Chapter 7: Wild Wasteland or Riverlands?
Well, that was quite a lovely day so far! I have completed my bounty mission followed by numerous quests, it was well done. All I need is to backtrack where I came from and head back to the town to grab my final reward for the bounty. Maybe I'll grab a few more bounties to gather necessary experience on how to deal with them in Riverlands while saving money up for capital investment for my future plans of minor uplifts to make a stable income to afford whatever I need in the store.
I know that I have some time to work on myself since the canon really doesn't start until 2 BC at earliest when my half siblings start their conquest of Westeros and I wonder if they know about me or have largely forgotten about me. No matter, I'll remain in the shadows, rooting for them while keeping dragons alive as much as possible. Based on what the System is telling me about the deal with Fourteen Flames that they wish me to save dragons from any necessary means, does it mean that I will have to keep them alive even to Dance and beyond? That would be difficult to do considering this world's average lifespan is roughly late forty to mid sixties unless there is some kind of stable FEV in the store that would give me this extended lifespan…
You know what, I'll check the store now. Ah, found it. Well, a stable strain of FEV that only changes my insides while outside is unchanged, so basically giving me a human version of Super Mutant without craziness involved. Oh damn, it looks like it has two drawbacks, such as lower fertility rate, meaning that I'd have a harder time fathering children, kinda like elves in numerous fantasy stories. Another drawback is that I'd have to eat more than normal to account for higher metabolism required to maintain a superhuman body. Means that I'd need to set a higher budget for larger amounts of food to eat.
But, yowch, the asking price for stable FEV. That's easily within buying an entire castle or two, damn! Twenty point one million bottle caps or in this area's currency, 100,000 gold dragons. Quite a sizable sum, indeed! If I remember correctly, 100,000 gold dragons is roughly the entire income for a year for high-ranking nobles like House Stark or House Tully. I might be wrong considering that the currency information about ASOIAF setting is very muddled up and is inconsistent as heck.
I can see that FEV will have to be my 'top end game' plan when I have enough money to afford that FEV to augment myself so I'd live for centuries to keep watch over the dragons from dying out. I wonder if Valyrians in olde times had life extending magicks? Since there isn't much information about Valyrians in general, thanks to GRRM's shitty world building skills.
Browsing through the shop section again, there are multiple Valyrian tomes and books on different topics at varying price ranges as it appears that cheapest ones are mostly in history, culture and cultural norms/traditions being at two hundred bottle caps each. Not too shabby, it would be useful to learn about my ancestors later.
Ooh, I'm getting distracted, I need to get ready to leave for the town, like right now as I don't want to waste the day by staring at the shop all day, heh. I looked up then patted on my pants then stood up. Time to haul my ass to the town if I want to make it before the night time since I'm more familiar with the terrain, thanks to my Survival skills. I started to walk the same path where I came from, keeping my eyes peeled at the surroundings.
Oh boy, time really goes fast as I look up, I can see the sun is already at the afternoon stage where the sun is hovering a little bit beyond the horizon as I checked my pipboy, telling me that it's around four in the afternoon. Hmm, I have walked a considerable distance, I'm not too far away from the town. Right, let's finish it until..
The ground suddenly erupted, showering me in dirt as the grotesque looking things came out, snarling at me. All I can see is their pinkish flesh with giant yellow stained beaver-like teeth with their evil looking black beady eyes as I stared at them incredulously.
What the fuck?! Those are goddamn mole rats, how the hell did they get here in the ASOIAF?! I was absolutely sure that there would be no conjunction of sphere bullshit from the Witcher series that would bring stuff from different universes or realms unless there's some kind of consequence of having me with my Fallout system being here at ASOIAF world? I'll need to check my pipboy to see if there's a system message or whatever after I deal with these ugly-ass rats.
I immediately took my pistol out as the first two mole rats started to screech at me, charging with intent of disemboweling me with their ugly looking beaver-like teeth. Sure as I ain't going to let them, no siree! I aimed at the first two mole rats, pushed the trigger, sending the pistol to kick up like a mule as two hot lead bullets roared out of the barrel, hitting the first two mole rats in the head, putting them down hard as they crashed down on the dirt, making sizeable tench considering that mole rats are big as dogs or bigger. Also heavy as hell too, based on what I see from their corpses hitting the ground so hard.
Another two more are already digging down in the dirt as I stepped back to take my sword out in case those damn ugly rats decide to go up from the ground at my feet or something so I can stab those ugly sons of bitches with my sword. Aha there! A mole rat suddenly erupts from the ground, baring the teeth at my leg as I swung my sword, cutting the head off, rolling to the other direction while the body started to spasm in death rattles. I heard another rumble again from my back, I turned around quickly as the ground erupted again, opening its smelly mouth to bite hard on my ass. Not on my watch, you damn rat! I swung my sword again, stopping him as he tried to bite through my sword as I aimed my pistol again, aiming for his center between the eyes and pressed the trigger.
Boom. Last mole rat shrieked in pain as the bullet burrowed inside of the brain, causing the body to collapse in death rattles. I panted slightly at the sudden occurrence, not expecting to see this shitshow to happen, ever. Oh? I hear melee weapons and guns skills leveling up by once. Nice, about time.
I sighed wearily as I sat down on the rock, staring at the corpses. I'm now legitimately worried if there will be other effects like more wildlife from Fallout world or god forbid, raiders and fiends, Westeros has no way of fighting against drug-ridden crazies with guns or worse. I'll need to check the pipboy ASAP if there are any messages about that tidbit.
I turned my pipboy, checking everything carefully until I noticed there was one notification from the message section, I clicked on the notification, loading the message.
Greetings, fellow Survivor!
I hope that you haven't died like a chump at hands of, well, anyone or something because I have one more thing to tell you as I "accidentally" forgot to tell you in the first message.
I groaned at this message, bloody hell. I swear, someone designed the system with sadistic tendencies to torment me for fun.
Listen closely, there are unintended consequences of 'inserting' you to the ASOIAF world with your Fallout-stylized System despite making the deal with Fourteen Flames.
Marvelous, you should have told me in the first message… I scowled at the message.
It turns out that other gods like R'hllor, Drowned God, Storm God, Black Goat and a few other eldritch horrors that I never bothered to learn their names were displeased by my acts to 'disrupt' their world. Such arrogance, thinking that world is theirs, eh?
Although, to keep those pesky gods from intervening in your life directly, I had to make a deal with Fourteen Flames where they asked me to let you know that they want you to save the dragons.
However, it did not stop them from intervening through subtle means as they decided that they'd use the loophole in the celestial law where there must be balance compared to your insert with game-system, so they decided to 'open' the barriers between this world to your world by randomly picking any thing from Fallout world to 'insert' at the ASOIAF world.
Thankfully, there are limitations on the loophole as they only can 'insert' a limited amount of creatures or anyone from the Fallout world. You must be sighing in relief that you don't have to face so many enemies at once? You won't be resting easily because the 'inserts' will happen randomly in time and location, it can be anytime to a few months apart, depending on the rarity of 'inserted' beings.
Oh fuck, it sounds like Conjuection of Sphere from Witcher series as an form of consequence of having me with video game like system at the world? Not surprising considering that stuff would attract a lot of attention from local gods for sure. At least I know that Westeros is nowhere ready to deal with these new changes. Although dealing with potential Enclave or Brotherhood or Super Mutants or even robots are going to be troublesome to deal with, goddamn it! I hope that some of them are friendly, it would be nice to have some allies, as I think I can persuade anyone as long as they're reasonable to the Brotherhood of Steel member to join me but Enclave or Super Mutants? Hell no, they get a bullet or beam from me. Oh god, I hope I don't face Deathclaws soon, they're super scary to deal with.
Plus, local gods will try to send some foes after you to keep you from 'disrupting' their rosy view of the world, so be prepared for any foe in case, Survivor.
Wonderful, so I'll have some enemies coming after me from their local gods. Thanks a lot, System. Ugh.
However, they won't be frequent because they're still limited by celestial laws, so they only can send a small amount of foes after you, so don't worry too much about it. Sucks to be you for facing Fallout creatures, although, they're no fun to fight against!
Yeah right, because you forced this on me… wonderful.
You must be wondering about what about Olds Gods, Mother Rhoyne and Seven Pointed Star? It turns out that they don't care about this too much, they just want to enjoy the show provided by you and I. In fact, I just had a nice chat with Old Gods druid-like beings that they'd like to ask a favor from you to keep their First Men culture, knowledge and weirwoods preserved and they'll reward you for this, like the ability to warg or knowledge about First Men magic or something depending on Old Gods decision. You can speak with Green Men at Isle of the Gods at any time at your choice for more information.
Hmmm, that sounds reasonable to me as I liked Old Gods, they seem to be nice and placid based on what I know about them so far. I wondered if it is possible to become the follower of Fourteen Flames and Old Gods? Much to think about in future, aye.
That's all you need to know. You won't get this message for a long time or never unless there's any new emergency that requires me to intervene personally.
Have a good life, Survivor!
Just like that, the message ends. What a chump but nice enough to warn me about new issues that I'll have to deal with someday in future. Ugh. At least some enemies should drop nice stuff like robots carrying electronic components that would be useful to my crafting if I want to get to that stuff. Although I know that it won't be the same Westeros again after random 'pop-ups' of Fallout creatures and beings at any time.
I already feel bad for the villagers. They will face the creatures from Fallout if they stumble to it in the first place as the message tells me that creatures will be totally randomized so it could be anywhere and anytime. Heck, there is a possible chance of a super mutant or deathclaw popping up in the middle of court or in the middle of town even though the chances of it happening is astronomically low.
Wait a second, could it mean that creatures would drop some stuff? I looked around to look closely at the mole rats, wondering if there's random stuff in their body as I'm sure that there is no looting system in the system to take advantage of. Although I know that mole rats only drop their teeth, hide and sometimes bottle caps that's more likely to be in their stomach. Gross.
At least some things from Fallout when they 'appear' will drop nice stuff like Enclave or Brotherhood, their power armor and energy weapons are too good to pass, heh! Of course, that is assuming they will show up in future.
No matter, I'll deal with it when I have the chance to, as I need to go back to the town as soon as possible.
I know one thing is that it will never be the same ever again. The world is going to change in a big time. Hell, I ain't even ready for that. No one is, ever.
