Chapter 32
Fiyero paced about the dining room. He'd been waiting to see his fiancée after her visit with the doctor. However, she'd been pulled into a Council meeting right after and then he was busy overseeing the troops and checking in with Lieutenant Dilek. Sarah had decided that she would indeed travel back to the Vinkus and they would be leaving as soon as Doctor Talib and Hamza made sure she was ready. Dilek anticipated that it would only be another day or so in order to get all the proper supplies together.
"Prince Fiyero you're going to wear a hole in the floor or are you working up an appetite for dinner?" Mr. Samuels gave him a look. The Prince stopped moving and looked over at him.
"Sorry Mr. Samuels. I haven't seen Elphaba almost all day and I'm just concerned about the meeting she had this morning," Fiyero admitted.
"Miss Elphaba can handle herself, but I know you already know that sir. I'm sure everything is ok," the chef gave him a smile before telling him dinner would be ready in five minutes. The dining room door opened and in walked Boq, but he was alone.
"Hey, you ok?" The Munchkin asked.
"Have you seen Fae?" Fiyero wanted to know.
"The Council meeting was over a few hours ago but I haven't seen her. She's been…" Boq paused and that made his friend give him a look. The Munchkin knew that the Prince was concerned and while he did not know for sure what was going on, he could guess.
"Look this is bringing a lot of stuff up that she's been desperately trying to push down. More questions than answers. You know how she is with questions that don't have answers," Boq continued.
"Like a dog with a bone. I fear that some of this is my fault," Fiyero admitted.
"How do you mean?" Boq was confused.
"The pressures of being a Princess. There are expectations. Elphaba can handle them, but some are more personal than others," his friend said.
"The Council was warned to not say anything to Glinda when she announced she was marrying Bayram. Not than any of them would, I think, but now that she's married an heir is… well I guess people are just expecting one," Boq thought it was odd since Glinda was not a Queen, but some customs die quite hard.
"Fae… she's always been…" Fiyero didn't get a chance to finish that sentence as Mr. Samuels brought out dinner.
"Gentlemen, I've sent Amir to look for Miss Elphaba. Meantime, enjoy," the chef said.
"Thanks!" Boq gave him a smile and Fiyero a nod. Mr. Samuels gave him a look but said nothing, worried that the man had a lot on his mind.
"I hear that someone has been tracking me down," Elphaba said as she came through the dining room door with Amir right behind her.
"You didn't have to go far," Mr. Samuels chuckled at his assistant.
"I almost tripped over her in the hallway," Amir chuckled.
"I was helping Timothy and Damla with a few things and lost track of time. This all looks wonderful you two," Elphaba smiled as she took a seat. She placed her hand on Fiyero's arm, they would talk later.
"Timothy and Damla doing ok?" Boq asked.
"Freaking out about being parents," Elphaba said.
"Ah that would do it," Boq smirked.
"I put a letter in the mail as it were for a little help," the green woman winked.
