Hank had felt something was very wrong since Cam had dropped off Dani, he also knew Mark and Amelia had been quiet, too quiet. They were up to something and he was determined to find out.
The next day he brought Dani with him to the district, he texted Cam that he would keep her for the day while she had classes. Thankfully she agreed, as Hank read the text he could sense she was almost..relieved for some reason. Now it was time for him to get to work.
Hank brought his daughter to Trudy's desk and set her up in a small area setting her in a chair. "Alright sweetheart, I'm gonna be upstairs working, you're gonna stay with Trudy. I'll come to check on you around lunch"
Dani nodded, her ponytail bouncing. "Alright daddy"
Hank kissed her head and gave Trudy a look and she nodded. Nobody would be getting close to Dani without getting by Trudy. He went up to the squad and saw his team was there talking and doing paperwork. He glanced and saw Mouse was in and was grateful.
Hank had gone over to the tech. "Mouse I need a favor"
"Sure sarge, what's up?" Mouse replied.
"I need a deep background check on Cam"
"You got it. What's wrong?"
"She seemed off when she brought Dani home yesterday"
"I'm on it, give me an hour tops"
"Thanks"
Hank patted his shoulder and let him get to work, he had gone to his office needing to gather his thoughts before he did anything further. He knew as Mouse worked it would be a very long hour.
As Hank sat in his office there was a knock on his door breaking him from his thoughts. "Yeah?" He called.
Trudy opened the door slightly. "Sorry to bother you Hank, you got a visitor. Amelia wants to see you"
"Thanks, Trudy, send her in"
Trudy nodded and held the door open for Amelia as she glared at her. Amelia walked in past the older desk Sergeant, her heels clicking on the floor. She took off her leather jacket and sat it on the back of the chair across from Hank and sat down.
"Your team doesn't seem to take to me, Hank," Amelia says, crossing her legs. "Nor does the desk Sergeant"
"They're not the only ones, what do you want Amelia?" Hank responded flatly and bluntly.
"Always so quick to the point, I was thinking about it and you're right. Dani is better off with you than with me and Mark. You're more stable than we are"
Hank raised an eye. "Really? You're giving up like that?"
"I have to think what's in Dani's best interest and if it means living with you, so be it. It's what's best for her"
"What do you want Amelia?"
"Must it always come to me wanting something? I can't do anything nice for once?"
"Not a chance in a million hells. You either want something or you're up to something, you and Mark. What do you want?"
"I want what's best for Dani, it may be hard for you to understand but it's true"
"If you expect me to believe that you're insane"
"Then I'm insane. I gotta go"
She got up and grabbed her jacket heading for the door just as Mouse came in.
"Sarge, I'm finished. I got something" Mouse told Hank.
Hank looked back to Amelia. "You're not going anywhere, sit your ass back down. We're just getting started"
