The room was quiet--eerily so. just the low hum of machines and the slow rhythmic sound of the heart monitor. ticking away as the few moments of life left kept slipping. The lights overhead flickered every once in a while casting long shadows across the pale floors and sterile walls, It smelled like antiseptic and plastic--Too clean, Too impersonal
His eyes slowly turned to his left where he thought he'd heard her but there was nothing but an empty chair.
It was just him.
He laid there on the bed, his skin pale against the sheets, tubes sneaking out from his arms like roots of a dying tree, He was twenty-four, Young enough to still be called a kid by some, old enough to know what was slowly happening
He was dying...
He felt it--Nothing like how it was described in the movies, slow like a candle slowly dimming his life the wick as slowly but surely, there was no life flashing before your eyes as a bright light engulfed you.
His chest rose and fell in shallow gasps, each one taking more effort than the last, Fingers twitching heavy lips dry Eyes half-lidded, staring at the ceiling he'd memorized over the last weeks days
Waiting on someone to walk through the door and hold his hand telling him everything would be alright and that he wouldn't be alone, He wished for his father's hand and the days when he would sit by his bedside while sick
…
but no one did
He had a few visitors during his time here, He could vividly remember his friends visiting, They would spend their visiting hour catching up on all the things he'd missed while stuck in here, His mother had also visited him, tears of sorrow breaking him inside, Yet he couldn't find it in himself to look her in the eye, and not when his father hadn't taken the time to even send a letter and not after all the betrayal…
…you're all alone…
A dry chuckle escaped his throat as suddenly a violent series of coughs erupting from his chest, flaring in agony he heaved into his hands blood and spittle slowly drenching his palms. he stared into the fluorescent light above blurring into soft halos, he could feel his thoughts drifting away unsteadily like trying to hold onto a very slippery fish while your hands were drenched in motor oil he mused
It doesn't even matter anyways
He thought his vision was becoming even more blurred and unfocused. He could feel the wick slowly extinguishing, He heard the sound of his rooms opening his eyes taking in the sight of his final visitor, as his vision started fading into black and his ears started ringing the last thing he saw in this world would be his father's devastated face as he thought one final thing
…You're late…
.
Unknown location
9 blurs could be seen dashing through the bogs of the land of water, 8 of which wearing generic Anbu attire consisting of a gray flak jacket, dark cargo masks alongside hoods that covered their hair and of course the anbu mask themselves, each member had a different pattern of varying colors and designs but all having the kiri symbol on their forehead, while the last member of their squad being a rather old man with black hair greyed with age, he had bags under his eyes and had looked as he haven't seen a bed in months, He wore a pair of dark blue pants, a long sleeved shirt above it he wore the standard Kiri jonin flak jacket, He displayed his headband on his forehead proudly as he ran alongside his comrades, He seemed to be carrying large Urn, The Urn itself was almost as large as the man who was carrying, had many swirling patterns that would not look too uncommon in the land of whirlpools, The swirls and spirals seemed to be miniature seal matrix's interwoven together to create one large whirlpool
Hours later they would near a large camp, its fires lighting up the forested area with its many campfires and braziers. Stopping a fair distance away from the Grove of trees, one of the masked men would walk up and hold one of his hands formed the ram seal as he sent out a specific code using chakra
You're late.
Said a man as three figures came out from the Grove of trees, all of them looked the same except for hair colour and the clothes they wore, The man who spoke up being the on the left wore a Brown kimono, He had a dark shade of brown hair while the man on the right had gray silver hair wearing a light blue kimono, while the last man the only one wearing embroideries wore a black kimono with gold laces intricate patterns, This man had waist length white hair and red jade green emerald eyes
"Forgive our tardiness, but we had a few issues on our way here."
Spoke the masked man as he walked forward to meet the white haired man. They met as the masked man offered his hand to the white haired man, The man looked uninterested and before long the masked man took his hand back.
"Is it ready?"
Asked another one of the masked men leading the man carrying the large urn closer. The two other men accompanying the white haired man grinned as the white haired man turned around and walked east of where the camp was situated. Not wasting any time the other two followed behind as the group of masked men alongside the man carrying the urn walked at a brisk pace towards a secluded part of the camp.
10 minutes later they arrived at a small camp where an altar made of white marble stood, 4 lit braziers surrounded the altar along with 8 people with the same white hair as their leader, probably family members of the white haired man.
As soon as they reached the camp the masked men turned to to face the oldest member of their party, One of them spoke up, "You're no uzumaki Saguna-Sama, Are you sure about this?"
A small grin tuggedon the older man's harsh face as he looked at the man who spoke "Even if this kills me, Ill be happy knowing my loves sacrifice was not in vain" He said
The forest turned silent for a few moments, nodding the masked men vanished into the trees surrounding the camp, moments later a blue translucent barrier appeared around the camp illuminating in the moonlight.
The old man walked ahead ignoring the people surrounding him, reaching the altar the man looked down at the child in the middle. He was joined seconds later by the white haired leader, a smug smirk crossing his face.
"Is it a suitable host?"
Asked the white haired leader his voice laced with confidence as if denial was not possible.
The old man grunted in affirmation as he placed the urn down next to the altar. Taking his time, the man pulled out one of his scrolls. Unfurling it, he placed his hand on the kanji for 'seal' in the middle of it. A moment later a cloud of smoke would appear when it cleared a calligraphy set including 3 brushes of varying sizes and qualities would appear along with a sealed pot of ink with the title 'Chakra Conducting Ink' on its cap would appear on the scroll.
Picking up one of the expensive looking brushes the old man would proceed to uncork the bottle of ink dipping the brush in. He would, in rapid succession, start painting the seal to one of the most complex works the elemental nations had seen to date on the small child. The child squirmed and cried as the cold brush touched its skin.
Around a whole hour later the man was done, placing the brush onto a different seal the man would proceed with the second step of his mission. Sweat trickled down his stern face as a shiver went down his spine, he swallowed the lump in his throat as he clenched the lid of the urn. Using the key to the seal matrix on the urn he opened it, blood red chakra bursting out as the men in the forest surrounding the altar held a one handed seal.
The Cries of the child on the altar grew, the melicious chakra sent out waves of negative energy. It slowly grew weaker as the man started a rapid series of hand seals.
Ram Ox Bird Monkey Boar Hare Boar Dog Rat Horse Tiger Ram Hare Boar Ox Dragon Serpent.
He placed both hands on the child, sweat rapidly poured down his face, he could feel the seal weakening on the urn an acidic substance starting to overflow from inside of the urn.
Uzumaki Sealing Technique: Prison Of A Thousand Chains!
The smell and sound of burning flesh could be heard as the child whaled in agony as the seal glowed for a few seconds, moments later the chakra from the urn burst out like a torrent from a dam cracking it in places as it was slowly but surely sealed into the child. The man, pale, held his hand in the serpent seal as he grit his teeth holding the beast back from destroying the seal and killing the child.
And just moments later it was all over, the beast was finally sealed into the child. Not a second after the sealing was completed the man slackened and fell face first into the ground. The barrier around the camp fell and all 8 masked men returned to the altar. The screams of the child could still be heard in the background as one of the masked men reached for the older man's neck checking for a pulse, the masked man shook his head indicating that he was dead.
The white haired man walked forward looking at the child distastefully and asked "Is it done?".
The apparent leader nodded as they picked up their dead comrade, the other members of the man's family walked forwards peering curiously at the new Jinchuriki. The youngest one of the bunch picked the boy up cradled him in her arms slowly rocking him back and forth in a rhythmic motion, slowly the child's cries faded only its pitiful whimpering.
"It is."
Said the leader, as the squad picked up the rest of the dead man's supplies that had been left on the ground. A couple seconds later and they were done, the dead man's body was now sealed in a scroll and wrapped in a black ribbon. 7 of the 8 masked men vanished leaving the leader standing there. The man stared at the child for a few more moments before looking back up to the white haired man nodding then vanishing.
The man walked over to the girl holding the child, looking down and frowning at it he scoffed then left. The others followed leaving the Girl and the child in her arms, Smiling, she held it closer and walked to the tent, Holding the flaps up she entered with the child and placing it back in the crib, she blew out the candle...
"Goodnight saro-chan…"
He gasped, opening his eyes as he shot up only to hit the bottom of the desk above the bed, Falling back down onto the bed, heart beating rapidly, he held his head groaning in pain as he gulped down lungfuls of air...
He was breathing...?
Slowly he reached for his chest carefully caressing his injury.
No pain..
He pressed harder against his chest but no gut retching pain overcame his system, no nothing… He turned to the window of his hospital room and slowly sat up, carefully avoiding the desk this time. The sunlight was bright yet not harsh, adjusting to the brightness took some time but when he looked out he could physically feel his heart stopping as he looked outside only to see a village and a mountain greeting him.
It wasn't the beautiful sight of the large red building with the Kanji proudly displayed on its top, neither was it the two people hopping from roof to roof, but it was what was on the mountain, 3 carved faces of people he vaguely recognized, yet... From where?
His breathing quickened. He crawled back onto the bed, trying to get as far away from the window as possible.
"No… nonono nonononono!"
He repeated hyperventilating, slowly he clutched his knees up to his chest and started rocking back and forth on the hospital bed.
"Breath Tenji, breath."
He thought to himself, trying to calm down. Slowly but surely, his heart rate decreased and his breathing steadied. His head hit the soft pillow as he looked up at the ceiling, half of his vision obscured by the desk above him. Looking around, he noticed a nightstand next to his bed, along with a stool beside it. The hospital room itself was around seven meters in length and cube-shaped. There was a corridor at the far right side of the room, and from where he lay, he could see what appeared to be a bathroom door. Suddenly, the sound of a door opening echoed through the room, followed by a few footsteps and the quiet thud of the door closing behind them.
He looked over to see a middle-aged woman holding a clipboard, standing a few feet away from his bed. She seemed to be around 5'6" in height and had her long brown hair tied in a ponytail. Her eyes were dark, and creases were forming at the corners of her mouth. She wore a doctor's coat with a purple dress underneath.
She coughed, getting his attention, a small smile creeping across her face.
"I think you have ogled me for long enough".
She announced when a blush formed across his face, she laughed in amusement then said,
"You're lucky to be alive, the Shinobi who found you were right on time to get you here, If it wasn't for them you would have died from malnutrition."
"where am I?"
He blurted out suddenly aware of his situation, She looked up at him as if he was daft.
"You're in Konohagakure, May I ask for your name?"
He paused for a few moments contemplating his answer before settling for the truth
"My name is Tenji, Tenji Yoshihama"
The woman Nodded before writing something down on the clipboard then looking back up him,
"It's nice to meet you Tenji-kun, My name is Biwako Sarutobi, I welcome you to the village hidden in the leaves."
She said, dipping her head slightly as she walked forwards, grabbing a hold of the stool next to his bed and sitting down.
"So, Tenji-kun, can I ask you a few questions?"
"You just did"
His cheeky response was automatic, he grasped his mouth with both hands, an awkward blush forming once again across his face.Whilst Biwako chuckled in wry amusement.
"Well then may I ask you a few more questions, Tenji-Kun?"
Nodding in affirmation, Biwako smiled and flipped a page on her clipboard before clearing her throat and starting
"So Tenji-kun, how did you find yourself on the bank of the Naka river?"
She started as a look of confusion spread across his face, Taking a few more seconds to try and remember anything he shook his head stating
"I can't remember…"
Nodding Biwako wrote more stuff on the clipboard before looking up at him with a pitying smile,
"Can you tell me anything about yourself? Your parents or guardians or where you came from?" She asked with a neutral gaze.
The boy shook his head once more, sighing Biwako put the clipboard down and rubbed at her temples.
"Well alright then" she stood up and smiled at him once more," You should get some more rest while your body is still weak after going for what seemed to be days without any real food."
Tenji smiled up at the woman for the first time in their conversation, nodding he added, "Thank you Sarutobi-san."
She chuckled, the sound pleasant to his ears as she waved her hands "No no, Call me Biwako young one" she teased before getting up to leave,
"I'll send in someone to bring you some food, would you like anything else in the meantime?"
He shook his head, a grateful smile plastered across his face.
"No thank you Biwako-san, I am grateful for what you have done for me so far" he exclaimed, blowing his head slightly, The woman sighed in amusement.
She nodded and left but not before saying one last thing before she closed the door behind her, "Oh this reminds me, You'll be having a visitor sometime today."
He looked up at where the woman stood notand looked back up to the ceiling
A few minutes passed and a nurse dressed in what seemed to be the standered medic nin outfit entered the room, She smile and waved hello carrying a tray of food she tugged on a compartment built into the bed in a small puff of smoke a table appeared
Shoked Tenji crawled back before his fear turned into wounder, he proceeded to place a hand on the wood touching it as if slight contact would destroy the illusion but it was no such thing
The table was smooth, The oak a minute ago and sighed, he laid back on the bed head throbbing from the excessive information dumped onto him just now.
I'm in Naruto...
He thought the statement was baffling even to himself. His eyes scanned the room once more, he couldn't believe the situation he was in. Not an hour ago he was on his deathbed and now…
…I'm alive…
The thought was unbelievable, the accident had taken his hope, his career, his love and his life yet somehow he was still here. He sat up on the bed once more looking out of the window at the busy streets of the hidden leaf. He could see parents walking with their children, vendors selling their wares and even a few ninja running through the roofs to who knows where.
His thoughts were brought to a halt as the door opened. A few moments later a nurse walked through the corridor, smiling, the woman walked closer, her dark eyes and soft smile putting him at ease as she carried a tray of hospital food.
She put down the tray on the bed next to him and sat down on the stool Biwako had occupied not too long ago, taking a pair of chopsticks from the tray and scooping what seemed to be some steaming rice she offered to feed Tenji who had hidden his face in his hands a groan of embarrassment escaping him as he looked up and shook his head.
"I can feed myself, thank you though" He said as a small smile tugged on his young face, The woman nodded and left the tray on the bed next to him. She bowed and shortly left the room afterwards.
Smiling, he picked the tray up and placed it on his lap. It was simple and he liked it that way. A single bowl of rice along with 2 small river fish, there was also an apple along with a bowl of miso soup.
"Thank you for the food"
He announced appreciatively, clapping his hands together. He picked up a pair of chopsticks. His hands felt a bit stiff but it was no issue, lifting up a clump of rice and placing it in his mouth, he slowly chewed. The taste of solid food without the pain that came with it was a blessing in itself, he could feel small trickles going down his face as he slowly ate.
Minutes later he was done, discarding his chopsticks on the tray and placing it on the bedside table, He yawned Feeling a bit queasy he sat up and tried standing, His legs shook under the weight of his own body, He could feel his muscles tense as he took his first step, Slowly making his way to the corridor.
Opening The bathroom door and switching the lights on, He peered into the room, It was small only fitting a toilet, Sink with a mirror perched upon it along with a small shower, Slowly he made his way to the bathroom sink and curiously looked at the mirror
His eyes bugged out as a feminine sounding yelp escaped him, In shock at what he saw, His legs gave out from under him as he caught himself before his bottom could hit the cold bathroom ground.
He slowly sat up and stood back up using the sink as an anchor. He looked back at his face, Expression twisting into something something akin to a deer caught in headlights, as he slowly touched his face and tugged at his bangs
… I look too…
looking himself up and down, He had high cheekbones and a face models would kill for, his eyes were different however, A pair of heterochromatic eyes stared back at him one green the other a dark shades of violet, he tugged on his white hair, There were strands of red here and there, long and silky his hair flowed till about his back
… Girly…
Suddenly horror overtook his entire being as slowly looked down, Slowly reaching for his hospital gown he closed his eyes hoping his fears wouldn't be reality, A sigh of relief escaped him as he grasped at what he was looking for.
Tenji heard the sound of someone clearing throat to his right as he slowly turned his head to the open bathroom door where an unamused Biwako glared at him, The sight of he made him let out another yelp as he slammed the door on her face
He could hear her laughter through the bathroom door as his face glowed a bright shade of red, Taking longer in the bathroom than necessarily needed, His head peered out of the bathroom door as he tried looking for the woman that had embarrassed him so
Seeing no sign of her, He made his way back to the bed and as soon as he sat down he heard a knock coming from the door leading into his hospital room
"Come in"
He said as he heard the door open then close behind whoever walked in, Tenji's eyes widened as he stared at the appearance of the man that just walked into his room, The man was of below average height, He was tanned and had a small goatee, He wore a red hate with the kanji of fire, Along with that he wore a haori along with a full length kimono.
The man smiled and introduced himself
"Hello young man, Welcome to Konohagakure no sato"
