(A/N): Hello, my fellow readers. This story is a prologue spinoff after the events of future Shrek 5 movie and is a series of my successful story on here called 'The Strange Family'. Now, it's going to be a good while for you guys to see the full story itself since I still have a lot of ways to go to finish up with the movie based works of my Strange Family story. Thanks for reading and enjoy. This will have only two chapters.
My Strange Wife and Kids
Inside a nice two-story home that is in the swamp suburb community, a dark brown skinned man in his early thirties with a short goatee that goes along with his smooth trimmed mustache and having a short cut haircut. He was currently walking down the steps wearing a gold mix with black T-shirt that has an image of an open book being drawn inside by a quill pen, along with a pair of blue jean pull string jogging pants and a pair of top of the line shoes that matches his shirt. This is man is non-other than the one of the world's famous book publishing author Jason Ogre, who has his very own well known book publishing company that he happily runs, along with owning the villages old lumber mill that he used to work at when he once was a teen and owns a couple of investment shares he invested in when he first published his very first book that got him rich and famous. The book is based on his life and memorable adventures he had with his father, Shrek and others that he named 'The Strange Family', which made a full total of five books.
Jason, who is looking forward to starting his morning by drinking some nice squeezed orange juice, walks past the living room and into the half kitchen half dining room where he sees his adorable biracial six year old daughter Cindy, who has a one piece navy blue attire and have a double afro hairstyle, who is seating at the table reading a book in front of her female Puertorican private part-time teacher, while having a little basic breakfast.
"Hey, good morning my little sweet potato." Jason spoke to one of his three kids before leaning down to kiss her on the cheek.
"Good morning, Daddy." Cindy replied sweetly while not taking her eyes off her book.
Jason looks at the pirate Puertorican tutor that he doesn't like since she hates him for whatever reason. "And good morning to you too, Rachel."
Rachel looked at Jason with a brow raised and spoke in her native language. Jason doesn't know any Spanish but he can tell from facial expression and the tone of voice that she isn't too pleased to see him.
"I'll pretend that you said good morning." Jason walks over to grab a seat on the other side beside Cindy once seeing his newspaper. "Hey, Rachel, can you please squeeze me a fresh cup of orange juice with ice?."
Rachel raised her brow. "That's not my job. My job is to teach your daughter fundamentals, not be a servant maid."
Jason trying not to get it on with Rachel while opening his newspaper. "I am paying you a hundred forty coins an hour, so this isn't supposed to be a debate."
Rachel shots back. "We're out of oranges."
Jason folded his newspaper. "I'm pretty sure I brought plenty of oranges."
"You did, but I used the rest to squeeze myself and your daughter a cup this morning." said Rachel, with no shame or bothering to replace the oranges.
Jason looks at her in disbelief silence for a few seconds before resuming his natural look. "Can I at least have two toasts and a muffin?."
Rachel helped Cindy with a word she can't pronounce. "You have two hands that aren't sore or broken. Get it your own self."
Jason rolled his eyes and got up to get himself something to eat while mumbling something in his breath as Rachel responded back in talking smack in her native language yet again.
Jason turned around and had that losing patience of peace. "Oh, you're one way from being unemployed, trust me and…"
Suddenly his beautiful white blond haired wife, who happens to be Goldilocks or Goldi for short, walked in the middle of her husband's build up argument with the part-time teacher. Goldi, who gave up the life of crime, currently runs and being fourth business owner/baker of the worlds best bakery factory that she and her adopted bear family have taken over years ago from Jack Horner after the events of the Wishing Star. She had her poofy hair in a big tied bun in the back while wearing her all white chef attire and a pair of black flat shoes.
"Morning, love." Goldi kissed Jason on the lips.
"Hey, good morning, Goldi." Jason kissed back.
Rachel grabs another cup and happily hands it to Goldi with a big teeth smile. "Here you go, Mrs. Ogre. Freshly squeezed orange juice with ice."
Goldi smiles back, taking the cup. "Thank you, Rachel. How's our little scholar doing this morning?." She looks down at Cindy, whose eyes light up when she sees her mother.
Cindy closes her book and jumps into Goldi's arms. "I'm learning so much, Mommy!." she exclaims, her voice filled with excitement. "Miss Rachel is the best teacher ever!."
Goldi smiles warmly at Rachel, the tension between her and Jason momentarily forgotten. "That's wonderful to hear, sweetie. What are you two working on today?."
Rachel, pleased by Cindy's enthusiasm, answers politely. "We're starting a new chapter in the book of the elements. It's about the power of water and its importance in our lives."
Goldi nods, setting Cindy back down at the table. "That sounds fascinating. I'm sure you're going to love it, Cindy."
Jason looks at Rachel with a little head shake and distaste. "You kiss ass."
Rachel smirks and sips her own orange juice. "I prefer to call it 'doing my job well'."
"And didn't you say we were out of oranges?." Jason exposed her.
Rachel's smirk faded, "Well, I might have missed some." She quickly turned to Cindy, "Let's get back to your lessons, shall we?."
Jason shakes his head before going over to where Goldi is who is getting herself a muffin. "Hey, look honey I was thinking and hoping that you stay home and skip work."
"Not happening, Jason, why don't you keep trying your best to make me stay." said Goldi, before drinking her juice.
"Oh, come on, Goldi, I'm tired of waiting till night for you to return home and me slaving all evening over a hot stove." said Jason, with a small whine.
Goldi laughs, her blue eyes sparkling. "You know I can't do that. The bakery needs me. Plus, I like working. It keeps me busy." She takes a bite of her muffin, the warm blueberry flavor bursting in her mouth.
"Goldi, I'm pretty sure that your parents and brother can run the bakery without you every day." Jason started to get real with her. "I literally forgot what your food tastes like. Let alone, I'm stuck here most of the hours dealing with our three kids."
Goldi swallowed her mouthful of muffin, placing a gentle hand on Jason's arm. "You know I love working at the bakery, and I enjoy contributing to our family's success."
"Yeah, but being a stay at home mom/wife is the greatest thing ever. My mom enjoys it." argued Jason.
Goldi sighs, knowing her husband's persuasive tactics. "Jason, we've talked about this. I want to keep working. It's important to me. Plus, you're a great dad." She leans in closer, her voice softer. "You have plenty of help here with Rachel."
"You mean lazy amigo over there?." Jason did a thumb pointing motion towards Rachel who looked at him threateningly. "Yeah, I said it."
Rachel puts her plate aside and stands up. "Look, Jason. I don't have to put up with your crap. I'm here for Cindy, not to be your personal maid or punching bag."
"You're not here." Jason spoke in the act of ignoring. "Like what I was saying..."
Another biracial girl walked into the kitchen in her purple clothes with her hair braided back. This is Jason and Goldi's second child who's twelve years old and shares her mother's facial features. Her name is Naomi.
"Morning Mom. Morning Dad." Naomi spoke before opening the fridge to get some grapes to eat.
Goldi turned her attention to Naomi. "Good morning, honey. How did you sleep?."
Naomi shrugged, grabbing a handful of grapes. "Alright, I guess. Can't wait for school to start, though." She popped a grape into her mouth and crunched it with a smile.
Jason happily walks over to his second oldest. "Good morning, my princess." He tried to give her a kiss but she pushed him away.
"Ew, Dad stop!." Namoi pulls herself away.
"Little girl, what's wrong with you?." Jason tried to give her a hug and kiss but she pulled away.
"I'm not little anymore, Dad." Naomi rolled her eyes. "I'm starting seventh grade, remember?."
"Uh, yeah, but a kiss won't hurt you." Jason tries again but Naomi quickly walks off and out of the kitchen. He looks at Goldi with a confused look. "What did I do to be treated like that by my own blood?."
Goldi laughs, patting him on the back. "Oh, you know teenagers, they're going through that phase. Plus, she's starting to get a bit more independent."
"Yeah, since when is still being on an allowance and not giving a Dad a hug or kiss considered independent?." Jason asked in plain tone.
Goldi couldn't hold back her laughter, "Since they become teenagers and think they know everything."
Jason shook his head. "I blame today's music."
Goldi finished her muffin and walked back to the living room to check the inside of her carry-on bag to see if she had everything before leaving. Just then the first child of the three walked in with a pair of weird wear styles. His pants and shirt are inside out, along with having a pirate hat that is slanted to the right and having a black eye patch on the left eye. He shares familiar features as Jason. This is their eldest child. William or Will for short. The fifteen year old with the new hairstyle that is popular among the moors which is waves, was going to attempt to get money to see a concert.
"Morning Mom." Will spoke when approaching his mom.
Goldi looked over at Will, trying not to laugh at his outfit. "Good morning to you too, William." She said, using his full name to hint at her disapproval of his attire. "Is that your new look for the day?."
"It's the style of this pirate rapper that I'm a fan of." Will spoke while slowly beating around the bush. "Hey, Mom, can you loan me some money?."
Goldi had a smile curled up. "I figured that this is the conversation we're going to have. How much?."
"Fifty coins." Will replied casually, expecting his mom to hand over the cash without any questions asked.
"And why do you need fifty coins?." Goldi asked while roaming her hand in her bag.
"I want to go to this concert next Friday. The performer is the rapper I've been telling you about." Will replied with a hopeful grin.
Goldi looks at her son. "Forget it, mate."
Will's hopeful expression quickly fades. "What?. Why?."
"Because I do not want you to be exposed to all of that swearing and hearing that person calling women hoes and scallywags." said Goldi.
Will rolled his eyes. "It's just music, Mom. Besides, it's a family-friendly concert."
"What's family-friendly about seeing a female dancer dancing topless and shaking her butt?." Goldi waited for an answer.
Will's cheeks flushed a deep shade of red, "Mom, it's not like that. They're just... they're just..."
"Just what?" Goldi raised an eyebrow, challenging her son's naivety.
Will stuttered, "They're just... uh... entertainers. It's all part of the show."
"Hmmm." Goldi looks at her son before closing her bag. "My answer is still no."
Will's face falls. "But, Mom..."
"Hey, if you are still not going to give it up..." Goldi points to the kitchen. "Then take your case to the higher court that is your father. Good luck."
As soon as Goldi exits herself out of the house to go get in one of the family's cars, Will puts on a good attitude before walking into the kitchen where Jason was sitting at the table still reading his newspaper.
"Hey, Dad." Will puts on a smile.
Jason lowers the newspaper, his eyes scanning Will's outfit with a mix of amusement and skepticism. "What's with the getup, Will?. Are you planning on boarding a ship and plundering for gold?."
Will rolls his eyes. "It's the style, Dad. You wouldn't get it."
"You got that right." Jason gave his son the full attention. "What do you need?."
Will took a deep breath and hoped for the best. "I need fifty coins for a concert ticket. It's next Friday. We're rich."
"Correction, me and your mom are rich. You and your two siblings are flat broke." Jason teased with a playful smile.
Will rolled his eyes. "Come on, Dad. It's just fifty coins. It's not like I'm asking for the world here."
Jason sat his paper down. "Who are you trying to see?."
"A pirate rapper named Captain Snatch." Will replied with excitement.
Jason busted laughing at the name. "Ah, man, and what's his number one hit song?."
Will grinned. "It's 'Treasure Chest Hoedown'. It's fire, Dad. Trust me, you'd like it. It's not what you think of both his name and his song."
Jason puts his hands up in defense while still having his smile. "Hey, I wasn't thinking negatively. When I hear someone's name being Captain Snatch, I most definitely don't think he's going to be stealing my belongings or snatching up a criminal record. And a song like It's Treasure Chest Hoedown, doesn't make me think about the treasure as nothing but pass around floozies. No, he and music sounds like an excellent positive influence on the youth."
Will tilted his head to the side with an unimpressed look. "Dad, I know you're being sarcastic."
Jason chuckled before getting lightly serious. "Look, Will, I know you want to go to this concert and all, but your mother and I have to draw the line somewhere. We can't just give you money for every little thing you want."
Will's expression turned into a pout. "But all my friends are going."
"If your friends wanted to jump off a cliff and into a body where large sized rocks break their fall, would you jump too?." Jason asked in a clever response.
Will sighs. "You guys never let me do anything fun." He says in a tone of defeat.
Jason shook his head before getting up. "Look, son, if I'm going to be spending fifty coins on something it would be something worth seeing. That rapper you're so drooling over isn't worth the spending. Want to know why?."
"Why?." Will asked with a hopeful tone.
"It's simple. He's just like all the other new singers." Jason started to act it out. "All they do is have a hype person yelling on a microphone and Captain Snatch grabbing his mic saying, 'Aye, maties, you all know the words to my songs!. Come on, sing along with me!'."
Will couldn't help but laugh at his father's ridiculous impression. "Okay, okay, I get it."
Jason can't help himself. "Oh, and it doesn't stop there, Will, he and every other current singer want to sing someone else's songs and not their own music that people came to hear."
Will laughs a bit despite his disappointment. "Okay, Dad, I get it."
"Now, you and the rest of your generation don't know what a real concert is all about. You see a concert supposed to be a show and not a waste of money and time. And when I say a show, I mean a show-show. When I was growing up, I went to see the sensational Miss Night." said Jason.
Will, who got out of the fridge to grab himself some milk for his cereal, looks at his father in confusion. "Who is Miss Night?."
Jason laughs before going into detail. "Miss Night was a singer. A real singer, not like these today singing wannabes. She had this powerful, soulful voice that could shake the very foundations of this house. Her concerts were legendary, full of lights, costumes, and an orchestra that could make you weep. She was the real deal, son. And she had special effects!."
Will's curiosity is piqued despite his initial disappointment. "Special effects?. Like what?."
Jason nods, reminiscing. "Oh, you wouldn't believe it. She had this one number where it looked like she was flying across the stage, sparks flying everywhere. And she literally ate a whole sword and literally pulled it right out of her butt. I'm not making this up."
Will's eyes widen in a mix of shock and amazement. "What?. That's crazy!."
"Yeah, it was quite the show. Now, if you want to go to a concert, I'll take you to see someone who actually has talent and isn't just going to spit a bunch of nonsense into a microphone while half-dressed dancers shake their bits." Jason winks at Will.
Will gave it a thought and considered what era his father was living in. "No, thanks. Guess I have to listen to Captain Snatch music at home then."
Jason nodded, smiling. "That's more like it. Now, go eat your breakfast and then go get ready for school. I've got to fill an order for an overseas customer and do a reading check with my employees' unreleased books."
Will sighs but nodded, grabbing his cereal box. "Okay, Dad."
Jason watched him pour his cereal into a bowl before getting himself ready. Hours went by as the day went from morning to evening. The kids returned home from school and did their homework, Goldi still at the pie bakery factory with her parents and brother, and Jason pulling his horseless carriage car into the garage. After turning off the engine and exiting the car, Jason was glad to be home and try to relax before going to work making tonight's dinner. When entering through the door leading to the kitchen and closing it back, Jason walked out to walk into the living room to see Cindy and Rachel by the coffee table doing some work.
Jason wanted the house to only be himself and the kids in it. "Alright, Rachel, you can bounce. I'm not stupid in what you're doing. Your hours are from morning to early afternoon."
Rachel rolled her eyes and picked up her bag, she knew that Jason had a habit of exaggerating his knowledge of things. "Yes, Mr. Ogre, I'll be on my way."
Rachel gave Cindy a kiss on the forehead before heading out to the living room's door exit before speaking harshly towards Jason in her native language. Jason wasn't going to take it as he talked to her while she continued speaking in another language.
"Yeah, Yeah, right back at you, Sinatra." Jason motions her out. "At least I'm not the one who has to worry about immigration."
Rachel left the house, leaving Jason and Cindy in the living room. He sighed, walking over to the coffee table to look over the schoolwork with Cindy. He noticed something peculiar with Cindy's workbook. "What's this, Cindy? Some kind of new math?."
"Si, Papi." Cindy responded in Espanol.
"Ah, Rachel is teaching you Spanish." Jason spoke before sitting on the couch. "Even though that isn't one of the four subjects that we hired her to teach you. Where's your siblings?."
"Namoi y Will están en sus habitaciones." Cindy answered in Spanish while doing her practice work.
"Uh, huh." Jason slowly nodded his head as he had no clue what she just said to him. "Alright you, let's drop the Spanish speaking and go back to speaking the King's English."
Cindy giggled, switching back to English. "Okay, Daddy. Naomi and Will are in their rooms."
"Thank you." Jason gets up and heads up stairs to start off in seeing Naomi.
He knocks on the first door on the right. "Hey, Naomi, are you in there?."
"What is it, Dad?." Naomi spoke in slight annoyance.
Jason opens the door to see Naomi sitting in front of her desk with a science textbook. "Hey, how's my princess doing?. How's school?."
Naomi rolls her. "It's good, Dad. We're starting a new chapter on biology. Anything else?."
Jason nodded. "Cool. And how did it go in the gym?."
"It's fine, Dad." Naomi replied with a hint of annoyance. "Can you go now?."
"Geez, Naomi, you're acting as if you're trying to avoid me." Jason looks at her body language.
"No, Dad, I just have a lot of homework to do." Naomi tries to sound as convincing as possible.
Jason can see right off the bat that she is in fact attempting to avoid him. "Dinner will be ready soon."
Naomi nods before her dad closes the door. Jason blew out some air before turning around to go to the other door that belongs to William. He knocked on it but didn't get a response. He knocked on it again and still got no response. Figuring what is making his son not hear the knocking of his door, he let himself in to see Will doing some today's dancing while listening to his favorite rapper with his headphones and on his handheld rectangular shaped magic mirror.
Will nodded in listening to his hero and started singing the lyrics while Jason stood to watch for his own amusement.
"Yeah, love, we're pirates of the caribbean!. We're pirates of the caribbean!. We got the doubloons melted down to make grizzlies in our teeth and we have our very own cearl brand in stores." Will started doing the party over here and not over there dance motion. "We're a bunch of scoundrels who spend our day sailing, drinking, smoking and most of all that we love the most. And that most is that we love chasing hoes on the ship and then ra..."
Will stopped dead in finishing the lyric when seeing his father right in his room with a big smirk on his face while having his arms crossed with utter shock. Jason can say that himself and Goldi were right on the mark on not wanting their firstborn to go see that pirate in person.
"Hey, don't stop on my account, Will. Please, finish that lyric." Jason dared his boy.
Will's face flushed redder than a tomato in a dragon's lair. "It's just a song, Dad. It's not like I believe in all that stuff."
"You sure?. Because the way you were dancing and singing all so carefree, it makes me think that you're down with treating girls wrong and belittling them." said Jason.
Will sighs, taking out his headphones. "Dad, come on, it's just music. It's not like I'm going to start acting like that."
"Hey, it's scientifically proven that whatever influence that a show or song has on that individual will imitate it." Jason spoke in all honesty before sitting in Will's bed.
"It's just entertainment, Dad." Will tried to defend his favorite rapper.
"Entertainment is fine, Will. But when it starts glorifying disrespect and objectifying women, that's not the kind of influence we want in this house." Jason's tone was firm but not harsh. "Do you honestly think your mom would want me if I acted exactly the same way the lyrics you sang?."
Will looked down at the floor, feeling embarrassed. "No, Dad. I just like the beat and the sound of his music."
"Hey, the beats and sounds are good but the lyrics describing them aren't always positive." Jason got serious. "William, what if some boys come around and treat Naomi exactly how your so-called hero is treating women, would you let them do that to her for the sake of entertainment?."
William looked up, his expression serious. "No, Dad. I'd never let anyone treat her like that."
"And what if one of those nasty boys wanted to have their way with her?. What would you do?." Jason watched for his big brotherly response.
William's expression turned into anger. "I would rip them apart like a piece of paper!."
Jason nodded. "Good." He gets up and puts a hand on Will's shoulder. "Because believe it or not, Naomi looks up to you and strongly depends on you to protect her outside this house. Me and your mom won't be around forever, and both of your sisters will one day look up to you as their protector."
William felt the weight of his father's words, his shoulders straightening up. "I understand, Dad."
Jason gave Will's shoulder a firm squeeze before releasing his grip. "Good, I'll let you listen to your garbage that you call music. I call when dinner is ready."
"Thanks, Dad." Will murmured, a thought of reminder had entered his head. "Oh, and Dad, guess what?."
"What's up, Will?." Jason asked as he started to leave the room.
"I'm growing facial hair." Will excitedly said.
"Really?." Jason happily spoke.
Will nodded with pride. "Yeah, it's not much, but it's there." He rubs his chin, feeling the slight prickles.
Jason got closer to examine his son's face. "Uh, huh, and when puberty finally hits, we can see some hair. Right now I only see immature hair that is difficult to see."
William frowned, "That's not funny, Dad. I do have hair."
"I know you do, Will. But it's still early days. Your voice hasn't even cracked yet. Give it some time." Jason chuckled, ruffling Will's hair before leaving the room.
"But Dad, I do have hair. Here, let me show you downstairs because it's impressive." Will quickly went to work in unzipping his pants.
"Wow, Wow!." Jason quickly steps away. "I don't want to see that, you nasty little boy!."
William blushed harder than a peach in a blush contest. "It's just hair, Dad. We're both guys."
Jason quickly closed the door before welcoming the sigh of relief and made his way back down to cook dinner. "Man, that boy is strange."
