Second Floor

Brook: "Are we there yet?"

Yui: "No."

Brook: "Are we there yet?"

Yui: "No."

Brook: "Are we there yet?"

Yui: "NO!"

Yui, Zero, and Brook walked through the hallways of the second floor. They searched various classrooms, checked lockers, and generally did a lot of snooping around.

Brook: "Are we there yet?"

However, Brook was getting impatient, and Yui was getting fed up with her.

Yui: "For the last time, we need to check the entire floor for evidence of dead apostles."

Brook: "Evidence? On the second floor? Really?"

Yui: "What do you mean 'really?'"

Brook: "Why would a vampire hang out on the second floor?"

Yui: "So they could patrol the place for intruders?"

Brook: "Intruders? Bullshit! Nobody would want to be on the second floor. It's like the worst floor for a vampire to be on. You can't escape underground because you're one floor above the Earth, you can't turn into a bat and fly away because you're one floor below the ceiling, and while they can jump out of the window into the parking lot, how many vampires do you know of who can drive a car? Do you think a blood-sucking monster who has lived for thousands of years will just suddenly adapt to modern technology on a whim? Like, would they just take a driver's test, walk into the DMV, and get a license just like that? Do they even know what the DMV is? My point is, nobody likes the middle floor. It tries to be a jack of all trades by being both the top and first floor, but ends up falling behind both and ends up being the worst floor in the entire-"

Brook stopped her rant upon noticing that Yui and Zero were no longer with her.

Brook: "Umm….guys? Where did you go? Dammit! I was so distracted by my own voice that I overlooked that I had been separated from my group!"

Brook sighed as she turned around and retraced her steps, approaching an opening leading to another hallway.

Brook: "Hmm? Maybe they went this way?"

She shrugged as she went through the opening, not noticing a pair of eyes staring at her from the shadows…

Third Floor

Asuka: "Nope. Nothing here either."

Asuka and her trusty police dog passed by another classroom. Asuka had been trying her best to search for the dead apostle on the third floor. She looked through classrooms, lockers, labs, offices, and even the multiple air vents in an attempt to find anything related to dead apostles. So far, she had found nothing. Even with Cosmos's keen sense of smell, she couldn't seem to find any clues.

Asuka: "Hunting for dead apostles sure isn't easy."

?: "Of course it isn't."

Asuka pulled out her sidearm and pointed to where the voice came from while Cosmos started to growl.

Asuka: "Police! Come out with your hands up-"

The gun was suddenly knocked out of her hand by a red stream of liquid.

?: "Humans are meant to be hunted by dead apostles. It would be foolish of prey to seek out their predator."

The one who launched the attack stepped out of the shadows. The person(?) who stepped out had reddish, armor-like skin with spikes on his shoulders. Instead of hair, they had porcupine-like quills covering their head. They were completely shirtless, the only thing they wore were black shorts, which showed off their leg muscles.

?: "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Gama Phrynosoma, 'The Tears.' I have been charged by Chirocul Desmodus himself to defend this floor, and to kill any intruders that make it up to this floor. Surrender, and I promise a quick and painless death."

Asuka: "That is quite the tempting offer. However…"

Asuka unsheathed her katana and got into a fighting stance.

Asuka: "...you underestimate the human will to live if you think anyone would ever surrender just like that."

Gama: "Ha..haha….hahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Asuka: "What's so funny?"

Gama: "It's nothing, it's just that…I find human resistance so…heartwarming and beautiful."

The dead apostle blinked a couple of times before tears of blood started to stream down from his eyes.

Gama: "It brings me tears of joy!"

The vampire's eyes rolled back into his head, revealing two small holes with blood dripping from them.

Asuka: "Stand by, Cosmos! Get ready for anything!"

Cosmos: "Bark!"

The blood flowing from Gama's eyes began to heat up. It started to melt through the ground as small droplets fell from his chin. Heat and pressure began to increase in both eyeballs as they looked like they were going to burst. Eventually, this pressure reached its limit and thus…

Gama: "Tearjerker!"

Two jets of blood burst from his eyes toward Asuka, who barely managed to dodge in time. She then rushed forward, avoiding the various blood beams that threatened to cut her in half. When she finally got close, she swung her sword to cut him, but it got stuck on Gama's shoulder pad.

Gama: "Ha! Foolish girl! My armor can shrug off holy weapons with ease! There's no way that puny sword of yours can-"

SHLICK!

Gama: "Wha-"

The blade cut right through his shoulder and across his chest, leaving a gigantic scar across his torso. Gama, who never had his armor pierced before, stepped back in shock.

Gama: "Impossible! There's no way a mere sword can pierce my hide!"

Asuka: "Why not? Is the idea of a 'mere sword' penetrating your armor that outrageous?"

The sword-wielding police officer casually rested the sword on her shoulder and looked at the now confused vampire with a confident smirk on her face.

Asuka: "I am Asuka Urasawa, 'The Blade.' As a member of the Sekoyoma Police Department, it is my mission to maintain peace in this otherwise hellish city, and anyone who disturbs the peace…will suffer the pain of 1000 deaths by my sword!"

Second Floor

Brook continued to walk through the various corridors of the second floor. She had completely lost track of where she was and was now just wandering around aimlessly.

Brook: "This is certainly an ordeal. Seriously, this is only the second floor? How big is this school? You know what, walking around is dumb. I should just call 4 help! Ha! See what I did there?"

Brook chuckled at her extremely terrible joke. She then started to call out for the other members of the Infinite Path.

Brook: "Vegeta? Mandarine? Ayasumi? Killer Queen? Henchman #1?"

However, instead of calling their names like a normal person, she decided to use dumb (but accurate) nicknames she came up with on the spot.

Brook: "Well, I tried, and that's what's important! I guess I'll just wait here until somebody picks me up. If only somebody had given me a map or something so I could find my way back instead of sitting here talking to myself."

At least, Brook thought she was talking to herself. In reality, she was being watched by a pair of hungry eyes. Brook didn't even notice until something wet and sticky fell on her shoulder.

Brook: "Ew, what the hell is this stuff?"

She wiped the strange sludge off her jacket and examined it. It was transparent like water yet slightly more viscios. She examined it, smelled it, tasted it (yuck), and played with it several times until she came up with a conclusion.

Brook: "After careful experimentation, I can confirm that this substance…is drool, and the fact that it fell on my shoulder means that it came…from…above….."

Brook slowly looked up and was now face to face with some sort of creature, smiling at her with a toothy grin.

?: "Howdy neighbor!"

Brook: "EEEK!"

Brook freaked out and slid to the other side of the hallway. She started to breathe fast as she stared at the creature that was sticking to the ceiling.

Brook: "Oh my god! It's a vampire! An actual vampire!"

?: "My, don't you look juicy!"

The dead apostle unstuck itself from the ceiling and walked towards Brook. Once it got close, she got a good look at her assailant. The first thing Brook noticed was that his skin was green and covered in scales like a reptile. He was also tall and well-built, wearing a black vest that showed off his muscular arms. Then, there was his head. Instead of hair, this…thing had long, tentacle-like dreads that Brook swore looked similar to those of a certain alien sports hunter. Finally, there were his eyes, which were purple and had square-shaped pupils.

Brook could only stare at the inhuman creature in front of her until it decided to speak up.

?: "Say, are you lost?"

Brook: "M-maybe."

?: "Oh, that's bad. You don't want to get lost in a dead apostle's domain. I mean, somebody just might show up and eat you! Hahahahaha!"

Brook: "Hehe…hehe.."

All she could do was laugh along. She had no plan of escape and could only wait until an opportunity of escape presented itself.

?: "Hmm? What's wrong? Oh, I get it! I forgot to tell you my name! How silly of me! Let's start over from the beginning. My name is Gorgos Chlamydos, or as everyone calls me, 'The Dread.' Do you know why I'm called that?"

Brook: "N-no. W-why are you called that?"

Gorgos: "Because of my cool-looking dreads. What? Did you think I was called that because I put fear and dread into my victims?"

Brook: "W-well…a little bit."

Gorgos: "Well…you're completely right! So here's the deal. I'm going to close my eyes and count to ten. While I'm doing that, I want you to run away as far as possible, you know, to make the chase more interesting. Are you ready?"

Brook: "I.."

Gorgos: "Too late! Let's begin! One…two…"

Brook: "Six."

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Brook pulled out her gun and shot six bullets into his head. Suffering brain damage after being shot through the head multiple times, Gorgos collapsed to the ground, his body twitching as he did so.

Being a cryptozoologist and a fan of monster movies, Brook understood that her gun probably wasn't enough to kill a vampire, so she ran away as fast as she could, hoping to get some distance between them and look for a place to hide.

This was a smart move, as Gorgos was slowly beginning to regenerate from his wounds. Once he was fully recovered, he got up and snarled in the direction that Brook ran to, snarling as he did so.

Gorgos: "You really should have let me finish counting…' CAUSE NOW I'M PISSED!"

He ran in Brook's direction. He was determined to kill her now, and he wouldn't stop until he captured his prey.

First Floor

He didn't want to be here. Neither of them did. Visiting this place might have felt nostalgic at one point, but now, it brought nothing but bitter memories. Any other thoughts they may have had about this place were overshadowed by the death and despair they felt at this very moment.

Naru: "Depressing…isn't it?"

Rei: "You have no idea."

They stayed quiet as they walked through the dimly lit hallways, not saying a word. Finally. Naru decided to speak up.

Naru: "Rei, can I talk to you about something?"

Rei: "Sure. What is it?"

Naru: "Do you ever feel like you lost something important?"

Rei: "All the time. Why do you ask?"

Naru: "There is something I need to tell you. You're the only one I can trust with this, so don't tell anyone!"

Rei: "Don't worry, your secret's safe with me. What is it that you need to tell me?"

Naru: "I've told you about my dad's Mystic Eyes of Future Sight, right?"

Rei: "The same ones your sister inherited? What about them?"

Naru: "When my mother died, she said goodbye to me with tears in her eyes. She knew she was going to die!"

Rei: "Hold on, are you saying that your dad predicted that your mom was going to die? Why would he do that? Why didn't your mom try to stop it?"

Naru: "I don't know, but I feel like something is going on here. I mean, the Holy Grail War started one month after my mother's death. That can't be a coincidence! Oh, I'm sorry if I sound like I'm rambling on."

Rei: "No, it's okay. You bring up a lot of good points. However, I don't think we should be focusing on this right now."

Naru: "Yeah, you're right. Let's continue looking for that dead apostle."

Rei: "Speaking of which, where is it? We've walked around the first floor three times now, and we haven't found anything."

Naru: "Yeah. According to the map, this place should be flooded with dead apostles, yet we haven't encountered a single one. Then again, this same map is drawn using a box of crayons."

TAP TAP TAP

Rei: "Footsteps!"

Naru: "They're coming from around that corner!"

Naru and Rei pressed up against the wall as the footsteps got louder and louder. Naru pulled out his knife, ready to stab at whatever was around the corner. Once the footsteps reached Naru's position, he reached around the corner with his knife, ready to strike at whatever was approaching, only for his arm to get caught.

?: "Easy there, don't be too hasty with that knife. You might end up hurting someone you know."

It wasn't a dead apostle. Rather, it was a familiar-looking redhead.

Naru: "Shirou?"

Shirou: "Hi Naru! Long time no see!"

Naru: "Um…hi?"

Rei: "Naru, you know this guy?"

Naru: Oh, right! This is Shirou Emiya, he's the master of Archer."

Rei: "Oh yeah! I remember you mentioned him when you talked about the Holy Grail War. Nice to meet you, Emiya. I'm Rei Odakyu!"

Shirou: "Nice to meet you, too- wait a minute? Weren't you the kid who mugged me in the park?"

Rei: "No, that was another guy."

Shirou: "Are you sure? I could have sworn that-"

Rei: "Nope! You're imagining things!"

Naru: "Muggings aside, what are you doing here? I thought you were focusing on the Grail War?"

Shirou: "I was, but something urgent has come up, and Chirocul has something to do with it."

Naru: "Really? Chirocul is just a dead apostle. What is so urgent about him that you would take a break from the Grail War to focus on it?"

Shirou: "Tell me, what do you know about Chirocul, specifically regarding his teeth?"

Rei: "Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you this earlier, Naru. Chirocul has metal teeth."

Naru: "Metal teeth?"

Rei: "Yeah. He got into a fight with another vampire and got his teeth knocked out in the process. Since he couldn't regenerate them because of a curse his opponent put on him, he had to replace them with metal ones."

Naru: "I don't get it. What do Chirocul's teeth have to do with this?"

Shirou: "Everything. The true ancestor that Chirocul fought is coming to Sekoyoma to finish him off."

Naru: "Yeah? What's so concerning about- wait, did you say 'true ancestor'? You don't mean-"

Shirou: "Yes, the vampire that Chirocul fought…was Arcueid Brunestud."
