") Sonic question futher this time with some unrest at the though of the detective not trust them.
Sage on her part sighed getting up a bit from her bed crossing her arms in thought at the situation they were in.
Sage : ("It's complicated. Sage simple said. "Let's just say we had a bit of a tense conversation in the car after you left.") Sage explained while remebering everything she had said with Tsukauchi.
Hearing this Sonic frowned as he lower his head.
Sonic : ("Ah man, and I really thought we were gonna be good friends.") Sonic said with disappointed in his words, that even in another world law enforcement was still never fully trusted him. ("Wait if he didn't trust you then how did you get him to back off from his questioning?")
Sage : ("Oh, I simply asked nicely to stop.") She said with too innocent tone for Sonic liking which he raised an eye brow up at.
Sonic : ("Okay there's no use in trying to fool me did you threaten his family or guilt trick him? Be real with me Sage.") Asked Sonic with an unimpressed look and crossed arms his disappointment completely replaced by annoyance by Sage's vage answer.
He began to stare at the ceiling waiting for an answer from the girl.
Sage knew this and responded honestly for the first time since arriving at this world.
Sage : ("It's was the second option. Also I don't think he has family I checked on the filies that I collected." ") She explained with much praise of her crime that she committed with no regret.
Sonic : ("Jeez looks you inherited some of your fathers trickster genes or is it code for you.") Sonic grunted already knowing he was right.
For Sage she just chucked to his annoyance.
Sage : "And I thank you for the compliment." she said with knowing smile.
To which Sonic just rolled his eyes.
But as he there was then that a awkward silence had now taken place between the two's telepathic conversation. The latters not knowing what else they wanted to say to each other after discussing about their caretakers. Both were staring at the ceiling Sonic taping his hand with his index finger while Sage just layed flat on her bed. But at last the drawn out silence, was broken by Sonic.
Sonic : ("Okay... I know far too well now to know that you didn't just want to talk to me for something so small and maybe to you insignificant , so" Sonic paused for a second before continuing. "You must have another reason so, whats wrong Sage?") Sonic asked worried that she was hiding something from him from the start of their conversation.
Again he awaited for her answer he waited, waited, waited and waited to hear her stoic robotic voice. But he heard no reply which didn't irritating him for once but actually increased his anxiety over the girl well being.
Sage on her part remained silent at his question she was biting her lips pondering and tapping her fingers on whether to tell him why. For she didn't want showing him that she was vulnerable, but in reality she knew it too and couldn't keep it up forever. So with a deep breath he began to speak.
Which was good timing since Sonic was about to drift asleep until he was startled from Sage's voice from within his his head smiling from the sound of her voice.
Though this time with more emotion than her usual stoic tone.
Sage : ("I'm... just worried about father. L-like how he's doing on mobius with me. Ssss-o there is that what YOU wanted to hear!") she shouted at him with spite glitching out.
As her disguise fell to show her blue tranquil digitsl form. She stood up from her bed,and turned in the opposite direction were Sonic would be facing if he was right there in the room with her. She waited anxiously for a few seconds before hearing his voice again.
Meanwhile with Soinc he was genuinely surprised at what she had told him that it wasn't much he was still surprised so surprised in fact the he slowly got up a bit from his bed to process what Sage had told him. From there he gave a warm smile to the younge girl and being as calm and collective as he could replied back.
Sonic : ("Wow") he simply still in surprise.
Sage : ("Wow, ..what do mean that?") She asked confused by his one word response.
Sonic : ("I'm mean wow you just told me all that. Haha") Sonic said with a chuckled.
Sage then return to a normal red digital state, with boiling anger and annoyance. She immediately began regretting what she said seeing that Sonic wouldn't take her seriously.
Sage : ("So what, ...you're gonna make fun of me now, ...make a joke or two. Try me rodent I can take a lot more than you think, I am your superior .") she growled hitting her curled up fists on her bed, with red pixels, admitting from them.
As she did this her body too began shifting from her red state to tranquil state and even pink state. See hiw she took his response, Sonic knew she must have been taking it the wrong so was quick to reassure her that he didn't mean anything bad.
Sonic : ("No, you know that's not what I meant. Sure, I crack bad jokes here and there but I'm serious this time. As I can see this is something very serious for you and I wanna take you seriously too.") Explained Sonic calmly leaning back into his bed taking a deep breath before continuing. ("I'm sure you're egghea- I mean you dad is doing just fine as a matter fact, I believe he's trying to find out to bring you back.")
Sage : ("huh why would you think that?") Sage asked her disguise now finally settling to normal.
Sonic : ("come on you and me know him more than anyone he can be crazy sometimes sure, but your dad is also relentless and persistent, in what he wants to accomplish. He'll do whatever it takes especially for you his daughter.") Sonic explained to her.
Sage : ("Snifff... You believe that.") Asked Sage through teary eyes.
Sonic : ("Yes you're his only daughter and remember that.") Sonic finished before he soon began to yawn again, ("Now then it's getting late. I think it's best that we both get some shut eye, especially me of course, but still you get the point").
He said as he layered back down on his bed.
Sage : ("Yeah I believe so too and oh Sonic sniff...thank you. For listening to me.") Said Sage with watery holographic tears in her eyes.
Sonic hearing this gave a knowing smile as they both began to separate from their connection. Sonic and Sage soon began to claw back fully into their beds, pulling the covers over themselves before falling back into a peaceful sleep. That was until Sage with closed irises, began extending her right hand to open another portal.
Meanwhile with Sonic he was feeling rather proud of himself as he was just able to have another heart to heart moment with Sage.
Sonic : "You did good today sonic you did good." He said complementing himself.
But soon as he too was about to close his eye he saw above his head that a red portal had open up above him. Leaving him confused as he knew where it came from but just didn't know why Sage had opened it for.
Sonic : "What the gah wah gah!" shrieked Sonic now in pain.
As at that moment a phone like device had fallen through and straight on the hedgehog's forehead . Sonic groaning in pain at the impact it felt on his forehead leaving a nasty bruise. Thankfully the noise wasn't enough to wake Toshinori. Who's it's nice could be heard from the other side of the room by Sonic. Soon after getting his bearings together Sonic finally noticed that there was a note taped on the back It reading.
'Incase you want to explore the city' It read with small drawing of the eggman empire logo on it.
Sonic : ("Sage!!!") Sonic screamed in his mind, crumbling the note in his hand.
As for Sage she was enjoying the hedgehogs discomfort as it the one thing she needed for her to go to fully dift to sleep.
Sage : "Ah music to my holographic ears" She sleeply said as she continued to hear sonic's banter as she snuggled up into her bed and fully closed her eyes.
Sonic : ("Sage! I know you can hear me! What was that for?! You could've warned me! Sage! Sage !") Sonic continuously yelled from within their telepathic connection.
Sonic : ("I know you're ignoring me! OK, that's fine. That's the last time I ever help you. ...ahh forget it. You're probably not gonna respond.")
Realizing that she wasn't going to respond, Sonic gave up and decided to leave her alone for he wanted to get some sleep.
Sonic : ("Fine...good night ...sis.") said Sonic before finally laying back and closing his eyes too.
Just as Sonic and Sage had fall a sleep a red glowing eye can be seen breaking the pitch black night sky, revealing that something had been watching their conversation. As just outside of sonic and Sage's rooms a white vertical egg shapedlike drone can be seeing hovering in the air positioning themselves near their own rooms window.
Drones : "Record Complete, returning to base." They said lifelessly before flying off by the use of their two vertical thruster's on their backs. Leaving only a light red trail in th air before disappearing altogether.
Meanwhile some where far away a tall younge man in all black suit can be seen watching through the drones POV on a blue hollow projected screen as they return. He took a look at his wrist for a smaller projection to pop up and show that the drones had arrived at his location. It was then that he soon began tapping away on a circular touchscreen table that housed said holosceen that was centered in the room. He can now be seen rewinding one of the drones recodings, more specifically the one that was spying on Sage. And during his rewinding he noticed that in a few short frames, Sage had actually made contact with the drone face-to-face. Which served as the nail in the coffin for his hypothesis on the girl along with the recording on their conversation.
??? : "He's back, he's back" shouted the mysterious man in the room revealing to have racks of mounted drones and holographic screens that showed the eggman empire logo. "Kind of...?"

School! Thats No Good
OKAY!!!! AT LAST IT IS DONE!!!
(Now for formal explanation for why this chapter took so long to complete with one word school.)
But anyway I will later talk more on why it takes me to up load chapters after I finish the other two chapters 9 and 10 that are now in development so peace.
