Saber: "There is a servant in these woods."
Naru stopped in his tracks. A servant? Here?
Naru: "You're joking…right?"
Saber: "I am not. An assassin-class servant is hiding amongst the trees."
Naru was more on guard than before. If there was one thing Naru knew about assassins, it was that they always struck when you least expected them. Naru backed up against a tree with his knife out. Making sure no one would attack him from behind. Naru looked around wondering where this assassin might be.
That's when he heard it: breathing. Breaths were coming from the other side of the tree. These were not normal breaths. These were heavy, animalistic breaths, like a predator stalking its prey, excited by the idea of a slaughter. These were the breaths of a monster.
Naru couldn't move. His hands were shaking and he had trouble controlling his breathing. He could barely even call out to Saber to help him.
Naru: "S-s-s-s-saber….h-h-h-h-help!"
Saber: "Hm? What's wro- NARU! GET DOWN!"
Naru immediately ducked right before a massive fur-covered arm nearly took off his head! He immediately ran behind Saber and looked for what had just attacked him, only to see a pair of glowing red eyes staring at them from the darkness.
Assassin: "Hmph, I guess I got too excited there. It gave away my position."
The large figure stepped out of the shadows with heavy footsteps that shook the earth. They were over 213cm (7ft) tall with long, dark brown fur covering their entire body like a cloak. Long, sharp claws protruded from their fingers and they had a snarling ape-like face with a mouth filled with sharp teeth.
Assassin: "I guess I'm not as suited for this class as I thought."
Saber: "So you finally reveal yourself, Assassin. If I'm to be honest, if it weren't for your presence concealment, I would've mistaken you for a berserker."
Assassin: "I thought you might say as much."
Saber: "Either way, I must ask that you leave these woods Assassin. This is my master's territory, and you as trespassing!"
Assassin: "Funny, I was about to say the same thing to you. Unfortunately, due to rather…..unfortunate circumstances, I can't leave these woods. So if anyone should be retreating, it's you"
Saber: "If that is your answer, then you shall perish in these woods."
Saber raised her sword and positioned herself into a fighting stance.
Assassin: "Fine."
Assassin cracked his neck and also got into a fighting stance.
Assassin: "All this talking was making me bored."
Before Naru could even blink, Assassin and Saber had already started combat, with Saber's sword and Assassin's claws clashing with enough force to create a shockwave that knocked Naru off balance. The two servants pushed against each other, desperate to gain the upper hand.
Saber: "Naru! Run! Go back to the house!"
Saber didn't need to ask twice, as Naru got on his feet and ran towards the direction of the house.
Assassin: "You're wide open!"
Assassin swiped at Saber with his other arm. Saber deflected it with her sword and tried to counter-attack, but Assassin leaned back and delivered a strong kick to Saber's abdomen, sending her flying backward. Saber immediately recovered from the blow and charged back at Assassin. The two exchanged a flurry of blows, trying to gain the upper hand over the other. Eventually, both Saber and Assassin jumped back to recover.
Assassin: "Hmph. I guess fighting with an invisible sword directly is a bad idea."
Assassin's hands were covered in cuts from the multiple clashes he had with Saber, who herself had five slashes on her left arm when Assassin got in a lucky strike.
Assassin: "I guess I'll have to resort to more…efficient tactics."
Assassin grinned and ran in Naru's direction. Saber, not wasting any time ran after him. She knew what he was trying to do, and she would not allow it!
Saber: "I won't let you lay a finger on my master Assassin!"
Assassin then smirked and jumped over Saber and landed right behind her.
Saber: "Wha-?"
Assassin: "Gotcha!"
He then delivered a powerful slash to her back, causing blood to spray out and knocking her to the ground.
Assassin: "I knew you'd drop your guard when your master was in peril, so I used it to my advantage to land a decisive blow!"
Saber: "Ugh! Damn you Assassin! Have you no shame?"
Assassin picked up Saber by the leg and held her upside down.
Assassin: "Not even a little!"
He proceeded to swing Saber around like a rag doll, slamming her into the ground multiple times before tossing her into a nearby tree, but Saber repositioned herself midair and using the tree as a platform, jumped off of it and impaled Assassin through the shoulder. He punched her in the gut and wrenched the sword out of his arm before jumping away.
Saber: "It's over Assassin. You are injured. You may surpass me in both strength and speed, but your defense is lacking. Now prepare to face your end!"
Assassin: "Noble phantasm…"
Saber gasped. It had been a long time since her last Holy Grail War and she completely forgot about noble phantasms! She braced herself as Assassin's eyes started to glow.
Assassin: "Urban Legend!"
A huge flash of light came from lit up the entire forest, making Naru stop in his tracks. He was facing away from where the flash came from, but he could tell how bright it was due to the entire forest turning white for a split second.
Naru: "What…was that?"
Naru turned around and ran back towards the center of the forest. When he finally arrived, he saw Saber standing in the middle of the forest, standing completely still. Assassin was nowhere to be seen. Naru figured he must have escaped after using whatever that light was as a distraction.
Naru: "Hey Saber!"
No response.
Naru: "Are you okay?"
Still no response
Naru: "What happened?"
After worrying that Saber might have been braindead, she finally turned to face him. However, her face looked expressionless and her eyes looked dead.
Saber: "Nothing happened."
She walked passed him back to the house, leaving a confused Naru in the middle of the forest.
Naru: "What going on?"
